Generosity of Spirit – Someone Spiked the Punch!

You will discover that you have two hands. One is for helping yourself and the other is for helping others.” – Audrey Hepburn

During the holidays it’s like someone spiked the punch with goodness! We get drunk on it, but what happens when that buzz of gratitude and giving wears off after the holidays and you are left with a post holiday season hangover? As January 1st of the New Year rolls around and it’s back to business as usual, do you find yourself desensitized after all that giving goodness? Does your perspective change when you see someone on a street-corner with a sign reading “Hungry and Homeless” or you see someone in front of Starbucks wanting something hot to drink on a cold day? Here is my question, “Is holiday goodness a short term high, or is it something that you engender all year as generosity of spirit?” I understand we can’t help everyone, but we can listen to our inner promptings that guide and direct us.

My husband and I were discussing generosity of spirit and how prevalent this quality is during the holiday season. We tend to be more tolerant, involved in activities we may not take time for year-round. The holiday ‘spirit’ is an energetic magnetization, a feeling we grew up with, a time of gratitude, serving others, spreading joy and celebrating. Every culture has their holiday celebrations and follow a similar pattern. Generosity of spirit is a state of being, a quality within us we extend to others. In my mind it’s quite a courageous quality.

The holidays are not anticipated by everyone. There are people dealing with illness or suffering from loss and grief. All especially difficult during the holiday season. Some struggle to hold down jobs, pay bills and keep up with daily life. There are people living with loneliness, depression and isolation. How can we be a beacon of light for them?

Kindness is Key! Sometimes all people need is a sympathetic ear, an encouraging word or to hear a story that adds perspective in alignment with what they are going through. Some of the happiest people I know have a generosity of spirit that has nothing to do with money. Money is simply energy and how we direct that energy aligns us with it. Abundance is everywhere if we are open to receiving it. Generosity of spirit is sharing the goodness life brings our way. Look what happened to Scrooge – Transformation! Love and kindness do that.

Year Round Tips on Generosity of Spirit:

Give without anticipating anything in return.
Be mindful to extend kindness to yourself, just as you would extend kindness to others. It all starts with you!
Take responsibility for your actions by making conscious choices. Respect others for their choices, regardless of their beliefs or lifestyle. It’s their life, not yours. Living your life as an example says more than mere words.
Be compassionate, kind and mindful in all you do as you give of yourself. It shows your humanity, letting others know you support them in living their best life.
Never be jealous or envious of the happiness or good fortune of others. Make your own!
Engage with your generosity of spirit. Allow yourself to receive. What you give out comes back.
Express gratitude when others support you.

True Generosity of Spirit

True Generosity of Spirit? by Guest Author Robert Clancy

“May your day begin with a beautiful sunrise; may your year end with happiness and smiles; may…
Click To Tweet

Gratitude is more than just giving thanks; it’s giving all the love in your heart to those who are dear to you and all the beauty in your life. It’s true that most find the holidays stressful, especially when finances are tight, but time spent family above all is priceless. ??You never know who might not be sitting at your holiday gathering next year. A little over a year ago my brother’s daughter suddenly passed away from complications due to type-1 diabetes while attending her second semester at college. The previous year, my father passed away and two years prior to that my mother passed. Both my niece and mother had infectious smiles continuously painted upon their faces that would always light up our holidays. My father’s sense of humor was a staple dish with dinner too. After grace he would always ask, “Who’s hungry?” followed with “Well…look in the mirror and get fed up.” We’d all smirk, shake our heads and say, “Good one Pop!” To which he’d reply, “I’ll pop yah!” Not having them all with us, especially during the holidays, has left a large void in our hearts. I know first hand what that kind of grief can do to a family, but my parents raised my siblings and I to be strong, to take life head on, and to always know that our true gifts come from our hearts.

I hope you take this lesson of the heart from my playbook: Life is too precious to live it in sorrow. Let your tears become the droplets from a sun shower. Allow a smile to be your next sunrise. God made your soul from those glimmering stars in the heavens, and you should always shine. Letting go of grief isn’t about letting go of your precious loved one, it’s about creating more room in your heart for the love that you have for them. If you are experiencing great sorrow, then you must have a very big heart. Isn’t it time to refill it with that beautiful love? Isn’t it time to share that love loving bond with everyone around you?

