Black Lips Announce Theatrical Release

ATLANTA, GA (September 11th, 2013) - Seminal punk rockers and VICE Records artist the Black Lips are hitting the road this fall for a set of select dates which will include a performance as well as a special screening of their new rock and roll feature length movie Kids Like You & Me that shows the punk rockers playing where few western bands have gone before, deep into the Middle East. The band was on a humanitarian rock and roll mission to bridge cultural divides and smash stereotypes with the universal sound of punk rock. The film highlights the flower punk quartet's life changing journey through the land of the pyramids for a documentary that is both heart-wrenching and soul-churning in the midst of pure cultural chaos. Be sure to come check out a screening followed by a Black Lips wild live performance (full dates below).
Kids Like You & Me, directed by Bill Cody, documents a journey through one of the most exciting regions in the world including three groundbreaking stops in Egypt. (The last known American rock band to play Egypt being The Grateful Dead in 1978!) Get on the bus with Black Lips and their good friends, Lebanese indie rockers, Lazzy Lung. See the people of the Middle East the way they really are. Shopkeepers and restaurant owners. Skaters, graffiti artists and musicians. Revolutionaries and dreamers. Kids like you and me. Little Boots aka Victoria Hesketh has returned with a sophomore record of irresistible hooks and stunning songwriting. The Satellite single package, drops today and includes club-perfect remixes by Escort, Lindstrom & John Dahlback. Also revealed today is the “Satellite” video, which Little Boots co-wrote with Ariel Reichstadt and also co-directed herself! Featuring a breathtaking modern ballet routine by Disco Kid competitor Annalise Gray, the video was shot at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom in Victoria’s hometown of Blackpool, Lancashire.

Fade Away , out October 22, the first release on Bethany Cosentino's Jewel City label, in partnership with Kobalt Label Services, sets Best Coast off on a new burst of independence and creativity, which includes another album they'll start recording in November for release this Spring.
And it reflects the increased confidence that Cosentino and her bandmate, multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno, gained in the three surreal years since their breakthrough album Crazy For You. Celebrated as darlings of the lo-fi, it lead to defiantly hi-fi events like performing with childhood idols Green Day and No Doubt, dueting with Kendrick Lamar and Iggy Pop, having Drew Barrymore direct their Chloe Moretz-starring video, creating a new collection for Urban Outfitters, and working with the widescreen producer Jon Brion, who's overseen masterpieces by Kanye West and Fiona Apple, on an album that made Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine's Top Albums of 2012. Producing and mixing this time alongside Bethany and Bobb was Wally Gagel, who's recorded over twenty iTunes Originals sessions, including one with Best Coast back in 2011. This new freedom led Cosentino to a faster-paced, energetic set of songs inspired by Mazzy Star, Patsy Cline, My Bloody Valentine and Ambien. "Everything in this band has worked out so organically that sometimes it scares me that something bad is going to happen. I don't even understand why this is happening. I made some songs, I put them up on the internet, and here I am now. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. together PANGEA is excited to debut "Offer," the B-side off their recently released Snakedog 7-inch. The track is available for stream/embed HERE, and available for purchase on iTunes HERE. The 7-inch was released via Harvest Records, who will also release together PANGEA's upcoming full length.
Recently, the band premiered the title track and A-side to the Snakedog 7-inch via Pitchfork , who called it "an absolute shredder worthy of its awesomely ridiculous title" and suggested that it "should be blasted at this summer's final BBQs" "Snakedog" is available for download and embed HERE. The band is also debuting the Lincoln Caplice-directed video for "Snakedog," which is available for posting HERE.
This fall, the band will head out on tour in anticipation of their upcoming full-length release. together PANGEA will join the Burgerama Caravan of Stars tour, joined by The Growlers, Cosmonauts & Gap Dream. The tour starts on September 16th at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco, CA, wrapping on October 13th at The Karova in San Antonio, TX. Full tour dates are below.
together PANGEA began with lead singer-songwriter William Keegan recording songs on a 4-track tape machine as a teenager. The band truly began to take shape when bassist Danny Bengston and drummer Erik Jimenez joined. They began performing at CalArts and house parties in the Santa Clarita valley in 2008, soon venturing to house shows and DIY spaces throughout the West Coast. These initial grassroots tours were followed by shows at iconic LA venues such as The Echo, Echoplex, the Troubadour and The Roxy, as well as trips to Austin for SXSW. Their debut recording was 2010's cassette-only Jelly Jam , released by Seattle-based label Lost Sound Tapes. Their second album Living Dummy was co-released on LP in the summer of 2011 by Burger Records and The Smell's label Olfactory. Living Dummy was followed up by the Killer Dreams EP in early 2012. together PANGEA have played shows with Wavves, The Black Lips, FIDLAR, Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, King Kahn and the Shrines, Nobunny, Redd Kross, Guitar Wolf, The Strange Boys, and many more.

