Book Clubs, and Taylor Swift and Me

Recently, Peepy and I spent the week at sunny Santa Barbara's Author-Go-Round. Since then, we've gotten lots of thank you cards from the kids . . .

(Um. It took a couple tries to get Puppy in place.)

Of course, Peeps was especially pleased that many of the letters were all about her . . .

Getting Dizzy with Authors

Yoo hoo! Peepy and I are in Santa Barbara this week, taking part in the 40th Annual Author-Go-Round. "What's that?" you ask. Well, it's one (or more) of the following:

A) Where authors look at the sky and twirl until they fall down

B) A five-day celebration of books featuring four authors and attended by hundreds of students

C) A tilt-a-whirl ride that where authors are strapped in and not allowed to exit until they can explain the difference between "who's" and "whose"

In Praise of Battered Books

Peepy and I are in Santa Barbara again, this time for the Author-Go-Round.

When we checked into our hotel room we did the usual. That is, stare at the remote(s) for an hour and try to figure it out. Finally we gave up and went sailing instead . . .

(BTW, I think there should be a law that all remotes be the same.)

Later, we enjoyed the sunshine (yes! it finally stopped raining) and explored the hotel grounds . . .

How is your dental hygiene? Peepy has been eating so much chocolate lately, that she had to go to the dentist. Luckily, there were no cavities . . .

Many people think that authors eat chocolate bon bons all day and whip up fanciful stories in their spare time. And while this is true, they sometimes go to working retreats at historic missions built in 710 BC (or thereabouts).

Prior to heading to the SCBWI Santa Barbara/Ventura Cyber-Promotional Tools for Published Authors and Illustrators Conference (SCBWISBVCPTFPAIC), a fellow faculty member, social media expert Greg Pincus, and Moi agreed to meet at Peet's Coffee.
