Cat Stevens To Be Inducted Into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

New York, NY—December 18, 2013— Honoring a career that spans almost 50 years, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced that Cat Stevens will be included in the class of 2014. He will be inducted with Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates and Linda Ronstadt.Cat Stevens, also known as Yusuf, is quite honored and with an air of humbleness remarks, “It will certainly bring happiness to a lot of my loyal fans, and fulfillment to all those who have long-campaigned for it—not to mention how kinda embarrassingly good it makes me feel too. The sleepy Peace Train is beginning to chug its way slowly uphill, again.”
The 2014 induction ceremony will be the first ever open to the public and held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 10. Tickets will be made available in January and the ceremony will air on HBO in May.Yusuf’s career began as a teenage London art school songsmith named Cat Stevens, when he penned classics such as “The First Cut is the Deepest” and “Here Comes My Baby”.His big success came when Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and the Firecat and Catch Bull at Four made him an integral part of the 1970s singer songwriter movement and later an international, multiplatinum selling artist. After his last LP as Cat Stevens, 1978’s Back To Earth, he hung up his guitar and married under a new name, Yusuf Islam. Yusuf then returned with An Other Cup in 2006, his first pop album in nearly 30 years, which UNCUT said sounded “astoundingly like an album from his‘70s heyday”. Following this Yusuf again confirmed his welcomed return with Roadsinger in 2009.

Cashmere Cat is the production alias of young Norwegian producer Magnus August Hoiberg - who has caught a buzz this year amidst rumors of some big name production work alongside Rihanna hit-maker Benny Blanco. But while perhaps this is a story you got used to this year as our artists produced for Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Drake, Pusha T, Future, Jeremih, Ludacris, Rick Ross & Kanye West - we're here to present new music with it's own purpose. Not dependent on vocalists, Cashmere Cat's own music is crammed full of smart melodic ideas and arrangement. These are songs built in equal parts from glittering RnB, touching on French electro, driven by the heavyweight bottom end of 00's club Hip Hop - this is wide, cinematic and unabashedly bright new dance music. Rarely does a new artist emerge with such a unique voice across their work - Cashmere Cat is unconcerned with where he fits with DJs and is more influenced by Pop & Hip Hop than today's stadium filling dance acts. But his music is smarter for it.
Ahead of his first vinyl release in January - the four track Wedding Bells EP - we bring you a taste of what's to come with a single entitled "With Me". Thick, satin grand piano chords open an unusually romantic refrain which collides into Death Grips-esk distorted percussion and Cat's hallmark autotune solos building towards euphoric thizzing crescendo before collapsing to a single beating broken-heart.
For those previously familiar with Cashmere Cat, the Wedding Bells EP represents the next stage in his development with striking attention to detail whilst never loosing its hooks. Along with support so far from: Kode 9, Éclair Fifi, Nguzunguzu, Hud Mo, Rustie, Baauer, Diplo, Skrillex, A Trak,Brodinski - We are honored to be working with CC to bring you his attempt at a perfect thing in an imperfect world.

Produced with Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater Kinney, They Might Be Giants, plus many more) and features collaborations with Patty Griffin, members of Lambchop, and Courtney Tidwell. Ancestortells Jack's lifetime of experience into songs that use the esoteric narratives of an American rambler to elucidate the celestial worlds within each of us.
Intensely meditative, the album patiently explores the hardness of the coal mines, the mystery of suicide, the comfort of a dog's acceptance, the idea that forgetting all you know can be the first step towards hearing and reconnecting with your muse, and one man's gratitude for the love he's been given and the life he's had the chance to live. Based in Nashville, but raised in a coal miner’s company house on the banks of Buffalo Creek, West Virginia, Stone Jack Jones is the descendant of four generations of coal miners. After being rejected from military service in Vietnam due to epilepsy, and discouraged from pursuing the coal mining business, Jack picked up his fiddle and began a life of wandering. By the time he landed in Nashville, where he met Roger Moutenot, Patty Griffin, and Kurt Wagner, Jack had worked as a carny, an escape artist, a ballet dancer, a professional lute player, and even owned a strip club.

Cherry Glazerr are excited to share the first cut from their upcoming debut album, entitled "Haxel Princess." The track mixes delicate vocals with super gloomy melodies and punk guitar riffs.
The three-piece band from L.A. took root in 2012 when front woman, songwriter/guitarist Clementine Creevy began making bedroom demos under the name Clembutt. These rough tracks evolved under the mentorship of Lucy Miyaki, of L.A. band Tashaki Miyaki, and were later recorded with engineer Joel Jerome. After adding bassist Sean Redman and drummer Hannah Uribe, the band was formed, and Burger Records released their first collection, Papa Cremp, on tape.
With dreamy vocals and an ethereal guitar, Cherry Glazerr's "Trick or Treat Dancefloor" has become the band's best known song to date, having been featured in a campaign for iconic fashion label Saint Laurent as well as in the television show Arrow.
But the band goes beyond shoe gazey, lo-fi dream pop. Their bare bones style and precise, honest lyrics anchor a diverse sound that ranges from White's Not My Color This Evening, with Sleater Kinney's post punk influences to their break out song, the surf pop "Teenage Girl", which premiered on internationally known style site Rookie Mag and has over twenty thousand listens on Soundcloud.
Cherry Glazerr consistently tour in Los Angeles and Orange County, having played festivals Burgerama, Growlers Beach Goth Party and Jubilee in Downtown L.A. where they shared the stage with Bleached and The Black Lips. Most recently, they played the El Rey, opening for legendary 80's punk band Redd Kross and Mikal Cronin. The band's name is taken from NPR reporter Cherry Glaser, and the band has been invited to visit the NPR station.
Their latest album Haxel Princess will be released on Burger Records on January 14, 2014.

