The Black Keys' "Fever" music video premieres

THE BLACK KEYS’ “FEVER” MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERES
NEW ALBUM, TURN BLUE, OUT MAY 13 ON NONESUCH RECORDS
DUO TO PERFORM ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE MAY 10

“Turn Blue has a groovedriven psychedelic glaze.”—Rolling Stone
The Black Keys’s music video for “Fever” premiered this morning and can now be viewed/embedded here:http://youtu.be/trk7P-9QDyc. The single, which is #1 on AAA radio for the third straight week and #3 on Alternative radio, is from the duo’s new album,  Turn Blue , which will be released May 13 on Nonesuch Records. In celebration of the release, the band will return to  Saturday Night Live  for their third musical guest appearance on May 10.
Produced by Danger MouseDan Auerbach and Patrick CarneyTurn Blue comprises 11 new tracks, including “Fever” and the album’s title track, which recently premiered on Carney’s SiriusXM show, Serious Boredom, and can be heard here. Both songs are available as free instant downloads with album preorders at theblackkeys.com/turnblue; the LP, CD or digital version may also be ordered as part of ticket and T-shirt bundles at the band’s site. The songs are also on sale—alone or as free instant downloads with album preorders—on iTunes.
The Black Keys will headline the Hangout Festival in Alabama on May 16 before embarking on an extensive European festival tour this summer; further U.S. dates will be announced soon. See reverse for complete track listing and tour details.
Turn Blue was recorded at Sunset Sound in L.A. during the summer of 2013 with additional recording done at the Key Club in Benton Harbor, MI and Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound in Nashville in early 2014. Of the new album, the band says Turn Blue could refer to:
A: SuffocationB: SadnessC: Numbness from extreme cold
D: A Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960s named GhoulardiE: All of the above
Moreover, Carney comments, “We are always trying to push ourselves when we make a record—not repeat our previous work but not abandon it either. On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds. We’re excited for the world to hear Turn Blue.”
This is the eighth full-length album from the duo and follows 2011’s critically and commercially acclaimed El Camino, which is now certified RIAA Platinum. Internationally, El Camino is Gold in Belgium, Spain, Italy and Holland; Platinum in Ireland, France and the U.K.; and double Platinum in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The record also resulted in three awards at the 55th annual Grammy Awards—Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album. The band now has a total of six Grammy Awards including three in 2010 for their breakout, RIAA Platinum album, Brothers.

Few are the songwriters that can capture even a small portion of the breadth of the modern human experience in one small collection of songs. But those that do are the ones destined for greatness.Melaena Cadiz is one such songwriter. The Michigan-bred, Brooklyn-based artist has been bringing small portraits plucked from the American landscape using the language of folk, pop, and country to bring them to beautiful, breathing life.On her latest album Deep Below Heaven, the songs have a literary quality to them, a notion that embraced in the LP’s title, which comes from a short story written by writer/playwright/actor Sam Shepard.“Part of the story involves a man in a motorcycle accident,” Cadiz says. “As he falls from his Kawasaki, he has the sense of ‘being deep below heaven. The distance. The wetness of flesh. Metal ripping. People helplessly apart.’ To me, it evoked the idea of us humans swarming the earth with all our love and sadness, our desires and defeats.”The young singer-songwriter used this jumping off point to create 10 songs that are filled with finely wrought characters that are striving for a better place in the world or, at the very least, a way to quiet the deep ache within their bones. There’s the young person heading for the West Coast to “find what I’ve been looking for” in “Home Town,” the jilted lover looking for answers in “Swinging Low,” and the friends, driving home late one night, and singing Leonard Cohen songs to each other in “Neon Drag.”As detailed as the lyrics are, that same level of attention is paid to the music within. Produced by Alex Foote, Cadiz and her backing band prove agile in the ways of shuffling bootstompers (“Keep It”), contemplative porch swinging (“Home Town”), and melting into the smoke hanging above a neon-lit bar (“Dreams”). Let’s not forget Cadiz’s voice, which can, within the space of one song, coo you into quietude and rattle your bones with its volume and power. It’s an incredible instrument that she has remarkable control over.Like a great book, this is an album to get completely lost in, to put on your stereo and not come up for air until the last notes fade away. And it offers up ample detail to explore with each successive listen. Settle in your favorite chair with a cup of tea or stiff drink in hand and let Melaena Cadiz transport you to her world of rich characters and richer musicianship.Deep Below Heaven comes out on May 20th, 2014 on Wild Kindness Records!