The greatest gift you can give this holiday isn’t a present—it’s your presence. You may cherish a loving memory from the past, but why not embrace someone right now to create a loving reality.

Do you want to know what the most beautiful gifts this world has? Just open someone’s heart with kindness and you’ll know them all. Take pause to enjoy the little things this holiday.

You are the gift!

Find Freedom and Inner Peace With Forgiveness

VARIOUS TYPES OF INCENSE WITH TEAPOT AND BUDDHA STATUE

Guest article by Cheri Valentine – Is there someone in your life who has hurt you? Is it time for you to let go of the hurt and what is is doing to you?

Almost everyone has been hurt by the words or actions of someone else whether in the past or currently. It can leave you feeling heavy, a victim, shamed or even guilty.  We often persecute ourselves over and over again when someone has wronged us by reliving it in our thoughts, telling others about it, holding onto the hurt and pain.

So the secret to your own personal freedom is forgiveness.

Forgiveness does not excuse what the other person did. It does say that what they did is okay or acceptable. You don’t forgive to free the other person. You forgive to free yourself from pain caused by holding anger, resentment, disappointment, sadness and hurt. Forgiveness offers you health, happiness and inner peace. You want to forgive, not to let someone else off the hook, but to give yourself peace.  Forgiveness is your gift to yourself.

Sometimes the person you most need to forgive is yourself. This can be far more difficult to do. I have discovered that often underlying our sense of value, is a critical voice directed inward. So many of my clients have been struggling in some area because of a perception that they don’t deserve what they want or have. Underlying this is a deep loathing or blame that they have let others down or failed at something.

It is usually for something that was never their responsibility in the first place, nor realistic that they could do this. In my personal and professional experience, I have found that self-forgiveness is the most difficult forgiveness of all and also the most rewarding.

Whether you need to forgive someone else or yourself, please set some time aside and choose one of the following suggestions to begin your journey through forgiveness into freedom and inner peace.

1. Tapping (EFT)

Tapping (EFT) is a powerful technique used by doctors, psychologists, therapists, chiropractors, hypnotherapists, life coaches, and healing professionals worldwide. It is fast and the results are often dramatic and long lasting. In fact, it often works when nothing else will. It can be very effective  on a variety of issues from stress, pain, overwhelm, procrastination, phobias, and low self worth.

Tapping (EFT) balances the energy system with gentle tapping on the face and body, which stimulates designated meridian endpoints to increase the flow of energy in your body. It is a gentle tapping technique that disperses the negative energy in your body as a result of physical and emotional trauma and experiences.

In this video, I lead you through a tapping sequence for forgiveness.

2. Soul Letter

Writing a letter of forgiveness is a great place to start. In the book, “Get Unstuck” by John Seeley, there is template for a soul letter.  I have written several and so have many of my clients. Writing and burning them has freed them on so many levels. Their lives, happiness and health expanded when they were able to release the emotional turmoil they were storing with anger, resentment and disappointment. It became easier to focus their vision and goals.

These letters are not written to be given to anyone, they are for your eyes only, to release and let go of your inner turmoil and pain. You are guided with prompts arranged in specific order to take you from a very low vibration of energy to the highest vibration – that of love.

Once you have completed the letter, find a quiet space and read the letter out loud with the intention of letting go and releasing all the energy you may be holding. Read the letter over and over until there is no emotion left. I like to add the benefits of tapping on the EFT points as I am reading the letter. After you finish reading the letter out loud, burn it, signifying letting go and completion.

3. Ho’oponopono

Ho’oponopono  (ho-o-pono-pono) is based on an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness.  Although the practice as I will share with you is a modern version, its roots lie in the belief that all past debts must be forgiven and released.

By practicing Ho’oponopono you are clearing and cleaning the energy of programming at the karmic, generational and unconscious levels. You are connecting to the God, Source, Divine, Higher Power or Self of your beliefs.  It is a very powerful practice of forgiveness.

When I started to practice ho’oponopono when I was feeling anger or guilt towards someone, I experienced more peace, and noticed relationships improving.

You practice ho’oponopono by calling to a mind a person or event that causes you distress or brings up negative emotions for you. Then you repeat the following phrases:  I’m sorry.  Please forgive me.  Thank you.  I love you. You repeat these 4 sentences over and over until you feel peace, calm or a shift in your energy and emotional state. I like to also add tapping through the EFT points as you repeat the phrases.

