Book news
'Room at the Top' by Alexa and me will be coming out early September 2011 from Loose Id.
'Gambling on Love' has been accepted by Ellora's Cave and I'll post more about dates when I have details.
I'm about to start my next solo one for Torquere, due out in January 2012. This one's going to be a bit different; I'm giving it a fantasy setting, though no magic or dragons and such, more an AU Elizabethan world with the background the theater and an actor who rescues a country boy from a predicament in a rare moment of kindness/boredom and changes both their lives. I've got plot elements and twists fizzing in my head and I'm building up the cast list; love this part of a book.
So far 2011 has been busy and productive; fingers crossed I can keep it up.

Started a new book
Alexa Snow and I began a new book yesterday. 'Room at the Top' will be published by Loose Id later this year and it's a BDSM-based m/m/m romance.
This one's going to be fun. We spent a few weeks plotting it out and it's very different, no clubs, no dungeons, no vast store of equipment. BDSM on a budget in the 'burbs :-)
I don't want to give away the plot (mostly because they tend to change as we write) but the basic hook is the idea of two men, both submissives, falling in love and not wanting a third person in their relationship, but desperately needing a Dom.

Accidentally in Love

Just got the cover art for 'Accidentally in Love' written by Jane Davitt and Alexa Snow and due to be published on May 10th by Loose Id.
It's by April Martinez who's created all our Loose Id covers. We love her vision and imagination.
Move over, the Odd Couple! Tom's a virgin with a room to rent, Cal's a stud who needs a place to stay. What do they have in common? Only that they've never been in love. But that's all about to change.

Fresh Start out as an audiobook
A little while ago, Fresh Start, an m/f BDSM story of mine, appeared in the anthology Master Me, published by Total-E-Bound.
I'm thrilled to announce that Fresh Start is now available on its own as an audiobook. An e-book version will be available on May 16

Hourglass paperback
The mailman delivered my complimentary copy of Hourglass in paperback yesterday and I made room for it on the shelf. I go into the library sometimes and stare at that shelf with my books on it and have to pinch myself.
I ended up flipping through it, reading the chapter headings. I made up a TV show for this book (the two leads are actors and Hourglass is the show they were in when they met) and used scripts from the episodes, cast interviews, and such for the headings. They were supposed to be a few lines, that's all, but I got totally carried away. I ended up with eBay listing for props, rants from viewers when Hourglass was cancelled, horoscopes for the actors...so much fun
This is one of the chapter headings:
32 INT. YORK'S PENTHOUSE
York and Dolan enter, both carrying groceries in paper bags, mid-argument.
DOLAN I bumped into her! Total accident.
YORK Was it an accident that her wallet ended up in your hand?
DOLAN No! Is that what you want to hear? No. I did what I'm good at. The only thing I'm good at.
Dolan dumps his groceries on the first table he comes to, the bag falling and apples spilling out. They watch them fall and bounce, but neither man moves to pick them up. This is serious. Dolan's face is averted. York puts his bag down too, more carefully, and places his hands on Dolan's shoulders, turning the younger man to face him.
YORK (quietly) You gave it back. Without any word from me. That counts for something.
DOLAN (shakes his head and twists out of York's grasp) She thanked me. Said I was a good boy and not many people would be that honest.
YORK I know.
DOLAN (voice breaking) She tried to pay me.
YORK (sighs) I was there, Rob. I know that, too.
Dolan looks at him, pure misery in his eyes and then starts to cry, silently, his arms wrapped around his body.
YORK (helpless) Hey --
DOLAN (choked) I just -- for one moment I wanted to take it. Buy Julie something nice. Then I remembered she's gone.
YORK Rob --
Dolan's face contorts, anger rising through his grief.
DOLAN You didn't save her! What good are you and your damn hourglass if you couldn't save my sister? Why didn't you save her?
He flings himself at York, arms flailing as he tries to punch and fight the bigger man, but York just stands there, taking it all, and eventually Dolan stops, chest heaving, abject, miserable, and York silently draws him in for a hug, his expression unreadable.
END OF ACT TWO
[Extract from the script of 'Stolen Hour', episode 1.03 of 'Hourglass'. Air date September 22 1998]

E-readers
I had an e-reader for Christmas and I've discovered lots of sites that offer (totally legal) free downloads of books that're in the public domain or being offered free by the publisher/author. I'm addicted. I've been grabbing books with both hands, making little squeaky noises of glee. I love old books, like 1920s, 30s, 40s books, and especially childrens books/detectives from that era, and though sadly some of my top authors (the ones whose books are incredibly collectible) aren't available, I've picked up many new to me titles by authors I love.
Some sites I've found useful are the various Gutenberg ones and these two:

What's Next?
I've just started a solo novel, a contemporary m/m novel with the working title of 'Gambling on Love' set in Montana and then Las Vegas. I had it all plotted out but a lot changed once I began my research! I'm lucky enough to have an LJ friend who lives in the area I chose to set most of the book, something I'm glad I discovered now, not after I'd written it.
In May, another contemporary m/m novel I co-wrote with Alexa Snow, 'Accidentally in Love' will be published by Loose Id. We had a lot of fun with this one, which involves a playboy falling for a man with a whole lot less experience, to say the least.
Busy start to the year, but that's how I like it.

'Hourglass' coming soon
My new solo novel, edited by Vincent Diamond, is due out on December 22 from Torquere in print and as an e-book and I just got the cover art by Alessia Brio, which I love; so dramatic and striking.

When Ben Adler gives into his young daughter's wish to make a movie out of a TV show he used to produce, he knows he's going to have problems. One of the leads is a big star now, the other's vanished into obscurity -- and he can still remember how their scorching off-screen romance went up in flames.
Undeterred, Ben reunites Ash and Lee and the cameras start to roll -- but the main action takes place off set, as two men who could never get enough of each other deal with a rekindled attraction, and discover that when it comes to love, there's always time for a retake.
