Wednesday Worthy

This is wild. We haven’t even started out official promo of OBSESSION yet (Carla and I are both a little frazzled right now) and the book just took off.  Here’s what I know — there’s just no predicting what will happen with a book.

Readers are in control.

And these days with self publishing, I think readers have even more say in what takes off and what doesn’t. It used to be we (readers)  were at the mercy of what the publishers and book buyers in the bookstores decided to put out for the public to see.

But now readers can find any book they want to online. That gives them more power than ever. As a reader, I really love that!

But enough of my rambling :-)  Just to let you all know, I think the official blog tour starts on the 14th. I’ll get that info up soon. Now let’s move on!

Here’s our Wednesday Worthy candidate that I snagged from Twitter.  Say hello to Hugh Jackman:

Weekend Roundup

It was a crazy weekend! OBSESSION is live at all the vendors except iTunes (it takes longer there), and it absolutely stunned me with how well it’s doing.  Thank you all so much! I couldn’t do this without you guys!

Then Saturday I went to the mall and lunch with Biker Witch. We were celebrating her birthday and just having a fun day. Oddly enough we didn’t get into any trouble. We’ve stayed out of trouble for something like a year now, which is a major record for us.  Trouble tends to follow Biker Witch around, that’s all I’m saying :-)  The day was awesome! And FYI to Biker Witch, you still owe me a coffee!

Then Sunday Wizard and I went to CPA Boy and Special K’s house, then we all went to Middle Son and Girlfriend’s place at the beach. Girlfriend made us a delicious dinner and I quickly realized she’s a better cook than me. I mean much better! I love that. Pesto pasta and chicken–it was fabulous.

But you know what the best part was? SEEING BAILEY DOG!! He’s doing great! We were all hanging out with Bailey.

Here are buy links for OBSESSION for anyone who wants them Kindle / Nook / Kobo

Happy Friday!

I got most of the formatted files back for  OBSESSION last night and have started the process of setting those up to publish.   I ran into a problem with Kobo and will try to solve that today.  There’s always something. Could just be a glitch too.

I”m not even going to talk about how writing is going. Let’s just say I really need a day off! Which is good timing  because Biker Witch (my sister) and I are going  out tomorrow to find some trouble…or at least some cake!

So what are you all doing this weekend?

News and Wednesday Worthy

I’ve been holding off on announcing this, but since we’re working on the contract now, I guess it’s “safe” to announce.  I’ve sold the German rights to The Plus One Chronicles to Egmont LYX, the same German publisher that publishes Maya Banks, Lisa Renee Jones, and many others.

I am thrilled! I never imagined I’d sell foreign rights like this.  They contacted me, asking to read THE PROPOSITION  and POSSESSION.  I was so busy writing the third book and oldest son’s wedding that I didn’t think about it too much…until the editorial director contacted me.  I gave them a synopsis of OBSESSION and they made an offer.

Oh, and the German editor has read OBSESSION and likes it! Yay! She read it as soon as I got it to her last weekend, LOL!

Quick Reminder: OBSESSION should be up at most venders around Oct. 10th.  I’m just waiting on the formatter now!

So that’s my news. Now lets switch to Wednesday Worthy. This is one of our “old friends”:

Weekend Roundup

Wizard is making me fat, it’s all his fault.  I just feel the need to say that.  And when I tell him that, he laughs and says he loves me anyway.

Men.

If that wasn’t enough, he also told me he thinks I shouldn’t go back to the gym for LONGER than six weeks (stupid Achilles).

And then…THEN he took me out for a lunch that included french fries. I never eat French Fries.

All Wizard’s Fault!

Okay…maybe it’s my fault for ordering the French fries.  But it’s much more satisfying to blame him. (Trust me, it’s fair since he blames me for stuff all the time!)

Sigh…so this weekend was mostly work as I’m rewriting the opening pages of COWBOY MARINE. Hey, we all knew it was going to happen :-)  I’m not happy until I’ve torn a story apart and rewritten it a couple times.  I’m still not happy, but I’m getting closer.

This weekend, we didn’t see RUSH but we rented the Jackie Robinson movie, 42.  It started out a bit slow for me, then picked up and I really liked it.

Last thing, the first review for OBSESSION came in from Reading in Pajamas  It’s a five star review that said, Heart-wrenching, emotional, suspenseful and filled with danger and passion. This trilogy is incredible! Obsession is the perfect ending for The Plus One Chronicles.  I’m thrilled and relieved! I hope readers agree.  I tried but in the end, it’s up to readers to decide.

Happy Friday!

What…how did we get to Friday again? This is crazy! Where did the week go?