I have done this while driving, walking, sitting at my desk, and lying in bed.  Whenever I feel the need, I will say these words over and over again, until I feel peace or an energetic shift.  I am always amazed at how my interactions and relationships shift dramatically and also my own energy and health improve.

4. Practice Gratitude

This is probably not the first time you have heard this, yet is bears repetition. Gratitude raises your frequency and brings more into your life. Focusing on what is good in your life will replace the inner turmoil you release through forgiveness with a higher vibration of acceptance and love.

Begin and end each day with writing, thinking, or saying out loud a minimum of 3 things for which you offer thanks. You may even surprise yourself by how much good surrounds you. If you want a bit of help getting started with this, this free 5 minute meditation will get you humming along in gratitude. There are 2 other meditations that come with this, too!

Forgive YOU! Why Should I?

Forgive YOU? Why should I?

How often have you said or thought, “Forgive YOU! Why should I?”

Come on, be honest. We’ve all experienced people who have pushed our buttons, abused us either physically, mentally or verbally. Do you forgive a bully? Do you forgive those that “seemingly” hold power over you? How do you reconcile yourself to forgive someone who cheats, steals, lies and is unethical in every way? Big topic!

You may ask, “Why is it in my best interest to forgive this person or situation?”

“Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.” ? Oscar Wilde
Click To Tweet

Because if you don’t you will be freaking miserable, that’s why. Who wants to carry around a heavy toxic shit-pile of wasted energy? Think about it, we are energy, plain and simple. Where your energy flows your life unfolds. Whatever someone has done to hurt you, it’s not happening in this NOW moment. Allowing your mind to re-visit past hurts and wounds affects every aspect of your multi-body system.

It’s a good chance the other person has moved on. If you remain angry, hurt and resentful, this is a heavy weight in your heart. Even though the event happened in the past, if you continue to harbor ill will, you keep negative feelings alive. What happens next? Similar experiences will show up to play out in your outer experiences until you release, forgive and let go of that shit-pile of wasted energy. We are addicted to habit and some habits are detrimental to our life.

When unpleasant emotions or negative feelings surface and you “stuff” them back down, they will show up when you least expect it. Your soul is bringing the shit-storm up for you to look at, acknowledge and release. How about sending this message into the eye of the storm, “I see you, thank you for the lesson in the challenge. I forgive and release myself from you NOW. You are no longer needed in my life.” Voila – release and relax!

“True forgiveness is when you can say, “Thank you for that experience.” ? Oprah Winfrey
Click To Tweet

Let me clarify. I am not talking about forgiving someone and allowing them to hurt you again. There are times anger keeps us safe and can motivate a person to seek assistance. Instead of pushing painful feelings down and ignoring them; scream, shout, let it all out! When the pain is still raw, forgiveness is the exact opposite of what you are feeling. Keep in mind, anger is not a friend of forgiveness, love is. Once safety is firmly established if you have been harmed, or the trauma has died down, consider forgiveness to be a viable option that is in the best interest of your health and well-being.

When someone treats you despicably, remove their presence from your life. It’s hard to be at war with another and at peace with yourself. Sending out emotional darts returns to the sender in kind, always with interest included! You deserve to be living in happy-land. Expressing anger and feeling resentment over long periods of time is giving your power away, keeping you in “struggle” mode and that feels pretty shitty, don’t you agree?

Think of forgiveness as a gift you give yourself in the realization you are not willing to participate in this wasted pile of energy any longer. Take your power back (no end to the power of love) and set yourself free. Forgive others, forgive yourself. You will grow stronger and more resilient. That’s a promise I can stand by!

You Are Natural Resonance

Autumn Fall forest coming out of pages in magic book

When discussing resonance with my husband Cody, he brought up a great point, “The system we live in is synthetic, we are natural.” Over time, somethings gotta give. Do you have your resonance working for or against you? What story are you writing? Do you resonate to Mother Nature and her Kingdoms or are you caught up in the illusion and programming of the outer world? You are ‘natural’ resonance.

The rhythm of resonance enlivens the human spirit and is a catalyst for transformation. – Debra…

Consider the fact that we are organic beings living in an inorganic world where we have become reliant on corporations to deliver and provide for all our needs. This gets us out of contact with the earth and her amazing gifts that are intended to support life.

