TINARIWEN Announce US Tour

TINARIWEN ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN LIVE DATES

Band To Tour In Support Of New Album Emmaar Out February 11

World renowned North African band Tinariwen will bring their electrifying and hypnotic guitar sound to venues across North America in 2014 when the group tours in support of their new album  Emmaar  which arrives in stores this February 11th. Included in the dates is the band's first ever appearance at the SXSW Festival. Emmaar is the awaited follow up to  Tinariwen's acclaimed 2011 release Tassili which was recorded in the Algerian desert with an esteemed cadre of musicians including Wilco's Nels Cline and TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone – the album won a Grammy for Best World Music.

Due to political instability in their homeland, Tinariwen recorded  Emmaar  in another desert: Joshua Tree, California. Created over three weeks in the region known for spaced-out rock ‘n’ roll and psychedelic cowboy folk, the new album showcases an organic feel from the rolling hand drums and meandering guitars of album opener “Toumast Tincha” chants to the galloping beats of the forward-marching “Chaghaybou.” “We were not in a proper studio or outside in the desert like Tassili,” Ag Leche says, “we built a studio in a big house in Joshua Tree. Everybody in the same room, with no separation. We wanted something which sounded natural and live.”

Along with the original members who founded the group in the 1980s (vocalists and guitarists Ibrahim Ag Alhabib, Abdallah Ag Alhousseyni, and Alhassane Ag Touhami) and the younger generation who grew up listening to the band and joined in the 1990s (multi-instrumentalist Eyadou Ag Leche, guitarist Elaga Ag Hamid, and percussionist Said Ag Ayad), a group of American musicians appear on the album. Accompanied by Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, Matt Sweeney from Chavez, Nashville fiddler Fats Kaplin, and poet Saul Williams,  Emmaar  (mixed by Vance Powell (Jack White, The Dead Weather) is a richly layered listen solidified by atmospheric textures and gritty guitar-work.

Ash Announce LA Show

Ash Announce 2014 US Winter TourFebruary 13th-17th 2014[image error] Catch Them in Los Angeles: Jan 31st @ The Echo
New York, NY – Ash is excited to announce another US headlining tour at the start of 2014.  The tour follows last Spring’s well-received trek that had the band headlining a number of noteworthy venues including NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, playing a string of dates with Weezer and returning to SXSW for the first time in seven years.  Ash will kick things off this time in the Pacific Northwest at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle on January 27th.  They then work their way down the West Coast and head East before ending the three week plus run with this year’s The Weezer Cruise.  The Cruise kicks off in Jacksonville, FL and has the band joining a stellar line-up that includes Cat PowerToro Y Moi andPalma Violets.

In addition to touring this coming winter, Ash – Tim Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray – have been writing and demoing new material at their Atomic Heart Studios in Manhattan to follow up their  A-Z Series  campaign released in 2012. This comes as the band moves into their third decade together.  Over the past 20 plus years, Ash has built a reputation for cranking out hard edged punk-fueled power pop.  From their earliest gigs as teenagers on the Belfast club scene in 1992 to their first official single in 1993, “Jack Names the Planets,” Ash quickly won recognition in the UK.  In 1996 the British press showered the band with praise for the platinum-selling  1977 , which led to a supporting slot with Weezer and their first trip to the States.  By the end of the ’90s, guitarist Charlotte Hatherley had joined the band, and in 2001, they had another UK hit on their hands with “Shining Light,” from the number one album Free All Angels .  After 2004’s moody  Meltdown , Ash stripped down to a trio again and took up residence in Manhattan at their newly minted Atomic Heart Studios. 2007’s  Twilight of the Innocents was the band’s fifth full-length studio album and last for a major.

Following the release of Twilight of the Innocents, Ash found themselves between labels and decided to take the opportunity to abandon the album-tour-album cycle they had been on for past 15 years and come up with a new approach to releasing music.  The result was the idea for the A-Z Series – born out of a daunting mission to record and release a new song every two weeks.  Originally released in the UK in 2010, they supported the A-Z Series with a European tour that had Bloc Party guitarist (and longtime Ash fan) Russell Lissack joining them live.

In November 2012, the series got its’ first US release and found the original trio returning Stateside this past Spring for their first US tour in seven years, which fittingly included a handful of dates with Weezer.  Since wrapping a very successful US tour earlier this year, the band has returned to the studio with a renewed sense of purpose and set their sights on recording and releasing a new Ash studio album in 2014.  In addition, Wheeler has been working on a solo album that he’s also looking to release in 2014.  More news to come and in the meantime, catch Ash live this winter in the US, confirmed dates below.

