FRØKEDAL: New Single 'Kid' Signals Full Length Debut In 2016

‘KID’  SIGNALS FRØKEDAL FULL LENGTH DEBUT IN 2016
NEW SINGLE ‘KID’ - TAKEN FROM DEBUT LP ‘HOLD ON DREAMER’ - OUT FEBRUARY 26 “There's a tranquillity to Frøkedal's latest offering that belies the lyrical gravitas, and the result is a track that's haunting and beautiful in equal measure.” – The Line Of Best Fit _ _
If songs are like children, it’s important to fend off favouritism… but perhaps there issomething a little special about Frøkedal’s latest,  ‘Kid’ . The single is paired with news of Frøkedal’s forthcoming debut album  ‘Hold On Dreamer’  – a ten-track offering, slated for release on February 26, 2016 via Propeller Recordings. Stream/embed ‘Kid’ below...

Kid opens with a depiction of a young child who falls asleep under the table during a family party,” explains singer/songwriter Anne Lise Frøkedal. It all seems conventional enough, before the track takes a somewhat poignant turn: “It turns out that this is only a made-up memory because all the photos of the child have disappeared along with the family's recollection of him”.

“I remember you, kid” forms a fitting refrain, and a comforting assurance that resonates throughout new album  ‘Hold On Dreamer’ . Lyrically, a theme runs across its ten tracks: “They deal with people whose lives are about to take a turn – for better or worse,” Frøkedal says. “For me, writing about change is much more interesting than exploring situations that already work. Most are real stories, about real people, some influenced by my own life more than others.”

Having fronted successful Norwegian outfits Harrys Gym and Grammy-nominated I Was A King (who count Sufjan StevensRobyn Hitchcock and Norman Blake among past collaborators), Frøkedal approached her solo descent differently, almost defiantly. “Almost everything I’d done in the past I tried to avoid,” she says. “Harrys Gym had a huge pop sound with lots of instruments, so the new songs had to be simple. I wanted a stripped-down sound that was still dynamic.

“Because everyone has a computer these days, there’s no limit to how many times you can multi-track. I’m sick of that. Big, busy songs don’t touch me emotionally anymore. I hoped to go the other way – to remove as much as I could and be left with a beating heart.”
The end result is  ‘Hold On Dreamer’  – a worthy successor to Frøkedal’s debut EP of September,  ‘I See You’ which was promptly praised by the likes of BBC Radio 6music,The Line of Best FitIndie ShuffleClash and The 405.  ‘Kid’  is released this Friday, November 13. The track is lifted from Frøkedal’s forthcoming debut LP ‘Hold On Dreamer’ – released February 26, 2016 via Propeller Recordings.facebook.com/frokedalmusic | twitter.com/Frokedalmusicfrokedal.com | instagram.com/frokedalmusic
– PRAISE FOR FRØKEDAL –
“…think Fleetwood Mac getting on pretty well with Joni Mitchell.”
– BBC Radio 6music, Lauren Laverne

“Frøkedal’s vocals are mournful but not desolate, wistful but never twee. Most
importantly, her melody is crafted with meditative warmth - its gentleness
makes it endlessly listenable.”
– The Line Of Best Fit, Song of the Day

“Frøkedal's rich, breathy voice demands every drop of your attention." – Indie Shuffle

“The carefully picked out melodies of the Norwegian songstress are matched
to an icy cool touch, a sense of glamorous introversion... a potent
introduction to something quite special.”
– CLASH

"Its meditative melody will have you hooked from the off
... we can’t get enough."
– Notion Magazine

“…kinetic, off-kilter pop” – The 405

“The latest musical incarnation of Oslo performer Anne Lise Frøkedal is one which
embraces space and simplicity, a project which creates a welcoming setting where collaboration and glistening folk-pop are the name of the game."
– Ja Ja Ja

“It’s like Joni Mitchell and the Mamas and the Papas
had a love child and named it Frøkedal.”

