Polly Scattergood "Cocoon" video
WATCH NEW VIDEO “COCOON”
NEW ALBUM ARROWS OUT OCTOBER 22nd
Polly Scattergood is eagerly awaiting the release of her sophomore album,
Arrows
on October 22nd, 2013. Arrows reflects Scattergood’s growth as a musician and as a world traveler. Even though Polly was constantly on the go while writing this album with songs finding their foundations created in London, Paris, Berlin and Norfolk her signature blend of storytelling remains the enrapturing main attraction. Youthful, optimistic, enchanting and playful Scattergood embraces and releases her new landscapes and experiences, constantly stretching for new skylines. Scattergood describes the writing process best herself, “This album was my ‘arrow,’ pointing me in the right direction after I was lost - This feels like where I want to be as an artist.” The album’s lead track and second single “Cocoon”will be released via Mute on September 24th.Today we are excited for you to check out the new video for “Cocoon.”Directed by the award-winning Madrid-based video collective
NYSU
; this is the second video they have directed for Polly having enjoyed their time together creating the video for “Wanderlust”, the first single off of Arrows.

Bursting from the “cocoon” of the studio, Polly is also spreading her wings live, but “things have changed a bit,” she affirms: “With the old songs, I had to adopt characters. The big costumes gave me courage to get onstage. I remember gluing bits of diamantes onto feathers for weeks before a gig. Now I’m more confident in the sounds and in myself and where I am in my life. I’m very proud of what I’ve made.” Her dates continue with a show at Koko in London on September 27th. 9.27 - Club NME at Koko (with TedZed) Polly Scattergood:

CocoRosie new tour and album

CocoRosiePhoto Credit: Rodrigo Jardon CocoRosie have just released a new video from their new album, Tales Of A Grass Widow, for the poignant song "Child Bride." Click Here To View "Child Bride" Directed by Emma Freeman, "Child Bride" is an intimate and powerful statement of a video, exploring themes of feminism, sexism, child abuse, human rights and gender inequalities through the brutal circumstances that often result from an arranged marriage. Never ones to back down in the face of controversy, CocoRosie's moving new video is not easily forgettable. Along with the release of CocoRosie's "Child Bride" video comes the launch of Girls Against God (GAG), a new print magazine born from the creative union of Bianca Casady and artist Anne Sherwood Pundyk. With a concentration on bold, feminist exploration, GAG aims to illuminate the oppressive, obsolete nature of traditional, male-defined religions and other patriarchal institutions. Each page of the tabloid-sized publication is lush with colorful perspectives from an international cadre of artists. GAG Issue 1 includes contributors: Antony, Gabby Bess, Melanie Bonajo, Vaginal Davis, Yasmine Hadan, Emely Neu, Kembra Pfahler, Marguerite Stern, Alexyss K. Tylor; and contributions from Johanna Constantine, Mary Hanlon, Julie Higonnet, Molly O’Brien, Chloe Olewitz, Alice O’Malley, Kara L. Rooney, and J.M. Ruellan. Girls Against God is a biannual magazine published through Capricious Publishing, and is available at select bookstores worldwide. The Stepkids will release new album Troubadour next Tuesday,September 10 on Stones Throw Records. The vintage yacht-funk jazz odyssey can be streamed now as SPIN Magazines Album of the Week. The band also sat down for a behind the album video that can be viewed now on the Stones Throw YouTube Channel. After highly praised turns at Bonnaroo and the Stones Throw Soul Tour this year, the bands upcoming shows include a record release event in New York City, a month-long European tour, and dates later this fall with Galactic.
Carefully crafting their own brand of modern music by blending R&B, funk, 70s pop/rock, classic jazz and more with soaring harmonies, the Connecticut trio have made a name for themselves as one of the most artistically diverse bands today. Praise for their 2011 self-titled debut album and for their multi-sensory live show featuring interactive light art projections, led to tours with an eclectic mix of artists including Kimbra, Mayer Hawthorne & The County, Mates of State, The Horrors and more. While touring non-stop over the last two and a half years, the band has been carefully crafting the collection of songs found on Troubadour, an album shadowing the artists' journey to success.
In addition to work on their own music, The Stepkids have been busy collaborating and playing with a number of other musicians. The band was featured on a track from The Jellyfish Mentality, the free album from Odd Future side project the Jet Age of Tomorrow ( Pitchfork ) and, most recently, guitarist Jeff Gitelman collaborated with another Odd Future side project the Interneton new track "Partners in Crime Part Two" ( SPIN ).