The Flaming Lips 1st EP   will be available as a limited edition 12-inch on green vinyl and signed by Coyne. The last time this recording was available on vinyl was in 1986. Bombay Bicycle Club's "Carry Me" Video Premieres on VEVO

Bombay Bicycle Club's "Carry Me" Video Premieres On VEVONew Album 'So Long, See You Tomorrow'To Be Released Feb 4, 2014
BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB's music video for their song "Carry Me" premiered on VEVO yesterday. The innovative video reflects the album artwork, paying homage to the great Eadweard Muybridge, known for his pioneering work with stop-motion photography; this echoes the theme of 'continuity' which the album is subtly based around - essentially it is a series of beautiful melodies built around clever loops, all in one giant loop. Watch the video at VEVO at the link below:
Bombay Bicycle Club - "Carry Me" Music Video
So Long, See You Tomorrow is BBC's fourth album in five years and on it they continue to blaze a trail as one of the UK's most prolific and ambitious bands. The album is set to be released on February 4, 2014 via Vagrant Records.
"Carry Me" is one of two tracks shared in advance of the release; the second, "It's Alright Now," can be listened to over at Soundcloud by clicking the link below.
Bombay Bicycle Club - "It's Alright Now"
Penned by multi-talented frontman Jack Steadman - who wrote the album while travelling through India, Turkey, Europe and Tokyo, leaving it audibly awash with references from each of these cultures - he intended it from the outset to tell a story from the first track through to its finale. Jack explains: "I think there is a romantic side to it, although I always try to leave the meaning side of a song and theme wide open."Jack also self-produced the effort which was recorded over 18 months in the band's own studio, then engineered and mixed by Mark Rankin (QOTSA, AlunaGeorge) - there are familiar backing vocals by long-time collaborator Lucy Rose and newcomer Rae Morris as well.

Emily Jane White's 'Blood/Lines' out now on Important Records

EMILY JANE WHITE’S BLOOD/LINES OUT NOW
ON IMPORTANT RECORDS

“White alternately invites listeners into her world and keeps them at arms’ length, and that toggling between direct confession and emotional opacity illuminates the best moments”
– Pitchfork

filmic, lushly emotive compositions are here to steal a space in your heart.” - Noisey

“…ominous orchestral splendor” - Stereogum

“…finds beauty, comfort, and solace in the expression of sadness.”- East Bay Express
Emily Jane White’s songwriting is at once generous and tough-minded, reflective and unsentimental - possessing the confidence of a singular voice, inspired by the raveled threads of the uncanny in American culture, including depression-era blues and post-Victorian gothic literature.  Her newest album, Blood / Lines, has garnered critical acclaim and is available now on Important Records.  Purchase HERE / stream HERE via Soundcloud.
Blood / Lines is a collection of gorgeously dark song vignettes built on a foundation of reverbed emotion, rhythmic drive, and minor-key pop sensibility.  After releasing three albums in three years, Oakland’s Emily Jane White wrote over 100 sketches between January 2011 and October 2012.  Blood / Lines is a selected compilation of these songs. Recorded in a secluded studio in Sonoma County, California, the quiet environment provided Emily a place to explore new directions and to grasp creative control.   With the help of her friends and collaborators Wainwright Hewlett, Shawn Alpay, Marissa Nadler, Nick Ott, and Darwin Meiners, her songs diversify with strings, backing vocals, bass, and heavy drums.

Emily doesn’t wallow in morbidity; instead she considers her work to be unifying, an empathetic reflection on the universality of adversity. Blood/Lines displays loyalty to dark and somber atmospheres through bright sounds, heavy drive, and bold arrangements. Love, anger, and violence move through each vignette. Kinship generates complex intimacies. Love can entrap the unwary and betray the devoted.

LORDE ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES FOR 2014

‘ROYALS’ RULES THE BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHARTS, AT #1 FOR 9 WEEKS

NEW SINGLE ‘TEAM’ IS #1 GREATEST SPIN GAINER ON THE
ALTERNATIVE RADIO CHARTS

"PURE HEROINE"

[Lava/Republic Records]

As 2013 closes in, Grammy nominated New Zealander Lorde continues her worldwide reign. Already becoming the youngest artist to write all of her own material and top the U.S Billboard charts, her debut single ‘ Royals’ [Lava/Republic Records] remained at #1 for an impressive 9 weekstopping the charts in an additional 45 countries and selling 7.5 million copies across the globe.

On December 3rd Lorde released the new video for her follow-up single ‘ TEAM ’, which is also currently climbing the charts. The concept for the video was realized by Ella herself, as explained on her facebook and Twitter “(The video) was borne from a dream I had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was Queen. I dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. And of this world, I dreamt about tests that didn't need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger.” ‘ TEAM ’ is currently the #1 greatest spin gainer on the Alternative Radio charts for 3 consecutive weeks now, and climbed to #4 on the iTunes Alternative Singles Chart. Watch the video for ‘ TEAM’   here .

Her debut album ‘ Pure Heroine ’ [Lava/Republic Records] has already topped most “Year End” lists includingRolling Stone Magazine’s who noted “Lorde's languidly aphoristic lyrics balance rock-star swagger and torqued-up teenage angst”, and The New York Times, who praised “(Pure Heroine) commandeers those wide-open spaces with her lustrous voice and angel-choir harmonies carrying serious thoughts.”

On December 6th, Lorde performed live at the prestigious annual Grammy Nomination Concert and came away with an impressive 4 nominations, ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’.

Lorde, also known as Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’Connor, who recently turned 17-years-old back in September, is officially the youngest artist to top the chart since 1987. ' Royals ' recently set a new record for "Longest #1 at Alternative Radio by a Female Artist" with a staggering seven weeks at the top.

As soon as it was released,  'Royals'  stirred up a frenzy online. It reached the coveted #1 spot on Hype Machine, and it has racked up over 150 million YouTube/VEVO views.
