The Brian Jonestown Massacre announce North American tour dates
“Tapping a hallucinatory furrow that draws on his encyclopedic welter of counter cultural knowledge, the music Anton Newcombe makes with The Brian Jonestown Massacre represents some of the most idiosyncratic to emerge from the outer church of psychedelia these past two decades.” - Harry Sword(Kaleidoscope)

“The man behind the Brian Jonestown Massacre embodies a rock archetype: the wildly creative yet self-destructive genius. His prolific output includes more than 15 BJM albums …and this year alone includes a soundtrack to an imaginary French film, a short LP called Mini Album Thingy Wingy, and a drone-rock side-project with Toronto rock’n’roller Tess Parks. Every offering is invariably coloured by his reputation as a loose cannon.” – Rhik Samadder (The Guardian)

[image error]THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE: Mini Album Thingy Wingy CD
A RECORDINGS (UK) / AUK 033CD
release date: 11/13/2015DESCRIPTION
Mini Album Thingy Wingy contains seven brand new and exclusive Brian Jonestown Massacre tracks recorded by Anton Newcombe in is his studio in Berlin in 2014 and '15. Running at 35 minutes, the mini-album was co-produced, engineered, and mixed by Fabien Leseure. Four songs written by Newcombe; the band's first Slovakian song, co-written with Vladimir Nosal ("Prsí Prsí"); a composition by Newcombe and Tess Parks ("Pish"); and a cover of the 13th Floor Elevators' "Dust" featuring Alex Maas from The Black Angels on jug. Originally, Newcombe was heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones' psychedelic phase, but his work in the 2000s has expanded into aesthetic dimensions approximating the UK shoegaze genre of the 1990s and incorporating influences from world music, especially Middle Eastern and Brazilian music. This album mixes the traditional Brian Jonestown Massacre sound with Eastern influences and brings it up to date with the benefit of all the additional weirdness that's been discovered in the past 40 years.

Låpsley makes her late night TV debut with a stunning performance of "Falling Short"
LÅPSLEY ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM
LONG WAY HOME
TO BE RELEASED ON MARCH 4 ON XL RECORDINGS HEAR NEW SINGLE “LOVE IS BLIND”
HERE
JAN. 22 PERFORMANCE CONFIRMED ON THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
London-based singer, songwriter and producer Holly ‘Låpsley’ Fletcher today reveals details of her highly-anticipated debut album. The 19 year old will release Long Way Home on Friday, March 4th on XL Recordings. The twelve track album features new versions of her previous acclaimed releases “Hurt Me”, “Falling Short”, “Painter” and “Station”, as well as brand new single “ Love Is Blind .” To celebrate the announcement of Long Way Home , Låpsley will make her late night TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this Friday with a performance of her widespread single “Falling Short.”

Long Way Home documents a turbulent time in Låpsley’s life — a period in which she revelled in her new-found music career as it took her from Liverpool to London to Los Angeles and back again “It’s an autobiography of my emotions and events over the past year,” she says. “Everything that’s happened, I’ve channelled in some way into a song – whether that’s the theme of a long distance relationship, or something that he’s said, or the way that I’ve felt, or an argument. I only revisit the memories of that relationship when I go into the studio. I think it’s helped me, to be able to collect everything for those moments when I’m writing. I think that’s what’s driven this album.”
Låpsley’s determined views on her own production have ensured her involvement in every element of these songs — a fact that in the early days seemed to confuse many of the producers she met. “They didn’t want to listen to me,” she says, “or they think a girl’s just there to add a top line, or they come to the table with ideas already. Straight away if I come in to a studio and someone says ‘I’ve written something for you’, then I’ll just walk out. I don’t care. I’m not there for that.”
For the bulk of Long Way Home she worked with XL’s in-house producer Rodaidh McDonald. “This album wouldn’t be how it is if it wasn’t for Rodaidh,” she says. “He’s at the top of the thank yous.” There were two tracks recorded with Paul O’Duffy, a producer she admired because “The way that he thinks is different to anybody else. He’s not tainted by a commercial idea, it’s so creative and beautiful and what I aspire to be like in the future.” She worked with Mura Masa for the album’s closing track, a song that gave the record its title. “That lyric about taking the long way home just sums up the relationship,” she says. “It has two different meanings: the album’s about a long distance relationship, but also if you walk the long way home with someone you’re trying to spend as much time as you can with them.”