Our physical structure has a frequency that resonates with Mother Earth and is meant to be activated. That activation can be as simple as taking off your shoes and standing on the earth’s surface in the dirt, sand, water, grass, rocks, etc. When we do this the earth imparts a steady stream of electrons through the soles of our feet, very much like plugging a light plug into an outlet. Without this connection there is diminished energy flow.

We are meant to live with the seasons; close to the earth, communing with the natural laws of the universe and the energies of the planet. It is because of our organic nature and our connection with the earth that our body, mind and spirit (the triad of you) remains balanced and healthy.

You write the book of your life. As we approach autumn, I am thinking about what I can do to enhance the magical qualities in my book of life. I feel a pull to be back in nature, to live in an environment that supports a natural way of life. There is a systematic and very constant pressure pulling on our attention, spreading it thinner and thinner. Corporations profit from our distractions and our disconnection from the natural world. The only way to unplug from this energy is to embrace our natural abundance, joy, peace, unity and oneness.

We are temporary travelers blessed to experience life on Earth’s surface. This September 28th we enjoyed the Total Lunar Eclipse of the Super-moon. This brought in high frequency energies that anchored in our hearts. We have the ability to shift our human experiences and that of the planet.

Many will feel their “stuff” coming up to be healed in this time of transformation. Shove your “stuff” back down and it will continue to come up. This is the perfect time to face fears and unresolved issues, so stay firm and steady in your heart energy.

This is the time to let go of the old paradigm. Our hearts are calling, Mother Nature is calling for you to connect with her. Plug in and feel the energy flowing through you. Be grateful to be alive on the earth at this time. The changes we are witnessing are unprecedented and just beginning to unfold before our eyes. The old paradigm will happily pull you into it’s outer world energy if you continue to dance that dance.

Trust your heart to guide you present moment by present moment. When you are ready, your heart will take you on a new dance, one I guarantee you won’t want to miss!

Shall we dance?

When people of similar frequencies come together, output is not a simple sum of individual work, but exponential. In science we term this phenomenon as resonance. Output at this stage is beyond any logical limit.

Resonance & Attraction

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Resonance & Attraction – by Guest Author Margaux DeNador

When I hear the word resonance the first things that come to mind are vibration, relationships, feeling a connection with someone or something, and that we attract what we feel a resonance with.

For example, we can feel a resonance with people in our family, with friends, people we meet, and even those we haven’t met who write books and record music for us to hear, and create art we enjoy seeing.

Sound is a resonance and it is part of how I feel an attraction with the people I enjoy having in my life. I really enjoy listening to the sound of the voices of people I love. The resonance of their voices can make me feel happy, uplifted, encouraged, enlivened, and loved. What we say — but especially how we feel when we say it — matters.

I feel a resonance with people who focus on love, appreciation, and gratitude for all that is right in their life.

In my book, The Art of Living a Life You Love, I have a chapter about influence. We are greatly affected by the people in our circle of influence and we affect the people who are in ours. People we feel a resonance with, I call Kindred Spirits. They are people that seem like we’ve known forever and will know for as long as we can. Many things may change but that resonance seldom changes.

Animals can be Kindred Spirits and we can also feel a strong vibration with them — a resonance that is based on mutual attraction and of love. To feel resonance with an animal or person we must be on a similar vibration level with them. That similar vibration is what attracts us. Focus on love and appreciation and you’ll attract people who feel a resonance with you and those vibrations.

I’ve always felt a strong resonance with my Mom. She’s been what I call an Angel in the Sun for almost nine years now and I still feel her with me. I feel a resonance when I think of her, remember our fun times together, and I still hear her talking to me. She likes to answer questions I ask her before I meditate. I like to write a question, such as, “Mom, what are you telling me?” or “Mom, what do I need to know?” and then meditate for 15 minutes and after I let her answer by writing what I hear her tell me.

We are vibrational writers of the script of our life and certain people resonate with our script and are part of a mutual attraction. For example, we went to a reunion of my husband’s high school class and we felt a resonance with many of his friends, their wives, and with the dad of one of his longest and most treasured friends. The friends – and our friend’s dad – that we felt a resonance with were all vibrating with the resonance of love. They radiated a joy in living and giving and made a connection with us.