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES ACOUSTIC EP

US TOUR LAUNCHING SOON "I only started playing the acoustic guitar last year. I'd always preferred the idea that the guitar converts a sound into voltage and then becomes really loud. I thought the acoustic guitar was a little bit too twee for me or something. But after being offered some opportunities to play various acoustic sessions to promote the new record, in situations where it wasn't possible to record the whole band, I decided to treat it like a challenge to try and play acoustic and not have it be lame. After all I was really into Arthur Lee's ability with an acoustic and started wondering if I could make it sound convincing. Anyway, after being somewhat forced to develop some skill on the acoustic through these various radio sessions and things like that I decided to record some songs acoustically and release them since people seemed to be liking the way I was doing it. Everything was recorded straight to tape in my basement with a one mic set up."
"After recording three songs from II I started thinking about doing some other songs that I like. I thought that I'd do an old song I'd always liked even when I was a kid and a new song that I've been listening to a lot recently. The old song is 'Puttin It Down' by Beck. It's on the album Stereopathic Soulmanure and I always loved the lyrics. So funny and so sad. To me this song is super real. The new song is 'Swing Lo Magellan' from the album of the same name by Dirty Projectors. I like how this band who kind of specialize in melting brains leaned on pure melody on that album. The more I listened to it the more I realized how strong this melody was. I found myself listening to it a lot. It reminds me of Velvet Underground or Transformer era Lou Reed for some reason. When I saw them play last they opened with this song and I hadn't heard that album yet and was like 'wait what's that one?'"

Waxahatchee has shared a new music video for the song "Misery Over Dispute", from their critically acclaimed sophomore record, Cerulean Salt. The video features some impressive slow motion tap dancing from Katie Crutchfield, who acquired a passion for tap during her 14 years as a dancer. The video was entirely shot in her hometown Birmingham, AL at The Firehouse, an old firehouse converted into a showspace. Waxahatchee are set to hit the road next week with label mates Screaming Females and Tenement and have announced a winter tour with Katie's twin sisters' band Swearin'.

Finnish duo Shine 2009 are pleased to announce the release of their sophomore album, Our Nation , out October 15th on Cascine (US)/Modular (ROW). Pre-order the vinyl here. The band have also released new track 'Older,' which follows their first single, 'Eurozone,' which Pitchfork described as "a gentle collage of orchestrations, samples, and atmosphere," and BlackBook said was "sinous and sexual, with an almost-dub undercurrent." Montreal producer CFCF also did a remix of the track, which Gorilla vs Bear called "a highly effective early summer soundtrack." Helsinki natives Sami Suova and Mikko Pykärimet in 2004, both noticed immediately their similar tastes in art and music, but it wasn't until much later that their collaboration took a definite form. "We had talked about doing something together for quite a long time, and the spring of 2009 was the moment when we finally decided to give it a try. It was very natural and easy in the beginning - maybe because we had talked about music so much that we knew we shared the same aesthetics. It's very easy to focus on the right aspects of making the music when you don't have to argue about the basics." In choosing the name 'Shine 2009', both Suova and Pykäri wanted to highlight their vision of the moniker being interactive and ever-shifting in its references. "It's an experiment that goes on forever. It started as referring to being current, but it already sounds a bit outdated. The more time passes, the more we feel we did the right thing by adding '2009' to 'Shine'."
With respectful nods to downtempo, soul and golden-era hip hop, their 2010 debut EP, Associates,showcased an undeniable ease and effortless confidence in both sound and feel. 2011 saw Shine 2009 release their inaugural full-length, Realism , a sumptuous and dazzling debut including a cameo from none other than Paula Abdul, strengthening the link between the way-back-then and the right-here-right-now ethos that is at the heart of Suova and Pykäri's aesthetic.

North American Tour Hits Los Angeles October 10 At Fonda Theatre
One of the most durable and consistently successful bands ever to come out of the U.K. band scene, Stereophonics return to the U.S. September 3rd with the release of their chart topping U.K. album Graffiti on the Train ; their eighth studio album, out on their own Stylus Records.
Released earlier this year in the U.K., Graffiti on the Trainentered the U.K. charts at number 3 and has remained in the Top 20 ever since. Affirming that this is their best album in a decade, the album has quickly gone gold and is well on its way to platinum status.
Written by lead vocalist and guitarist Kelly Jones and produced by Kelly Jones and Jim Lowe, Graffiti on the Train is the final piece in the puzzle for a newly refined and cinematic Stereophonics, a band that has London's Sunday Timescalling this album their "least conventional yet", praising its "newfound lightness of touch" and confirming "The album contains Jones's best work of his career."
A storyteller first and foremost Kelly Jones unravels storylines and sketches characters with poetic finesse - inspired by the screenplay he has been working on of the same name, Graffiti On A Train is a fascinating, filmic LP unlike anything the group have attempted in the past. Loosely telling the story of two friends who flee the country after a tragic accident, the record is both reflective and surprisingly fragile.
We find Jones at the helm of all the videos from this album, which he has both written and directed including the first U.S. single, 'Indian Summer.' Upon release in the U.K. earlier this year, 'Indian Summer'marked the band's 26th Top 40 hit on the U.K. charts.
