Dilly Dally have shared a video for their album track, "The Touch," today. Directed by David Waldman, the video is a mix of live footage and fantasy characters, with overlapping black & white images of the band. Band leader Katie Monks shared the heartfelt story behind the song:
I wrote this song for a friend of mine who was having suicidal thoughts. I felt this huge sense of urgency, and wanted to nurture him in anyway I possible could: sexually, emotionally, and then finally realized that I could help him through music. It was all very instinctual. The song attempts to reach him in his dark place, and then lure him away from there. The chorus in this song is very sweet and gentle. It is meant to be comforting and remind him of romance and the softness of a woman's touch. If that isn't enough to live for, then I don't know what is.
David Waldman, a Toronto-based music photographer of over ten years, is who we turned to for the music video. His direction helped us illuminate the DIY punk scene that Dilly Dally has spawned from here in our city. It is a very honest and practical video that shows the band jamming in a dusty basement, and then going on our usual run to the convenient store. The video is also laced with dark, symbolic and ghostly imagery. It is meant to be an empowering piece for women, and inspiring for those who struggle with depression.
Dilly Dally won hearts and minds at this year's CMJ Marathon, including accolades from the New York TimesFADERNewsweek, the Village Voice and many others. Their cover of Drake's "Know Yourself" proved very popular alongside the rest of their hits-stacked set.

Elle Belle brings his "Failed Dreamz" to the Satellite Monday's in November

ELLE BELLE TAKES OVER THE SATELLITE
MONDAY’S IN NOVEMBERListen  to “Failed Dreamz” Via Soundcloud    LA's Elle Belle will be taking over Monday nights in  November at the Satellite. He’ll be playing a collection of new songs including “Failed Dreamz” which will be released as a digital 7inch, and on limited edition vinyl via NHAC Records / Sony Music UK in early 2016. “…an upbeat cut of ’80s pop rock. With big synth chords, a driving beat, and the repeated refrain “I’ve given up / I’ve given up on it,” a song about being let down has never sounded so triumphant.” – FLOOD MAGAZINE (on Failed Dreamz) “Failed Dreamz” is a Technicolor slab of driving synth-rock.” – LA BUZZBANDS Elle Belle is the ambitious solo project from multi-instrumentalist Christopher Papas created on the heels of a creative and personal breakdown. Feeling worn out and frustrated while recording his former band, Miracle Parade’s sophomore album, Pappas created an alter-ego as a way of approaching the recording process with a fresh perspective. At the heart of Elle is Pappas and vice versa; the truth is that there is little practical difference in the two. The character’s birth was means to an end, a way that he could express something already there but needed a mouthpiece. Pappas is excited to bring the Elle Belle persona to an audience. “There’s no roadmap, no scheme - it will be visceral, in the moment, and truly unique,” says Pappas on the live experience he has planned for the residency.  “The sounds, sights, and energy will be electric; blending craft with chaos, harmony with discord and hopefully bloody a few noses. Bring a towel.”   ELLE BELLE SATELLITE RESIDENCY NOV. 9 w/ Moon of Mars, BebopalulaBoh DoranNOV. 16 w/  WhispertownDance with the dead, Ben HazelwoodNOV. 23  w/  The Dough Rollers + VERY SPECIAL SURPRISE GUESTSNOV. 30 The MynabirdsMonolith

The High Llamas Announce A New Album, Out 1/22!

LISTEN TO THE CLATTER OF THE TREES HERE COME THE RATTLING TREES OUT JAN 22nd 2015 While cycling around his home-district of Peckham (in southeast London) a few years ago, Sean O'Hagan decided that not only would the new High Llamasmusic be driven by narratives, a collection of stories, but they would first have to be performed as theatre; reshaped theatre, if you like, blending stories, songs and soundtrack. The resultant piece  Here Come The Rattling Trees  introduces six characters, some real, some less so, whom Sean has encountered over past years in Peckham. It is also The High Llamas new LP!  Here Come The Rattling Trees  was first performed in the Montpelier Theatre pub in Peckham in June 2014, and in October 2014, it played for a week-long run at the Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden, London. The story centers around Amy, an unsettled 28-year old with a desire to travel. She finds herself in Peckham Square working in temporary employment publicizing the re-branding of the local leisure center. Peckham Leisure will pass from public ownership to private management and while leafleting in the square Amy encounters five characters, who, it transpires, have their own stories to tell. These stories have emerged from Peckham over the past 25 years and speak of buildings and change; of hopes, ambitions and disappointments. This is the soundtrack to those stories. With witty, artful musical strokes, Seanand the High Llamas have crafted deft musical sketches with the signature "Llamas" sound that has evolved over ten album releases since 1992. A colorful array of electric, acoustic, and synthetic instruments, alongside Sean O'Hagan's gentled vocals, are deployed to transport the listener to the low-key highs and lows of the British working week - an incisive, sympathetic view to the wonders slipped in between the pages and too often passed over in everyday life.

