San Diego Comic Con

Not much to say this year. I'll go with a summation as I'm on my 7th day of hangover.
1. Saw Bruce Campbell on a panel. They should've sent everyone else home and just let him talk. Funniest man alive.
2. Had yet another aspect of publishing explained to me that made me wonder if I wasn't tripping on some acid a  hippy in a Darth Vader mask must've slipped me...publishers don't put up book covers on banners at the booth to advertise authors, they put them up to advertise the publisher *itself* usi

Borders Signing Update

Another update per  my editor:
The Borders buyer says it’s a Babel Clash Live event, and it would be great if you could also include a link to their Babel Clash blog: http://bordersblog.com/scifi/

I don't know what a Babel Clash Live event is unless it's the remaining members of the band The Clash reading Bible verses in Borders, but I pass this info on to you. Apparently above link will inform you about all the panels and writers and what not at Borders for the whole week. So what Amber Benson s

Signing Outside the Convention

There were those who couldn't get tickets to the Convention as they sold out extremely early this year, so I will be doing an outside signing for those who want to hop the Trolley and come.

OUTSIDE the Convention:
Saturday July 25th, I'll be on a panel and signing at BORDERS 668 6th Street in the Gaslamp District, a few blocks across from the Convention Center. It will be at 8pm with several other authors (I don't know who or what the topic will be...Penguin's publicist hasn't gotten back with th

Russell T. Davies

I know this genius has no idea of my existence at all...so why is he so bound and determined to suck my very will to live from me?

Hungarian NIGHTLIFE...ah...giveaway

A) Thanks to Katie who sent me a present in her envelope for the sampler giveaway! It's the first season of a sketch comedy show I actually used to watch (although she couldn't know that), but missed most of because I could never nail the time down. Thanks, Katie!

B) I FINALLY received my copies of the Hungarian NIGHTLIFE (although they've already published MOONSHINE there two months ago), the cover is the same except *with* the rain from Chris's original print. Gorgeous. But other than looking a

*THE* surprise/New Book

Okay, lurkers, sound off! This is a big deal to me and I need to hear that it's a big deal to you, too. My agent, Lucienne...a wonderful person...has sold a solo novel (not a series) that I wrote six years ago to my publisher. If you think six years ago is a long time, well, it is to us ordinary humans, but in the publishing world, time as we (and most physicists) know it is an entirely different animal.

A little background: when I began writing, I first wrote a mystery novel. It was rejected so

Samper MAILING update

Okay, people...first, the samplers are a tiny bit bigger than a paperback book...only a tiny bit, but a Hallmark envelope ain't gonna do the job. Second, three stamps aren't going to do the job either unless they are nice and pricey stamps. I had to fork out almost a dollar postage *and* an envelope for one person...which I said I wasn't going to do (two books! That's the profit of two books!), but it's a fan and I love my fans. But, please, future mailers...be aware it's probably going to take

San Diego Comic Con Appearance Part Deux

Although it's actually before the panel.

Book Signing Friday from noon to 1:00 pm at the Penguin Putnam/Mysterious Galaxy booth.

And I want to see people dressed up this year. Come on! If you have a black leather jacket and an antisocial T-shirt, you're halfway to Cal already. I want to see blonde braids and katanas and car salesmen wearing green and carrying a mummified cat. Or a blonde werewolf. Do it and I'll give you a prize. I don't know what kind of prize. But something. Let's show my publ
