Robin Lord Taylor talks Road from Terminus Trough to Gotham’s Penguin!

Regardless of the new hair-do, you may recognize this man as Oswald Cobblepot (the penguin) from Gotham, but Robin Lord Taylor is no new-comer to Television or the silver screen.

After attending Northwestern University, Robin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in theatre in 2000. Of which, Robin’s roommate at the time was none other than actor Billy Eichner! Whoa!

In 2006 Robin appeared in Accepted as Abernathy Darwin Dunlap and moved on to work on independent films such as Would You Rather, Cold Comes the Night and Another Earth.

Robin also had a two episode stint on The Walking Dead, appearing in Episode 4, Season 4 “Indifference.” His character Sam unfortunately met a pretty grisly demise at Terminus in the premiere of Season 5.

Sorry Robin :/ We don’t mean anything by it.

He has always had a fervent passion for theatre as well. Co-creating and co-starring in Creation Nation: A Live Talk Show with former roomie Billy Eichner. Also worth mentioning is that he appeared in multiple productions in Stephen Sondheim’s Young Playwrights Festival, including Henry IV, No. 11 Blue and White and The Shooting Stage.

Starting in 2014 Robin started his on-going journey as Oswald Cobblepot in Fox’s Gotham. He describes the experience as transformative, playing a character who goes through the whole spectrum of emotions on a consistent basis.

Esquire claims that as Penguin, Robin “steals the show.”

Now that you’re familiar with his breadth of work, watch and listen as Robin talks about his acting process, dream roles, and even discusses his first job EVER (hint: it involves telephones and telephones only). Enjoy!

Michael Cudlitz Wasn’t Always Abraham Ford

You probably know Michael Cudlitz as our beloved Sergeant Abraham Ford from The Walking Dead. However, Cudlitz has been working hard at furthering his career since for a long time. It’s his dedication and hard work that most people who are striving to make it in Hollywood can learn from.

Aaron Sagers got to sit down with Cudlitz in New York City and have a drink. As a result, they got to chatting about the craft of acting, how he got his start, and of course – The Walking Dead.

Graduating from CalArts in 1990, Michael Cudlitz balanced his Hollywood career not only as a man on screen, but in the set construction department. That makes sense.

Cudlitz even served as the construction coordinator on Beverly Hills 90210 before landing a role on the show! Michael Cudlitz: carpenter extraordinaire! He explains how he made such a drastic jump from construction to talent in the interview, which is really interesting to list to.

Also – fun fact: Cudlitz first time playing the role of “Sergeant” wasn’t as our friend Abe, but was actually in his breakout role as Sergeant Denver “Bull” Randleman in Band of Brothers. He went on to star in the critically acclaimed Southland as John Cooper.

One thing is certain – Cudlitz is a man serious about his craft. He wasn’t handed an opportunity to show that he’s got talent. He worked really, really hard for his opportunities, and he took advantage. Are you aiming at doing the same thing? This conversation is a must-listen.

Without further ado, please enjoy our sit down with Michael Cudlitz and bask in the fact that the rest of us will probably never be on a couch with that cool of a crowd. Maybe we can be as cool as him one day, too.

Make sure to follow this week’s Insider quests on Twitter!

INSIDERS: Our Full Interview with REDNECK’s Donny Cates!

Donny Cates is an upstanding Texas gentleman and here at Skybound we like to treat him as such, which is why we take him out to barbeque any chance we get. (One time Kassie tried to get him to eat vegan bbq but he wasn’t about it.)

Donny Cates is ALSO a writer of many comic books, including Skybound’s own, Redneck. Arc one of the Southern vampire family horror drama (what a description), “Deep in the Heart” just wrapped up and in its stead stands a brand new beautiful Volume #1, which was just released last Thursday!

We caught up with Mr. Cates in Portland, Oregon where we gathered around the family table, chowed down on some killer bbq (shout out to Podnah’s Pit), and talked all about the first six issues of Redneck. We thought it was only appropriate to give y’all some real in depth vampire talk on today, the day of Halloween.

The next arc of Redneck, “The Eyes Upon You” is gearing to start up on November 22nd with the release of issue #7. Keep your eyes peeled for some more Redneck insider-y goodness leading up to that date, and look for our special charity variant cover of #7 – 100% of proceeds will go to the Houston Coalition for the Homeless, to help with hurricane relief efforts.

Make sure to follow Donny on Twitter (@Doncates) where he discusses not only Redneck, but his other running books, including Babyteeth, Thanos, and Doctor Strange. And as always, stay tuned for weekly (and sometimes bi-weekly, let’s be real) episodes of The Skybound Insider.