The Cave Singers Announce New Album Banshee Arriving Feb. 19th

THE CAVE SINGERS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM BANSHEE

AVAILABLE INDEPENDENTLY FEBRUARY 19 The Cave Singers are excited to announce their fifth studio album  Banshee
which will be released independently February 19.
Banshee brings The Cave Singers back to their original 3 piece lineup and also their approach to songwriting: an exchange of guitarist Derek Fudesko sending vocalist / songwriter Pete Quirk a riff and Pete responding with vocal ideas. From there, the songs come together.
The album was recorded live in July of 2015 over 6 days with producer Randall Dunn who also produced 2011's No Witch. The record is warmly anchored in the members' creative familiarity with one another. Yet there is a new thirst toBanshee, one that can be attributed to the combination of the band taking a year off to work on other projects, Pete Quirk's solo album and the Kodiak Deathbeds debut record, and their return to songwriting from distanced correspondence.
While their first few albums were released through Matador Records and JagJaguar, Cave Singers took to IndieGoGo and successfully crowdfunded their new record stating, "After four records, on two different record labels, we want to try something totally different and new. We are forgoing the traditional record label, distribution, marketing of our past and along with your support, we are going to record, release, and most importantly, own our music for the very first time."
The Cave Singers are expecting to hit the road sometime next year. In the meantime, check out Peter Quirk opening this month for Dave Simonett and Kodiak Deathbeds first show at Bunk Bar in Portland on Friday.

Soldiers Of Fortune Stream New Album Early Risers via Noisey + NYC Album Release Party Tomorrow

Soldiers Of Fortune, feat. Members of Oneida, Interpol, & more, Stream New Album Early Risers via  Noisey

Out November 6 on Mexican Summer

Album Guest Stars Include
Stephen Malkmus & Cass McCombs

Album Release Party in NYC on November 4

The best anti-band in history.”  Noisey

Soldiers Of Fortune began as an anti-band and since their creation have grown into one of the most recognized indie superbands, combining members of powerhouses likeOneidaChavez, and Interpol. This Friday, November 6th, their second LP Early Riserswill be released via Mexican Summer and today the album is streaming in full on Noisey.Early Risers is available for pre-order on iTunes or Amazon with instant downloads of their past three singles, “Nails”, “Old Roman Wall” featuring Cass McCombs, and “Campus Swagger” featuring Stephen Malkmus.

In the beginning, SOF’s only goal was to play a rare show every now and then that they could assault, terrorize, and shred, but after meeting with Keith Abrahamsson and learning what his label Mexican Summer was all about SOF conceded and signed a deal. Months later, in August, they were in an unfinished Gary’s Electric studio on the hottest three days of 2010, and somehow walked out of the studio with a 12” called Ball Strenth.

Now here they are another five years, very few shows, or LPs sold, later: in 2013 the band got bamboozled by Keith into a SECOND recording sesh (WTF!?!), but this time were offered "undisclosed" amounts of studio time alongside the usual "carte blanche". This of course meant string sections were hired, arrangers and composers enlisted, backup singers hit on, music biz lawyers attending mixing sessions, blowouts between the band and food delivery men, coffee pouring into the bass amp etc. After three weeks of this SOF aborted EVERYTHING, took a six-month hiatus to get over their collective S.E.N.D. (Sophomore Effort Narcissism Disease), fell back in the studio and recorded a dozen embryonic 'song ideas', rather than jams, over an afternoon. They then called up friends who know how to sing and finished up the damn thing in three days.

