Wussy Announce New Album 'Forever Sounds' + Release First Single

Wussy Announce New Album
Forever Sounds out March 4th

Release First Single “ Dropping Houses

Pre-Order Album Here

“America’s best songwriting band might now be among its
best soundscaping ones” –  SPIN

“Maximum singability and staying power” –  Pitchfork

Formed on a dare in 2001, Cincinnati’s Wussy is at the forefront of New Midwestern Psychedelia. Following the release of their cult classic debut in 2005, “to certain fans ofLucinda Williams, Crazy Horse, Mekons and R.E.M., Wussy became the best band in America almost instantaneously with...Funeral Dress” (SPIN)Heralded by critics for both their songwriting and varied sonic palettethe five-piece is pleased to announce their sixth full-length  Forever Sounds , due out March 4 via Shake It Records & Damnably(UK/Europe). Dubbed by SPIN as “their most challenging and densely textured to date”, the new album finds Wussy crafting raw and melodic material, exploring such themes as hauntings, false prophets, aliens, and The Big Lebowski all blanketed inside layers of noise. In anticipation for the release, Wussy has revealed the first track “Dropping Houses” on SPIN. The single will be available for download via Bandcamp and in a limited run of 7” vinyl’s starting January 29.

Lyrically, Forever Sounds deals with themes of the unknown, the archaic, and the occult. Album opener, “Dropping Houses” looks back at a toxic relationship and mentions theWizard of Oz through a singable wall of noise. Other pop culture references abound, such as “Donny’s Death Scene” which eulogizes Donny Kerabatsos in the Coen Brothers movie The Big Lebowski. “She’s Killed Hundreds” offers a catchy, fuzzed out track about hearing the fantastic tales of someone or something that you’ve lost.

Made up of Chuck Cleaver (Ass Ponys), Lisa Walker, Mark Messerly, Joe Klug, and John Erhardt, Wussy has truly come into their own on the new album. Following the band’s first US TV appearance on CBS in 2014 and increased critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork and SPIN, they headed to the studio to record Forever Sounds with renewed vigor. John Hoffman and Jerri Queen (both of Vacation), along with John Curley (Afghan Whigs) at Curley’s Ultrasuede Studios, the new team and location enabled the band to take more chances and create the sound they had always been reaching for. While their pop sensibilities remain intact, the mix and instrumentation are more reminiscent of the band’s noise-heavy live shows. The album’s ten tracks are full of hope, determination, heartbreak, deception, aliens, the supernatural, the everyday, friendship, love and second chances.

The Coral Announce New Album Titled "Distance Inbetween," Share New Single, "Miss Fortune"

UK’s THE CORAL TO RELEASE NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM, DISTANCE INBETWEEN, ON FRIDAY, MARCH 4 VIA IGNITION RECORDS
VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE, “MISS FORTUNE,” NOW STREAMING ONLINE
WATCH: “MISS FORTUNE” (VIA YOUTUBE)
Influential Hoylake, UK five-piece The Coral are pleased to announce the Friday, March 4 release of their forthcoming album titled  Distance Inbetween  on Ignition Records (pre-order via  iTunes ). Distance Inbetween is The Coral’s first album of original material since 2010’s Butterfly House, a gap punctuated by last year’s surprise release of their lost album, The Curse of Love. Since their debut EP release in 2001 the band have sold over a million UK albums, with five reaching the Top 10 including 2003’s chart-topping Magic and MedicinePhoto: Ben Morgan VessellRecorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studio with co-producer Richard TurveyDistance Inbetween is the band’s seventh album and was recorded live and mostly in just one take. The seams of each of the album’s 12-tracks are purposely rough-hewn and pave the way for a new visceral sound from a totally reenergized band. On the recording, James Skelly (vocals, guitars), Ian Skelly (drums/percussion/vocals), Nick Power (keyboard/vocals), and Paul Duffy (bass/keyboards/vocals) are joined by Coral newbie, guitarist Paul Molloy, formerly of The Zutons"Before we started making the album we had discussed that we wanted it to be more minimal and rhythmical,” explains Skelly. “We thought ‘if you've got a rhythm section that’s been playing together for almost twenty years, why not make that the centre of the songs?’"
Miss Fortune  is the first single to be taken from the album and is a tune that is able to stand up against all of The Coral’s eight Top 40 singles, which include the alternative classics “Dreaming Of You,” “In The Morning,” “Pass It On,” and “Don’t Think You’re The First.” On Boxing Day, The Coral released to fans a free MP3 andvideo of album track “Chasing The Tail Of A Dream” with a limited edition, signed 7” version made exclusively available via the band’s online store. Despite not being a “single,” “Chasing The Tail Of A Dream” has been added to the playlists at BBC 6Music and Radio X and featured as a Track Of The Week on Absolute Radio.
On Distance Inbetween listeners are invited into The Coral’s world of Richard Yates’ books, Alan Moore comics, 1980's toys, the sound of krautrock compilations and Muddy Waters’ Electric Mud, and Gregory Crewdson’s darkly beautiful photography. The album is dedicated to Alan Wills, The Coral’s early mentor and Deltasonic label boss who tragically lost his life in 2014.

