Michael Cudlitz Wasn’t Always Abraham Ford
You probably know Michael Cudlitz as our beloved Sergeant Abraham Ford from The Walking Dead. However, Cudlitz has been working hard at furthering his career since for a long time. It’s his dedication and hard work that most people who are striving to make it in Hollywood can learn from.
Aaron Sagers got to sit down with Cudlitz in New York City and have a drink. As a result, they got to chatting about the craft of acting, how he got his start, and of course – The Walking Dead.
Graduating from CalArts in 1990, Michael Cudlitz balanced his Hollywood career not only as a man on screen, but in the set construction department. That makes sense.
Cudlitz even served as the construction coordinator on Beverly Hills 90210 before landing a role on the show! Michael Cudlitz: carpenter extraordinaire! He explains how he made such a drastic jump from construction to talent in the interview, which is really interesting to list to.
Also – fun fact: Cudlitz first time playing the role of “Sergeant” wasn’t as our friend Abe, but was actually in his breakout role as Sergeant Denver “Bull” Randleman in Band of Brothers. He went on to star in the critically acclaimed Southland as John Cooper.
One thing is certain – Cudlitz is a man serious about his craft. He wasn’t handed an opportunity to show that he’s got talent. He worked really, really hard for his opportunities, and he took advantage. Are you aiming at doing the same thing? This conversation is a must-listen.
Without further ado, please enjoy our sit down with Michael Cudlitz and bask in the fact that the rest of us will probably never be on a couch with that cool of a crowd. Maybe we can be as cool as him one day, too.