– Vulture Magazine

I am not just an innovator I am a fan and for my performance I'm going to perform never before heard tracks with a back-to-the future effect while mixing live on stage. I listen to artists like Bassnectar and it makes me feel good that the dream is still alive and being built upon by today's talented artists." The pristine 135 acre at Grizzly's Plantation Cove in St Ann, will form the backdrop of Paradise Lost whileoffering camping and glamping in Tent City (which will be opened March 5th through the 15th).    The location was chosen because of the natural beauty of the land, but more significantly its rich cultural history. St Ann is the birthplace of Bob Marley, Marcus Garvey, Burning Spear, and Shabba Ranks. It was there that Lee Scratch Perry discovered the Wailers (giving prominence to Marley and Peter Tosh). St Ann is also the burial place of Marley - who was laid to rest there in his family's mausoleum. Dub-Music will mark its 50th anniversary in 2016. The music form which was started in Waterhouse, Kingston, eventually led to a new form of music called "Electric Dance Music" - a phrase coined by Lee Scratch Perry, in June 2015. In speaking about the connection between EDM and Jamaica, Billboard wrote, "EDM DJ's that dissect and otherwise manipulate their tracks while playing live are following an innovation established by the brilliant Jamaican engineer, sound system owner/selector, the late King Tubby. While working as a disc cutter for Duke Reid and using a two-track recording console, Tubby eliminated vocal and instrumental segments, sometimes stripping a song down to a single, thunderous bass line, which he embellished with echo and reverb effects, in a process called dub."
"Jamaica is the entertainment mecca of the Caribbean," said Jason Hall, Deputy Director of Tourism, Cruise, Attractions and Events. "The island offers diverse festive options to both locals and visitors alike.  Jamaicans the world over, are proud of our musical heritage. Our music producers and artists are inventors and trendsetters, with one such innovation being Dub Music (Dub-Step), the precursor to Electric Dance Music.  The Jamaica Tourist Board is pleased that Caribbean Trans Media has seen it fit to bring the music back to its birthplace, Jamaica. " Paradise Lost also offers exciting and fun-filled Spring Break activities including: beachfront camping and bonfires, boat rides, fireworks display, Parasailing, Banana Boat Rides and other activities. In addition, over 50 local and international vendors will create "Paradise Village", a culinary hub. Paradise Lost is also proud to offer its attendees excursions to local attractions such as the world-famous Dunn's River Falls, as well as a tour of St. Ann to include a visit to Nine Mile, Bob Marley's birthplace and resting-place. Event partner and Paradise Lost spokesperson Jason Newman said at a recent press conference, "Paradise Lost will host 75,000 visitors ages 18-49 over the three day period, and as for the economic impact the event will bring to Jamaica, an estimated 2300 jobs will accompany the festival with millions of dollars in revenues being generated. We are thrilled to bring tourists to the island and bring Jamaican culture and hospitality to the festival community."  Paradise Lost will be the ultimate EDM festival in Jamaica - the unforgettable destination, featuring electrifying music, enriching Jamaican experiences hosted in a highly secured and friendly environment.

"An important step in the evolution of Lizzani's crime cinema." - Giallo Fever
During the 1960s Luciano Lutring committed more than one hundred armed robberies in Italy and on the French Riviera. To the media he was the 'machine gun soloist', a name he'd earned as he kept his weapon in a violin case. To the public he was a romantic figure, one who only targeted the wealthy, stealing more than 35 billion lire during his criminal career. Wake Up and Kill was the logical extension of such fame. It became the first feature to commit Lutring's story to celluloid, shooting having begun mere months after his eventual arrest. Capitalizing on the breakthrough success of his performance in French television's The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Robert Hoffmann is perfect as Lutring, bringing just the right amount of charisma and youthful exuberance to his first major big screen role. Directed by Carlo Lizzani (Requiescant), scored by Ennio Morricone, penned by the future screenwriter of Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, and featuring that film's star, Gian Maria Volonté, in a key supporting role, Wake Up and Kill's true-crime thrills serve as an enthralling dry run for the poliziotteschi movies that would follow a few years later. SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS:* Brand new 2K restoration of the film from the original camera negative* High Definition (1080p) Blu-ray and Standard Definition DVD presentations of two versions of the film: the original full-length Italian release, and the shortened English-language cut* Italian and English soundtracks in uncompressed PCM mono sound on the respective versions of the film* Newly translated English subtitles for the Italian version* Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the English cut* Theatrical trailer* Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Reinhard Kleist* Illustrated collector's booklet containing new writing on the film by Robert Curti, author of Italian Crime Filmography, 1968-1980