Being with people who are happy, positive, kind, and loving feels wonderful. I feel a resonance with people who choose to live in that way.

Life is full of choices and we can each make the decisions that feel right for us. When we do, we send out a vibrational resonance that attracts like-minded people, places, and animals to us.

I’ve had the experience, several times in my life, of attracting animals to me from a strong feeling of resonance. For example, we felt a strong resonance when we first saw our cat, Bender, as a kitten — first on Facebook and then at our son’s house while Bender was still a tiny kitten. We felt a resonance with him right away and told our son that if he couldn’t keep Bender, because of his living situation, that we wanted to adopt him. Bender has been with us for almost five years now and we feel the same strong resonance with him today as we did the first time we saw him.

We also felt a resonance with our friend’s cat Bonkers while we were visiting. She seemed to feel the resonance with us because she chose to spend time with us, snuggled with us, and chose to sleep with us while we were there.

As my friend, Chuck Ballinger, says, “When something resonates with me, it’s almost like a precursor to an epiphany or a striking realization. If it doesn’t resonate, the idea or concept just fades away into obscurity. So I try to pay attention to anything I hear that resonates.”

Do you feel resonance with your family members? Friends? Teachers? Mentors?

Where do you love to spend time because the resonance of the place feels so good to you?

What music resonates with you?

Resonance is a feeling that vibrates through a person, an animal, or even a place. Pay attention to the people you feel a resonance with because they are attractive to you and you are to them. If you want to feel more love, appreciation, and joy you must focus on those feelings so the resonance you radiate will attract them back to you.

The Big Bang Theory of Observing Life and Loving it!

Nature Big Bang

Guest Article by Steve Tallamy – The Big Bang Theory of Observing Life and Loving It!

Observing is an underused gift which we have all been given to enable us to connect with the love that surrounds us in each and every given moment of our lives. Fortunately I learned the art of observation at an early age and although I have often misplaced this valuable tool during my life Nature has always found it and returned it to me. When I speak of observing I don’t mean merely looking at the people and things we encounter in life, but to absorb ourselves into them with all of our senses. A great example of what I mean would be when I’ve taken a walk in the countryside with family or friends. On our return someone might ask us where we’ve been and my companions usual reply would be something like ….

‘Oh we’ve just had a nice couple of hours walk near Fordingbridge; we parked in the pub car park in Godshill and took the circular route through the woods before returning back to the pub and had a drink and a bite to eat.’

Hmm, my version would be more like …

“We left the car in the ‘Fighting Cock’ pubs car park in Godshill and took the path behind the village hall, where they were mowing the cricket pitch and the smell of fresh cut grass wafted around us on the breeze. After climbing over the old wooden style we entered the woods where the damp coolness of the trees mingled with the aroma of pine needles as they exploded under our boots as we made our way along the well trodden path.”

Of course this description would continue until it ended with an episode about the pub lunch and anyone listening to me would probably have sneaked off or fallen asleep by then! But I think it explains what I mean by ‘observing’ well enough and it describes the way I see life and fall in love with it each and every time. Of course it doesn’t only have to be those times when we are in-nature that we use or senses to their full. By observing everything we encounter along the pathway of life we open up new ones, highways and byways that lead us deep within ourselves. They lead to the heart and soul of our true being and it is from this place that we discover the love of living, the joy of the companionship with all that is and will ever be. It’s a wonder-filled place to reside. Even when we’re in those dark places we find ourselves in from time to time we need to fully observe them because it is only by understanding them that we become capable of dealing with them. If we don’t recognize and know our enemies for who and what they are we can never hope to defeat them and move on into a new and better place.

Life is packed full of wonderful experiences and when we exercise our physical senses by using them as often as we can to truly appreciate and love each moment we’re in, we also strengthen our spiritual senses. The inner senses of intuition, creativity, love, compassion and many more. They lay there dormant like seeds simply waiting for us to awaken them and when we do they immediately explode into the only action they know. Growth. Doors open and barriers crumble, freeing us to pass through into dimensions of the universe which we were unable to connect with before. Observing deeply is like the ‘Big Bang Theory,’ it is the beginning of all beginnings, the start of a never ending wonderous journey to wherever you allow your senses to take you.
