Courtney Barnett made her US television debut last night on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, performing the single "Avant Gardener" off her acclaimed album, The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas. Released last week for the first time in North America via Mom + Pop Music, you can check out the stellar live performance of the lead single below. Critics have lauded The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas, with The New York Times comparing the collection to "wildly unpredictable storytelling with rock that works up the scrappy momentum of the Velvet Underground." Pitchfork went on to describe Barnett's lyrical style as "wordy, articulate and dazzlingly witty." You can check out recent interviews with Barnett, where she talks in depth about the new album as well as some new recordings, now at  Noisey Stereogum  and  Grantland
After wrapping up two standout performances at Coachella Festival last week, Barnett will heading out on the road for shows and a string of summer festival slots in support of the album, including appearances at Sasquatch Festival, Northside Festival, Firefly, NXNE, Outside Lands and more. Moog Music Announces The New Emerson Moog Modular System

Moog Music Announces The New Emerson Modular System  Friday, April 25, 2014 - Moog Music unveils one of its largest engineering undertakings, the new Emerson Moog Modular System.

On the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Moog Modular, the first voltage controlled synthesizer, Moog Music is proud to honor Keith Emerson and his seminal collaboration with Bob Moog.  Today, for the first time at Moogfest 2014, Moog Music reveals its three year effort faithfully recreating the iconic Emerson Moog Modular.
In the intervening 50 years since the advent of the first Moog synthesizer, people have steadily come to appreciate the power and flexibility of the early Moog modular systems. Now in 2014, 60 years after Bob Moog started his electronic musical instrument company, with great respect for the tradition, design, and craftsmanship of the original Moog modular systems, Moog Music proudly announces the recreation of arguably the most famous synthesizer in history--Keith Emerson’s Moog Modular System.
Over the last 3 years Moog Music has set out to research and build a faithful recreation of this highly complex, custom instrument. Using the original documentation as well as circuit board and art files for nearly every original Moog module, Moog Engineers have painstakingly recreated the original Emerson Modular System. The new Emerson Moog Modular System is comprised of handcrafted Moog modules built from the original circuit designs and are true recreations of the originals, utilizing the same hand assembly methods used in the Moog Music factory in Trumansburg, NY in 1969. The modules in the new Emerson Moog Modular System are built just as the originals were, by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Even the front panels are photo-etched aluminum (a rare process now), which is the classic and durable, look of vintage Moog modules.

Moog Music is proud to partner with Keith Emerson and salute his pioneering artistry with the announcement that Moog will build a handful of these incredible, custom handcrafted Emerson Moog Modular Systems.
To celebrate the introduction of the new Emerson Moog Modular System, Moog Music featured Emerson as a headliner at Moogfest 2014, where he played a special performance last night onThursday, April 24th and is featuring a live discussion with Emerson today, Friday, April 25th.

Dum Dum Girls: "Rimbaud Eyes" Video Premiere + European Tour

Watch A New Dum Dum Girls’ Video
For “Rimbaud Eyes” From Too True

http://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/19673/1/watch-the-dum-dum-girls-as-punk-cartoons2014 Tour Schedule Extended Through August 10th
Video Premiere via Dazed and Confused
We’d like for you to watch the new Dum Dum Girls’ video for “Rimbaud Eyes,” from the band’s acclaimed new album,Too True, out now worldwide on Sub Pop. The new visual stars the band, was directed by Tamaryn, features cinematography from Bianca Alexis, and animated and edited by Gooby Herms.  Dazed and Confused premiered the video and had this to say, “Wow, the new Dum Dum Girls video is incredible. For the sultry “Rimbaud Eyes”, the guitar four-piece appear as if in Jem and The Holograms, with frontwoman Dee Dee Penny a pastel faerie queen Pat Benetar who knows she has better hair than everyone else at the (peep) show. She struts down a sex shop hyperway, appears in Octopussy-ish 007 sillhouettes before – oh! – climaxing with her band in hyperspace on a heart-shaped platform (see premiere April 24th).”