What Have You Done To Solange?  [BLU-RAY + DVD] coming December 15
"An accomplished film that should keep even the most hardened of giallo fanatics guessing until the very end." - Flickering Myth
From director Massimo Dallamano, cinematographer on both A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More, comes giallo classic What Have You Done to Solange?, the debut feature of actress Camille Keaton (I Spit on Your Grave). A sexually sadistic killer is preying on the girls of St. Mary's school. Student Elizabeth witnessed one of the murders, but her hazy recollections of a knife-wielding figure in black do nothing to further the police's investigations. Why is the killer choosing these young women? And what does it have to do with a girl named Solange? Also starring Cristina Galbo (Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue) and Fabio Testi (I Spit On Your Grave), What Have You Done with Solange? features all the hallmarks of classic gialli - the amateur detective, the black-gloved killer - as well as a lush score from Ennio Morricone. SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS:
* Brand new 2K restoration of the film from the original camera negative
* High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentations
* Original Italian and English soundtracks in mono audio
* Newly translated English subtitles for the Italian soundtrack

* Old-School Producer - a newly-edited 2006 interview with producer Fulvio Lucisano

HINDS Release New Song "San Diego"

HINDS   RELEASE NEW SONG "SAN DIEGO"Debut Album Leave Me AloneOut January 8th, 2016 via Mom + Pop/Lucky Number (Credit: Aaron Serrano)"...the exuberance that defines their live shows can't be taught. Mixing super-lo-fi guitar chugging with effervescent vocal harmonies, they're what it would sound like if a Sixties girl-group was born in a Nineties Seattle basement." - RollingStone.com
"The chillest four-piece in rock hail from Madrid, and write choruses so loose and lovely you'll want to wear them in like a favorite pair of sneakers." -  The FADER
"...effortless knack for crafting charming, infectiously ramshackle garage pop jams." -  Gorilla vs Bear
" We're head over heels." -  Noisey
"Their jangling, catchy garage rock is some of the most simply fun and addictive music we've heard in years...Trust us, it's fucking awesome." -  Pigeons & Planes
"...lo-fi garage rockers Hinds have already placed themselves at the forefront of the rising DIY rock scene in Madrid, Spain...[they] bring their carefree, jangly sound across the world, making listeners fall in love with their infectiously upbeat live shows."  - Consequence of Sound
Hinds are gearing up to release their highly anticipated debut album  Leave Me Alone  on January 8th via Mom + Pop, and today the band shares a new single off the LP entitled "San Diego." At just two and a half minutes long, "San Diego" is a fuzzed-out, melodic mantra from the Madrid-based four-piece, who always manage to sound like they're having the time of their lives while emphatically singing "stay close to me or know I'll die" as loud as they can in unison. The song premiered exclusively on Sirius XMU , where the track was on repeat all weekend long, and is now available online. PRESS HERE to listen to "San Diego" now.
Hinds on "San Diego":
"we all have bad days. we mean bad nights. one day a friend told us 'I don't wanna fall asleep because I know what's the dream about.' this song is about staying awake. just staying awake."

