Libraries rock

My local library now has two of my books on its shelves with four more on order!

I might have just squeed a little then gone down to take a photo of one on the shelf (the other has been checked out).

I might.

(I did)

Please Don't Feed the Alligators

Want a free read of little bite-sized stories from some fabulous authors?

Torquere sent out a call to write a 1000 word story based on a sign saying 'Please Don't Feed the Alligators' and I sent one in.

The anthology is available for download now, totally free. My story, Hungry For a Taste, is an m/m BDSM (I know, you're shocked and surprised ;-))

Heh

A reader just commented on Secretary, the steamy m/f BDSM epic I co-wrote with three friends a decade ago to say Wesley was way hotter than the man from Fifty Shades.

Yes. Yes, he is ::fans self:; I don't know how we wrote that story without combusting at times. We did a chapter each, posting a new one daily, and it was the high spot of the day for eight months, waiting to see what Wes was going to do to Faith next.

And he did a LOT. Repressed English lawyers with issues and an inflexible attitude to rules are a lot of fun at times.

Excuse me. I need to reread some favorite bits.

Tagging again

Alexa and I began tagging on our next book together yesterday. It's called 'The Empty Box' and it will complete the trilogy that began with The Square Peg and The Broken Triangle.

It will tell Dave's story, the cook at the bar who's been on his own for a while after his partner of fifteen years walked out.

Feels good to be writing again.

Another part of Sir, Revisited is up

I'm posting a BDSM work in progress at AO3 called 'Sir, Revisted' and I just added another 7000 words.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/1665...

It's not fanfic or based on any characters; it's original fic I'm playing with because it's fun just to write without getting too hung up on having it perfect for a paying audience.

For those reading, hope you enjoy it.

Comfort or Guilt-inducing?

I've never quite understood people who don't reread a book. Not every book. Any book. To think that once read, a book has no value to them, that reading it again is a waste of time.

To me, that says you're reading the wrong books. Some, sure, I'll close, forget, move on. But others...I can reread some books to the point of destruction, pages falling out of cheap bindings, corners bumped. They become family.

There's a heavenly hot bath, warm cocoa comfort to knowing a book holds no surprises, no jarring jolts. To read with the certainty it matches your mood perfectly. To anticipate a particular event, a line, with a gentle fizz of excitement.

It's like revisiting a favorite vacation spot.

So where does the guilt come in? When I contemplate the tottering pile of my TBR books and turn away, pick up a Heyer, a Benson, the first in the Chalet School books, and begin a reread.

Shouldn't I be tackling Everest, not ambling the foothills?

Maybe tomorrow. Venetia's just off brambling and she's about to meet Damerel, Jo's skating on thin ice, literally, and Lucia is plotting Mapp's downfall for the sin of walking in unannounced.

House Call released today

A revised edition of my short story House Call by Jane Davitt was released today by Torquere. It previously appeared in the anthology Bedside Manner.

Country doctor Paul Jackson is passionate about his work, but he can't stop thinking about the chance he took on a one-night stand when he lived in the city. Steve never called, but Paul can't forget him. Discovering Steve is the grandson of one of his dying patients brings them together again, but Paul's worried about the town's reaction. In the midst of tragedy, misunderstandings, and manipulative exes, their love will need plenty of TLC to survive.
It can be purchased here;

Point of Contact

I've got a few novel-length fanfics. I would never pull them to publish, but if anyone's interested in reading one I have a soft spot for, here it is.

Point of Contact is an AU, which means it's not set in the canon of the TV show (The Sentinel) with Jim a cop with enhanced senses and Blair the student studying him for a dissertation, living with him, and helping him control his senses. In Point of Contact, Jim runs an escort agency, the enhanced senses aren't really present except in a subtle way, and Blair starts off as his client.

It's BDSM, m/m for the most part. Point of Contact is about 107,000 words, the sequel Loss of Contact is another 36,000 and there's a snippet in the same 'verse too.

They can be downloaded in all e-book formats from here:
Point of Contact

And if you want a visual of Jim and Blair...

Alexa Interviewed

If you want to read an interview with my co-author Alexa Snow, it's here:

http://diversereader.blogspot.ca/2014...

Alexa's incredibly talented and a dear friend I wish I lived closer to. Heck, even in the same country would be nice :-) We met once in person when her family stayed with mine for a weekend and I don't think we stopped talking the whole time. We've been online friends for over a decade now after meeting on LJ and she's a warm, intelligent, generous lady.
And the best co-author anyone could wish for.

The interview has a contest for a giveaway of one of Alexa's books, Sleeping Stone. It's one of my favorite romances, angsty, yes, for sure, but so perfectly beautiful too.
