“The Perfect Life”
is an epic electronic soul track, which showcases the collaborations album to dramatic effect. Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips joins Moby to deliver an uplifting and melodic anthem. The much-anticipated video for the “The Perfect Life”was shot in L.A with Coyne and Moby dressed as Mariachis. The casting call was posted on Moby’s Facebook and included some very specific extras, "S&M gimp rhythmic gymnast", "eight roller-skating ghosts", "12 goth choir members", "2 obese bearded bikers in red speedos", "a punk rock brass brand" and "a drunk king: guy with beard age 35-50." The video will be premiered on September 3, details to be announced. Watch the video trailer here: http://youtu.be/Ci3jMgVSCNc Moby comments on the impromptu teaser: "A few weeks ago Wayne and I spent the day making a video for 'The Perfect Life'. then at the end of the day we broke out an acoustic guitar and gathered all of the extras on a rooftop overlooking L.A and sang an unrehearsed, impromptu version of the song. Please keep in mind we had no idea what we were doing." Moby comments on the collaboration with Coyne: “Wayne Coyne and I ended up doing a duet on ‘The Perfect Life’: we sing the choruses together, and then go back and forth on the verses. Wayne and I first met in 1995, when The Flaming Lips and I were both opening up for a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ European tour. We became friends, shared a dressing room and the same bad craft services, and watched the Chili Peppers from the side of the stage. I thought of Wayne for this song because The Flaming Lips have evolved in this very open, celebratory band when they play live, and that was the perfect vibe for what I was imagining for ‘The Perfect Life.’ I texted Wayne and said, ‘Hey, I have a song – want to sing on it?’ Thirty seconds later, he texted me back: ‘Yes, send it to me, it will be great.”
Innocents
is a record of firsts for Moby. The first time in his career he worked with an outside producer, friend Mark “Spike” Stent, whose résumé includes Madonna, U2, Muse, Björk, and Massive Attack. In addition, this is the first time Moby has concentrated an entire album on collaborations which as well as Wayne Coyne (The Flaming Lips) features alt-rock legend Mark Lanegan, Cold Specks, Skylar Grey – best known for co-writing and performing on Eminem and Rihanna’s, “Love The Way You Lie;” indie-folk singer Damien Jurado, and Inyang Bassey who was the vocalist on “The Right Thing” from
Destroyed

by Mookie Stevers at Waversons Magazine The Growlers new EP Gilded Pleasures is a sweet new little brother to Hung at Heartthat is fresh, plump and ready to slap. "We are still confused on what the point of releasing little increments of music at a time is worth. If we had it our way we would be doing a full length album every couple of months," says Nielsen. And so again with little time and a lot of ideas, The Growlers have put together 9 songs whittled down from 13 in under two weeks. "Writing songs comes easy, our love for creating is never-ending, its the guidelines that create difficulties." The album titled Gilded Pleasures has an R&B makin' out on mushrooms feel that accompanies their previous release perfectly. It was recorded and co-produced at an old pump house in Topanga Canyon by Kyle Mullarkey and The Growlers. Mullarkey has been an influence and big brother to them from the beginning, especially his work with The Grand Elegance and the Abigails. Two bands that had helped prepare Mullarkey for confined corners with the infamous Big Kids Los Growlers. When asked why the name Gilded Pleasures? "We made simple songs with a little soul for our satisfaction, then we brought them into the studio and covered them with reverb and ribbons of tape for our fans listening pleasure. This record is simple and soulful and reminds me a lot of the early Growlers that a lot of our new fans never got the chance to hear," said Nielsen.

With a North American headline tour launching this week, Australian electro pop pioneers Empire Of The Sun reveal a five-track video EP "Live At The Sydney Opera House" today via Vevo and announce details of forthcoming single and remix bundle "DNA" from their latest album "Ice On The Dune" (out now on Astralwerks).
Following a summer of multiple festival plays including HARD 2013, Bonaroo, and Life Is Beautiful, Empire Of The Sun return to North America for an extensive tour including additional festival plays at Philadelphia's Made In America Festival this weekend and Live 105's Oracle Arena show in Oakland CA. The rest of the tour will offer fans the chance to see the band headline in more intimate settings such as the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., Pier 26 at Hudson River Park in New York City and the House of Blues in Boston. The band will close the tour with a special Halloween Show at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on October 31. (See below full list of dates.)
Capturing the cosmic pageantry of an Empire Of The Sun live show in vivid detail, the "Live At The Sydney Opera House"video EP features live cuts from the bands sold-out show at the historic venue earlier this year. Premiering today via Vevo the EP includes performances of "Ice On The Dune" album tracks "DNA", "Concert Pitch", "Ice On The Dune", "We Are The People", and "Celebrate". Watch it here.
Empire Of The Sun also announce "DNA" as the second single from "Ice On The Dune" as a digital single and remix bundle for release September 24 featuring new remixes from Calvin Harris, Alex Metric, Brodinski and more. The "DNA" video will release in full September 5 - in the meantime fans can preview a trailer for the new video via Under The Radar Magazine.
"DNA" follows first album single "Alive," a #1 Billboard Dance/Club Play hit and #1 HypeMachine charting track that is currently enjoying radio support from stations such as KROQ, KCRW, and more. The band made its U.S. television debut performing "Alive" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" earlier this summer and the "Alive" video - produced by Kelvin Optical, Inc., a division within Bad Robot - has more than eight million views.
Formed in 2008, Empire Of The Sun is Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau).Two of Australia's leading musician/producers, the duo created a vision that seemed to come from an alternative reality - a post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure known as Empire of the Sun. The resulting album, "Walking on a Dream", went on to sell more than a million copies worldwide and contained the singles "We Are The People", "Standing on the Shore" and the RIAA certified Gold hit "Walking on a Dream." The album helped spearhead the then-burgeoning EDM movement and earned eight ARIA awards and two BRIT nominations. The adventure continues with "Ice On The Dune", which Steele and Littlemore produced with the Walking on a Dream production team.