Since bursting onto the DIY scene last summer, Hinds have mastered a raw and playful sound all their own.  Leave Me Alone  - twelve perfectly imperfect and charmingly lo-fi tracks inspired by contemporary American garage rockers like Mac DeMarco, Ty Segall and The Black Lips - is an exciting first look at to the Spanish quartet who are pioneering the burgeoning indie music scene in Madrid. Hinds, with only a handful of songs released, have already earned early support from  Apple Music's Beats 1, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The FADER, Gorilla vs. Bear, BBC Radio,  and more. Now with their debut on the horizon, Hinds are firmly establishing themselves as one of the best emerging acts of the year and show no sign of slowing down.

Ringo Deathstarr Cover ‘Heart And Soul’ by T’Pau

Ringo DeathstarrCover ‘Heart And Soul’ by T’Pau HERE
‘Pure Mood’ AlbumOut on November 20th via Club AC30
RINGO 1
“Ringo Deathstarr kick f**king ass” – VICE
“This Texan noise-pop gang make a thrilling racket” – NME
“Guitars drenched in reverb and effects, Ringo Deathstarr know their way around a catchy pop melody” – The Guardian
Texan shoegaze pioneers Ringo Deathstarr return with their fifth studio album, ‘Pure Mood’ out via Club AC30 on November 20th.
Ringo Deathstarr was formed by Elliot Frazer in his hometown of Beaumont, but he soon relocated to the more musically active town of Austin. After a string of successful releases they settled on a solid line-up with Daniel Coborn and G.G. Alex before playing their knockout show at Reverence Festival in 2010 that secured them a place with Club AC30, the innovative label responsible for the recent successful releases by Pinkshinyultrablast, Taffy, Fever Dreamand Flyying Colours amongst others.
"We have never spent as much time on any album before, but it was only a few hours a day maybe 3 times a week...sometimes less. Waiting for the album to be released is the hardest part because we are ready to get out there and show it to the world!" The band eagerly anticipate the release of their next album; rightly so - pensive and pounding, ‘Pure Mood’ oozes all things dank, dark and dreamy. The 12 track LP, to be released in November, presents a vivid and searing collection of songs that re-imagine the shoegaze genre, allowing Ringo Deathstarr to soar beyond their contemporaries.
The aptly named opening track 'Dream Again' is sung by bassist G.G Alex, whose delicate voice echoes eerily over the spectral, otherworldly chords that pluck underneath. 'Heavy Metal Suicide' & ‘Stare At The Sun’ contain the same cathartic droning that has been previously celebrated by genre forefathers, My Bloody Valentive and Slowdive. Tracks like 'Never' and 'Boys In Heat' plunge the band and listener alike deep into the uncharted sonic depths of unadulterated, decadent sound. Elliott Frazer's vocals accentuate the eruption of noise behind his anthemic lyrics, dipping in and out of brief moments of clarity before bursting back into the manic grit of songs like 'Big Bopper' and 'Frisbee'. There's a daring clash of fury and fragility throughout 'Pure Mood' that demonstrates Ringo Deathstarr are not just reliving a scene, they're re-inventing it with their shattering use of chaotic guitars and haunting voices.
'Pure Mood' is a complex thrill-ride that's seeped in fervent shoegaze and lingering lyricism, proving Ringo Deathstarr are the torch-bearers of the movement and continue to contort and mutate into something beautiful. The 12 track LP will be released on November 20th via Club AC30.Tracklist

“Liberally doused in sick solos; it’s all manner of bawdy boss-bitch real talk wrapped up in garage punk brutalism.” – SPIN
“There’s plenty of White Stripes in their style…” – Rolling Stone
“…fascinating lyrical tilt” – Consequence of Sound
“…closer to the humor and rock chops of female grunge outfits like LA band L7 or Minneapolis trio Babes In Toyland.” – NME
“Like outrageously attired alchemists, they distil rock'n'roll down to its barest essences – thud, snarl, wooh! – and turn it into something precious again” – The Guardian

