Fiancé announce debut EP out October 7 on SQE

Fiancé Debut EP 1 Out October 7 On SQE
Stream "Ivy" at DIY Magazine

"A matrimonial mix of Diiv's billowy shoegaze and Delorean's effervescent dreamwave, Fiancé might well be the most exciting band to emerge from Delaware in, well, ever."- NME

"Fiancé have, in the four dreamy, poppy pieces we've experienced thus far, literally done no wrong." - Dots & Dashes

Fiancé will release their debut EP, titled EP1, on October 7 via SQE. The EP will be available digitally and on vinyl and can be pre-ordered in the SQE online store.  Fiancé just announced a hometownrecord release show which will take place on September 19 at the Homegrown Cafe in Newark, Delaware. Later this fall, the band will travel to the UK for several shows including a performance at Club NME on October 10.
DIY Magazine in the UK has premiered "Ivy" from the band's forthcoming EP and said, "they make serene but cutting alternative rock, the kind that lingers in the memory long after it's gone. Direct and to the point, initial Tame Impala comparisons have been set to one side with their latest track 'Ivy', which has more in common with a long ride down the US coast with nothing but stunning scenery for a companion." Earlier this month, Noisey premiered the EP's first single Era" and described it as "a song that sounds like a hazy day at the beach that will never escape your memory." "Era" is also streaming on SoundCloud and available as download at iTunes.

Newark is a small city in Delaware, home to a little more than 30,000 people, a university and a burgeoning music scene. Most notably, though, it's the birthplace of Fiancé, a four-piece experimental pop group who are bringing their local vibe to a grander level. The band's members have been friends since grade school, always playing in and out of bands together over the years as they grew up. In January of 2013, Andrew Fusca, Jeff Marvel and Tyler Yoder got together and started a new project they dubbed Fiancé. The idea behind the group was vague, with the only goal to make music together that they all enjoyed. The band's first song, a surging, static-laced indie rock number called"Division" was released last March and quickly got picked up by several music blogs.
By June, the band had added local Delaware musician Brian Bruce on the drums. Based in a big farmhouse in Newark where the musicians have lived over the past few years, Fiancé have established themselves as a local staple. They helped to cultivate the music scene by hosting parties and shows at their house, highlighting DJ's and bands from the tri-sate area.
The house also doubles as Fiancé's recording studio. The musicians wrote the five tracks on their debut EP, titled EP 1, over the course of last summer and fall. Produced by Andrew and engineered by friend Ryan Williams, the entire EP was recorded to quarter inch tape on a Tascam 388 tape machine. The tape adds to the gauzy, fuzzed out aesthetic that threads throughout the songs. Their friend Rachel K. Haines added her vocals to the end of the track "Climb the Stairs."
The EP opens with the group's first single, "Era," a layered, shimmering pop song Andrew and Jeff had initially written for a possible solo project before Fiancé started. "It wasn't quite finished," Jeff says. "And the other band members just made it so much better. We're really proud of it." "Climb The Stairs," is a moody rocker that showcases the glimmer of darkness and melancholy in the group's sensibility.
The group is currently translating the aesthetic on their EP into a full-length album. For them, the EP is a hint at where Fiancé will go next, but not necessarily a complete indication. "Our goal is to write songs that are meaningful to us," Jeff says. "If our songs can impact other people in a positive way, then that's great. But our true goals are more selfish than that. We want to write songs that are more honest then anything we've done before, ones that resonate with ourselves."

Mark Lanegan Band to release Phantom Radio on October 21

MARK LANEGAN BAND TO RELEASE PHANTOM RADIO ON OCTOBER 21, 2014

Pre-order Begins Today

Hear “Floor Of The Ocean” Now On Soundcloud

(August 27, 2014) – On October 21, 2014, the MARK LANEGAN BAND will release a brand new full-length, Phantom Radio , through Flooded Soil/Vagrant on in the U.S.

Phantom Radio, produced by Alain Johannes, is Lanegan’s ninth release under his own name, his 20th if you include his collaborations, and close to his 50th if you include his guest appearances.

Fans can pre-order Phantom Radio beginning today at iTunes (http://smarturl.it/phantomradio). The deluxe editionincludes an instant gratification digital version of the previously vinyl-only 5-track EP,  No Bells On Sunday .