Dum Dum Girls’ massively successful worldwide tour in support of Too True is underway, with the European trek set to run from May 1st in London, UK at Scala and ending June 7th in Porto, PT at Primavera Sound Festival. Additionally, there are a handful of U.S. festival and club dates to mention at this time: July 20th in Chicago, IL at Pitchfork Music Festival; August 2nd in Santa Ana, CA at the Observatory for Burger a-Go-Go; and August 8th-10th in San Francisco, CA at Outside Lands Festival.  Please find a full list of tour dates below.Dum Dum Girls’ Too True, featuring the singles “Rimbaud Eyes,” “Are You Okay?,” “Lost Boys And Girls Club,” was produced by Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, The Go-Go’s, Richard Hell), Sune Rose Wagner (The Raveonettes) and engineered by Alonzo Vargas at East West Studios in Los Angeles and The Coven in New York City. What People Are Saying About Dum Dum Girls Too True:
Dum Dum Girls continue to explore a sonic and formal intersection of the early 1960s — girl groups, surf-rock, garage-rock — and the post-punk 1980s of the Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. A few chords, a clear melody and succinct verse-chorus-bridge structures are filled with darkly allusive lyrics and floated amid gauzy, sweeping guitar effects. It’s a roomy concept, encompassing spaghetti western guitar touches in “Cult of Love,” new wave momentum in “Little Minx,” stately folk-rock in “Under These Hands,” a weighty undertow in “Lost Boys and Girls Club” and a celestial serenity in “Trouble Is My Name.” - [Critics Choice]    New York Times “Penny's songs are no less quotable for their simplicity, whether she's name-checking 19th-century poet Arthur Rimbaud ("Rimbaud Eyes"), fitting the album's title into the chorus of "Too True to Be Good" or dispensing a perfect goth-pop mission statement in "Evil Blooms": "Why be good? Be beautiful and sad." On Too True, Penny and Dum Dum Girls need barely 30 minutes to prove that a band can be all three at once.” [First Listen] -  NPR Music “.. This album is the perfect-pop balance of cliché and rawness, with mythic ambition and songs that make you a three-minute hero.” [4 / 5 Stars] -  MOJO “Sleek and sophisticated, this third full-length careens from muscular blasts of ’80s guitar rock (“In the Wake of You”) to spectral ballads (“Are You Okay?”). Penny writes hits even if they never become that. Songs like “Too True to Be Good” and “Rimbaud Eyes” are meant to be blared from car radios with the windows down; they’re perfect. -  Boston Globe “Songs like "Rimbaud Eyes" and "Evil Blooms" more than live up to their fashion-goth titles. But Penny is best opening up her sound on big, searching ballads like "Lost Boys and Girls Club," where sad Madonna hangs with the Jesus and Mary Chain, or the Chrissie Hynde-worthy weeper "Are You Okay?" where Penny wanders in a "lavender haze" ("I'm reckless at night/I'm sorry for days"), wearing boozy misery like a black-leather security blanket.” [3.5/5 Stars] -  Rolling Stone

Too True is a bold album, with Dee Dee backed by huge swelling guitars on a series of resoundingly anthemic and unashamedly 80s sounding tracks.” [8 / 10] -  Uncut

NEIL YOUNG TO RELEASE DELUXE BOX SET

NEIL YOUNG TO RELEASE DELUXE BOX SET OF A LETTER HOME ALBUM ON MAY 27th
FIRST RELEASED ON VINYL ON JACK WHITE'S THIRD MAN RECORDS, A LETTER HOME  FEATURES ALBUM OF COVERS RECORDED AT WHITE'S RECORDING BOOTH IN NASHVILLE
BEAUTIFULLY HAND-MADE DELUXE BOX SET INCLUDES TWO VINYL LP'S, CD, DVD, SEVEN VINYL SINGLES AND MORE
April 24, 2014 - (Burbank, CA.) -  Neil Young will release a CD, digital album and a Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set of his recent vinyl album  A Letter Home  on Reprise Records on May 27th. The box set is a beautifully packaged expanded version of the vinyl edition first released on February 21stby Jack White's Third Man Records. The Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set will also contain a Download card for the hi-res Audiophile version of the album. Click here to pre-order  A Letter Home.  Click hereto view the album cover art. Click here to view the Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set package.

Young recorded the collection of covers with White on a refurbished 1947 Voice-O-Graph recording booth at Third Man's Nashville headquarters. Imagine a very simple recording studio not much larger than a phone booth and you'll get the idea.  He describes the album as "an unheard collection of rediscovered songs from the past recorded on ancient electro-mechanical technology captures and unleashes the essence of something that could have been gone forever."  Recorded live to track to one-track, mono, the album has an inherent warm, primitive feel of a vintage Folkways recording,

As for the track-listing, Young chose songs that have personal meaning for him, such as British folk artist Bert Jansch's "Needle of Death" (which inspired Young to write 1972's "Needle and the Damage Done"), Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country," Willie Nelson's "Crazy," Don Everly's"I Wonder If I Care as Much," Bruce Springsteen's "My Home Town," and many others.  Clickhere to watch a video for "Needle of Death"

The album begins with Neil recording a spoken letter to his late mother, informing her of his personal and present state of affairs which sets the tone and atmosphere for the duration of the album. He does this once again at the beginning of Side 2 in a way which could explain why he's selected these particular songs to record. In essence, this presentation is, as its title implies, A Letter Home from Neil. This is a deeply personal and expressive listening experience which is as real and raw emotionally as it is sonically and yet light of touch in its form and flow.

