Perfect Pussy Announce Debut LP, Premiere New Track

PERFECT PUSSYPhoto Credit: Jake Thomas Perfect Pussy are one of the boldest and most intriguing projects to surface in recent years, garnering widespread critical acclaim following a self-released four song cassette-only EP, titled I have lost all desire for feeling.
Veiled beneath layers of exquisitely abrasive noise, frontwoman Meredith Graves' lyrics are disarming, brutally honest and poetic, possessing a feverish intensity that can only be matched by her electric stage presence. The band's debut full length and first release on Captured Tracks, Say Yes to Love, is a frenetic and fast-paced juggernaut, capturing a pivotal young band just as it's ready to explode.
The first track from the album "Driver," was today reviewed by Pitchfork, who awarded it a Best New Track saying, "Driver" makes it clear that Perfect Pussy demand a commitment from their audience that is as total, full-blooded, and unwavering as their own." They compare the song to the band's earlier work noting, "There's a touch more clarity here, but little else has changed: Singer Meredith Graves continues to spit fire while guitars torch the earth around her."

Milagres Reveal Funked-Up Single, New Dates

Milagres

“Jeweled Cave” MP3 Drops w/ NYLON Today

Sophomore LP, Violent Light, Out 2/25 via Kill Rock Stars

Full US Tour Continues, Including SXSW!

“ …a heart slowing way down, big exhales and even bigger inhales.” FADER

“The group's dynamic arrangements and instrumentation provide the perfect bed for singer-songwriter Kyle Wilson's shape-shifting voice…” NPR

Following their critically acclaimed 2011 debut LP, Glowing Mouth, Brooklyn indie rock quartet Milagres have just announced the release of their sophomore full-length album, Violent Light , on February 25th via Kill Rock Stars in the US (2/24 via Memphis Industries in the UK). Channeling influences as diverse as Al Green, Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush, Violent Light finds the band exploring the connection between ancient humanity & the advanced science of the present day.

Milagres fill Violent Light with richness and delicacy. Combining “a David Bowie-like theatricality with a sprawling prog groove.” ( SPIN ), The Letterbomb ” is a fuzzy, funked-up track that launches into a flurry of driving guitars, experiments using vocals as percussion. Psych-pop album cut “Jeweled Cave” immediately bursts open with bouncing synths and a driving bassline setting the stage for Kyle Wilson’s irresistible vocals. The “Jeweled Cave” MP3 premiered with NYLON today and is available HERE for posting.

Milagres consists of Kyle Wilson, Fraser McCulloch, Chris Brazee & Paul Payabyab. The follow up to their critically acclaimed 2011 debut album, Milagres latest effort was produced by Fraser McCulloch and applies their unique writing style & self reflection in the modern world. Violent Light introduces a darker, harder sound for the group, ranging across styles from dream pop to funky classic rock.

Catch Milagres on tour & stay tuned for more news coming soon!

Kelly Zutrau, Martin Sulkow and Joe Valle have been making music together in various outfits since meeting as students in New York in 2006. What began as a long-distance collaboration between Providence, New York, and Los Angeles led to string of shows and self-releases in the summer of 2012. A year later, and they've already managed to find the delicate balance between slow-motion R&B and minimal indie pop. Pooling all their influences, Wet touch upon everyone from Solange to The XX to Patsy Cline, while still conveying a blissful simplicity that tugs at your heartstrings and forces you to hang onto their every waking word. Their self-titled debut EP is out now on Neon Gold Records.

Last year's sold-out 2013 edition of the festival cemented Governors Ball as a "major contender" (Rolling Stone) among North America's premier music events. In three short years Governors Ball had grown from a one-day event with 12 acts in 2011, to an all weekend three-day affair featuring a world class lineup of the most compelling and in demand performers around. Considering New York City's reputation as a notoriously challenging market, the success of Governors Ball has been incredible and humbling for NYC based festival producers/owners Founders Entertainment. Each year they strive to repay the support of Governors Ball patrons by working tirelessly to expand and improve the festival experience for attendees. Founders Entertainment will host a Reddit AMA to take feedback and answer questions from Governors Ball patrons between 2 and 4 pm EST on January 22nd.
The coming 2014 festival will build upon the size and scope of last year's programming, and Founders Entertainment are also expanding the festival site: allowing attendees to spread out and enjoy new and improved performance spaces, unique art installations, revamped high-end food and drink areas, and an improved location to savor offerings from some of New York City's best food trucks. And of course as in years past, the festival will include a wide array of Governors Ball's popular summer-time activities and lawn games among other attractions.
This year's lineup also pays special homage to the great city Governors Ball calls home. "New York City is the greatest city in the world, and we're blessed to call it our home," says Founders Entertainment partner Jordan Wolowitz. "We're thrilled to showcase some of NYC's greatest homegrown talent at Gov Ball this year. From The Strokes, and Vampire Weekend, to Sleigh Bells, Ratking, and Lucius, we have some of our generation's greatest NYC bands on board to slay the masses. It's gonna be a great weekend."
Founders Entertainment is once again honored to invite attendees to Governors Ball's festival grounds at Randall's Island Park. In addition to being accessible by bus, foot, bike, car, and cab, the festival will again offer ferry service from Mid-Town Manhattan to and from the festival grounds. With each subsequent year of the festival, Founders Entertainment has utilized experience and feedback from previous years to ensure transportation to and from Governors Ball is as smooth and easy as possible.Randall's Island Park is supported, maintained and programmed by the Randall's Island Park Alliance www.randallsisland.org