Fans can hear the first track revealed from Phantom Radio, “Floor Of The Ocean,” here:

Phantom Radio track listing:
Harvest HomeJudgement TimeFloor Of The OceanThe Killing SeasonSeventh DayI Am The WolfTorn Red HeartWaltzing In BlueThe Wild PeopleDeath Trip To Tulsa
Lanegan's chief compositional tool on Phantom Radio was his phone – specifically an app called Funk Box. “I didn’t bother to hook up my 909 and 808 this time,” he says, “because the app had ’em. I’d write drum parts with it then add music with the synthesizer or the guitar.” The album grew organically from these synthetic roots, taking in Mark’s ongoing love of Krautrock and also an ’80s new wave show on Sirius satellite radio, his favored aural companion as he drives around Los Angeles. “They have a few good shows but the ‘80s one in particular I like,” he says. “That’s the music that was happening when I started making music. And although the Trees drew on Nuggets psychedelia, 13th Floor Elevators and Love, we were actually listening to Echo And The Bunnymen, Rain Parade, the Gun Club. A lot of British post-punk. We loved that stuff. I just waited until I was in my late forties before I started ripping it off.”

Lanegan’s generous collaborative spirit sees him deliver an excellent co-write with British guitarist Duke Garwood, with whom he made last year’s dustbowl-desolate Black Pudding, and who now offers the music for “I Am The Wolf,” a Lanegan signature tune. Mark’s favorite song on the album, meanwhile, is “Torn Red Heart,” an intensely tender meditation for a broken heart that’s like The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes” orchestrated by Angelo Badalamenti. He also has a special mention for “Floor Of The Ocean,”which balances sheer catchiness with a deceptively bleak lyrical reflection on a life lived on the hard shoulder: “Clear eyes, can’t avoid the searchlight/Hope that they don’t find me/Find me where I’m lying.”

together PANGEA Reveals "Badillac" Video

together PANGEA REVEALS "BADILLAC" VIDEOPREMIERED VIA A.V. CLUB
ANNOUNCES NEW TOUR DATES STREAM // EMBED "BADILLAC" HERE
Los Angeles-based trio together PANGEA are excited to reveal their video for " Badillac ," from their recently-released Harvest Records debut of the same name. The sci-fi inspired clip was premiered by  A.V. Club , who noted that it "has some serious Young Frankenstein vibes, as well as some solid tunes to back it up." The Ryan Baxley-directed video is available to stream and embed  HERE . The band has also announced a string of fall and winter tour dates, continuing tonight in Eugene, OR at Cozmic Pizza and concluding on November 8 in Austin, TX at Fun Fun Fun Nights. The current list of tour dates can be found below.
together PANGEA has received much praise for Badillac, with  Consequence of Sound  awarding the album an A-, noting Badillac is "moody, it's fun, and it's the sort of thing I want to believe in - one of those rare listens where you think, Okay, I get this... and I think it gets me."  MTV News  ushered in its release by listing the album as one of the ten "Most Anticipated Indie Albums of 2014," while  Stereogum  declared "gear up for one of 2014's wildest records."  VICE Magazine  awarded Badillac with "Album Cover of the Month," and lauded the record, exclaiming "finally, a garage band with some fucking balls. Let 'em fly, motherfuckers."  MTV Hive  summed up the band aptly, saying "together PANGEA is just one fucking fun band." Referring to the 7-inch that preceded Badillac Pitchfork  said "Snakedog" is "an absolute shredder worthy of its awesomely ridiculous title." Badillac is now available on iTunes and Amazon. together PANGEA do rock 'n' roll as it was meant to be - raw, unpredictable, and probably dangerous, but also blazing with intelligence, emotion and edgy experimentation. The Los Angeles-based trio made their bones as purveyors of post-millenial punk, but with their third full length release - and Harvest Records debut - Badillac, they pay their debt to the supersonic 90s rock that first inspired them. The band has not sacrificed a spurt of precious energy, instead integrating nuance and dynamic momentum to songs like "No Way Out" and the undeniably badass title track. The volcanic riffs and massive melodies are matched by an equally provocative lyrical stance, with songs like "Sick Shit" and the album-closing "Where the Night Ends" casting an acerbic eye over the wreckage of the party they helped start - it's 3 am and the drunken fun has given way to sexual panic, anxiety and self-doubt. Slightly stoned but by no means slack, Badillac reveals together PANGEA to be both confident and surprisingly committed, their audacious ambition already impossible to contain.

