If They Partially Remove Your Clitoris Can You Still Orgasm?

Dear Dr. Betty,

I am a Muslim girl and I shouldn't be wondering this but I can't help it. In my country, when a girl is born they perform clitoridectomy where the clit is partially removed. I asked my mother why they do that and she said it's so that the girl won't orgasm easily so they won't turn into "bad" girls. I'm really upset by this because I thought after I get married I would get to experience the kind of feelings the characters from those erotic books feel (another thing I shouldn't be doing is reading erotica).

35 & Desperate for an Orgasm

Dear Dr. Betty,

I am so happy to have come across this site as I am desperate for some help. I am a married 35 year old mother of 2 who has NEVER had an orgasm through ANY means. I have been to hypnotists and sex therapists and have every toy you could imagine but its just not happening. It takes me ages to get any sort of pleasure and then straight away it gets to sensitive and I have to stop. Even leaving it for a minute and going back doesnt work.

PLEASE HELP me. I feel robbed of my orgasm. My libido is very low but I have sex about 3 times a week as it is not fair to my husband.

My doctor did say that my testosterone levels were low, could this have something to do with no orgasm or loss of libido?? Thanks so much

Will Antidepressants Stop Me From Ever Achieving Orgasm?

Hi Betty,

I'm so happy to have found your site (I no longer feel alone!) and am definitely going to give your tips a try regarding my anorgasmia. I was wondering though if you or anyone you know of, run a class in the UK like the group body workshops you have videos of. Also I notice that the video prices are in $, can I still buy these in the UK?

If not a class, could you recommend a therapist in the UK, as I feel like it might be nice to have the support.

Lastly, if I took antidepressants at 15 (gabapentin and amytriptiline for about a year) then for about 2 months ages 23 and then citalopram from 1 year ago till now aged 28 (I am weening off it and no longer suffer from anxiety attacks), do you think this may have stopped me from ever being able to achieve orgasm?

Stimulating My Clitoris Doesn't Bring Me in the Direction of an Orgasm

Hello!

First of all: this is a wonderful page and I already read and found a lot of really helpful things.

Now to my question. I've never had an orgasm and really want to change that. It's not that sex is not enjoyable without it, but I think it could be much more fun with coming orgasm...I've tried masturbation several times, last with your article "First Time Orgasm". The problem is, stimulating my clitoris (with fingers or while licking) doesnt really bring me in the direction of a climax. It feels good but nothing more, I dont even get wet from that.

The only time I feel that there's arising something is when rubbing on a pillow for example. I feel something overwhelming coming, but then from one second to another the feeling is gone and I cant get it back anymore.

When I'm Stressed Out All I Think About is Sex

Hi Dr. Betty,

I've been going through a stressful period lately, and I've realized that the more stressed I get, the more and more I think about sex, to the point where I'm so horny that I can't get anything done, can't think about anything but sex and when it's going to happen next. This only makes me more stressed out about the work I have to do, causing a very vicious cycle.

I don't have sex often, but when I do it only helps for a short while, and the feelings come back even stronger afterwards. I have always masturbated regularly, once a day on average. Lately it's been three or four times a day.

I'm Seeking a Career in Sex Therapy Because of Your Writings

Hi Dr. Dodson,

I wanted to express my gratitude and proudly inform that I will be seeking a career in sexual therapy due to your writings. Your amazing book, sex for one, was handed off to me this past summer. I have always thought of masturbation as a wonderful thing but never realized how deprived women around me were. It made me sad, and thus I began to ask the questions that no one at a university campus dares to. When was the last time you had an orgasm?

I Want Him to be My First Simply Because He's Experienced

Dear Dr. Betty,

I don't know if you remember me, but I emailed you a while back in the Summer regarding my situation. I'll recap fast. I e-mailed you seeking your advice regarding me sleeping with a guy, while I was over in London for an exchange trip. How I wanted to do it because I'm single and never had sex before. I'm 19 and he's 32. Now over the summer he told me he was married, and I was pissed because he did not disclose that information in the first place. So we stopped talking. After four months went on by without talking he contacts me back in December. Over Christmas he tells me he still wants to fuck me.

How Do I Make Him Want More Sex?

Dear Betty,

Since you've helped me a lot already, here's another interesting issue others may also find useful.

We talk about a lot about man wanting sex more than women and there is also some discussion about the contrary: I'm one of the women who is possibly more sexual than her partner. We have good sex but I seem to have a bigger appetite than my boyfriend. Since he is very sensitive about this topic and I respect and love him, fucking other men is not an option for me- for moral reasons.

He Can't Feel Me Coming

Dr. Betty,

Let me first say that you are my hero. I am a 33 year old woman who has enjoyed masturbation since childhood, but I’ve always had difficulty coming during penetration. Thanks to you, last year I started masturbating while penetrating myself with a dildo in practice for partner sex with my husband. (Yay, Betty’s Vaginal Barbell!) Also, you made me feel comfortable with seeking my own orgasm during partner sex, including using a vibrator. Now, my favorite is doggy style, with my uncut husband slowly penetrating me from behind while I use a vibe on my clit. I can come!
