Tyler Oakley Delves into the Twisted Mind Behind Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights!
First of all – let’s just get this out of the way. TYLER OAKLEY IS IN THE HOUSE! The Youtube & podcast star joins us at Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights to talk to the man who makes it all come together – John Murdy!
Join Tyler Oakley as he dives into the mind of the man who makes Halloween Horror Nights one of the biggest Halloween events in the world.
The creative director for all Universal Parks & Resorts has a huge responsibility on his plate yet he continually builds a world in October that experts estimate draws an additional attendance (on top of the park’s usual numbers) of over half a million guests.
Trust me – the park is constantly crowded this time of year, but it’s definitely worth it. And that all starts with John.
Time after time, John repeatedly amazes spectators with the mazes he creates with his team, using huge franchises like The Walking Dead, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Chucky & more. In fact, he’s been working on entertaining folks with horror attractions since he was a child.
Ultimately, John enjoys trying to beat himself every single year, and it’s hard to argue that he doesn’t do so. John even goes out, dresses up, and scares guests in the mazes himself.
Tyler digs deep into how John really got started turning horror movies and entertainment into attractions. How did he become the creative director for all of the rides & theme parks of one of Hollywood’s biggest studios? What are his favorite mazes and rides that he’s worked on to date?

Redneck #7 Variant to Help Houston Disaster Relief
You may have already heard the rumblings after NYCC this year, but we’re happy to officially share with you the variant cover for REDNECK #7! Like our blue Texas Forever t-shirt, 100% of the proceeds for this variant will benefit Houston Coalition for the Homeless. The Houston based charity was picked by series writer and red blooded Texas American, Donny Cates. Their “mission is to provide leadership in the development, advocacy, and coordination of community strategies to prevent and end homelessness.”
This stunning new cover features art from the insanely talented Nick Derington who also happens to be a Texas native. You can check out the cover art below. REDNECK #7 (Diamond Code SEP170763) by Nick Pitarra and REDNECK #7 charity variant (Diamond Code JUL178523) by Derington will be available on Wednesday, November 20th. Joe Lynch Talks Horror, Filmmaking, Steven Yeun and Mayhem!
Joe Lynch wears more hats than most of us own, namely: Film Director, Music Video Director, Producer, Editor, Cinematographer, Host, and Actor. (That’s right,
little Joe Lynch got his start as a child actor, just like the Olsen twins, but different!) We’re all total fangirls of Joe Lynch and listeners of his Podcast, Movie Crypt, but Clarke Wolfe was the lucky duck who got to sit down with him!

Joe has been around so many blocks, including directing music videos for artists like Pete York, 311, and Godhead. Since then he’s been helmed as a horror genre
filmmaker, debuting in the space in 2007 with his feature Wrong Turn 2: Dead End.
Lynch doesn’t stop there! His upcoming feature, Mayhem, stars Walking Dead alum, Steven Yeun, and hits selected theatres November 10th. It’s that classic story about a virus infecting an office building and driving a bunch of lawyers totally insane. It’s not the first time we’ve all watched Steven Yeun fight for his life, but hey – maybe this time he’ll fare better.
Lynch’s podcast Movie Crypt (that he co-host’s with fellow genre filmmaker, Adam Green) is a total labor of love and could clearly only come from two men who know, love, and cherish the art of film.
We love talking to people who love what they do, and Joe is certainly in that camp. Enjoy our interview with Joe Lynch – we certainly did!
