Chinese official calls sanctions on Russia increasingly ‘outrageous’
General Electric CEO Larry Culp discusses how the company has pivoted amid the war on Ukraine, inflation and the pandemic in a wide-ranging interview on ‘Barron’s Roundtable.’ A senior Chinese government official said on Saturday that sanctions imposed by Western nations on Russia over Ukraine are increasingly “outrageous”. Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng also acknowledged Moscow’s point of view on NATO, saying the alliance should not further expand eastwards, forcing a nuclear power like Russia “into a corner”. Beijing has also opposed economic sanctions on Russia over Ukraine, which it says are unilateral and are not authorised by the U.N. Security Council. “The sanctions against Russia are getting more and more outrageous,” Le said at security forum in Beijing, adding that Russian citizens were being deprived of overseas assets “for no reason”.“History has proven time and again that sanctions cannot solve problems. Sanctions will only harm ordinary people, impact the economic and financial system… and worsen the global economy.” Russia calls its actions in Ukraine a “special operation” that it says is not designed to occupy territory but to destroy its neighbour’s military capabilities and capture what it regards as dangerous nationalists. Moscow has demanded legally binding guarantees from NATO that it will stop its expansion and return to its 1997 borders.“This pursuit of absolute security (by NATO) precisely leads to absolute non-security,” Le said. “The consequences of forcing a major powe …

Conservatives Roast White House After Report It Considered Giving Americans Gas Cards | The Daily Wire
Conservatives on Twitter roasted the Biden administration on Saturday after a report surfaced that the White House had mulled giving Americans gas cards to help alleviate skyrocketing prices at the pump.Axios reported Saturday that the White House floated the idea as part of a package Democrats are brainstorming in an attempt to offer some sort of positive policy response to soaring gas prices. The idea was quickly shot down by a House Democratic legal counsel, who pointed out the idea would be expensive and poorly targeted; it would likely make inflation worse and wouldn’t necessarily lower prices; and it would likely bog down the IRS in the middle of tax filing season, which would lead to delays in filing and processing tax returns.A White House spokesman admitted that the idea was discussed, but claimed it was not a serious policy proposal. “There’s a variety of ideas being discussed to ensure that the costs American families are feeling at the pump are as minimal as possib …

Boris: Putin In ‘Total Panic’ over Possible ‘Colour Revolution’ In Moscow

Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson pilloried Vladimir Putin following the Russian’s 81,000–200,000-strong rally celebrating eight years since the annexation of Crimea.
Johnson’s speech on Saturday was delivered to a much smaller crowd at the Conservative Party’s spring conference in Blackpool and consisted of a cutting attack on President Putin, suggesting that the Russian is in a “total panic” about a political revolution against his rule.
“He has been in a total panic about a so-called colour revolution in Moscow itself and that is why he is trying so brutally to snuff out the flame of freedom in Ukraine and that’s why it is so vital that he fails,” Johnson alleged.
Citing political oppression in the Russian Federation, Johson asserted that “in Putin’s Russia you get jailed for 15 years just for calling an invasion an invasion, and if you stand against Putin in an election you get poisoned or shot” — a reference to Russian opposition leader Alexander Navalny.
Johnson even compared Putin to a drug dealer, sayin …

Canadian energy official is ‘frustrated’ Biden is looking to Venezuela and Iran for oil: ‘We’re right next door! We’re here!’
A Canadian energy official expressed frustration with the Biden administration for seeking to increase oil production from Venezuela and Saudi Arabia instead of looking to its neighbor to the north.
Sonya Savage, the energy minister for Alberta, made the comments in an interview with Lisa Fletcher of WJLA-TV.
“What did you think when President Biden called on OPEC and other oil drilling nations like Saudi?” asked Fletcher.
“I thought ‘what?’ ‘We’re right next door. We’re here!’” Savage responded.
“It’s extremely frustrating when we see the United States administration reaching out to Saudi Arabia to ask for more oil production, to ask OPEC for more oil production, to look at Iran, to look at Venezuela when we’re right next door here in Alberta,” she explained. “They should be looking at us as the solution to energy se …
