JUST RELEASED: Curses, Hexes & Crossing: A Magician's Guide to Execration Magick

Curses, Hexes & Crossing: A Magician's Guide to Execration Magick

Renowned Daemonolatress S. Connolly explores the taboo topic of Execration Magick from a unique "darker path" perspective. This book covers cursing from Ancient Egypt to modern times and gives the modern magician plenty to consider when it comes to cursing, hexing, and crossing enemies; as well as learning to break bad habits and curse bad situations. Also included is a section about protections, how to break curses, how to...

Delays

Little things in the real world (aka non-writing life) have been thwarting my attempts at any serious production lately. Okay – so I'm lying a little. CHC isn't out yet because I was really having a hard time writing the conclusion. You would think this wouldn't be hard, but it was for whatever reason. Luckily it's finished and that part has been sent back to the editor. Then tonight the final pass and formatting fixes and to print it goes!  I say it after every book and it's true – no two...

The Author – Distributor/Printer Relationship

There are a few things the aspiring indie needs to understand about his distributors and printers if you're using a POD service like CS or LL or even LS. First things first, the second you become an indie – you need to conduct yourself professionally. So remember this. The rules that apply when you're dealing with service providers (distributors and printers) and customers (readers) during your day job also apply to your indie career.

Now some things to consider:

Before entering into ANY...

A Story About A Girl

A girl wanders into the CS forum looking to learn and provide helpful answers where she can. She immediately sees a post implying that CS and Amazon are in cahoots and "stealing" royalties from unsuspecting authors. Girl reads the thread and rolls her eyes. She then posts that she has had nothing but a wonderful business relationship with CS and they've never screwed her on her royalties or misreported sales. OP writes back knocking girl's intelligence and accusing her of having a...

The Art of Persistence

Not everyone has it. Earlier today I was directed to a blog of an indie who has decided to give up. After five years in the game she was disgusted with having only sold 300-500 copies of any one book.

So she's going to quit. Forgive me  if I don't believe her. When you're a writer – writing is like crack. It's not easy to just wash your hands of it and walk away. On that same token, writing (especially if you're an indie) isn't going to be a career just anyone can excel at either.

I've been...

A More Upbeat Post

Hilly said my last post was far too dark and disturbing. Of course I'm dark and disturbing (or so I'm told) so what do you expect? Ha! :)   I'm really excited about this weekend. A lot of exciting spring things are going on. ::Greenhouse!::  Now chances are it won't be built in time to put anything in it right away, but I am suspecting it will be up by September so I can keep my tomatoes going and start a crop of lettuce, beets, radishes and other cool weather veggies in October. Oh yeah –...

Scintillating Saturday

Well, a few things I want to mention now that the week is over. First, there's radioactive water leaking into the Pacific ocean. But it's okay, says government hired experts. Not a biggie. LOL! No – the Japanese don't need healthy edible fish populations. Hell, neither does the rest of the world. We can do without. Then that nutty Evengelical Krystee-Cream-Puff Terry Jones burned a Quran. Okay – really – what happened next was priceless. Muslims attacked a U.N. Compound and started violently...

The Friday Five

Five things I'm pondering this fine Friday afternoon:

1. Numbers. Kim suggested I increase my monthly goal from 5K to 6 or 7. I'm not sure that's a good idea as I think it's going to set me up for disappointment. I think 5K is reasonable despite last months 9400 + and the previous month's 10,000+. The 9400 didn't include the 119 freebies given away during eBook week. As an indie and small press girl – those numbers make me giddy, but technically I would be just as thrilled to sell a mere 3000 ...

Witch Hunting in North America…2011???

Yep, it's true. In the wake of a Wiccan TSA employee being fired from her job in part allegedly for hexing a co-worker's car heater (umm, yeah) the fruit loop Evangelicals are gathering again at Harvard for their annual Witch Hunting Conference . Okay, so that's not what they call it, but they do have meetings where they discuss witches and witchcraft and how Harry Potter is turning the US into a modern Sodom. And we all know what allegedly happened there. If they're right, Divine...
