A Letter to My Unborn Child

My Dear Child

You know I was on cloud 9 when the doctors confirmed my pregnancy. “I was going to be a mother,” I had thought with tears flooding through my eyes. Your dad, the only one who has always been there for me after your grandparents expired was equally delighted. I could feel it in my heart the moment he embraced me in his arms. I thought that was the pinnacle of my happiness.

“I can’t believe; a sweet little boy is going to breathe a new life in our home soon,” he said hugging me.

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) – Book Review

If you have read the previous book City of Glass, you might agree with me when I say that the series was literally over with that book. It sufficed as a decent climax. Anyhow, Cassandra Clare decided to go further into the fantasy world she has created.

City of Fallen Angels moves the story ahead deliberately.

We know that Simon, The Daylighter is now protected by the Mark of Cain. His love life is a little unbalanced with Maia and Isabelle creating a perfect love triangle. He is summoned by...

Like a Love Song – Book Review

It is a book by Nikita Singh! Taking a break from The Mortal Instruments series after City of Glass was something that was necessary because I had to read Like a Love Song. It should not come to you as a surprise when I say that I did not even read the blurb before I turned the cover and started reading it. It was a sweet surprise that the book was actually different from what she had been writing.

It is a story about a middle class girl.

I remember sitting in a workshop at Pragati Maidan whe...

The Flow of Words

“Write what you know.” – Mark Twain

Back in the days, I used to blog a lot. The more people praised me, the more I was eager to write and let the flow of words define my opinions. I have received my share of love as well as hatred and that is a part of being a writer. I used to have a healthy blogging circle (I might still be able to get in touch with most of them) and readers from all over India (even some international readers) used to read my blogs. Most of the times, I wrote fictions, i...

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3) – Book Review

City of Glass is the third installment to The Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. If you have been reading my reviews, you would know that I am absolutely loving the series so far. It’s not perfect, but, quite interesting with a whole lot of twists and turns that has kept me glued so far. Do not read this review if you haven’t read the previous two books.

City of Glass takes the story further.

Clary must help her mother wake up, but she must travel to the city of glass for that. Howe...

The Cold Night

The lamp post in the front of their house was not working today. For so many nights, the light emitting out of it had given a sigh of relief to him. Though, the warmth of the light could not be felt inside the house, it made him feel safer and consoled him through the long sleepless nights. He had considered telling his parents about it, but refrained himself from actually doing so. “They will never understand me,” he had thought.

He was gifted or rather cursed with an ability that had turned...

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) – Book Review

I picked up City of Ashes right after finishing City of Bones because I was curious to read further. The previous book, although not perfect, was definitely an amazing read, which I have also described in my review. Read the following City of Ashesbook review only if you have read the first book or the plot description might prove to be a major spoiler for you.

City of Ashes began rather slowly, but picked up right after.

Clary has now acknowledged her true self i.e. her being a demon slaying...

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) – Book Review

City of Bones is the first installment of The Mortal Instruments series written by Cassandra Clare. This is literally a saga and I was hesitant in picking it up because that would mean a good break from other books, but I had to read it because it is one of the most popular young adult series under the paranormal category and after the Goodreads award, I had to read it.

A lot happens in the first book ‘City of Bones’ itself.

Clary Fray, a fifteen-year-old girl witnesses a murder in the Pandem...

Our Impossible Love – Book Review

I like reading books written by Durjoy Datta. They’re usually a page turner (even if clichéd) and suits well when you’re in a mood to pick up a light read or a young adult. Of course, like always, I had pre-ordered the book and I received an autographed copy. I just hope I was as excited after reading the book as I was when I turned the first page.

Our Impossible Love Autographed by Durjoy Datta

Our Impossible Love has so much to offer.

The protagonist is a girl named Aisha, who is trying to find out what it actually means to be a woman b...

Dark Places – Book Review

Before I begin with the review, I would like to share that I’m quite fond of Gillian Flynn. I did not like Sharp Objects, but I loved reading Gone Girl and The Grownup (which was a short story, but absolutely worth buying). Whenever I’m holding one of her books in my hand, I expect to read something twisted, dark, grim and disturbing.

I picked Dark Places with similar expectations.

As usual, the protagonist here is a girl – Libby Day. She was just seven years old when her mother and sisters w...