Death Vessel Bio

Death Vessel's Island Intervals will be released on February 24th in Europe & February 25th in North America via Sub Pop. You can now stream the second offering from the new record, “Mercury Dime”  viaStereogum, who had this to say about the track, "at its core, an old-timey folk song, but the shiny marimbas and swelling orchestration gives it an ethereal air' (see track premiere January 15th).And in case you missed it the first time around, you can also listen to the single “Ilsa Drown,” featuring guest vocals from Jónsi of Sigur Rós. SPIN says of the track and pairing, “The pair are a perfect fit. Their high voices glide over the gentle instrumentation, which picks up steam as the song pushes on.”In other news, Death Vessel will support  label-mates Shearwater, beginning March 19th in Atlanta, GA at The Earl and ending on March 29th in Chicago, IL. Please find a complete list of tour dates below.   Island Intervals is the follow-up to Death Vessel’s label debut (Nothing Is Precious Enough for Us) and will be available worldwide on CD/LP/DL February 24th in Europe and February 25th in North America on Sub Pop. The 8-song album includes the singles “Mercury Dime,” “Velvet Antlers,” and “Ilsa Drown.”  Island Intervals was produced by Alex Somers (Julianna Barwick, Sigur Rós) at his studio in Reykjavík, Iceland.
Pre-orders of Death Vessel’s Island Intervals from iTunes will receive a download of “Ilsa Drown” immediately. The album is also available for pre-order at SubPop.com. And, people who pre-order Island Intervals on LP at subpop.com will receive the limited “Loser Edition” of the album on colored vinyl.
More About Death Vessel (from Shearwater’s Jonathan Meiburg):Like Nico's, Jimmy Scott's, or Phil Elverum's, Joel Thibodeau’s is a voice that demands its own sonic and lyrical world, and with Island Intervals, his third record as Death Vessel (and second for Sub Pop), we're treated to the sound of him finding a rich and strange new home among new friends in Iceland who probably saw him as a long-lost relative. Joel's an inveterate and intuitive wanderer; when I met him years ago, he'd just spent a few months traveling the United States on Greyhound buses, sometimes sleeping rough, and making a record from found moments. I remember he had an otherworldly quality about him that I couldn't quite name, like he’d just blown in on the wind (read more at Sub Pop). What People Have Said About Death Vessel:“...An elegant and haunting piece of work.” [“Ilsa Drown”] - Consequence of Sound
“This is one of the most gorgeous things he’s done and a testament to the power of great collaborative chemistry.” [“Ilsa Drown”] - Twenty Four Bit
“His soft, childlike delivery strips the words of all pretension with an innocence that's as wrenching as the best current singer-songwriters.” [Nothing Is Precious… Review] - Rolling Stone
“Thibodeau’s melodies, which have always been pretty, are now beautiful.” [Nothing Is Precious… Review] -  Boston Phoenix
“This is a blissful, radiant, rewarding listen; one recommended without hesitation.” [Nothing Is Precious… Review] - Drowned In Sound
“His pure delivery—he scales the heights, but never over-sings—and cryptic/mystic worldview are still the main attractions.”  [Nothing Is Precious… Review] - Q Magazine

OFF! ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

OFF! ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF NEW FULL LENGTH IN APRIL
SELF-RECORDED SIXTEEN SONG ALBUM WASTED YEARSCOMING ON VICE, FEATURES NEW PETTIBON ART

Punk/hardcore luminaries OFF! have announced the impending release of their new full length  Wasted Years . Slated to arrive April 8, 2014 from Vice Records, the LP is simply the most direct and unprocessed realization of OFF!'s mission yet. In an attempt to capture the sonic embodiment of the album's thematic darkness, the album was self-recorded live to 8-track ½" tape in the quartet's practice space, with a minimum of overdubs and an inability to punch in (i.e. every performance is an unedited take). Recorded immediately after writing was completed, the record captures vocalist Keith Morris, guitarist Dimitri Coats, bassist Steven McDonald, and drummer Mario Rubalcaba in the act of bringing its 16 palpably visceral songs to life. Full tracklist and album art by longtime visual collaborator Raymond Pettibon (Black FlagSonic Youth) below.
Since forming in 2010, OFF! have boasted a relentless recording & tour itinerary that has resulted in some of the rawest, most energizing musical experiences of the new decade. Harnessing and distilling reckless freneticism to its purest essence, they've rediscovered the stripped down core of noise, speed, and rock & roll at the heart of punk rock that previously seemed lost forever. This brutally direct approach has resulted in the kind of glowing accolades (including rave reviews and features from PitchforkNPRLA Times) that some bands spend a lifetime chasing.