Austin's favorite experimental pop band, The Octopus Project, have returned with their 5th studio album Fever Forms, released July 9th, 2013. The band is proud to present the third single from the record, “Perhap,” which lures you in with its gentle, pulsing synths and a baby's coos only to be obliterated by the ghost of John Bonham guiding a theremin orchestra into 47th dimension. Within their stylistically diverse discography, Fever Formsis most representative of the Octopus Project live experience - dense and euphoric, a concentrated dose of frenetic beats and exuberant melody set in a brilliantly colored sound world. Recorded by the band and mixed in collaboration with Erik Wofford (Black Angels, M. Ward, Maserati), the album has been praised as sounding "as jubilant and ecstatic as peers like Deerhoof or Dirty Projectors and channeling the same optimism and weird charm as The Flaming Lips while pushing their own unique sound" (Fred Thomas, All Music Guide).

Typhoon's new album White Lighter debuted at #2 on the Top New Artists Chart and #101 on the Top 200 this week, marking the bands highest debut to date.
In support of White Lighter, which was released last Tuesday August 20thvia Roll Call Records, Typhoon will head out on a North American headlining tour next Thursday September 5th. The six-week run also includes performances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Pop Montreal and Music Fest NW, along with sold-out shows in Brooklyn, Austin, Chicago, DC and Philadelphia. Modern Outsider is pleased to release "Happier" the latest video from from LA-based Soft Swells Available now on Soft Swells' latest EP, Lifeboats, "Happier" features the indie-pop surf-inspired musical stylings of front-man Tim Williams just in time for the end of summer. Named after the smaller, smoother waves looks for when he is surfing, Soft Swells is an upbeat, poppier take on indie music. You could attribute Tim "falling in love and finding true happiness" as the reason for the hopeful slant on his newest release, an EP entitled Lifeboats. Perhaps you are already familiar with the song and EP, as they have been featured in a recent nationwide ad campaign for Best Buy (if you skip fast-forwarding commercials on the TiVO once in a while, you'd be amazed what you can learn). Mostly recorded in Tim's Los Feliz apartment and producer Dave Lynch's studio in Lewes, England (as well as some pick-up sessions in Hollywood and Ann Arbor, MI) Soft Swells recordings are achieved by Tim and Dave "sending parts back and forth." Sure Tim does all of the writing, but this puddle jumping collaboration works amazingly well for the band. Tim creates the songs, then off to Dave for some sound rounding-out and polish. The new EP features a remix of the original "Lifeboats" track by Jon Visger (Absofacto, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.), a few more original tunes and even a cover of T-Rex's "Children of The Revolution."
In February of 2012 Soft Swells released their first album to the acclaim of everyone from MTV to TIME magazine and USA Today to Consequence of Sound. Influenced by the Brit-pop he loved growing up (Definitely Maybe was the first album that hit him in the chest) his obvious love of melodies, hooks and sentiment shine through with each track. Soft Swells plays to consistently packed houses in LA with an incredible live band featuring Kyle Fredrickson, Matt Mayhall and Christopher Pappas that brings to life the meticulous studio sound perfected by Tim and Dave. And keep an eye out (or two if you can spare 'em) for the video for "Lifeboats," directed by Anthony Garth and featuring O'Neill surf team member Bree Kleintop.

In Summer 2011, Patrick Fitzgerald asked Julian Swales whether he would like to work on some new songs together. Dan Goodwinwas invited to join in the fun and eventually ten songs loomed out of the mist. Ten new songs that sound not as a pastiche of a band 20 years on but, as Julian puts it, are "like a new version sucked through time and space."
Fitzgerald elaborates: "Jules thinks it sounds nothing like old Kitchens, but like a new version sucked through time and space. Dan said he thought it would fit neatly between Death of Cool and Cowboys. Me? Well it certainly sounds like nothing I've recorded these past stephenhero years, so I'm glad as I wanted a change. It's definitely a hark back to the sonic noise of KOD, but the lyrics are wiser, and the songs less fraught. But don't get me wrong, they are no less intense." Folly is KOD 's fifth overall and first since 1994's Cowboys and Aliens. Fitzgerald, Swales and drummer Dan Goodwin formed KOD in South London in 1985 and released their first single, "The Last Gasp Death Shuffle," in 1987. Between 1989 and 1994, the trio released four studio albums before disbanding in 1996 following the release of final single "Feel My Genie."
