I'm English by birth, but I moved to Canada twenty years ago, so I have two places I call home. I started writing in my thirties, hammering out millions of words of fanfic with a growing sense that yes, this was something I could do, wanted to do, needed to do.

A decade ago, I became a professional writer of m/m romance and I've never regretted my choice of career. Back then, telling people what I wrote got me raised eyebrows or puzzled looks. Times have changed. Now m/m romance is thriving and I'm happy to be one of the many writers contributing to this always evolving and expanding genre.

Alexa and I have all the rights back to our Loose Id books since they sadly went out of business last month, but we haven't decided what to do with them yet, including the sequel to Turn up the Heat which was on the verge of publication when LI stopped taking new books.

It's not something we have immediate plans to write but we haven't ruled it out completely. We do have a tendency to prefer trilogies; we just finished a third one in the Square Peg series, then there's the Laying a Ghost trilogy.

I get hung up on the real world reactions. I live in the suburbs like Liam and I know the kind of gossip there'd be, and how it would affect his position at work. In m/m romances there's not always much of a middle ground; people are violently homophobic or 100 percent accepting, but I think in reality a lot of people would be okay with it but definitely not averse to a lot of 'did you hear about the situation at number 30? Shouldn't be allowed if you ask me,' while still smiling and waving when they saw Liam and the boys in the street.

That's harder to combat than outright prejudice and more insidious.

And we could write it. Family, work and neighbor confrontations, dealing with the repercussions for a new relationship...but it doesn't sound like fun. To be a satisfying read, there have to be obstacles to overcome, but too many gets exhausting.

But maybe. Maybe one day. (less)

“His expression softened, which made Sterling's throat tighten just a little. “You've cannonballed into the deep end when you don't know how to swim, haven't you?”
Sterling looked at him solemnly and smiled. “Yes,” he said. “Don't let me drown.”

“He knew Doms who never sucked off their subs, claiming that it upset the power dynamic too much, tangled the lines drawn. To his mind, that was nonsense. He was in complete control here, just like he would be when it was Sterling's mouth on his cock, fervent, worshipful, obedient. Hell, if he ever wanted to, he could order Sterling to spank him and still be clearly, unmistakably, the one calling the shots”