Los Angeles duo, Gliss, is pleased to announce the release of their latest video for "Waves". The track appears on their latest release, Langsom Dans Deluxe Edition, available now on Modern Outsider. Victoria Cecilia explains about the video, "The song is a story about two people who have to say goodbye to each other and realize how much they are gonna miss each other. I wanted to capture that emptiness you feel after you lose someone you love, whether it's a family member, friend or a lover. I Filmed the video throughout Europe. At the time Martin had just lost his mom to cancer, and I feel his loneliness and emptiness really was captured in this video, and in these lost feelings you regain strength and hope. We move on and will look for happiness again."

The 12-track LP features heavy synths and electronic beats with Danish expatriate, Victoria Cecilia, stepping into the role as lead singer. The passionate vocal harmonies dictate the recordings with stories of coming out of the darkness into a new life, bringing to mind The XX, Portishead and Depeche Mode.

Today, New York's Caveman announce their American leg of the Phosphorescent tour after having toured in Europe together last month. That tour will be followed by their first stint on the Weezer Cruise which takes off in Jacksonville, FL, and afterwards the six piece (they are joined by Matt Clark from White Rabbits) will play shows opening forToro Y Moi as well as perform headline shows. Next summer the band will tour in Europe again after their successful trip last month. (see full details).
The band just revealed an unreleased B-side called "Empire" which you can hear HERE and Vacationer remixed their track "In The City" HERE.

Betty Black (aka Sylvia Black) has just released the video for “Fatality of Love” (Deantoni Parks Fatal Mix). This is the second video from the recently released Fatality of Love (The Remix EP). Avant-garde drummer/artist and former KUDU band mate Deantoni Parks (who has also worked with Mars Volta, John Cale, Me’shell Ndgeocello, Kimbra and Bosnian Rainbows) put a hypnotic, late night spin on the smoldering original. The corresponding remix video re-imagines the original directed by Jessica Bennet, with Betty Black enraptured on a sofa and beckoning the viewer. Both videos were styled, art directed, and edited by Black. Watch the video on and .
Fatality of Love (The Remix EP) also includes additional mixes by Aram and French producer/composer Pino Rastovitch (whose quixotic downtempo rework recalls AIR and Goldfrapp), as well as, the new recording “Possessed”.
It’s the latest offering from Betty Black’s gritty and darkly seductive album Bad Weather, which includes “Killing Time”, the slow-burning “Am I Not Your Girl?”, the anthemic title track and the haunting “Bitter Moon”. Released this past summer with the bonus track “Bad Weather (Antipop & Analog Boy Remix)” fromTélépopmusik’s own Antipop and former Autour de Lucie guitarist, Analog Boy, the gripping set was composed, arranged and produced by Black along with co-producer/engineer Rudyard Lee Cullers (Yeah Yeah Yeahs/ Basement Jaxx/ Bright Eyes) and Jamin Gilbert.
Betty Black is the brainchild of multi-talented singer/songwriter and musician Sylvia Black. Over the past six years, Black has established herself as a sonic rebel with an indomitable spirit and a fearless approach to music. She’s gained international acclaim as the lead vocalist for New York-based dark electronic pop outfitKUDU, and for her successful co-writes and collaborations with Black Eyed Peas, Moby, William Orbit, Kelis, The Noisettes, Spank Rock, Benny Benassi, The Knocks and, most recently, RUN DMT and Télépopmusik, which have amassed sales over 5 million copies worldwide!

Acclaimed British rockers Peggy Sue will kick off 2014 by touring the U.S. in advance of their highly anticipated third full-length Choir of Echoes , out January 28 on Yep Roc Records. Joined by Mandolin Orange and Mariner’s Children (Peggy Sue bass player Ben Rubinstein solo), on select dates, Peggy Sue will play shows in New York, Los Angeles and more. The video was created from found footage that the magazine calls “eerie” and can be viewed on YouTube HERE. The band says, “‘Idle’ is a song about being unemployed and incurably thoughtful. The opening and closing parts are a kind of troubled gospel song—a prayer for purpose in the knowledge that the purpose will probably not be a ‘good’ one. It’s about impatience and distractions and thinking about things too much. And of course it’s about a boy.” Choir of Echoes was produced at the legendary Rockfield Studio in South Wales by Jimmy Robertson and mixed by longtime collaborator John Askew. Of the record, the band says “Choir of Echoes is an album about singing. About losing your voice and finding it again. Voices keeping each other company and voices competing for space. The call and response of the kindest and the cruelest words. Choruses. Duets. Whispers and shouts.” The new album follows 2011’s Acrobats, which NPR called “mountainous and brooding.” Additionally, 2012 saw the self-release of a collection of reinterpretations of the groundbreaking soundtrack to Kenneth Anger’s 1963 cult classic short film Scorpio Rising. The 12 tracks resulted from their performances playing live alongside a screening of the film, and were issued as a series of 1,000 hand stamped, packaged and signed CDs. Peggy Sue is singer-guitarists Rosa Slade and Katy Young and drummer Olly Joyce. Since the release ofAcrobats, the band has toured across Europe and North American with the likes of Jack White, Wild Flag, Joan As Policewoman and labelmates First Aid Kit, including a recent stop on the main stage of this summer’s Green Man Festival.
