La Peepy Dans Paris

Photobucket

Oui, oui! La Peey est une Paris, si vous plait. "Quelle fromage!"*

Peepy LOVED Paris. And it loved her.

The Notre Dame Catherdral was so inspiring. (It made me cry.)

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Peeps was interested in the other sights Paris had to offer . . .

But what she really wanted to do, was to see the castles. Here's the castle where the famed inventor Leonardo DiCaprio is buried . . .

Photobucket Photobucket

Oops. Wrong Leonardo.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Okay, now I'm probably mixing my castles up. (We saw three.) So, I'll just put all the pictures ...

Very Venice

So then, after Peepy left Rome, she headed to Venice, where she astutely noticed there was lots of water. Everywhere . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

When not admiring the water, Peeps was indulging in the local fare . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
(I know what you're all thinking . . . how does she keep her girlish figure?)

Peepy also took time out to shop . . .
Photobucket

ONE MOMENT, PLEASE. WE INTERRUPT THIS BLOG TO MAKE THIS IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT . . .

TODAY IS THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE OF "BOBBY THE BRAVE (SOMETIMES)"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Peepy Meets the Pope

Peepy's Roman Holiday continued when she insisted on visiting the smallest country in the world. No, it wasn't Peepville, it was Vatican City, the official seat of the Catholic Church.

Before venturing in, Peepy had to make sure she had the proper attire and that everything was in order . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

The architecture was incredible . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

. . . and the interior of St. Peter's Basilica was magnificent . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Peeps had hoped to catch a glimpse of the Pope. But alas, he was not to be seen. However, Pee...

Peepy's Roman Holiday

Just try to guess which one of these Apple international travel adapters worked on my laptop . . .

Photobucket

If you guessed . . . NONE . . . you are correct!

Um, I bought the WRONG kit--the one above is for iPods. Oh well. I didn't let that dampen my enthusiasm for my recent trip to . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

That's right! ROME, as in ITALY. Yes, Peepy had her own Roman Holiday a la Audrey Hepburn.

Photobucket

Now Peeps thinks that she should star in a remake of the movie . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

The views were gorgeous . . .

Kool Hair and Tasty Sandwiches

Look! LOOK! Lookit!

Lots of people have tried to get their hair to look like Maybe's . . .

Photobucket
(Ignore that "Untitled" in the center of the photo. I, uh, meant to put it there.)

But ABSOLUTELY MAYBE fan, the totally awesome Amy Paluch, was inspired to acutally dye her hair with Kool-Aid!!! I think it looks marvelous, don't you?

Speaking of YA novels, Holly Cupala has this cool new book out called TELL ME A SECRET. In honor of the book, she asked her YA author friends to spill their guts and reveal t...

Behind-the-Scenes at a Big Kid Lit Conference

Okay, okay, yes, I'm all discombobbled about what happened when. I was so distracted by Nathan Fillion . . .

. . . that I forgot to post this blog . . .

Reporting from backstage from the SCBWI Conference . . .

After the totally awesome even endith, the faculty was pooped. However, troopers that they are, all gathered for the Faculty Let Your Hair Down Party . . .

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

It's was so cool, because Sonya Sones was taking photos at the party, plus Alan Baker, the SCBWI photographer/husband of Lin/Associ...

Yes, Nathan Fillion and I Spent the Day Together

I love the TV show CASTLE. It's about a mystery author who is "observing" a NY City cop. The actor who plays Richard Castle is named Nathan Fillion, and he also starred in the awesome sci-fi series FIREFLY. After watching that show, I now have a great appreciation for space cowboys.

Recently, a totally legit professional-ish documentary film crew caught these real life unscripted unrehearsed authentic honest scenes from a typical day in my life.

If it doesn't show up on your computer, then CLIC...

Tears and Cheers + Heart and Soul (SCBWI Part Deux)

Photobucket

We were last at the SCBWI Faculty Dinner and Apres Hobnobbing with Kid Lit Celebs . . .
Photobucket
(Above: MT Anderson signs one of Son's three copies of OCTAVIAN NOTHING.)

During the Golden Kite Luncheon, I delivered a tribute to Newbery Award winner Sid Fleischman, who passed away earlier this year. (I was the recipient of the first Sid Fleischman Humor Award in 2004.) He was a mentor and a friend, and longtime supporter of SCBWI.

After, a short video about Sid was shown, then his son, Newbery Award win...

The Night Before Conference

There are some things that you can count on being great. A box of Sees chocolates, a new episode of GLEE, the annual SCBWI Summer Conference . . .

(Er, that's a reject sweatshirt jacket. The non-reject ones have the c-o-r-r-e-c-t spelling on them.)

For me and Peepy, it began with the faculty dinner check in. (We're on the Board of Advisors. Well, one of us is. The other one sits at the meetings and looks good. I'll let you try to figure that one out.)

There was much mingling and wine and cheese,...