Margot & The Nuclear So and So's: Short Film

MARGOT AND THE NUCLEAR SO AND SO’S SHORT FILM TELL ME MORE ABOUT EVIL PREMIERES ON THE HUFFINGTON POST
ALBUM OUT NOW ON
MARIEL RECORDING COMPANY

ON TOUR NOW—MULTIPLE DATES SOLD OUT               Photo Credit: Megan Connelly “A little introspective, mellow and sweet.”—USA Today  “This group is one of the best bands that you probably don’t know as well as you should.”—ABC News “Their fifth album, Sling Shot To Heaven, finds them a band in the middle: somewhere between somber minor-key melodies and heavier, experimental rock. The connecting factor between the songs is the laconic, melancholy spirit Margot have perfected.”— Alternative Press
“‘Slingshot’ shows Margot and its rotating cast of characters evolving and maturing without compromising. The songs are a bit slower; but at the same time, the catchy tunes are still riddled with an inherent evil lurking in the lyrics.”— Metro Papers
“As [Richard] Edwards’ story-songs on Sling Shot play out as mind movies, it’s not difficult to hear everyone from John Cale to Ryan Adams to Jimmy Webb in the soundtrack. And yet, it’s always distinctly Margot.”—Magnet(8/10)  The Huffington Post  is premiering Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s short film  Tell Me More About Evil. According to frontman Richard Edwards, the film was “shot on 10 reels of Kodak 16mm film,” and “is a visual, alternate version of the new album consisting of stripped down performances and field recordings from an old La Blogotheque session a few years back.” The 45-minute film was initially screened to two sold out audiences at Cinema Borealis in Chicago, and is available on DVD via the band’s website. A vinyl edition of the film soundtrack is also in the works for release later this year. You can view the film via The Huffington Post HERE and YouTubeHERE. In addition, Sling Shot to Heaven, the newest LP from Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s, is out now on Mariel Recording Company. The album was recorded in the studio that the band built a decade ago with the advance received from their debut album, The Dust of Retreat. The entirety of the new release was recorded on 2” tape and produced by the band. Consistent with their successful approach of self-releasing music since 2008’s Animal! / Not Animal (Epic), Sling Shot to Heaven will be released on the band’s own label, Mariel Recording Company. Edwards’ goal for the band’s fifth album was to “make a record that came across like a sci-fi dream about my decade of touring and making records obsessively while slowly becoming an adult, or at least something vaguely resembling one.” Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s formed in Indianapolis in 2004 as an umbrella under which a rotating group of friends could come together to record Edwards’ vast array of songs. They still travel in the black United school bus that they bought with that first advance and converted into a mobile home, complete with nine very hard wooden bunks. They remain as prolific as ever, recording an album a year since starting Mariel Recording Company in 2010, as well as releasing three 7”s, an EP, and three vinyl re-issues during the same span of time. The band members currently reside in Chicago and Indianapolis. MARGOT AND THE NUCLEAR SO AND SO’S TOUR DATES

