Föllakzoid Announce European Tour Nov-Dec 2015

FÖLLAKZOID ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN & UK TOUR
III LP / CD
OUT NOW ON SACRED BONES                                                                                                              Föllakzoid began seven years ago as a trance experience between childhood friends Diego, Juan Pablo, and Domingo from Santiago, Chile. Heavily informed by the heritage of the ancient music of the Andes, the band has learned to integrate this influence with contemporary sounds of their times, creating a rich yet minimal atmosphere.
For their most recent album, III, the band wanted to expand their sound while building an atmosphere with mainly monochords and reiteration. After recording and mixing the album on their own at their studio at BYM Records, they partnered with German electronic maestro Atom™ to flesh out the album’s synth parts. Most of the sounds he provided were atonal electronic sounds, aiming for concrete frequencies and sampled organic glitches. The Korg synthesizer Atom™ plays originally belonged to Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk.
III is a four-part minimal sound voyage in which you can hear Föllakzoid’s musical language developing into something more upbeat, obscure, and sharp, yet even simpler in terms of elements. During the past year, the band played more than 80 gigs, including Primavera Sound Festival, ATP Festival in the UK, Musique Volantes in Lyon, and Lollapalooza Chile. The shows for III, have spread the band’s fog-enshrouded gospel to an even wider audience and the band look forward to getting back on the road in Europe in November.

Noisey premieres new video from Winter! Single out now on Burger Records!

DREAM POP BAND

WINTER

PREMIERES NEW VIDEO ON NOISEY"ALL THE THINGS YOU DO"NEW SINGLE OUT NOW ON BURGER RECORDS!"All The Things You Do" :: MP3 / SoundCloud (approved for posting)

Los Angeles-based Dream Pop/Shoegaze group Winter just released an all-new single on Burger Records and last week premiered the video for it on Noisey. The video is for the track "All The Things You Do" which was recorded by Matt Hogan and the video was directed by Kevin Kearney. The band is currently on a nationwide tour opening for Allison Weiss with Mal Blum and Kid In The Attic.

The group began in Boston, MA when Samira Winter began writing songs and with the help of Nolan Eley produced the Daydreaming EP in 2012. After moving to Los Angeles, the group added more members and started playing live shows alongside Thee Oh Sees, Bleached, and Ought. With Winter relocating to Los Angeles and Eley moving to New York, they continued to make music together remotely and they finished their debut full-length album, Supreme Blue Dream. Touching on not one, but two languages (English and Portuguese), this bi-lingual group of dreamers do their part to lay us down softly while keeping listeners eager for each tune.

After their own month-long residency at The Echo in Los Angeles and brushing shoulders on bills with acts like Luna, Iceage and Craft Spells, the group made themselves a home in the California scene while honing their distinct, East Coast brand of ethereal vocals layered over melodic guitars.

With Samira Winter at the helm, the live band features the talents of Matt Hogan (guitar), David Yorr (bass), and Garren Orr (drums) - a group whose passionate connection has flourished since the four were students together in Boston. Winter aspires to connect people with their inner child by making blissful, beautiful and ethereal pop music.

Smoke Fairies release seasonally-themed "Wild Winter" on Full Time Hobby Nov. 20, Stream title track

SMOKE FAIRIES RELEASE
SEASONALLY-THEMED ALBUM WILD WINTER
OUT NOVEMBER 20 ON FULL TIME HOBBY, STREAM TITLE TRACK

“Smoke Fairies appear to have tapped into this mid-Winter noir. It’s an intriguing return, one which allies their soft, folk-hued vocals to some rather distorted effects.”—Clash Music “Smoke Fairies rely on intertwining…their two voices move in close harmonies,
with timbres blending almost like sisters.”—New York Times Smoke Fairies are set to release a holiday-themed collection of 10 songs entitled  Wild Winter.  Last year, the LP sold out entirely when it was released in limited edition run and sold exclusively Rough Trade Record Storein the U.K as the December Album of the Month. On November 20Full Time Hobby will release the album via all digital and physical retailers. Stream title track HERE. In the very hot summer of 2014, Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies of Smoke Fairies holed themselves up in the house that they share with the curtains drawn and started writing a collection of songs focusing on wintertime, Christmas, blizzards, isolation and presents. The process took the duo on a journey through Christmas past, present and future, sometimes touching on family tradition and the role religion plays in their yearly celebrations and even imagined themselves as the three kings. They then took their band into a recording studio in Kent, stayed in a local youth hostel and for a week and set about recording most of the tracks live. With the help of producer Kristofer Harris they finished Wild Winter and the autumn had not even set in!When asked why they chose to focus on a seasonally-themed record, the band explained, “We have a love/hate relationship with winter and the Christmas holiday. When it was suggested Smoke Fairies make a Christmas album the last thing we wanted to do was make a classic, jolly, celebratory album that can only be played once a year. Sometimes winter provides us with a sense of togetherness and love and sometimes it leaves us feeling alienated, cold and playing a glockenspiel alone in a darkened room. It’s part of the year that will always be bittersweet and wild. This was the inspiration behind the record.” The duo said for the song “Bad Good” they “cast our minds back to out childhood selves in the ‘80s” and went on to say “that we nearly drove ourselves to the brink of insanity” trying to bring order to a cover of Captain Beefheart’s “Steal Softly Thru Snow.”
In the six years together since entering a recording studio for the first time, Smoke Fairies have self-released several singles and were first introduced to American audiences with their 7” Gastown/River Song via Third Man Records, which Jack White produced and play drums on. The band has toured the world with the likes of Brian Ferry, Richard Hawley and Laura Marling. Time Out New York noted they were one of the “Top 5 Must See Bands” at the 2010 CMJ Festival while their 2011 album Through Low Light and Trees was named one ofAmerican Songwriter’s Top 50 albums of 2011. Wild Winter follows the bands’ 2012 release Blood Speaks of which Pitchfork said that Blamire and Davies “don’t trade vocal duties so much as appear to sing from the same body, their voices nearly indistinguishable, shifting between smoky moans and toe-curling trills” and their eponymously titled album was released in 2014 of which For Folks Sake said “Smoke Fairies are attempting to creatively push themselves into and beyond the ether.”