Shuggie Otis

SHUGGIE OTISUniversal Attractions Agency and World War Trading Company are proud to announce the representation of Shuggie Otis Psychedelic soul musician Shuggie Otis was only 20 when his album Inspiration Information came out in 1974. He'd already performed on stage with his father, the late bandleader Johnny Otis; while still a teenager, he wrote "Strawberry Letter 23," which sold millions for The Brothers Johnson. Shuggie Otis turned down offers to play guitar with The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Blood, Sweat & Tears so he could make his own way as a frontman. Otis has since become a cult icon.—Maggie Brennan, WCBE music director

"Mascis is now as skilled at quiet as he is with loud" [3.5/5 stars] -  Rolling Stone "On the sweet, shaggily swooning Tied to a Star, the jolts tend to come from the music's simple beauty" -  NPR Music “It makes for a more organically toned collection that proves the grey wizard doesn’t need heavy distortion to stay at the top of his game.” [8/10] -  NME

“J’s mature-era peak continues.” [4/5] -  MOJO “Subtle and understated, yet brimming with raw passion, this is songwriting at its cathartic, confessional best.” -  Record Collector “On his second solo record, Tied to a Star, Mascis molds yet another subdued prism through which to glimpse his rare genius as a guitarist and songwriter.” [8.1 /10] -  PASTE “There’s an earnestness and heart-on-his-sleeve quality that fills the album. The delicate beauty of “Me Again” and “And Then,” the meditative “Wide Awake” and the bright pop residing within “Stumble” find their melodic strength through the simplicity of Mascis singing and playing his way through his cluttered mind.” -  Relix “Full of sweet sounds and precise picking.” [4/5] -  Q Tied to a Star demonstrates that J Mascis’ songwriting doesn’t rely on volume but on his apparently effortless ability to write emotive music. “Sentimental me,” he sings on “Me Again,” but there’s more than sentimentality to these songs; they resonate at a more fundamental level.” [4 / 5 Stars] -  Music OMH "Lush, nostalgic folk-rock songs that sound completely natural coming out of him." -  Stereogum "The song offers up a pair of serene acoustic guitars which blast out some finger-picked beauty." Lust For Youth shares video for "New Boys" + European tour dates

LUST FOR YOUTH SHARES "NEW BOYS" VIDEO
VIA  CLASH
EUROPEAN TOUR STARTS 9/12
INTERNATIONAL OUT NOW!                                                                                                                                            Photo courtesy of Rasmus Jensen Ahead of their upcoming EU tour later this year, which includes a string of UK dates in late September, Copenhagen trio Lust For Youth share their video for ‘New Boys’. The track is taken from the band’s ‘International’ LP, which was released earlier this year via Sacred Bones Records.

Speaking about the video, director Frederik Valentin said:

"For the narcotic summer vibe tune "New Boys" I saw no other option than making a video featuring my 11-year-old kid brother, presenting the Danish nature and the innocent beauty of his adolescence.

To do so my brother and I spent our first vacation together. On our way, we filmed at numerous locations all over Denmark. We traveled from the North Sea in Jutland, crossing the Island of Fuen and Kissendrup to finish back home at Seeland, Amager, outside the city of Copenhagen. We shot the sunset of Lohals, a small village with 468 inhabitants on the edge of Langeland. The light during the sunset is a Mecca and a well-known secret by Scandinavian landscape painters, celebrated for its transcendent light and blissful atmosphere. No two sunsets ever appear to be the same."

About the record:

As La Sera, Katy Goodman turned an aching heart into two marvelous, alluring yet bittersweet break-up albums (2011’s self-titled debut and 2012’s Sees the Light). On her latest, though, the former Vivian Girl is through crying.

Hour of the Dawn sees Goodman waking up, throwing open the bedroom windows and welcoming the day.

"I wanted the new La Sera record to sound like Lesley Gore fronting Black Flag," Goodman says. "I didn't want it to be another record of me sad, alone in my room. I wanted to have fun playing music and writing songs with a band." To back her nimble basslines and enchanting vocals, Goodman assembled a new band helmed by guitarist Todd Wisenbaker.
