Wing Slayer Worthy and Happy 4th!

Hey! Okay so I finally saw the eye doc yesterday.  My eyes are inflamed and a mess.  Long story short, I’m going to have to take my contacts out more and deal with wearing my too-weak glasses as much as possible to clear this up. Then she’ll retest me to hopefully order new glasses and contacts. She gave me temporary contacts for now.

Problem: I really can’t see out of my glasses. I can watch TV, but not read or work on the computer.

Umm, hello, July 15th deadline? Anyone know how fast that’s coming? Yeah…it’s fun to be me. But fortunately, I’m pretty sure I can manage this. I just wont be reading books or hanging out online. As long as I limit the time I can actually see with my contacts, I’ll get the book revised and polished.

Okay enough about me! Tomorrow is a holiday in the states, so Happy Fourth of July to all of you!

Right now, working with former Marine characters in my current book, I’m feeling very patriotic, LOL!

Now onto our hunk candidate:

Aye or Nay on Wing Slayer Worthy?

For those of you celebrating, Have a Great Fourth!

Weekend Roundup

One evening last week, me, Wizard BLB and Bailey were sitting around watching TV. Bailey jumped on Wizard’s lap.  Wizard was petting him when he looked up and said, “This is the longest Bailey has ever been here. When is he going home?”

“He is home. He lives here now,” I said.

Wizard frowned, looked at BLB then me, and said, “You’re lying.”

“You sure? I mean look around,”  I waved my hand at the family room filled with dog toys and assorted stuff. It looked like a pet store threw up in there.

Wizard stared at me.  “He can’t live here, witch.”

I shrugged. “Looks like he is. But feel free to take him back to the boys’ house. He can visit them for awhile.”

Wizard heaved a big sigh. “Why do you mess with me?”

Because it’s so much fun! However, yesterday, BLB and I took Bailey home to his other house.  Now I’m home writing this blog and missing Bailey! And I know once Wizard gets home, he’s going to grumble about missing “the stupid dog” too.

Otherwise, my weekend has been fine. I’m starting the revising process on my manuscript. I’ve learned that I apparently like torturing heroes whether they are in the paranormal or contemporary genre. That may not be part of my personality I want to brag about, LOL!

Today (Monday) I’m taking BLB to get his stitches out. I suspect he’ll be cleared to drive. But now reality is setting in, and it’s coming time for some hard decisions to help BLB secure a future.  However, at least he has a future so there is a lot to be grateful for.

How was your weekend?

Happy Friday

It’s Friday! Yay!

I wish I had a great blog today, but I just don’t. So instead, I have this:

I can’t decide what I think of this picture. Any opinions?

Have a great weekend!

Wing Slayer Worthy

Yesterday afternoon, I finished my draft! I’m happy dancing. It needs real work, I don’t know if it’s anywhere near resembling a good story, but I have a first draft.  I’m sure I’ll be having major anxiety attacks over whether this is good enough, whether I should develop it into a series…all he craziness that goes on in my head at the revision and polish stage

But right now, I am just happy that I was able to do this much. I’ve been writing around so many difficult things lately, that I’m trying to stop and looked at what I’ve accomplished instead of what I haven’t.

Okay enough of that, let’s move on to today’s candidate:

What do you think? Is he Wing Slayer Worthy?

Weekend Roundup

I can’t believe it’s Monday! The weekend was good. BLB is doing really well, getting around with a cane mostly right now. He’ll  probably walking on his own again soon. He’s pushing it a bit, but he’s smart and knows his limits.

Bailey’s been here all weekend, and still here today. Not sure when we’ll take him home. He’s just hanging and happy. In fact, this is what he looked like last night after a busy day of lizard hunting in the back yard:

As for my, by Saturday I needed to work, and Wizard and BLB were absolutely great about it, so I got a lot done. I’m heading to the ending scenes in my draft. I’ll have it done in a few days. That will give me time to revise and clean up before my July 15th deadline.

I’m also addicted to the New Species Series by Laurann Dohner.  I’m on VALIANT which is book three.

So how was your weekend?

I’m Late and Update

I just didn’t have the energy to write a blog last night, sorry!