Check out the single above and more info on BADBADNOTGOOD'S junior LP titled III here

About BadBadNotGood:
BadBadNotGood is a young supremely talented trio of musicians made up of Matthew Tavares on keys, Chester Hansen on bass, and Alex Sowinski on drums. Since their inception at Humber College's Music Performance program in 2011, the three have challenged the rule book on improvised instrumental music and taken jazz tradition into the future. With early champions including acclaimed BBC broadcaster Gilles Peterson and Tyler The Creator who helped fuel their discovery with a series of live jams that instantly went viral and dubbed them the "Odd Trio", the band released their first EPBBNG in June 2011 to wide praise.
The marriage of jazz virtuosity and hip hop source material offered a fresh take on the traditional "standard" applied to hip hop classics by taking on choice cuts from the golden era rap cannon and writing inspired arrangements for them instead of one-dimensional covers. The band hit a landmark by introducing original material into their compositions with BBNG2 in 2012. New songs like "Rotten Decay", "Vices" or "UWM" carried on the proud heritage of musical juxtaposition by bringing together jazz, hip hop, punk, and dance music into vigorous balance.
Since then, they've won praise from the four corners of the globe and collaborated with Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, MF Doom, Pharaoh Monch and RZA among many. Their notorious live performances have brought fans across the whole musical spectrum together, taking the band around the world from Coachella to Glastonbury. In 2014, the inseparable friends released their biggest project to date III on prodigious young label Innovative Leisure, a highly-anticipated project ushering in the group's newest explorations which are proving to be limitless.

Glen Hansard's "My Little Ruin" video premieres at The Daily Beast + Colbert Nov 6

GLEN HANSARD’S “MY LITTLE RUIN” VIDEO PREMIERES AT THE DAILY BEAST
SET TO PERFORM ON“THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT” NOVEMBER 6
DIDN’T HE RAMBLE OUT NOW VIA ANTI-RECORDS
NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF IN NOVEMBER
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Glen Hansard’s new video for “My Little Ruin” is premiering now at The Daily Beasthttp://thebea.st/1Sd0tZx. The footage was captured the week of release at an impromptu house show organized by Hansard through a series of tweets. Set in a crumbling Georgian town house on Dublin’s northside, the setting was made all the more intimate given there was no amplification—just the glow of instruments and voices. “My Little Ruin” is taken from Hansard’s latest album Didn’t He Ramble, out now via Anti- Records.
Didn’t He Ramble continues to receive critical acclaim:
“The central ingredient remains Hansard’s worn but wonderfully flexible voice,
which sounds as kind and expressive as ever, with warmth to match
the songs he sings.”—NPR Music
“Didn’t He Ramble evokes a feeling similar to one of Van Morrison’s Celtic-soul fever dreams, burnishing the prevailing sense of romantic fatalism with some low-key bravado on the standout track ‘Winning Streak’ (a kissing cousin to Bob Dylan’s early-Seventies’ chestnut ‘Forever Young’).”—Rolling Stone
“If his instrumentation feels calmer than earlier, perhaps more spontaneous work, it’s because he’s now concentrating on turning up the volume of his words. Lyrics are pointed as Hansard’s often require more than an acoustic guitar.”—Paste
“Didn’t He Ramble offers up prayers to friends and family—and not with mere platitudes, but surges of white-hot honesty delivered in Hansard’s spoonful of sugar timbre.”—Consequence of Sound
In addition, Hansard is set to perform on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on November 6.
Hansard will support the new album on tour throughout North American this fall including stops at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Chicago Theatre in Chicago, the new Kings Theatre in Brooklyn and the Beacon Theater in New York City. See details below.
Didn’t He Ramble was produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sufjan Stevens), a frequent collaborator of Hansard’s, and Grammy winner and former Frames band-mate David Odlum(Paloma Faith, Tinariwen). The album, which was recorded in New York, Dublin, Chicago and France, is Hansard’s most intimate and elegant record since his work in Once and features guest appearances by John Sheahan (Dubliners), Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) and Sam Amidon.
Glen Hansard is the celebrated principal songwriter and vocalist/guitarist for the influential Irish group The Frames. Whether busking the streets of Dublin, where he got his start, or headlining a gig, Hansard has garnered a reputation as an unparalleled frontman. Hansard is also one half of the acclaimed duo The Swell Season. In 2007, he and Czech songstress Markéta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” off the Once soundtrack. In 2013, the Broadway adaptation, Once, The Musical, won eight Tony Awards including the top musical prize itself. His debut solo album Rhythm & Repose was released in 2012.