TWIN PEAKS & ERASERHEAD music
SACRED BONES UNEARTHS
LOST TWIN PEAKS & ERASERHEAD
SOUNDTRACK CDs
Sacred Bones Records have recently unearthed a select number of CD copies of the soundtracks to David Lynch’s TV masterpiece, Twin Peaks as well as his landmark 1977 film Eraserhead.
Originally released on CD by Lynch over 5 years ago, but now very difficult to find, Twin Peaks: Season Two Music & More compiles the classic music that defined this series. Composed by Angelo Badalamenti with contributions from Lynch, this soundtrack is renowned for the way it so perfectly matched the chilling, sinister, though often quite funny tone of one of the greatest television shows ever. Each song is crafted to fit a certain character, scene or emotion and the listener cannot help but be transported to mysterious world of Twin Peaks.
Last summer, Sacred Bones released a deluxe limited edition version of the original soundtrack to David Lynch’s Eraserhead on vinyl. This reissue is no longer available, having sold out almost immediately. Now Sacred Bones is pleased to make this music available to the world once more, having discovered copies of the soundtrack on CD. Originally released by Lynch himself, these CDs have not been available for over 5 years. This edition of the soundtrack even includes a ten-minute dance mix done by Lynch. To lay in the dark and listen to this dizzying succession of blissful noise is a different way to get “lost” in the vast space of then the visuals of the film itself. It’s no stretch to consider this soundtrack an experimental, early industrial masterpiece. Eraserhead’s individual passion and personal tone shines through even in the thickest moments of fierce static, an audio undertaking that took Lynch and sound designer Alan Splet years to perfect.
These are both available now in stores worldwide and through us at www.sacredbonesrecords.com

Fall Tour Dates With Tim Kasher Announced
"The 11-track LP features previously shared stunners "I Know You" and "All Right Now", and also makes way for "left turns into drunk-in-the-sun bossa nova, blue-eyed-soul ruptured by fuzz guitar, [and] love songs that are not necessarily ballads" - SPIN
"He's approachable and humble, but engage the guy in a little conversation and you will soon realize that he's not quite on the same plane as the rest of us - in the best way a singer-songwriter can be." - Filter
"His best work since Neva Dinova's 2008 high watermark, You May Already be Dreaming." - Paste

MTV Hive premiered the video for "I Know You" from Jake Bellows's critically acclaimed debut solo album New Ocean out now on Saddle Creek and limited edition cassette through Majestic Litter. The video is the second in a series of videos directed by Morgan's Brother and features found film from The Prelinger Archives and Archives New Zealand. MTV Hive said, "'I Know You' is an almost unbelievably sincere serenade professed over a bossa nova beat that makes you feel as warm as its earnest lyrics...it has the feeling of love in the good old days, before nearly every love song came with strings or ulterior motives." Jake Bellows is currently on tour in support of New Ocean and will support Tim Kasher on a West Coast tour this fall. All shows are listed below.
Jake Bellows had quit music. Or so he thought. After fronting Neva Dinova for more than 15 years, which included five full-lengths, a split EP, and countless tours, he packed up his dog and moved from his native Omaha to his girlfriend's hometown of Los Angeles. Two days before he left he recorded 18 demos with musician and engineer Ben Brodin at his insistence. Once in L.A., Bellows got a job installing sliding-glass doors and sold his Les Paul to buy a Datsun pick-up truck.
Though he had no plans to form a new band, he played the occasional solo show, performed with Whispertown, and continued to write songs. In early 2011, an invitation arrived from Omaha's Film Streams Theater for Jake's old friend Ryan Fox also living on the West Coast, to perform an original live film-score. Fox enlisted Bellows and Brodin to collaborate and the trio began to compose and discuss improvisational ideas over long-distance. Since they were all going to be in Omaha and had a long history of playing in each other's bands, Brodin and Fox nudged Bellows into booking studio time to record some of his dormant songs.
Fox and Bellows drove from LA to Omaha that November. They entered ARC Studios for a feverish recording session, arranging and writing parts on the fly with an impromptu band including Heath Koontz, Todd Fink, Whispertown bandmate Morgan Nagler and other old friends. Committing quickly to intuitive arrangements the band recorded 17 tracks in a little more than a week. They worked remotely on the record throughout that winter and spring, adding overdubs in basements and bedrooms across western North America.
The new music is underpinned by philosophical conviction and shaped by an interest in physics, cosmology and mythology. Bellows returned to music with a renewed sense of the intrinsic value of art and its ability to express the commonality of human experience. His debut full-length, New Ocean, offers a mix tape of different kinds of songs hanging out on one record - love songs that are not necessarily ballads despite their introspective gauziness, with left turns into drunk-in-the-sun bossa nova and blue-eyed-soul ruptured by fuzz guitar. Bellows believes that songs change the fabric of the universe through the very frequencies they emit. As such, the record attempts to create the world he wants to see instead of reflect the world that is.