Renowned musician and filmmaker Adam Green shared his first full track and music video from Adam Green’s Aladdin, a hyper-sensory, poetic and humorously subversive take on the Classic Arabian Nights tale, written and directed by Green. The movie features a brand new soundtrack album composed and recorded by Green, who will be kicking off a worldwide ‘Aladdin Tour’ concurrent with the film and album's release in Spring 2016.
The film is a modern day version of Aladdin, with Green starring as the titular character, and explores the recesses of Green’s symbolic imagination wherein the lamp is a 3-D printer, the princess is a decadent socialite, the planet gets a sex-change and its population prints out an analogue version of the Internet.
“With Aladdin, I wanted to create a single and unified experience to showcase my music, art and writing,” said Adam Green. “When creating Aladdin, I approached the script like it was a song. It has been the creative journey of a lifetime, and I’m so excited to put this out!”
The fantasy film stars an ensemble cast featuring some of New York’s biggest arts, music, and film talent, including:
Adam Green - AladdinMacaulay Culkin - Ralph the Rebel LeaderNatasha Lyonne - Aladdin’s MomJack Dishel - Uncle Gary / SultanAlia Shawkat - Aladdin's sisterFrancesco Clemente - The GenieHar Mar Superstar - British Druggie GuyDevendra Banhart - SaucemakerBip Ling - the Princess Zoe Kravitz - Old Miner The movie was filmed entirely with handmade paper-máche sets, with more than 500 props and 30 rooms constructed out of phone books, newspapers, glue, and house-paint. The satirical odyssey revolves around Aladdin’s dysfunctional family, who live in an ordinary city ruled by a corrupt Sultan and explores themes of technology, government repression, greed and true-love.
About AdamAdam Green is renowned around the globe as one of music’s most unique and prolific songwriting talents - his songs have been performed by artists as diverse as The Libertines, Carla Bruni, Kelly Willis, Dean & Britta, and Will Oldham. A New York native, Green was just 17-years old when he recorded and released his first album. As part of the downtown antifolk scene at the end of the nineties he made up one-half of The Moldy Peaches, who enjoyed belated mainstream success via the Grammy-winning, #1 Billboard Chart ranking soundtrack of the 2007 Academy Award-winning movie Juno. As a solo artist Green has recorded 9 albums, many of which have become cult hits. His 2005 record Gemstones went Gold in Europe.
His eruptive bursts of creativity have led him into the world of movies and visual arts - staging exhibitions across Europe and America, most recently at LISTE art fair in Basel. He also found himself writing/producing/directing and acting in The Wrong Ferrari (2010), a “screwball tragedy” which was the first feature film shot entirely on an iPhone. It has since been featured in the curriculum of NYU’s Tisch Film School. Rolling Stone magazine described it as “Fellini on Ketamine.”
He's currently completing his second feature film Adam Green's Aladdin - an immersive fantasy film starring Macaulay Culkin, Natasha Lyonne, Alia Shawkat, and Francesco Clemente - with Green playing Aladdin. The subversive and dazzling art-film was shot entirely on papier-mache sets. The story is a modern day version of Aladdin wherein the lamp is a 3-D printer, the Princess is a decadent socialite, the planet gets a sex-change, and its population prints out an analogue version of the Internet.
In 2015 Adam began a collaboration with Mich Dulce making a line of hats inspired by his artwork and the Aladdin movie. The designs incorporate elements from his HOUSEFACE symbolic alphabet, a group of reduced cubist pictographs gleaned from the facial features of the popular cartoon characters Garfield, Big Bird, and Elmo. In January of 2016 he will exhibit the art from Adam Green's Aladdin at the Fondation Beyeler Museum in Basel, Switzerland.
Of his now multifaceted career Green, says: “You know how people are always looking for a unifying theory? I was looking for a unifying theory of artistic expression. I was trying to create some kind of fluidity within my music, art, writing. If you listen to my songs, you see they’re kind of cartoonish. I try to make songs like my paintings. When creating my movie, I approached the script like it was a song.”