The result is an LP called EARLY RISERS, and beyond the core troupe consisting of Brad Truax (so many bands, but dude, Interpol?), Kid Millions (Man Forever, Oneida), Barry London (fuck yeah Oneida), Matt Sweeney (Chavez being his LEAST well-known operation should tell you something), Jesper Eklow (Meandering Tedium, sorry, Endless Boogie), Mike Bones already, and the elusive Papa Crazee (heavy early riser in team Oneida) they abused the superior vocal stylings of their Healer, Shaman and Answer CLARK "YEREMIAS" BRONSON, STEPHEN MALKMUS, CASS MCCOMBS, DAN MELCHIOR, ETHAN MILLER and MATT MCAULEY.

This is the sound of utter confusion and unfocused tender hatred in song form. They have no idea if they even like it, but they definitely have no shame so here it is; crackEarly Risers wide open and make up your own mind. SOF has no interest in knowing your opinion however, so keep it to yourself. Thank You.

Track List

02. Cinnamon Man
03. Campus Swagger (feat. Stephen Malkmus)
04. Old Roman Wall (feat. Cass McCombs)

Night Beats Share New Track ‘Sunday Mourning’ || Announce New Album Who Sold My Generation

Night Beats Share New Track 'Sunday Mourning'
Announce New Album Who Sold My Generation
Out January 29th On Heavenly Recordings

Night Beats have announced details of the release of their new album. Who Sold My Generation will be released on Heavenly Recordings on Friday 29th January 2016. The first taste of the new album is 'Sunday Mourning' which the band shared today.
Their third album, and first for Heavenly, it follows the release of their self-titled debut in 2011 and Sonic Bloom in 2013.
Recorded on old two-inch tape in Echo Park, Los Angeles at the home of producer Nic Jodoin and featuring co-production and guess bass playing from Robert Levon Been of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, new album  Who Sold My Generation  goes beyond merely being a retreading of well-worn garage / R&B path. Instead it offers a contemporary take on the psychedelic experience, a heady set of hoodoo voodoo songs.
Who Sold My Generation  tracklisting1.   Celebration #12.   Power Child3.   Right / Wrong4.   No Cops5.   Porque Manana6.   Sunday Mourning7.   Shangri Lah8.   Burn To Breathe9.   Bad Love10. Last Train To Jordan11. Turn The Lights12. Egypt Berry
Very much a record in the great Texan musical tradition of acid-drenched outlaw music, Who Sold My Generation picks up where the likes of The ElevatorsThe Red Krayola, pre-ZZ Top band The Moving SidewalksThe Butthole Surfers and The Black Angels – whose record label Reverb Appreciation Society released the band's second album  – left off.
"The Elevators were one of the reasons I decided to become a singer and form the group," says Blackwell. "I loved their attempt to play R'n'B music, but from a distinctly Texan approach. I'd say they have profoundly influenced the group, but it's now our job to take it to another level in a new age."
Finally, having toured extensively with Roky EricksonThe Jesus and Mary ChainThe Strange Boys,Black Lips, The Growlers and The Black AngelsNight Beats have announced a run of shows in Europe in the New Year.
Named in homage to Sam Cooke's classic album, Night Beats began as a two-piece in 2009 after both Danny Lee Blackwell and James Traeger moved from Texas to Seattle, Washington and were soon picked up by Chicago's Trouble in Mind Records (Ty SegallFresh and Onlys, Hex Dispensers, etc.) who released their debut album. Cult US West Coast label Burger Records were also on hand, releasingNight Beats first two albums via cassette. Having been fans of both records, and having caught their astonishing set at the Shipping Forecast in Liverpool last year, Heavenly Recordings eventually signed the band in the summer of 2015.
Night Beats are: Danny Lee Blackwell (guitar / vocals), Jakob Bowden (bass) & James Traeger(drums).
Night Beats are playing these upcoming North American shows:
Nov 7 – San Francisco, CA – RoccapulcoNov 21 – Toronto, ON – Horseshoe Tavern (Night Owl Festival)

What a new video for Grave Babies' "Metal Me"

IMPOSE PREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR "METAL ME" BY SEATTLE'S GRAVE BABIES

VIDEO - "Metal Me[dir. Bobby McHugh]
MP3 - "Something Awful"
MP3 - "
Eternal (On & On)"

Today, Impose Magazine premiered Grave Babies' grim new video for "Metal Me," off this past summer's Holographic Violence. The clip, from director Bobby McHugh, depicts an imagined, violent revenge fantasy gone awry. Halloween may have come and gone already, but this video reasserts last weekend's spooky vibes. You can watch the video by clicking here or on the .gif above.