BLB’s surgery went fine.  Once BLB was out, the surgeon manipulated the leg into a full bend, breaking scar tissue.  He said there is no way BLB could have tolerated that awake, even with pain meds.  The doc was so proud of this, he took a picture of the bent leg with his phone and showed us.

Then he went into the leg and methodically cleaned out all the scar tissue. We know exactly what he did because he showed us more pictures he took with the camera inside BLB’s knee. We now have a pretty clear picture of BLB’s injury, LOL! Seriously though, this should give BLB more range of motion with the leg and allow him to walk better.  It wasn’t all great news, there are issues BLB will have to deal with. But he can do it.

As an example of how tough BLB is, a few hours after we got home, BLB took one dose of pain meds then got sick. Through the night and yesterday he couldn’t get pain meds down. The only thing we got down him was two doses of Tylonal, and a half of one pain pill over about a 36 hour  period. He tolerated the pain amazingly well. The nurse from the surgery center called to check up on him and could not believe he was doing it.

Today is better as our Secret Weapon his here, Bailey Dog along with oldest son! BLB is so happy.

Now I have to work! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Wing Slayer Worthy

As I write this, everything is set for BLB to have his surgery today, probably around 11 a.m.  I’ll get to the comments when I can, I promise!

For now, here’s the candidate:

Weekend Roundup

Great weekend and a nice Father’s Day for Wizard! But I’m eating too much.  And FYI–freezing home made chocolate dipped peanut butter balls just makes them BETTER! They are really good frozen. Don’t try this at home unless you’re trying to gain weight :-)   I’m worried I’m sliding into my old bad habits and really going to try to get better control this week.

For a very long time I’ve been having headaches that make me miserable, occasionally wake me up at night and often screw with my vision. I’m starting to think I might have to do something about them. I don’t understand why my duel method of Ignore and Deny seems to be failing. First though, I’m going  to see  my eye doc and getting a new prescription. Eye strain could be part of it for sure. Then  I’m going to try to wait to see my RA doc on the headaches as my GP isn’t the brightest bulb out there. (Just trust me on this–it’s true and very scary). I will be changing GPs once I get BLB all taken care of.

So I’m more than 3/4s done with draft of the contemporary. This is the part where I look down and realize, “Wow, it’s actually coming together in a raw, unpolished way.” I swear to you, I’m shocked Every Single Time I actually realize I might pull off the book I’m writing.  I’m not exactly sure how I’ll bring the last 50 – 60 pages together, but it seems POSSIBLE now.  I’m going to try hard today and tomorrow to map out and write as much as I can before BLB’s surgery on Wednesday.

How was your weekend?

Bath Fail :-)

We did BLB’s pre-op appointment,  and he’s all set for surgery sometime next Wednesday. They will call us the day before the with the time. Which frankly sucks, but there’s nothing we can do to change it. This is how the outpatient surgery center works…evidently it’s a Need To Know Basis, and they have determined we don’t need to know the time.

I’m doing my best to write.  And Wizard, well as I write this blog, he’s upstairs cleaning more blinds. He’s finished all the downstairs ones.  Tonight I finally asked him, “Uh is there something I should know? Like we’re selling the house?”

He just grinned and said, “Go write your book, Witch. You stick to what you’re good at and let me handle what I’m good at.”

Alrighty, then…

And this picture Bailey sent me with the message, “Witch, please come rescue me! Hurry!” (And this is not my bathroom! Just feel the need to clear that up)

Have a great weekend, and Happy Father’s Day!

Wing Slayer Worthy

Today is BLB’s pre-op appointment, and if everything goes well, his surgery will be late next week. The poor guy, he can’t work right now, can’t stand on the leg long enough, and so he’s bored. He really wants to get this done. I just hope it helps enough to give him more mobility and less pain.

I’m trying to write as fast as I can. Unfortunately there are so many other things I have to do too that’s part of the job. I need to prepare my portion of a dialogue workshop, give my web designer enough to design the Apodaca page,  I need to be posting on FB and can’t find the time…in fact, today, I’m probably going to skip the gym. I hate doing that, but something has to give.

Enough whining! In fact, if I cut out whining, I could get more done, LOL!

Here’s today’s WSW Candidate:
