Review: Sophie Will

Sophie Will by Payton Rome

I love being able to recommend new authors when I can. This was a fun, short read about a sexually neglected wife gone rogue. Yes, there is infidelity. There's even some light bdsm (too light for my taste, but still hot and still very much there).

To be honest, as a reader I felt kinda bad for Sophie because her husband is a lame jackass and she seems so innocent and untouched by the world. Then Wham! she finds herself in a situation where she's encouraged to let...

More Techie Stuff

You'll see that temporarily sensitive posts have been hidden (completely) on the site, some have been re-password protected, while other areas have popped up. I'm using a Plugin (one that is currently very unstable) to manage my page and site security. Because of this, I have temporarily turned this PlugIn off until a proper fix has been formulated. I'm told it will be out next week sometime. So until then, expect there to be places you can't go unless you have the password. Sorry about the m...

Web Woes & Thoughts on *Fiction*

So for about three to four hours this morning my site was down due to a Word Press Plugin php error. It took me this long to actually get ahold of my hosting company to get access to upload the corrected php file. Believe it or not – it was an if () statement (someone forgot the 1) that screwed it up! Good Gods! Amazing how the omission of a single number can take down an entire website. Crazy stuff.

Now onto some other stuff.

My sister and I were having a conversation this morning at which...

Busy Week

It's been one of those billingendofmonthtoomuchtodonotenoughhoursintheday weeks so far. I don't really care for weeks like that.

A few problems – the first being my tomatoes are quickly outgrowing my indoor hydroponic garden. I need to harden them off but I work until 6 every day this week. This means at most they can get 1/2 to 1 hour outdoors each day unless I risk it and stick them out in the morning and bring them in when I get home (that might be too much yet). I've already decided that f...

Astounding Ignorance

So last night's announcement that Osama Bin Laden had been killed and the recent nonsensical babble of Trump for president made me realize just how little certain people really know about politics (and budgeting money, which I guess shouldn't surprise me since so many Americans are in debt) and how some of us cheer for politicians like we would our favorite baseball team. Some people give as much consideration to who they vote for as they do choosing their favorite Actor or Comedian. Smart...

Oops – Forgot to Post

I actually forgot to do my regular post yesterday. I post daily because it's an exercise in staying productive and making sure I write something every day. Writing every day is a good habit for any writer. If I waited until I always had something pithy to say, I'd only post a few times a month and would probably fall into a state of laziness.

So I've mostly been working with an author friend, Miss Payton Rome, on the editing of her forthcoming erotic romance novella Sophie Will.  I'll write a ...

Rigidity Makes for Bad Magicians

Rigid magicians are limited magicians. Now this is just my personal opinion, but let me share with you why I think this.

First let me define what I mean by "rigid" magician. The rigid magician is one who follows magick by-the-book, follows rigid definitions, or has an impersonal magickal path that he follows to the letter.

First, when you follow something rigidly you are not thinking for yourself. You are allowing others to define your reality for you. Since I believe the successful magician...

Flow

Ah, the story is flowing again. Sometimes you have to go to the end to better understand the middle. Earlier today my antagonist finally revealed the ending of Into Darkness.  Don't get me wrong – I kind of had an idea where the story was going, but the exact details weren't forthcoming. I write organically.  I start with a vague idea. I kinda know the start and the finish, but what happens in order to get there and what actually happens when I get there is often a mystery to me until it...

Author Profile: Rufus Opus

So those of you who know me know that I am an open-minded practical magician. I work across magickal schools of thought. I'm not above a little kitchen witchery and I'm certainly no stranger to the three great pillars or The Great Work. I'm all about Hermetics, Alchemy, even Wortcunning and I secretly have a love for Grimoiric Magic. I am a Lon Milo Duquette fan-girl. All the while I think Michael Ford is brilliant, Daniel Schulke is fascinating and I love David Rankine, Stephen Skinner, and ...

A Reading

My friend Amy gives me regular readings. Here is this month's.

Move ahead in your work with extreme caution to protect your livelihood. There are enemies who want to take what you have for themselves.  The leader is one you know. Her own insecurities drive her. You fear failure and yet seek success. Through resolve, action, resolute steadfastness you will always prevail because you are optimistic and persistent even in the face of difficulties.  The past repeats itself. Sometimes you must...
