Nicholas Sparks Taught Me the Power of Words

Statutory Warning from my side: Do not read this post if you have not read A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks.

I was quite fond of reading back in my school days. No, not literature if you are thinking in that direction. While all my classmates used to borrow huge, the thickest I had seen reference books, I was more interested in reading Goosebumps, Spooksville, Hardy Boys, Famous Five, Fear Street and some names I can’t remember right now. In addition to that, I was a huge comics buff. I’...

That Unknown Human

It was my first trip out of the station and yeah, I was quite pleased with it. You can’t really find a lot of places to go in Chandigarh and we literally had run out of places to go even on a two days’ trip. However, it was tiring because we had not slept at all. Five hours in a seventy hours’ duration do not count, right?

Even with the tired look on our face and our body language literally oozing out laziness, we were sitting on the train berth and singing some awesome songs in our shabby vo...

The Clock is Always Ticking and Death is Inevitable

Every single human living on this planet is quite familiar with the concept of life and its delicacy. We know that death is inescapable; it’s only a matter of when. The irony is that even with the surplus of knowledge that we carry in our minds, we are still infinitely shaken up when death happens to someone close to us or even to someone we recognize without having even a single actual conversation for real. For some people, it’s like losing their entire world. Human emotions; they are power...

The Grownup – Book Review

I loved Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn due to its sheer disturbing nature portrayed perfectly by Flynn. The Grownup obviously had my attention right from the beginning. I cringe at the thought that things got delayed from Amazon’s side and I am reviewing it so late. Anyhow, moving on to the review, which will be short as well because it’s a short story.

The story begins with an unusual setting.

We meet a young woman who is earning her living by faking herself as a psychic at Spiritual Palms. Iron...

All the Bright Places – Book Review

Itis a 2015 Goodreads winner for young adult category, the genre I’m quite fond of. It was the only reason why I bought All the Bright Places paperback. If you have been reading my reviews, you must be knowing already that I rarely read the blurb or plot of the book before reading it.

The story is nothing different if you have been reading young-adult.

The most recent and popular example would be The Fault in Our Stars. A guy named Theodore Finch is fascinated by death. He is always surrounde...

See Me – Book Review

It’s Nicholas Sparks and there’s no way I’m going to skip any new book by Nicholas Sparks. That’s pretty much the reason why I picked up See Me (pre-ordered actually). If you are a Sparks’ fan, you can definitely understand.

The plot of See Me is actually a little different.

Yes, it definitely begins with a girl and guy falling in love with each other over clichéd circumstances (trust me, I love his books even though they are clichéd now).

Colin is 28, trying to give a second chance to his li...

It Was All In Vain

Not so strong on the inside after all,
I break down often as the memories crawl.
Slowly and gradually, I’m befriending the pain,
But it still hurts to think it was all in vain.

Forgetting the one you loved, is it easy enough?
Or love was never there, it was all just a bluff!
Do you know the agony of losing you from my sight?
Consider that it’s the reason behind my tears every night.

“Love me forever, never leave me,” you said.
How the love so profound is now simply dead?
The fabrications of m...

Eleanor and Park – Book Review

Eleanor and Park was recommended to me by a fellow blogger friend – Aathira. We were having a conversation over Facebook regarding how Paper Towns by John Green is not quite complete and other issues we both had with the book. Of course, when it’s John Green, you have to mention The Fault in Our Stars and how beautiful a book that is. It was with the mention of this book that she suggested I should read Eleanor and Park as well because the writing style of Rainbow Rowell and John Green is som...

Is your Full Time Maid / Babysitter Underage?

Let me make one thing clear before you read further. This post is not about the professional babysitting services or the services offered by the day care centers. This post caters to the people appointing under-age girls to address full time child care.

Yesterday, I was sitting at a restaurant with my family, celebrating my dad’s birthday. About 10 minutes later, a family entered the same restaurant. With 10 people in total, there was only one kid (about 4 years old) and a girl (way below the...

The Perks of being a Wallflower – Book Review

Even though The Perks of Being a Wallflower released back in 1999, it gained immense popularity after a movie adaptation was released. Now, many people might hate me for saying this (especially the fans) but that was how I came to know about this title. No, I haven’t watched the movie yet, so I’ll be completely unbiased in my review.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower revolves around the life of Charlie, a shy and conserved kind of guy who wants to be good to everyone and keep his priorities aft...
