Wobble Wednesday

Evidently Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down. Just so you all know…

So today is day three of the exterior renovation of the house. Evidently the roofers called this morning wondering if they could start work Friday. Problem is, we don't know if the stone contractors will be done with the front steps and porch by then (they told us they may be done tonight!). This morning they were putting in the fill and grading it away from the house and by noon I got a picture showing a full PaveStone ...

Dream File

Here's another interesting dream for the dream file.

So I walk into the basement at the family business office. I'm wearing shorts and I feel something bizarre on my legs. Like cold prickles.  I look down and there are huge webs everywhere. No spiders that I can see, just tons of webs. Funny thing is, when I walk through them they aren't disturbed or broken. So I find myself stuck in the middle of all these webs and the only way out is to walk through the webs. Only one tiny problem — I'm not ...

Offensive

Evidently I have this bad habit of offending people by being blunt with my feelings and opinions. I guess that's the best way to offend someone if you're going to do it. It's better than lying to someone's face or pretending to be something you're not.

My recent comments about Sarah Palin offended someone (allegedly). So if I have offended anyone with my comments I guess there's really nothing I can say for myself. I did make the comments and I meant every word. My opinion hasn't changed...

Generating Ideas

I have to admit that I absolutely stole the idea for this blog post after reading a post on Sophie Littlefield's Blog about her "secret" plot lunches with fellow authors. She's right. This is a question we writers get often. Where do you get your ideas?

Ideas, for me, come from everywhere. People I meet, things I read in the news, stuff I hear from friends. I usually discuss my plots with my husband over dinner. I don't have some secret writing cabal I belong to (::heavy sigh::). Though I'd l...

A Weekend Shout-Out

With the warm weather comes my urge to escape into my garden to play in the dirt. That's where I was most of the weekend.  All of my gorgeous hydroponic-started veggies are safely in their pots and doing awesome. This is the first year my tomato plants are doing this well so early in the season.  The fruit trees are planted but it could take a month to see if the transplants took.

The stone-masons will be here bright and early tomorrow morning.  For FB friends – pics coming Wednesday night...

Friday Five

Five things I have to share this Friday:

1. The bulk of our home improvement project will be done by the end of the month, sans painting and gate. (And removal of old shed)

2. The tomato, peans, beans, and tomatillos are doing great (looking healthy now) and the fruit trees are planted.

3. I did an interview over at Lindsay Buroker's site about ePublishing and novellas. If you're the writerly type – check it out!

4. Art… stay tuned. (Oh, and #limitededition)

5. Still working on Into Darkness.

And o...

Bibliophile

Today I was thinking of collections after someone asked me how much I paid for a certain series of books that is worth a substantial amount of money now that it's no longer in print. I collect rare, limited edition and unique books about the occult. Some of the oldest stuff in my collection dates back to the late 1800′s.  But a lot of it is newer stuff that was limited edition including Azoetia (Chumbley) and Viridium Umbrus (Schulke). I have a hand numbered, late 1800′s printing of Remy's...

Life, Writing, Updates

In writing news I just received three new covers in e-mail today along with a brilliant proposal for another possible DB Publishing title.  Still working diligently on Into Darkness and we changed the name of the next OTS book from Darkness Rising to Risen Darkness. As it turns out there was another paranormal from another publisher coming out later this year with the 'Darkness Rising' title. Since OTS #3 isn't scheduled for publication until sometime next year – we figured we should change t...

Writers Who Produce More…

…are awful. It's an interesting accusation. I have a different take on this. Especially since I'm in the high production category.

Some of us are just terribly prolific, sometimes to our own detriment. If you actually knew just how much I wrote (not including these constant blog posts) you'd probably be amazed and ask me when I sleep (I don't). You have to remember that while I'm married, I have no kids. I'm also somewhat misanthropic and anti-social so my social life exists a few times a...

Fabulous Fiction!

So this weekend I'm finally making great strides in Into Darkness!  The first 1/4 has already endured and passed the first revision pass. I'm working on the second quarter of the MS now. While I'll have to stop working for about five hours this afternoon (another grad party) I'm hoping to have half the manuscript through its first revision paces come Tuesday. I also have next weekend off so with any luck (and a lot of hard work and concentration) I will have the first revision pass 100...
