Weekend Roundup

It was a good weekend, I’m finally closing in on the end of OBSESSION. Then it’ll need some revising and clean up before I send it to the editor.  I’m too close to even guess if the book is working or not so I won’t comment on that  But man, getting time to write is tough. Sunday was good though as Wizard ran some errands for me so I could write. He’s awesome like that.

What’s not so awesome is he lured me out to the pool. But that would be okay, basically just a break. But Wizard wasn’t finished with his master plan. He then made us a gin and tonics and I ended up staying out there too long when I should have been working. Bad Wizard!

And finally when I went back to “work” Wizard caught me looking at French bulldog rescue sites. I was busted, LOL! I tried to convince him it was research, but I don’t think he bought that story.

We’re just days away from the wedding now!

Once again it’s Friday and I don’t know how we got here! Time is flying by.  One week from tomorrow is CPA Boy and Special K’s wedding. I’m really excited, so excited I’m going to the doctor’s Monday and will probably get a shot in my foot so I can stand for longer periods of time.  Usually he does the shot right on top on the bone which isn’t super pleasant but totally worth it.

Speaking of dr appts, yesterday I went and did my routine blood work that keeps my doctor happy.  This is no big deal, my biggest gripe is that I have to drive twenty or thirty minutes or each way which is annoying when I’m in the process of a deadline whizzing by me. But I went,  got it done with minimal fuss, and decided to reward myself with a non-fat latte. So I drive to Starbucks, tear off the stupid bright purple tape wrapped around my arm and toss it in the trash can on my way in the door. I get in line and then look down.

I have blood running down my freaking arm.

Yeah, I’m all kinds of classy.

So there I am in Starbucks, trying to staunch this bleeding, juggling my walling and ordering

And this is exactly why I just try to stay home. I can’t even get a coffee without humiliating myself.  As it turned out I still had the wad of gauze in my hand-no idea why I didn’t throw it in the trash like with the tape. So I slapped that one the stupid bleeder, bent my arm and tried to look like I was normal and my arm wasn’t smeared with blood.

Once I left the coffee shop the bleeding magically stopped.

Wednesday Worthy

Yesterday Wizard called me randomly and said, “Are you sitting at your desk typing and making me money?”

“I was eating lunch.” Or possible a cookie but Wizard is strictly on a need to know basis.

“Slacker, get back to work and make me money.”

Getting annoyed, I said, “But the computer is acting up. It’s slow and I don’t want a new one. But this one is pissing me off.”

“Witch, I’m hearing whining but no typing.”

Why do I answer the phone when he calls?  I mean I can see right there on the call ID it’s him. Yet I answer the phone every single time. Sigh. I need another cookie.

Seriously my computer is being a pain. I’m trying to get through my deadlines before I buy a new one and have to move everything and learned the new operating system.

Yeah yeah I hear you all telling me to quit whining just like Wizard.

Weekend Roundup

I had a surprisingly good weekend.  Wizard and I played on Saturday, doing some shopping, looking at model homes (just for fun) and going to the movies. We laughed so hard at the movie–We Are The Millers–because we clearly have the emotional maturity of a twelve-year-old

Sunday I worked straight through, trying to get a sex scene right.  Still not sure it’s right but I have to move on today.

Where did the week go? I can’t believe it’s Friday!

I’m deep in the book and  working through an emotional scene that’s taking for-freaking-ever to figure out.  In the meantime, I stumbled onto a debate about Self Publishing vs. Traditional Publishing. I see this LONG stream of comments of writers defending their positions more and more passionately. This always makes me shake my head in bewilderment for two reasons:

1) Why aren’t the commentators off writing their books?

2) Why do we need others to validate our career choices so very much?

But whatever, I don’t have time to worry about it too much. I have books due and these suckers refuse to write themselves

So, what’s up with you all? Any exciting weekend plans?

Wednesday Worthy

I’m working around ants — this year has been the worst! We’re trying everything and I’m sick of pulling everything out of cupboards and pantries to attack and clean! Then there was a wild-fire in the hills behind us.  The fire is much better, we’re not worried now as long as it doesn’t flare up suddenly.  The ants, however, are resilient  and determined little suckers.

It’s like a conspiracy against this poor book with all these distractions.

Weekend Roundup!

So sorry for not posting Friday.  I tried to post Friday morning but my website wasn’t working.  It was very frustrating! Then the day got too busy since BLB, Middle Son and Bailey dog came out for my birthday. That was a blast. CPA son couldn’t come but he called and did all the usual good son stuff

BLB got me a very cool coffee grinder for my birthday, which I love.  But the best present of all from him was that he helped me work out something I need at the end of OBSESSION.   Now my pages are really flowing because I know what I’m aiming for.  The only real problem now is finding time to write.

Saturday was Special K’s bridal shower. It was lovely and fun.

Sunday I finally had time to write!

Insomnia is my unwanted house guest right now, but I’m ignoring him hoping he gets bored and leaves.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. My brother is doing pretty well now. Everything should be fine.

Weekend Roundup!

So sorry for not answering Friday–it got a little crazy including a pretty serious health scare with my brother.  We’ll find out more today, but I think he will be okay.  In all the activity, I just didn’t get to answering the blog.  But I read all the comments, I always do.

Aside from my brother, the weekend was great. Friday morning,  I got my hair done. My hairdresser is a long time friend and we talked about how to wear my hair for the wedding. I always wear my hair the same, but I might have her put it up just for the change.  Now you’d think this would be the end of her advice, right?

Nope, she went on to lecture me about my fish belly white legs. She was offended at my calves–not at how huge they are, but how white. I laughed…but I’m also getting out in the pool  So her lecture worked!

The rest of the weekend was spent on:

–Engaging in an epic battle with ants. They are currently in retreat but I think they are actually in strategic planning for a new attack.

–My regularly scheduled panic attack about the book.  (Wizard deserves a medal for living with this!)

–Spending awesome time in the pool. That pool is saving my sanity.

–Hours of phone calls for Special K’s (Oldest Son’s fiancée’s)  bridal shower next Saturday. Wizard’s two sisters spearheaded it and I’m very excited.  But stuff like this is always a time suck — however Special K is totally worth it!

–Break through on book and real pages written. Majorly stunned and I’m not going to jinx it by talking about it anymore. Hope it keeps working!

–Then while writing those magical pages (see above) I decided to go get a latte, but came home with two pairs of shoes instead. As I was driving, I just randomly decided to stop by the Naturalizer store to look for sandals.  Shoes are a major problem for me due to the RA and left foot and ankle aren’t doing well right now. But because miracles were happening on Sunday, I found sandals  AND shoes that I think I can wear to the wedding. They match the dress so well! Here’s a pic a couple pics:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The wedge heel is higher than it looks in that picture.  I’m going to wear them around the house and see if they work. But I think they will and I’m thrilled.

This is just a little bit of all the stuff going on.  I’m really trying to write around all constantly shifting chaos.   And by the way, when I spontaneously decided to to the shoe store–I was dressed in shorts and a tank top along with wild hair, so of course I ran into someone I haven’t seen in years. Figures, right?

In the meantime here’s one of my all time favorite cards…I’ve actually told Wizard this:

When I say this to him, Wizard just tells me to eat brownies and I’ll feel better. He’s wrong–I ate brownies and now I just feel fat and even less like a princess.