Jenny Scheinman: American Songwriter Premieres

JENNY SCHEINMAN’S
THE LITTLEST PRISONER PREMIERES AT
AMERICAN SONGWRITER  OUT MAY 6 ON SONY MASTERWORKS   American Songwriter  is exclusively streaming Jenny Scheinman’s upcoming album  The Littlest Prisoner saying it “splits the difference between rootsy Americana and Scheinman’s typically innovative, ethereal approach.” The latest from the critically hailed singer, violinist, composer and arranger, the new record will be released May 6 on Sony Masterworks and can be streamed via American Songwriter HERE. To hear Jenny talk about the album, watch her short film HERE and the video for “Run Run Run” HERE. Jenny will play select dates on the west coast with Bill Frisell and has just added a solo show at Le Poisson Rouge on June 30 with support from Brian Blade and another very special guest. Her eighth studio album, The Littlest Prisoner follows Scheinman’s 2012 release Mischief & Mayhem, which All About Jazz hails “a near-flawless package of musical craftsmanship,” and The New York Times has called Scheinman “full of playful ideas” and “a soulful, generous improviser.” Mixed by Grammy-nominated producer Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Neko Case, My Morning Jacket, Sufjan Stevens), the album was recorded in just three days of studio tracking in Martine’s Flora Studio in Portland, Oregon.Scheinman says that she “had always imagined that this album would have a sort of Buddy Miller acoustic Americana sound,” however, “as fate would have it I ended up bringing the material into the ethereal, moody, stripped down world of my trio with Bill Frisell and Brian Blade. This added a sense of newness, risk and adventure to the process, which was extremely exciting.”As for the lyrics Scheinman says, “I attempted to look directly at love and all its ugly beauty through the eyes of mothers, inmates, wives, artists and children. What amazes me about the album is that all the tough stuff of life is stuck in the middle of such a beautiful band sound.” In addition to her eight solo records, Scheinman has collaborated with Rodney Crowell, Norah Jones, Bill Frisell, Bruce Cockburn, Madeleine Peyroux, Todd Sickafoose, Nels Cline and many others. She has also earned great acclaim for her high-profile arrangements for artists such as Lucinda Williams, Bono, Lou Reed, Metallica and Sean Lennon. Sony Music Masterworks comprises the Masterworks, Sony Classical, OKeh, Portrait, Masterworks Broadway and Flying Buddha imprints. Yann Tiersen Remixed By Mogwai, New Tour Dates

YANN TIERSEN
MOGWAI REMIX 'A MIDSUMMER EVENING'
New Album ∞ (Infinity) out May 19th
Live Stream From An Extraordinary Secret Location May 5th
More European Tour Dates Added

“stone-cold masterpiece” – Uncut
"Proving to be a consistently inventive talent" - Under The Radar
Mogwai have given Yann Tiersen’s ‘A Midsummer Evening’ a magical electronic remix, listen here.
The original track, described by The Quietus as “sunny, baroque pop”, is the first to be taken from Tiersen’s brand new album,  ∞ (Infinity) , out on May 20th, 2014.
On Monday, May 5th Yann Tiersen will be broadcasting a very special show from an extraordinary secret location. Watch the live stream from www.yanntiersen.com at 8pm CET / 7pm BST / 2pm EST (please contact us for Embed Codes).
Yann Tiersen has announced European tour dates at the end of September and throughout October, following his headline show at the Royal Festival Hall on 26 September. These follow a US tour in May / June, and the exhaustive list of dates start in May with shows in Spain, France and a sold out performance at the ICA on 14 May – the first chance for fans to hear the new album in its entirety – and a Rough Trade East instore performance on Friday 16 May, his first since the massively oversubscribed RTE appearance in 2011.
∞ (Infinity)  was conceived in Iceland, where work began on the album, and in Ushant Island, Brittany. The album was produced by Yann Tiersen and mixed by Gareth Jones with Yann Tiersen and Daniel Miller.
Layering of textures formed thematic threads that bind the album: the stones, the minerals, their infinite nature... Language too is integral to this album. ‘Ar Maen Bihan’, a story written by Emilie Quinquis in the Breton language, was translated by amiina to Icelandic (‘Steinn’). Elsewhere on the album Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap) and Ólavur Jákupsson (a member of Tiersen’s live band) both contributed tracks on the same theme – stones – Moffat’s in English and Jákupsson’s in Faroese.
Hailing from Brittany, Yann Tiersen is one of the most revered artists of his generation with a reputation first established by his studio albums (which included 1997 Cascade Street 1998’s The Lighthouse andto 2005’s  Les Retrouvailles ). The early albums were combined and used for the Amelie  soundtrack (2001), earning him global recognition. Recent albums on Mute,  Dust Lane (2010) and  Skyline  (2011) have seen his prominence build, along with projects such as the recent live score to the Fantômasseries which he curated at the Théâtre de Châtelet with guests Tim Hecker, James Blackshaw, Loney Dear and Amiina.