Review copies of Holographic Violence are available upon request.

About the record:

In the five years since Grave Babies’ debut album Deathface was released, founder Danny Wahlfeldt has been handling all songwriting and recording duties for the Seattle-based band, with invaluable help from friends in performing their material live. For their newest album entitledHolographic Violence, Wahlfeldt chose a different path, causing a significant change in the band’s overall sound.

Holographic Violence is Grave Babies’ second Hardly Art full-length after Crusher (2013), and further explores the themes of nihilism, the pending doom of mankind, and shaming humanity, which the band has been building their gloomy reputation on since the beginning. This time however, instead of recording everything in his basement, Wahlfeldt enlisted the help of Bryce Brown (Crypts) on bass and Mark Gajadhar (Blood Brothers, Past Lives) on drums in the early stages of recording.  The songs on Holographic Violence fell into place in Mark's studio on Orcas Island, Washington. Mixing was handled by Matt Bayles (Alice in Chains, Mastodon), with final mastering by Chris Common (Chelsea Wolfe, Mars Volta). As a final touch, Claire Haranda was added to the lineup on keyboards and synth to round out the band’s live sets. By leaving the edgy, lo-fi haze of earlier output in the past, these songs have clarified what the music of Grave Babies has to offer the future.

That is, if humanity has a future?

“I wanted it to be a last cry for sanity going into our dystopian future,” Wahlfeldt says about Holographic Violence. Grave Babies has long held a crush on morbidity, death, and corruption, building a romantic relationship around the juxtaposition of the dark contextual matter with hook-heavy songs rife with pretty melodies and harmonies. The 11 new songs on Holographic Violence present this powerful combination from a science fiction perspective, begging the question: has our imagination outpaced the confines of our reality as we keep going down the same path, believing there's hope? Playing anthemic pop songs with a strange male choir-esque sound to the vocals adds a distinctly cultish feel to the abrasive exercise of figuring out if it is possible to circumvent destructive human predispositions.

Nevermen (Doseone, Tunde Adebimpe, Mike Patton) Set Jan. 29 Release Date for Debut; Reveal Artwork

NEVERMEN (DOSEONE, TUNDE ADEBIMPE, MIKE PATTON) SET JAN. 29 RELEASE DATE FOR SELF-TITLED DEBUT; PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW

ALBUM ART BY INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED ARTIST KEITH TYSON
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 3, 2015 – Nevermen, the leaderless trio of Tunde Adebimpe (TV On The Radio), Adam “Doseone” Drucker (Anticon/cLOUDDEAD) and Mike Patton (Faith No More/Tomahawk) has set a Jan. 29 release date for their self-titled debut, Nevermen (North America: Ipecac Recordings; Internationally: Lex Records).

Pre-orders for the 10-song album are available now, with iTunes pre-orders  (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/nevermen/id1051561235?ls=1&app=itunes) including an instant download of “Tough Towns” (https://soundcloud.com/nevermenmusic/nevermen-tough-towns), a song Rolling Stone described as “a quirky, cinematic avant-pop single” featuring “five minutes of eerie synthesizers and understated hip-hop beats.”  Nevermen physical pre-orders can be found here: https://merchaye-revolve.squarespace.com/ipecac-music/nevermen-nevermen-cd (CD) and https://merchaye-revolve.squarespace.com/ipecac-music/nevermen-nevermen-lp (vinyl).

Nevermen is neither side-project nor super group; it's merely meant to be — a years-in-the-making partnership in which these men shared all duties, discovering their collective sound with the sort of glee and freedom usually reserved for first-timers. Amid this wild, weird churn of rock, pop, rap, soul, and other, it's shockingly easy to lose track of who's singing at what moment, and that's the point: to quote Tunde/Adam/Mike in song, "The frontman digests its self."Nevermen, the album, finds these three giants shredding their egos to get at the heart of why they do what they do, to explore the hopes and fears and wins and losses of anyone who carves career out of what started as dream.