In case you missed it on Twitter and FB, if you can read an excerpt from OBSESSION here.  The book is at the formatters, so now I’m just waiting. It’ll be a long wait :-)

In other news, my Achilles is healing great now. I technically should wait one more week before going back to the gym–we’ll see. I can walk pretty much without pain now but I know I should wait the full six weeks just to be sure. Plus I’m going to have to start slow and it’s going to hurt and be frustrating.

All this means Wizard is off the hook for cleaning showers and vacuuming :-) Man I could get used to him doing all that! He was really sweet about it, but I’m starting to feel guilty. So this weekend I’ll just clean bathrooms myself, and of course, work. Oh and we might go see a movie–Wizard wants to see RUSH.

What are you all doing?

Wednesday Worthy

I want the cooler weather back! But today is supposed to cool off so I’ll stop complaining.  I’m getting my Obsession file ready for the formatter and working on Cowboy Marine. And wow, getting back into Cowboy Marine is hard. I’m in my usual, write-delete-bang head on desk-write, then bake/eat/whine phase of starting a book. So all is normal in my house. Here’s a sample of “normal” in our house:

As we were cooking dinner the other night, Wizard said, “Something wrong witch?”

“No, why?”

“You’re staring off into space. And muttering to yourself. I think you just said something about Doughboy fish hooks.”

Jerking out of my fugue, I stared at him. “That makes no sense. Why would I say that?”

Getting down a couple wine glasses, he asked, “Then what did yous say?”

“Nothing.” I wasn’t in the mood to share my deep personal thoughts.

‘Fine, I’m not pouring you wine if you won’t tell me.”

Damn it. “Cheater.”

“I prefer the term winner. Spill or no wine.”

I’d have accused him of Blackmail but he had custody of the wine bottle, so I caved. “Okay I said ‘cowboy fish hooks.” Where the heck did he get doughboy fish hooks? That’s just silly.

Wizard rolled his eyes and poured my wine. “Yeah, that makes so much more sense.”

“Try living in my head.” Hmm, that might have been snappish.

“I’m going to need more wine for that.”

Sadly, I’m going to have to agree with that. Although my drug of choice tends be coffee. But wine works too :-)

And now, here’s our candidate for Wednesday Worthy!

Weekend Roundup

**Once again my blog failed to post as scheduled. I don’t know what’s going on with it.  Sorry it’s late!**

Beautiful weather this weekend! Yesterday I blew off work to read and go in the hot tub with Wizard. I’ll pay for it today, but it was worth it!

So Laura Wright finished reading/proofing OBSESSION in record time.  There were only a few typos, which were super easy fixes.  She pointed out one thing that may bother some readers, so I’m thinking about that. My problem is that it’s exactly what Sloane would say during an argument with Kat.  This is one of those tough calls that I’m thinking about for a day or so before I decide. It didn’t bother my editor–it’s one of those things that will irritate or anger some but not others. In the end, I’ll just have to go with my gut and hope for the best.

And here’s what Laura posted on Goodreads about OBSESSION:

WARNING: Make sure you go to the bathroom and have snacks on hand because YOU’RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP UNTIL IT’S OVER!

I hope that’s true :-)

So how was your weekend?

Happy Friday!

I can’t believe it’s Friday again!

My editor already sent back the second round out of edits on OBSESSION.  She’s fast! She says the books “shines.” I’m trying to believe her :-) Right now, I’m finishing small edits and weaving in a couple tiny suggestions that she had and then I’ll send off to my proofreader.

So what are you all reading? I’m having trouble finding a book I like, but I *really* think that’s more about my restless mood than to books. I’d love to hear what you’re reading!

Wednesday Worthy

Happy Wednesday! I sent OBSESSION to the editor yesterday for the second round of edits. I’m thrilled about that.  My friend Laura Wright asked me if I’m happy with it–I think she does that just to watch me swing wildly between “I think I am” to “OMG what if it totally sucks?” I mean she’s known me for many years now so she’s just screwing with me, right?

Speaking of Laura, did you guys know that the book collections she’s in WICKED FIRSTS has been on the NYT and USA Today list for three weeks? It may even hit again this week. That collection of sexy hot stories is awesome! And I’m so proud of, and excited for, all six of the amazing authors of that collection!

Today I have to go to a routine doctor appointment then I’m meeting Biker Witch (my sister) for coffee. We haven’t done that in forever, so I’m looking forward to it! I’m soooo happy to get out of the house! I’ve been pretty close to house bound for three and a half weeks with the stupid Achilles thing.  But I’m healing and can almost walk normal if I’m careful.

Once I get home it’s back to The Cowboy Marine. I’m liking this story but I need to write faster!

Okay today’s candidate is a rerun. This is one of my personal favorite pics.