Fourth Full-length Smilewound Out Sept 17 Stream Smilewound at Pitchfork Advance Here
Watch/Embed the 'Toothwheels' Video at YouTube
Icelandic experimental-pop collective múm have offered an early preview of their forthcoming album, Smilewound , out September 17th on Morr Music at Pitchfork Advance. Smilewound was recorded in the band's studio, an old Baltic farmhouse, and on the kitchen table after dinner, among other places, and was produced by múm themselves. Formed in 1997 by original members Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárasoneing, the band has hosted a revolving door of players over the years, and sees the return of third founding member Gyða Valtýsdóttir on this new release.
Following their 2009 album, Sing Along To Songs You Don't Know , the band's fourth effort shows the juxtaposing of two conflicting meanings, taking advantage of the energy created through the tension between both. Sparser in sound than many of its predecessors, it's an airy, relaxed record. múm's capability to build playful electronic sound-ornaments around simple melodies is in full bloom, and these days they know that trimming the ornamentation can strengthen the melody. It's no wonder antipodean pop-princess Kylie Minogue wanted to collaborate with them on 'Whistle,' the main song in 2012 film Jack & Diane , they were hand-picked by Brian Eno to attend last years's edition of Norway's Punkt Festival, they performed at Iceland Airwaves, and they were part of Sónar Festival's first Reykjavík Edition earlier this year.

INNOCENTS OUT SEPTEMBER 30TH
MOBY PERFORMING LIVE AT THE HISTORICAL FONDA THEATER ON OCTOBER 2ND, 3RD, & 4TH
We are excited to share with you the new video from Moby for
“The Perfect Life (Featuring Wayne Coyne),”
the first single off of his upcoming album,
Innocents
. “The Perfect Life” is an epic electronic soul track that showcases the collaborative nature of the album to dramatic effect. Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips joins Moby on an uplifting and melodic anthem. The video features both musicians parading through the streets of Los Angeles with a cast of eccentric characters in tow, including an "S&M gimp rhythmic gymnast", "eight roller-skating ghosts", "12 goth choir members", "2 obese bearded bikers in red speedos", "a punk rock brass band" and "a drunk king." Moby comments on the collaboration with Coyne: “Wayne Coyne and I ended up doing a duet on ‘The Perfect Life’: we sing the choruses together, and then go back and forth on the verses. Wayne and I first met in 1995, when The Flaming Lips and I were both opening up for a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ European tour. We became friends, shared a dressing room and the same bad craft services, and watched the Chili Peppers from the side of the stage. I thought of Wayne for this song because The Flaming Lips have evolved in this very open, celebratory band when they play live, and that was the perfect vibe for what I was imagining for ‘The Perfect Life.’ I texted Wayne and said, ‘Hey, I have a song – want to sing on it?’ Thirty seconds later, he texted me back: ‘Yes, send it to me, it will be great.” On September 10th
Moby
will release an EP for “The Perfect Life (Featuring Wayne Coyne)” including the album single as well as remixes by F**k Buttons, Andrew Weatherall, and a remix by Moby himself.
Innocents
is a record of firsts for Moby. The first time in his career he worked with an outside producer, friend Mark “Spike” Stent, whose résumé includes Madonna, U2, Muse, Björk, and Massive Attack. In addition, this is the first time Moby has concentrated an entire album on collaborations which as well as Wayne Coyne (The Flaming Lips) features alt-rock legend Mark Lanegan, Cold Specks, Skylar Grey – best known for co-writing and performing on Eminem and Rihanna’s, “Love The Way You Lie;” indie-folk singer Damien Jurado, and Inyang Bassey who was the vocalist on “The Right Thing” from
Destroyed
. Moby has announced only
three live shows
in support of
Innocents
at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Go here for tickets:
