Alongside the release of their forthcoming single 'Wide Open' (impacting December 11th), The Chemical Brothers have revealed a remix of the track by renowned Danish producer Kölsch, a firm favourite of critically acclaimed Kompakt Records. Kölsch is widely seen as an electronic innovator whose work has rewritten the rulebook of techno production – last Friday saw him play an incredible set at Fabric nightclub. His blissed out 'Wide Open' remix paints a lush and cinematic soundscape which is intercut with a heavy techno drop and was premiered by Annie Mac on her Radio 1 show on Friday.Closing the band's 6th consecutive number one album 'Born In The Echoes' (a feat shared with The Beatles, Eminem and Coldplay), Wide Open features vocals from the Beck and has been a mainstay of the duo's headline sets over the summer. “Beauty Duty” is taken from Master Of Confusion , Irmin Schmidt and Kumo (aka electronic composer and programming specialist Jono Podmore)’s 2001 debut album, which is included in Electro Violet , the career spanning retrospective from legendary avant-garde composer Irmin Schmidt.
This 12 CD deluxe box set, limited to 1000 copies worldwide, each signed by Schmidt, takes you on a journey through his entire solo work from 1981 to the present day and is out on Mute / Spoon Records on January 8, 2016, with the digital version out December 4, 2015.
Irmin Schmidt is a founding member of Can, the German band whose unparalleled genius remains unquestioned, timeless and immeasurably influential. When all Can members decided to part and explore new sounds, Irmin teamed up with Swiss jazz and electronics musician Bruno Spoerri to make his first post-Can album, Toy Planet . The collection travels through his Gormenghast opera, solo albums, collaborations with Kumo (Jono Podmore) and Duncan Fallowell, plus his extensive and award winning film soundtrack work.
After a classical education as pianist, conductor and composer, Irmin Schmidt - who studied under Stockhausen and Ligeti - established Can in the late 60s combining classic new music with rock and jazz. The band’s powerful influence has never diminished and recently Irmin Schmidt was awarded a Knighthood - the Chevalier De L'Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres - for his contribution to arts and culture by the French Ministry of Culture.
The Film Musik CDs include a previously unreleased album, Film Musik Anthology Vol. 6 in addition to music from across over 100 soundtracks and theatre compositions that Schmidt has worked on over the past three decades. The collection includes music from Palermo Shooting (Wim Wenders, 2008),Schneeland (Hans W. Geissendörfer, 2005) as well as the critically acclaimed German TV series Blochand Tatort, plus the TV film, Mord In Eberswalde by Stephan Wagner, for which Schmidt won the Best Film Music award from the Deutsche Akademie Für Fernsehen in 2013.

This will be the Deluxe 20th Anniversary Box Set edition of THE LIPS globally influential and essential edition of THE 1995 classic album CLOUDS TASTE METALLIC . The album is available for pre-order now via THE LIPS Official Store . All pre-orders will receive a series of instant downloadable tracks at various dates leading up to the release, each a previously unreleased rarity from this collection. The first instant track available now is a live version of "Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles". Clouds Taste Metallic , the band's seventh album, is considered one of The Lips' best and earned them much critical fanfare. Eleanor Friedberger has announced a month-long North American tour in support of her forthcoming record New View . Eleanor Friedberger will release New View on January 22nd, 2016. New View is the follow-up to 2013's critically acclaimed Personal Record and is her first album as a signee to NYC's seminal indie label Frenchkiss Records. New View signals a fresh beginning for the former Fiery Furnaces' frontwoman. After living in Brooklyn for fourteen years, Friedbergermoved to upstate New York, and the album reflects that region's rustic charm. Friedbergerdrew inspiration for New View from many of her musical heroes - everyone from Van Morrison, Neil Young and George Harrison, to Slapp Happy, Yoko Ono and Elyse. (November 13, 2015)-Today, School Of Seven Bells are pleased to share a new track off their upcoming and final record, SVIIB . Entitled “Open Your Eyes,” the premiere serves as a precursor to the album’s release on February 12, 2016. Check it out today exclusively on Vice.
It was in the summer of 2012 that SVIIB was written, “I can easily say that it was one of the most creative and inspired summers of our lives,” Alejandra Deheza recounts. “What followed was the most tragic, soul shaking tidal wave that life could ever deliver, but even that wouldn’t stop the vision for this record being realized”.It was in early 2013 that Benjamin Curtis was diagnosed with a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, less than a year later Deheza would be the sole member of the group. Benjamin Curtis passed away on December 29, 2013.
In 2014 Deheza moved to Los Angeles to finish the record with Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails, M83), “I’m trying to feature Benjamin as much as possible”, Meldal-Johnsen says. As soon as Alley was settled in LA it took the two only a month and a half to finish the record. “ This is a love letter from start to finish. It's the story of us starting from that first day we met in 2004, and that's the story of School of Seven Bells,” Alley says, “When I see those roman numerals, I just think of an era”.
SVIIB will be released on February 12, 2016 via Vagrant Records in the US, and Full Time Hobby in Europe, but today fans can pre-order the album on iTunes and receive “Open Your Eyes” as an instant download.

A psychedelic mosaic with international scope, 30th Century Records Compilation Volume I , touches both future and classic sounds from the sun-drenched shores of Brazil to the murky depths of Glasgow. Dan Auerbach’s blistering riffage in The Arcs, and Autolux’s arty experimentalism are featured alongside Sam Cohen’s rough-hewn authenticity and emotive rockers from newcomers like Nine Pound Shadow and Waterstrider. Compiled by Danger Mouse, this album finds guitar music alive and well from the garage to the depths of space.
NPR has shared two of the compilation’s tracks today, Sam Cohen’s collaboration with Danger Mouse entitled “Lose Your Illusion” (LISTEN), and Nine Pound Shadow’s “Melody” (LISTEN). Both tracks are available everywhere today, November 13.
Multi-instrumentalist Sam Cohen writes naturalist songs steeped in blissed out soul grooves and futurist guitar work. This former member of Apollo Sunshine and leader of Yellowbirds is no stranger to fuzzy psychedelia and enchanting melodies. They are presented here with the direct minimalism innate to solo work by John Lennon and Neil Young. Explosive synthesizers and earth-rattling guitar bring an otherworldliness that maintains its roots on this latest track produced with Danger Mouse. Berkeley brothers Nine Pound Shadow stew in the wooded unknown. Their austere pop, dirty yet majestic like The Zombies, possesses a romantic lilt. There’s a lightness to the scuzz, an undeniable buzz as knotty guitars and hissing acoustics make for an era-transcending missive.
The compilation will also feature a brand new track from Autolux, who will release their forthcoming album via 30th Century Records in 2016, as well as an exclusive new track from Dan Auerbach’s project, The Arcs. Details about Autolux’s new album will be revealed in the coming weeks.

To coincide with the release of the album ATCQ is set to perform on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this evening, which will mark their first television appearance in 15 years and also first LIVE performance together in more than two years. In addition, Mass Appeal has premiered a three part series "Paths of Rhythm with Jarobi White Part 1" TODAY. Part 2 will debut on Monday with the final part following on Tuesday, November 17th. The 25th anniversary edition of People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm has been remastered from the original tapes by Grammy-Award winning engineer Bob Power, and re-released with exclusive new remixes by Pharrell Williams, J.Cole and CeeLo Green.