Los Angeles’ female power duo Deap Vally unleash their gritty new single “ Royal Jelly ” with VICE’s Noisey .  Produced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner, the track is viscous and heavy, bringing their rock ‘n’ roll roots to the forefront. As Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards put it, “It’s a song that takes its time, but the pay-off is great. It's definitely one of the funkiest songs on our upcoming new record.”
In celebration, Deap Vally also reveal the accompanying video featuring designer/model/fashion icon Georgia May Jagger. Directed by visual artist Jess Holzworth, the “Royal Jelly” video features far-out face and body paint by make-up visionary Isamaya Ffrench and is a celebration of strong, creative women. Fun fact: Julie was five months pregnant when the video was shot!
Deap Vally released their debut album Sistrionix in 2013 that received critical praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, SPIN, NME, The Guardian + more and was revered for its garage punk brutalism.  With a new record in the works for 2016, be sure to stay tuned for more!

More About Deap Vally...What’s that smell? FUNK, derived from the Latin “fumigare,” meaning, “to smoke.” The smoking ladies of Deap Vally don’t need boots to walk all over you. The barefoot duo’s mixture of brazen and sweet allows them to zigzag from songs of poignant social commentary and resolute declaration to vulnerable bare-all ballads and songs of universal empowerment. Not purely blues-rock-- sandwich them between funk and punk, because it’s just as much about attitude and intent as guitar-and-drums.
Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards met in a crochet class in 2011 (no lie), and have since then melted faces and blown minds all over the world, touring with Queens of the Stoneage, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, DIIV, Band of Skulls, the Vaccines, Marilyn Manson, Muse, Peaches, Babes in Toyland, and Mumford and Sons, appearing on Jools Holland, and playing festivals from Glastonbury to Austin Psych Fest to Splendor in the Grass all over the world on the wings of their 2013 debut album SISTRIONIX.
Deap Vally's high fidelity recording approach reproduces the soul of their live performance, capturing the raw energy and sex appeal that oozes from the stage. Little instrumentation, BIG SOUND. That is the magic of Deap Vally. They handle their instruments like machine guns, but snuggle kittens behind the scenes. These enigmatic women are wolves in sheep’s clothing by day, and sheep in wolves’ clothing by night (and if the thought of them as sheep makes you want to wear them as a sweater near to your heart, look out for their hand-crocheted merch). In 2016, Deap Vally will drop album number two (album title is still top secret), produced by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, featuring tracks ranging from experimental prog and kraut-rock to good old-fashioned heart-melters and ball-busters.

Bernard & Edith

"Crocodile" video

watch/share/enjoy here:

https://youtu.be/Nov0XJumjkk

premiered on The Fader here

directed by Liam Healy

Debut album "Jem" out now on Bella UnionFresh from performing live at Bristol's Simple Things and Iceland Airwaves festival, Manchester girl-boy duo Bernard & Edith have shared a deliciously dark new video for"Crocodile."The mystical clip is a trip to the bottom of the ocean via China and perfectly captures the mood of their twinkling yet sinister synth-pop song, as it tells the story of a young girl trying to enjoy life, whilst experiencing the unwanted attention of older men.

Directed by London based film maker Liam Healy, the video was partly shot on a beach in The Gower Peninsula, Wales. Nick "Bernard" Delap and Greta "Edith" Carroll explained the making of the video: "While shooting Crocodile, we we're filming in a rock lagoon by a Beach, when the Tide came in without anyone noticing. The water cut us off from any way of getting out of there so we had to Climb barefoot half naked up a 20ft cliff/rock face. It was terrifying. One slip and someone could have been in serious trouble. A music video of ours isn't a music video without a near death experience, that wasn't the first time something like that has happened."

The duo released their debut album of trippy, unconventional pop-noir earlier this year on Bella Union (home to Beach House, Ballet School and Fleet Foxes). “Jem”depicts a magical world of heart-break, trip hop blues and Japanese B movie soundtracks, drawing on influences ranging from Fever Ray to Portishead via Cocteau Twins, David Lynch and Kate Bush.
