Truthful Change now available for free

Truthful Change is now available for free download at AO3.

Truthful Change

It's got some rough sex and D/s games, and don't get confused by the fact you're meeting two different couples. All becomes clear pretty fast :-)

Laying a Ghost series available again!

With Loose Id closing, Alexa and I have been at a loss as what to do with all our books. We hate the idea that they might disappear but the ordeal of trekking around publishers with them or the difficulty of self-pubbing when we're two people in different countries was daunting.

So we've decided to upload some at least to Archive of Our Own where they can be downloaded for free. I did basic covers for the new editions on GR so just ignore those and focus on the words :-)

Laying a Ghost is here.

More will go live as we edit and upload.

Enjoy!

New! 'It's So Rewarding'

I was honored to be asked to contribute a story to DreamsMadeFlesh's Patreon and it went live today. It's femdom, which made a change, and I had a lot of fun with it. It's around 5k.

If you want to read it, you can see it here after becoming a Patron.

Current state of play

Now Loose Id has closed its doors, Alexa and I have a ton of books with no home and no outlet to sell them. Bear with us while we decide what to do. We're most concerned about an unreleased one, the sequel to Turn up the Heat. The contract was in the mail when LI decided no more new books, missing the cutoff by a day. Darn.

To be honest, I'm in a slump writing-wise. Royalties are so low that thank goodness this isn't what I rely on to eat and the market is saturated and I'm just one invisible drop. Meh.

Could be I go back to fanfic, though I'm missing a fandom along with my mojo. I was reading some of my fic and I'd forgotten how much fun I had with it. The smut just poured out, millions of words of it, heheh.

Do have some ideas though and writing isn't a job but an addiction so maybe I'll take the summer off and start fresh in the fall when my nest will be empty as both my kids will be at uni ::lip quivers::

See you all soon!

Two Things

First, like everyone in the m/m world, I've been horrified by the current situation with Santino Hassell. Never read their books, not been involved with them in any way, beyond sharing a publisher, so I haven't been personally affected by this, but to the victims and those who uncovered the deception and cruelty, I give my heartfelt sympathy and admiration for their strength during an ordeal that for some has lasted years.

Second, I am not an author who does much, if any, social networking. Never been to a convention, or done much to promote myself on Twitter and such. But if I needed to prove I was me, that the details I've shared here and there are legit, I could. People I've met online, friends from LJ, back in the day, have stayed at my house, including my co-author Alexa, and met my husband, daughters, and cats.

I'm exactly what I say I am, a middle-aged woman from England, living in Canada for the last 20 years, happily married, two daughters, two cats.

And now I'll get back to writing, but I just wanted to put those two things out there.

ETA, the headshot is five years old; I'm blonde now :-)

Spoiled for Choice

As most of you know, Loose Id is closing. They'd accepted Spoiled for Choice, the sequel to Turn Up the Heat, and I mailed the contract last week. Because it isn't with them yet, it's all been cancelled.

Alexa and I will think about what to do with it and all our many LI books once the rights are back with us.

So very sorry to lose them.

Spoiled was to be our last m/m for a while anyway, as some of you may know. We want to explore new avenues in our writing after 30 m/m romances, though we'll be back at some point, I'm sure. Just a little written out.

Spoken from the Heart available for free

Last of the freebie books!

It's at AO3 here:
Spoken from the Heart
or email me at jdavitt01@rogers.com for a copy.

Spoken from the Heart is an AU historical, with a country boy meeting an actor and romance, danger, passion and angst ensuing. I love this book. I'm not sure why exactly, but I do.
New cover, by me.

As an up and coming actor in the city of Sorrent, Julian always has the perfect words to say, even if someone else wrote them. But when it comes to wooing the innocent young country man he's rescued and befriended, he's going to find that the only words that count are spoken from the heart, not the page.Alex is innocent, eager to please, friendly, lovable -- and a trouble magnet. With the ducal court offering both temptations and danger, and the theater at risk from the duke's temper, both Alex and Julian find it difficult to separate friend from foe. Julian's ambitions drive him, even as his heart tries to lead the way, and Alex tumbles from one scrape to the next as the city swelters in the summer heat and sickness stalks the streets. When Julian is faced with an impossible choice that will change his life, he's left with no script to follow, no stage direction to guide him. But if they're to make it unscathed and take a final bow, they'll need to be sure of only one thing. Each other.

Wintergreen now available for free

Wintergreen is now available for free download at Archive of Our Own. If you're not a member looks like you can read but not d/l. Well worth joining (it's free).

Happy to email the book(s) to anyone who wants a copy.
I'm jdavitt01@rogers.com

Hope you like the new covers on the books!

I have one more freebie to edit, but it'll have to wait until I've finished editing the new one Alexa and I have just written.

Wintergreen

Tyler and Dan are heading off on a vacation in this sequel to Wild Raspberries, but life has a way of throwing a wrench into even the best laid plans. All work and no play makes Dan restless and bored, waiting for Tyler to complete a task for his former boss, Cole. The job is an important one, for sure. Tyler is looking for a traitor, responsible for the deaths of several agents. That doesn't make being ignored any easier to deal with, and Dan wonders if their relationship is strong enough to last through the lull.

When the job finally ends, Dan is more than ready to go with Tyler to see the sights. He expects beaches, mountains, sun and surf. Instead, Dan is thrown headlong into Tyler's world, where death is a heartbeat away, not a lifetime, and the man he loves is the one dealing it out. Can Dan learn to live with what he finds out, or will he have to make his way back to a life that he ran away from?

Wild Raspberries now available for free

I'd already part-edited Wild Raspberries so it didn't take too long. The sequel Wintergreen will take a week or so to get ready.

When runaway Daniel Seaton inadvertently trespasses on Tyler Edward's land, Tyler nearly shoots him on sight.

Tyler's got a lot of years under his belt, and his past doesn't let him accept strangers easily. Dan's situation is dire enough that Tyler takes him home, at least for a little while, and that turns out to be a good decision when Tyler's injured and needs Dan's help.

Tyler's learning to trust, and Dan's settling in to a new life, but things aren't always what they seem. Between interfering friends, injuries, and their attraction to each other, Tyler and Dan have plenty of to deal with even before Tyler's previous career returns to haunt them. Can they overcome what lies in the past to have a future with each other?

Drawing Closer now available for download

I've edited and posted the new version of Drawing Closer to Archive of Our Own, where it can be downloaded for free in all the usual formats. It's a contemporary light BDSM romance.

Eleven years on, I'm still proud of it. As first novels go, it's a great novella :-)
