Sunday Goodness

I am SO happy I'm not going grocery shopping today. I'm trying to move it back to weeknights. Why? Because you can actually move through the store a lot easier on a Monday or Tuesday night at 7:30 or 8:00 pm.  The lines are shorter. You aren't playing dodge cart. Don't get me wrong, I like people just fine – just not in large groups.

Having dinner with my sister Thursday night. I'm really excited about that. We both get so busy we don't always have the opportunity to get together without the k...

Two Strats Down – Three to Go!

The Belladonna and Mandrake are officially in the nursery and the Nightshade and Cypress went into cold strat today. The Calamus has another week-and-a-half in cold strat before I can plant. I need my sprayer bottle. I can't find it. So when I stopped by Lowes for the seeding soil I had a great chat with the lady in gardening about experimenting with plants that don't grow in the Colorado climate. Especially the Cypress, which I'll have to keep trimmed (since it's a tree!) and bring in every ...

The Decline of Big Publishing

Every week there seems to be a new article out about how authors are eliminating the middle man and jumping straight into self-publishing.  The latest is an article in the Huffington Post by Mark Coker, founder of Smashwords. The stigma of self publishing is beginning to decline in a big way. Something those of us who are Indie and small press (of the "unrecognized" variety) are glad for. More and more – my books are being bought by folks who just want to read something decent without...

It's All About The Characters

Characters are a passion of mine. I love people watching and finding out what makes a person tick. I think most writers are empathic in this way. A friend of mine recently asked me how writers come up with compelling heroes and heroines. Something Marion Zimmer Bradley once said to me in a rejection letter years ago floated to the surface of my mind. She said, "Stories are always about characters." So where do our favorite writers get their characters? Well, from those around us, of course...

Get Sincerely, Megan for .99 cents!

Get Sincerely, Megan for .99 cents throughout the month of March!

READ AN EXCERPT. Password is IAMOVER18. By clicking the link and entering the password you are agreeing that you are over 18.

Megan's imagination and libido are out of control. She just can't stop fantasizing about Father Michaels. So when she steps into his confessional just to be closer to him and confesses all her sinful thoughts, she's surprised when Father Michaels offers her private counseling. Little does she know what...

Thwack-a-Thursday

So last night I climbed up on my stool (I'm 5'2″ and my Aerogarden and other seedlings are on top of a six foot tall cabinet) only to be surprised with a tiny little coriander seedling. I had to take the dome off of him. Hopefully it's not too cold for him where he is. I replanted some chive seeds in the three remaining (and empty) seedling pods and we'll try again for germination.  In the meantime, the basil seedlings are doing awesome. I love my Aerogarden. I think everyone who loves...

March 2011: Surrender: Tales of Submission

So guess what should be available by the end of the month? My novella anthology in paperback! Yep! Surrender: Tales of Submission will include Sincerely, Megan, Nice Girls Don't, and Weekend Captive all in a 188 page paperback! Own all your favorite Anne O'Connell novellas. Purchasing links forthcoming (obviously once it's available). Still waiting on my proof.

For those wondering why the erotica is also going out in paperback, well here's the thing - not everyone has an e-reader and the...

Loving My New Site

I am SO loving the new website. Now that this little diversion is done, I need to focus on Into Darkness. I'm not going to spend a whole post lamenting on all that needs to be done or things that have come up in the MS. Suffice to say each novel presents its own unique challenges and this one is no different.  I'm still having a blast writing it – so that's good.  Now in other news the day job has been terribly hectic this week. But I expected as much with a payroll and billing in the same...

I've Moved!

The new website and blog are up and running!  As of last week, this blog is closed. After this, I will no longer be posting here. Remember a few months back how I said I wanted one website - one blog - all at the same place? Well - I have that now (happened a little sooner than I expected). So if you haven't already - run on over to http://www.sjreisner.com/ (or any of my other domains - they all point to the same site these days) and bookmark it. I'll get a networked blog widget over there as soon as possible (once I figure it out).  :) Thanks for reading!