together PANGEA Premieres "Badillac" via Rolling Stone

together PANGEA RELEASES TITLE TRACK OFF UPCOMING ALBUMBADILLACPREMIERED VIA ROLLING STONE
BADILLAC OUT NEXT WEEK ON JANUARY 21ST
TOURING THIS WINTER IN SUPPORT OF BADILLAC
together PANGEA STREAM // EMBED "BADILLAC" HERE
together PANGEA is releasing the title track from their upcoming album  Badillac , out next Tuesday, January 21st on Harvest Records. " Badillac " premiered via  Rolling Stone , who noted that the "Los Angeles rockers shoot out of the garage with blistering, harmonica-laden track...Keegan's voice takes on an icy, reflective tone and, as the song progresses, the riffs become heavier and the vocals grow nastier." The song is available for streaming and embed HERE, and Badillac is now available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon.
together PANGEA is receiving much early praise for Badillac, with  MTV News  listing the album as one of the ten "Most Anticipated Indie Albums of 2014," while  Stereogum  declared "gear up for one of 2014's wildest records."  VICE Magazine  awarded Badillac with "Album Cover of the Month," and lauded the record, exclaiming "finally, a garage band with some fucking balls. Let 'em fly, motherfuckers."  MTV Hive  summed up the band aptly, saying "together PANGEA is just one fucking fun band." Referring to the 7-inch that preceded Badillac Pitchfork  said "Snakedog" is "an absolute shredder worthy of its awesomely ridiculous title."
This winter, together PANGEA will head out on a headlining tour in support of Badillac. The tour, which features Mozes and the Firstborn as support, begins on February 1st at Last Exit in Tempe and wraps up on March 5th at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. Full tour dates are below.
together PANGEA do rock 'n' roll as it was meant to be - raw, unpredictable, and probably dangerous, but also blazing with intelligence, emotion, and edgy experimentation. The Los Angeles-based trio made their bones as purveyors of post-millennial punk, but with their third full-length release - and Harvest Records debut - Badillac, they pay their debt to the supersonic 90s rock that first inspired them. The band has not sacrificed a spurt of precious energy, instead integrating nuance and dynamic momentum to songs like "No Way Out" and the undeniably badass title track. The volcanic riffs and massive melodies are matched by an equally provocative lyrical stance, with songs like "Sick Shit" and the album-closing "Where The Night Ends" casting an acerbic eye over the wreckage of the party they helped start - it's 3am and the drunken fun has given way to sexual panic, anxiety and self-doubt. Slightly stoned but by no means slack, Badillac reveals together PANGEA to be both confident and surprisingly committed, their audacious ambition already impossible to contain.
"It might be confusing for people, assuming we're like this garage punk band and then hearing this record," says singer/songwriter/guitarist William Keegan. "But we really don't want to get trapped at all."
Keegan first started writing and recording in his Santa Clarita bedroom, his teenage tapes eventually coming to full flower with the aid of bassist Danny Bengston and drummer Erik Jimenez. Known then simply as Pangea, the band played countless beer blasts in and around CalArts, their boozy mayhem and breakneck pop hooks quickly earning them frenzied crowds throughout the Southern California DIY scene and beyond. A string of seven-inches, cassettes, and LPs - including 2011's ace second album, Living Dummy, released by Burger Records and The Smell's Olfactory label - followed, as did gigs alongside a veritable who's-who of like-minded rockers, including Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, Wavves, and The Black Lips (not to mention 2013's epic "Burgerama Caravan of Stars" US tour).
Badillac was recorded with their longtime producer/engineer Andrew Schubert over three intensive sessions at his Tarzana studio, their roster augmented by second guitarist Cory Hanson (of the electronic pop outfit, W-H-I-T-E). While many bands in their position would have simply continued banging out the party punk, together PANGEA decided to throw a curveball at themselves and their fervent fanbase.
"We wrote like 30 plus songs for this record," Bengston says, "half of which have the same punky bubblegum vibe of our last record. Then we had this other batch of songs, a little more melancholy, a little heavier, a little darker. I think in the end we just decided to try to not make the same record twice."
"When I write, there are certain songs that I feel fit the band," Keegan says, "and then there are songs where it doesn't feel like they fit. At some point, I was like, maybe we should try some of the songs that don't necessarily fit. Because I realized that they do fit - they're just different."
Though Keegan cites such unexpected heroes as Pete Seeger and 21st Century K Records artists like Little Wings and the Microphones, he fully fesses up to Badillac's most primal inspirations. Indeed, songs like "Why" and the cello-laced "No Way Out" fuse classic post punk ambivalence with fist-pumping stadium rock, their neurotic hooks, throat-rending vocals, and fat, distorted riffs hearkening back to the glory days of the alternative nation.