Washed Out: Updated Tour Dates

Washed Out Announces More Tour Dates In Support ofParacosmCollaborates With KEEP Footwear For Limited-Edition ShoeWatch “All I Know” (Last Call With Carson Daly)
Watch “New Theory” (Live At Coachella)

(April 30th, 2014) Washed Out will resume his late spring & early summer tour schedule this May in support of his acclaimed second album, Paracosm. The next leg of touring begins with a performance on Saturday, May 24th in George, WA at Sasquatch and currently ends on Sunday, June 22nd in Dover, DE at the Firefly Festival.  Highlights include: Sunday, June 1st in Houston, TX for Free Press Summer Fest; Friday, June 6th in New York, NY for Governors Ball; Sunday, June 8th in Toronto, ON for Field Trip; Friday, June 13th in Manchester, TN for Bonnaroo; Thursday, June 19th in Dufur, OR at WTF?! What The Festival.  Please find a list of current dates below.
Washed Out won over audiences at the sold-out Coachella weekends earlier this month. The Nerdistsaid of the set, “He played “New Theory” and “Feel It All Around” with beautiful live-show arrangements we weren’t used to on his record. It reminded me of how The National does it. Their albums are quietly beautiful, but when you put them on a stage, they rock hard. Washed Out glorified their album to make the Gobi tent the place to be.” Meanwhile, Yahoo Music said of the sets, “Washed Out tapped into a magic formula, confidently balancing electronics with acoustic and electric guitars and analog drums. Ringleader Ernest Greene looked casual in a striped button-down shirt, and struck just the right balance between producer/mastermind and Southern gentleman (he's originally from Georgia). "This is our first time here at Coachella, and we're very excited to be here with y'all," he said. Playing several tracks from their 2013 sophomore album, Paracosm, they added some surprising screeching guitars, which gave the usually mellow tunes some serious teeth.”
In further exciting news,  Washed Out recently stopped by Last Call with Carson Day to perform theParacosm songs “All I Know” and “It All Feels Right,” along with Life of Leisure tracks “New Theory” and “Feel It All Around” (see Friday February 28th + Tuesday April 29th appearances).
Washed Out’s Ernest Greene has also teamed-up with vegan shoe company KEEP for a limited-edition shoe design. The shoes will hit shelves by mid-September, and purchasers will also score two previously unreleased Washed Out tracks as a bonus gift. Past KEEP artist collaborations include Animal Collective, Bon Iver, Dinosaur Jr, among others. You can now pre-order the shoes viawww.keepcompany.com now (through May 12th).
Paracosm is now available in North America on Sub Pop and in Europe via Weird World. The album, featuring the singles (and videos) for  “All I Know,” “It All Feels Right,” and “Don’t Give Up,” was recorded by Ernest Greene with returning producer Ben Allen in Athens and Atlanta, Georgia.
What People Are Saying About Washed Out:
“It’s a realm of leisurely melodies and keyboard chords that wash in and drift away, of calm vocal harmonies and burbling electronics, of lavishly blended acoustic and electronic instruments and echoes of reassuring pop from past eras...Paracosm sounds warmer, more enveloping; precisely because it’s so much more spacious, it’s cozier.” [Playlist] -  New York Times “A sun-dappled, intricately layered, indie pop beauty.” [#2 / “Must List”] -  Entertainment Weekly "Greene's meticulous creations are still slow-rolling and thickly layered, but this time he and returning Animal Collective producer Ben Allen slather on less futuristic sounds: Mellotron, bongos, children laughing. Harplike arpeggios herald the beginning of the title track like the launch of a Technicolor reverie, but the nine-song LP’s dreamiest tune is ”All I Know,” a nostalgic stunner that glows like a jar of fireflies." [Review, 3.5/5 Stars] -  Rolling Stone “...Eerily beautiful” [Review, 3/4 stars] -   USA Today “There’s something so distinctly summery about the Washed Out sound...the much-anticipated follow-up Paracosm seems as essential to the season as flip-flops and sunscreen...But unlike Washed Out’s previous efforts, in which frosty digital-age samples and drum machines served as the sonic backbone,Paracosm has a lush, natural feel, beginning with a bird-chirping, harp-scaling overture inspired by the rural Georgia retreat.” [Feature]  -  Vogue Paracosm is a beautiful, beautiful album.” [Review, 88%] -  FILTER “It All Feels Right” bumps with light reggae upticks before momentarily collapsing into a sunstroke, while “Great Escape” leans off the beat just enough to generate a little bit of Southern soul…However, Greene is growing in terms of melodic construct, as the chorus of “Don’t Give Up” is the strongest and trickiest he’s ever written." [Review] -  Pitchfork
