The Unusual Suspects + Book Signing Woes

Not too long ago, I had lunch with these suspects . . .

Photobucket Photobucket

That's Dan Santat, who illustrates MUCHO books, including "Bobby vs. Girls (Accidentally) Now in Paperback"*, and created the Disney TV show The Replacements. And on the right is Bob Boyle who also writes/illustrates, plus was a producer on Fairly Odd Parents, and has a show on Nick Jr called Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!

I too have a television show. It's called, "Watch Lisa Not Get Enough Sleep." Oh wait, I forgot. That show hasn't been made yet.

An...

Also, while at the Jet Propulsion Lab Open House, we saw this . . .

Yes! Yes! A deer astrophysicist!!!

Then, on Thursday, we were at the Studio City Branch Library for a program presented by the LA Public Library and Los Angeles Valley College. Also on the bill were Barney Saltzberg and Hope Anita Smith . . .

Stunt Peeps and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Thousands of you (well, more than a dozen) were upset by a certain scene in the practically-award-winning movie Son and I made, "A Cautionary Easter."

Here's the certain scene . . .

Well, I thought it best to show you that no Peeps were harmed in the making of the film. Those were STUNT PEEPS and they were acting. ACTING. And Oscar-worthy acting, I might add! Just to prove no one was hurt, look . . .

Yes! It's a photo (see the newspaper proves that it was recent) of Ojo with his friends, and the...

Author vs. Editor (or maybe not)

Okay, okay, everyone's been asking me the same thing, "Lisa, what do you use to spike your hair, and also, now that you're back home after fourteen kajillion days on the road, what are you working on?"

Well, maybe it's only my editors who have been asking me one of those things. Here's why.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I had written the three books (above), and then decided to continue the series. Only, I wanted to write about What Happens Next. But not necessarily featuring Millicent Min, Stanford Wong or Emily Ebers, ...

Meanwhile, Back in the Big Apple . . .

Last blog, courtesy of time travel, we were in the Windy City. This blog takes us back to the Big Apple, even though we are in Southern California . . .

I was in NYC to embarrass myself in the Ultimate Author Smackdown, but had time to bop around time with Peepy and visit a bakery in Little Italy . . .

"Are ALL those cookies for you?" I can hear you ask.

"Pshaw! Nooooo, no, no." I shared them with my Peep.

We stayed at the glam SoHo Grand, and snooped around the neighborhood . . .

Windy Time Traveling

Through the miracle of Time Travel, even though Peepy and I are back in South Pasadena, we're visiting Chicago today.

Peepy and I had some free time during the IRA Convention, so we decided to explore The Windy City. Only, we got lost . . .

Photobucket

So then, we decided to go to Wicker Park. We had been there last year with our author pal, Amy Timberlake and her hubby, Phil. Amy once featured my desk on her blog, My Desk is a Mess . . .

Peepy googled Wicker Park and it was 3.5 miles away. Ah ha! It w...

Finding Famous Authors in the Windy City

What???? What's happening here, and why is Lisa attacking RL Stein?

Photobucket

Well, I'll get to that on a future blog. But first, even though I'm in New York at this very second, I still need to finish my blog about the wonderful IRA Convention in Chicago, where I was a couple days ago.

Peepy got all technical and we Skyped into classrooms in Blue Springs, MO during Ruth Culham's symposium about writing, featuring BOBBY VS. GIRLS (ACCIDENTALLY) and ABSOLUTELY MAYBE . . .

Author Eating Frenzy in Chicago + Help! Throw Me a Gameshow Lifeline

I'm in New York right now, getting ready for the Ultimate Author Smackdown, er, Showdown. Yep. It's gonna be me against the guys. But more on that later.

Photobucket

First, this . . .

Chicago was a blast! I'll be posting photos of the famous authors I met/stalked on the convention floor, and of the presentations. But on this blog I wanted to talk about something very important to authors. Food!!!

Met up with my good friend Jordan Sonnenblick and we stuffed our faces and discussed world politics, geometry a...
