Cabaret Voltaire Release New Compilation July 1st

CABARET VOLTAIRE #7885 (Electropunk to Technopop 1978 - 1985)

NEW COMPILATION OUT JULY 1st, 2014
LISTEN TO “CRACKDOWN (RADIO EDIT 83)” HERE

“… way, way ahead of their time” – DJ “…true, unflinching pioneers of electronic music” – Loud & Quiet
Cabaret Voltaire release the new compilation  #7885 (Electropunk to Technopop 1978 - 1985) on July 1st, 2014.
#7885 (Electropunk to Technopop 1978 – 1985)  compiles two distinct periods of Cabaret Voltaire - 1978-81 and 1983-85 – for the first time together on one release and follows the re-mastered vinyl release of Red Mecca and already legendary and sold out box set, #8385 (Collected Works 1983 – 1985).
Featuring classic tracks such as “Nag Nag Nag,” “Do The Mussolini (Headkick),” “Sensoria,” “LandslideI Want You” and “Just Fascination,”  #7885 (Electropunk to Technopop 1978 – 1985)  was curated by Richard H Kirk who explains, “I decided to gather the more concise elements of the work… Hence the choice of 7” singles, edits and shorter album tracks, a kind of sound bite take on CV.”
The compilation travels from 1978-81 with a line up of Richard H Kirk, Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson, when Cabaret Voltaire were (mostly) recording at the Western Works Studios in Sheffield and releasing records on Rough Trade and from 1983-85 after Watson’s departure when Kirk and Mallinder released via the Some Bizzare label on Virgin Records. Kirk points out that this  “was a time where we got to do what we do, but in different areas, we wanted to push the boundaries of electronic music, we wanted to place what we were doing into places where it really shouldn't be. We certainly didn't want to carry on repeating what we'd done for the ten years previous.”
Cabaret Voltaire formed in 1973 and, alongside Human League, Throbbing Gristle, Fad Gadget and The Normal, were at the forefront of the UK Electronic Movement of the late '70s. Way ahead of their time, Cabaret Voltaire’s blend of dance music, techno, dub, house and experimental made them, without a doubt, one of the most influential acts of the last 40 years.
The release features liner notes from Cabaret Voltaire’s Richard H Kirk and Mute founder Daniel Miller and is available as on CD, Double vinyl and digital download on July 1st, 2014.
Richard H Kirk is co-founder and now sole member of Cabaret Voltaire and is still recording at western works studios in Sheffield. Live performances and new recorded projects are planned for 2015.

THESE NEW PURITANS Featured on WNYC’s Soundcheck

THESE NEW PURITANS Featured on WNYC's Soundcheck, NPR andNoisey – Hear them on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic NOW!

LISTEN LIVE: These New Puritans On KCRW'S Morning Becomes EclecticLISTEN: These New Puritans on WNYC's SoundcheckREAD: These New Puritans: 'You Have To Be Meticulous' via NPR MusicWATCH: "The Light In Your Name" (LIVE With the Magnetic Resonator Piano) via Noisey
Deeply moving."  8.4 – Pitchfork (Best New Music)"Hold a spot on your albums of the decade list" - 9/10, The Fly"even the musicians' breathing feels integral" - 4*, The Guardian
These New Puritans are a band from Essex, England, comprising of twin brothers Jack and George Barnett, their friend Thomas Hein and the many different collaborators who are drawn into their orbit. Their music is widely lauded as amongst the most original and progressive in the world, having released three unique and critically acclaimed albums that highlight their uncompromising musical vision. The band is anchored by the opposing characters of the Barnett twins: George, extroverted, a violently virtuosic drummer who directs the band's visuals; Jack, obsessively perfectionist, occupying an unusual role somewhere between producer, composer and bandleader. Hein brings equilibrium, multi-instrumentalism, and a certain wryly-amused take on the back and forth between the brothers.

Last date on These New Puritans' "Spitting Stars" tour is tonight at The Roxy in Los Angeles.

2010's Hidden was hailed as "the first masterpiece of the twenty-first century" and named NME's album of the year. It is a modern, expansive record that takes in disparate influences to create something rare in music today, something unique. The band recreated the album live with a series of ĦỊĐĐỂŅ LIVE shows, notably at the Barbican and Paris' Pompidou Centre, featuring the Britten Sinfonia, a children's choir, 10ft taikodrums, multiple vibraphonists and live Foley techniques.
New album Field of Reeds brings you closer to These New Puritans, with its highly dynamic, intense and emotive sound that bypasses any fads or fashions in today's music, with Portuguese singer Elisa Rodrigues joining the band as a guest member. "with this album the biggest change has been that i've tried to move away from abstraction... It's like when I was younger. I'd get home from school and write songs on the guitar about how Ifelt, this album is kind of like that". The album was critically acclaimed across Europe. TNP debuted the album with a series of concerts in Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles (supporting Bjork at Hollywood Bowl) and London, with a new live septet (drums / bass / live electronics / trumpet / french horn / piano / female vocals).