Reprise will release the complete box set, which includes a special "direct feed from the booth" audiophile vinyl version and a DVD that captured the original electro-mechanical process, along with comments from the producers and recording engineers. It includes:

Standard audio LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl
Audiophile LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl
Standard audio CD
DVD with footage from the recording
12" x 12", 32-page full color booklet

Seven 6" vinyl discs pressed on clear vinyl. The 7th disc of this set features a version of Dylan's
"Blowin' In The Wind" backed with an alternate take / arrangement of "Crazy"

The track-listing for A Letter Home is as follows:

A Letter Home intro
Changes (Phil Ochs)
Girl from the North Country (Bob Dylan)
Needle of Death (Bert Jansch)
Early Morning Rain (Gordon Lightfoot)
Crazy (Willie Nelson)
Reason to Believe (Tim Hardin)

I Wonder If I Care as Much (Don Everly)

The Secret Sisters New Album Put Your Needle Down Lands

THE SECRET SISTERS NEW ALBUM PUT YOUR NEEDLE DOWN  LANDS AT#1 ON BILLBOARD HEATSEEKERS CHART
Critically Acclaimed Duo's First Album In Three Years Produced By T Bone Burnett
Album Features New Original Songs Including First Single,  "Rattle My Bones," And "Dirty Lie" Co-Written by Bob Dylan
The Secret Sisters currently supporting country trio Nickel Creek on its entire US reunion tour in April and May

New York, NY - April 24, 2014 - THE SECRET SISTERS long-awaited second album,  Put Your Needle Down  has landed at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The Alabama duo's critically-acclaimed sophomore set was produced by the iconic T Bone Burnett, and marks a giant creative step forward for siblings Laura and Lydia Rogers.  Put Your Needle Down  is currently available atiTunes and other select retailers via Republic Records.
The album's 12 songs - primarily written or co-written by Laura and Lydia - seamlessly blend an exciting and decidedly Southern patchwork of country, blues, Americana, folk, rock and gospel.
Here's what critics are saying about the album:
"[The Secret Sisters'] are as flawlessly retro as Mad Men and as lively and bold as Bettie Page, and their voices ring in impeccable harmonies that soar straight into The Everly Brothers' territory.NPR ALL THINGS CONSIDERED
"While still steeped in exquisite sibling harmonies, this album contemporizes them."   - USA TODAY   "Ethereal harmonies once again take center stage on the Secret Sisters' sophomore album [that] takes the listener back to a time when vocalists valued purity over production. But this time around, they manage to marry their signature throwback sound with a lot more energy."     ROLLING STONE
"Nashville sisters Laura and Lydia Rogers blend country, folk, blues, and gospel as naturally as they harmonize their voices."    - PEOPLE

The album is preceded by the new single "Rattle My Bones," hopping from a guitar gallop into sweet, soaring harmonies from Laura and Lydia, it taps into a delightfully entrancing energy that's both enigmatic and endearing. The new album also features the he-said-she-said accusations of "Dirty Lie," co-written with Bob Dylan. An unfinished song they brought to life, Dylan started writing "Dirty Lie" back in the '80s and when he heard that The Secret Sisters were recording a new album, he sent several demos to them for their consideration and gave the Sisters the nod to finish the song and record it.
Put Your Needle Down  illuminates the many facets of this diverse, dynamic, and darling twosome and sways from the soulful mourning of "Let There Be Lonely" to the coy "murder ballad" "Iuka," and the uplifting musical baptism of "River Jordan."
In support of the album's release, The Secret Sisters are currently supporting country trio Nickel Creek on its entire US reunion tour in April and May.

