Marissa Nadler Debuts New Single and Announces National Tour

Marissa Nadler Debuts Second Single and Announces National Tour
New Album July Out February 4th on Sacred Bones/Bella Union
"...grander and more nuanced than her other records, July is Nadler at her most confident and striking." - PopMatters 'Anticipated Release of 2014 '

"...as haunting and delicate as any of her best tracks to date." -  BrooklynVegan

"an airy and ethereal spine-tingler" -  Stereogum

Stream New Track 'Was It A Dream' at  Pitchfork or Soundcloud

Boston-based singer Marissa Nadler has shared new track, Was It A Dream, off her forthcoming sixth full-length album, July, coming out on February 4th on Sacred Bones (US) and February 10th on Bella Union (ROW). After performing at Rough Trade's new Brooklyn space this past November, Nadler has announced a national tour, kicking things off with an album release show on Saturday, February 8th in Brooklyn, NY at Glasslands.
Recorded at Seattle's Avast Studio, the album pairs Nadler for the first time with producer Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Wolves in the Throne Room). Dunn matches Nadler's darkness by creating a multi-colored sonic palette that infuses new dimensions into her songs. Eyvand Kang's strings, Steve Moore's synths, and Phil Wandscher's guitar lines escalate the whole affair to a panoramic level of beautiful, eerie wonder.

July follows Nadler's critically acclaimed 2011 self-titled LP, which she released independently through a successful Kickstarter campaign, selling her own handmade albums (as well as a highly-circulated 'Covers' series) through Etsy. Following several albums on Kemado, her DIY venture earned her SPIN 'Best New Artist,' Vogue 'Artist To Watch,' KEXP, NPR 'World Cafe: Next,'and NPR 'First Listen' accolades, while Pitchfork gave it an "Albums of the Year: Honorable Mention."

Recently collaborating with Angel Olsen and Xasthur, among others, July is the kind of release that reminds you why NPR counts Nadler's songwriting as so "revered among an assortment of tastemakers." This is a singular achievement for the artist, a record she couldn't have made earlier in her career because, as every songwriter knows, she didn't just write these songs: She lived them.

The Warlocks: SAT FEB 8 @ Bootleg Theatre

THE WARLOCKS BEGINS 2014 WITH TOUR DATES FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM
“I love this record. One of the most exciting albums of 2013” - Jim DeRogatis / Sound Opinions“Amid the flash of new bands keen to drive a sonic expressway through your skull, The Warlocks remain a superior alloy of Velvets cool and narcotic Spaceman 3/MBV tropes, as their first LP in five years ably demonstrates.” - MOJO"Some bands play chords, but the so-far-unstoppable Warlocks play clouds -- songs that swirl around you like smoke and probably leave a little haze in your head, too."   - LA WEEKLY "Dead Generation" featured on  Blurtonline.com
TOUR DATES SAT FEB 8    Los Angeles, CA @ Bootleg TheatreFRI  FEB 14  San Francisco, CA @ DNA LoungeSAT FEB 15  Oakland, CA @ Eli’s Mile High Club

After releasing the long-awaited  Skull Worship  in November 2013 through Zap Banana (Cargo Distribution), The Warlocks will launch into 2014 with live dates including the West Coast and Europe.
Stream and share “Dead Generation” at https://soundcloud.com/the-warlocks/dead-generation. View the zombie inspired video for the song at: http://youtu.be/reFUFpDGdGU.Recorded over a two year period, Skull Worship is the Los Angeles-based band’s eighth album and the first new album in five years. The Warlocks construct a dense, more elaborate web of sound, layers of distortion and the occasional synth a la Silver Apples and Red Crayola. “Silver & Plastic” expands the band’s oeuvre into acoustic territory recalling T Rex. Other songs like “Endless Drops” turn to Hawkwind, Neu! and experimental rock for inspiration.
“Not everything fits perfectly on this record,” describes singer Bobby Hecksher. “There are loose parts, fragmented sections and then it rocks all together. It's not perfectly polished like a lot of records out there. More like an expression of moments in time that drip together like a strange dream.”
Bobby continues, “I consider Skull Worship the final musical piece of the trilogy which started with  Heavy Deavy Skull Lover , then  The Mirror Explodes  and now Skull Worship. They are all suppose to be connected with similar cord changes and fragmented weirdness.”

Watch Cass McCombs' "Big Wheel" Video

CASS MCCOMBS PREMIERES VIDEO FOR "BIG WHEEL"WATCH THE VIDEO  HERE
Cass McCombs today premieres the video for "Big Wheel," the (almost) titular track from  Big Wheel and Others , his most recent album. Shot by Cass's long-term friend and collaborator Albert Herter in New York, California and China, its chaotic, clashing imagery and oblique sloganeering are the perfect accompaniment to a song that see McCombs subtlety, yet powerfully dismantle generally agreed notions of Western masculinity and identity with his uniquely irreverent wit and insight.
Well versed in the practice of visually representing the Cass way, Herter's previous collaborations with the artist have come in the form of the beautiful illustrations that adorn the cover of Big Wheel and Others as well as the cover art of 2011's astounding albums Humor Risk and WIT'S END
The twenty-two song long Big Wheel and Others is a marauding marvel of great beauty, insight, humor and mystery that truly sees McCombs at the peak of his mercurial powers - his restless muse making stops at all the strangest, most singular roadsides of rock and roll, blues, jazz, country and more on its nomadic quest for human truth and understanding. In equal parts bucolically gorgeous and thrillingly roughshod, mischievously obtuse and devastatingly direct, painfully personal and cosmically universal,Big Wheel... is the perfect distillation of over a decade's worth of creation and chaos in the life of a true pillar of the American underground.  You can buy Big Wheel And Othersvia all good record stores, iTunes and via Dom Mart.