Feature release new EP Culture of the Copy out 5th May

FEATURE release new EP Culture of the Copy out 5th May via Tye Die Tapes On 5th May, melodic drone-punk three-piece Feature (featuring members of Sauna Youth and Slowcoaches) will be releasing their EP  Culture of the Copy  on Tye Die Tapes, via cassette and digital download. Listen to opening track Psalms here:Feature – Psalmshttp://tyedietapes.bandcamp.com/album/culture-of-the-copy /
The four-track cassette is a long-awaited follow-up to their first EP Memory, released on Cazenove Tapes (run by Lindsay Corstorphine of Sauna Youth, Primitive Parts and Cold Pumas) in 2013. The new EP has been on the cards since Tye Die Tapes heard their first demos almost two years ago and contacted the band wanting to do a release. Inspired by the likes of Vision Fortune, Ariel Pink, The Breeders and Sleater-KinneyCulture of the Copy was recorded by Jen and Liv while still a two-piece at Tye Die Tapes HQ in Sheffield in February this year, and features three new songs plus a cover of Supergrass’s pop-hit ‘Caught By The Fuzz’. With Jen also being in Sauna Youth, Feature recently became somewhat of a supergroup when Heather of punk-slackers Slowcoaches joined the band in late February this year. Lyrics for the EP were inspired by the book Culture of the Copy by Hillel Schwarz, which is a cultural history of twins, doubles, copies, imposters and Doppelgangers. Side A, made up of Psalms and Reeling, as well as cover Fuzz on the B-Side, are just as heavy as Feature have always been, but double as fast and twice as tuneful. Twins, opening Side B, has the creeped-out, chugging rediscovered pop-single feel that the songs on the first EP have, but is also more refined with a bigger sound. The EP artwork is by Katie Scott, who was nominated for Best Album Artwork at the NME Awards in 2012 for her artwork for Bombay Bicycle Club’s album A Different Kind of Fixwww.katie-scott.comFeature played last year’s Supernormal Festival and will be playing at this year’s Great Escape Festival on Saturday 10th May at The Loft, and have supported the likes of Chain and the Gang and Verity Susman of Electrelane.Culture of the Copy is available to buy on cassette and digital download from 5 May

Nozinja Shares New Song/Video "Tsekeleke"

NOZINJA
NEW SONG AND VIDEO “TSEKELEKE”

WATCH THE VIDEO : www.nozinjamusic.co.za
(available to share and embed)

Nozinja shares his first track for Warp Records “Tsekeleke.” It comes with an accompanying video filmed in Johannesburg and directed by Chris Saunders. The new track will also feature on a 12” due out later this year.

BIO INFO:
Nozinja is the South African artist famous for creating the revolutionary dance movement dubbed 'shangaan electro’. A 21st century reboot of local folk tradition, Tsonga disco, kwaito and South African house, Nozinja has transcended these reference points to dream up an innovative and iconic Afro-futurist strain of electronic dance music. There is nothing quite like a Nozinja production: it is home-grown rave music in its purest form.

A mover, shaker and shape-shifter sometimes referred to as ‘Dog’ by his friends and associates, Nozinja’s infectious persona has extended way beyond his position as kingpin of the traditional Shangaan street dance community and the man behind a vast catalogue of cassettes, CD-Rs and DVDs released locally via Nozinja Productions, into the position he now occupies as a hugely influential soundclash pioneer on a global scale.

The shangaan electro sound was brought to wider international attention in 2010 when Honest Jon’s released the stunning compilation ‘Shangaan Electro: New Wave Dance Music From South Africa’. Growing out of the traditional street dances held in Limpopo and Soweto in South Africa, the compilation was essentially a showcase of Nozinja’s production work and the various vocal/dance crews he had assembled. The record and the attention it threw on various YouTube clips of the dancers in action captured the imagination of music fans and fellow artists around the world. Trailblazing touring soon followed, with a succession of wave-making performances at Sonar Festival, Berghain and elsewhere across Europe, Australia and Africa quickly establishing shangaan electro as a club-ready new strain of electronic dance music whose unbridled joy, breakneck speed and creative flair stood way out from the crowd.

Unsurprisingly, Nozinja's sound has found a particular kinship with other forward thinking electronic producers and DJs, with fans and champions including Caribou, The Knife, Mount Kimbie and Pearson Sound.  A high profile series of 12”s on Honest Jon's capitalised on this with Theo Parrish, Rashad & Spinn, Ricardo Villalobos, Hype Williams and others remixing Shangaan tracks. They were subsequently compiled on the 'Shangaan Shake' double CD.  2013 saw the release of 2 brand new Nozinja cuts (under various pseudonyms) on Dan Snaith's (Caribou, Daphni) Jiaolong label.