Watch: Shearwater’s “Quiet Americans” official video (Stereogum Premiere)

Watch: Shearwater’s “Quiet Americans” official video (Stereogum Premiere)

http://www.stereogum.com/1854305/shearwater-quiet-americans-video-stereogum-premiere/video/

Jet Plane and Oxbow out tomorrow
worldwide on Sub Pop

Shearwater have shared the official video for “Quiet Americans”, the lead single from Jet Plane and Oxbow, out tomorrow on CD/ 2xLP/ DL worldwide on Sub Pop. The intense visual stars frontman Jonathan Meiburg and was directed by Alex Rapine.

Stereogum had this to say about the video, “Channeling albums like David Bowie’s Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) and the Talking Heads’ Remain In Light, the band’s lead singer and songwriter Jonathan Meiburg has used this new record to add some polished experimentation and drama to the band’s ever-evolving sound. Director Alex Rapine’s video matches that aesthetic shift with a sleek, dark color palette, flickering lights, and a besuited Meiburg showing off his best evil grin (see premiere January 21st).”

Shearwater’s Jet Plane and Oxbow is earning the group some of its best reviews to date, from outlets on both sides of the Atlantic. Highlights include:

NPR Music: “Fussed-over sounds abound — one track finds room for both synthesizer and dulcimer — which helps render Meiburg's songs both unsettling and majestic. The terrific "Quiet Americans" checks many of the band's boxes right away, as the synths peal through static, while Meiburg's vocals bark, swoop, soar and swoon in tune with the moment. From there, the palette expands and contracts to include booming, stadium-sized urgency ("A Long Time Away"); a persistently rumbling, exploratory epic worthy of Wilco ("Filaments"); and a ballad that sneaks in some of Meiburg's favorite themes ("Wildlife In America"). Of course, that big, elastic voice remains at the center of these songs, but so too does a mandate to fill the surrounding air with big, bold ideas.”

MOJO: "A defiant moody exploration of the magic and menace of technology." [4/5]

Uncut: "Meiburg's finest album to date." [8/10]

Rolling Stone: “It's refreshing to hear them switch things up on this, their seventh full-length release, by writing more immediate pop songs without sacrificing their rich, thoughtfully placed instrumentation.”

Consequence of Sound: “Jet Plane and Oxbow can’t be locked into a single place or time, instead patching together its own alternate past. They leave room for their glossy influences and the gritty present to communicate with each other, threading catchy hooks through more complex backgrounds. The prime example is “Quiet Americans”, a dark track that transforms relatively quickly into a comfortable earworm.”

EXCLAIM: “The sense of velocity and flight, paired with Meiburg's dramatic vocals, delivered with Bowie-like flair here, making Jet Plane and Oxbow a natural progression for Shearwater, and a nice departure from their typical offerings.”

PopMatters: “Jet Plane and Oxbow is a remarkably polished, alluring, and dignified accomplishment.” [8/10]

The Skinny: "The band's punchiest and most populist work to date." [4/5]

Shearwater’s 2016 North American and European tour schedule in support of Jet Plane and Oxbow begins February 3rd in Austin, TX at North Door and currently ends March 26th in Portland, OR at Mississippi Studios. Main support will come from Barsuk recording artist Laura Gibson (March 16th - 19th). Please find a complete routing below.

Jet Plane and Oxbow will be available tomorrow through Sub Pop Mega Mart, iTunes, and Amazon. LP preorders though megamart.subpop.com will receive the limited “Loser” edition on blue colored vinyl (while supplies last).

More about Shearwater:
This is definitely Shearwater’s biggest and loudest record—it’s easy to imagine these songs roaring from the stage—but it’s also their most detailed and intricate one. Front man Jonathan Meiburg and producer/engineer Reisch (who also recorded 2012’s Animal Joy and the off-the-cuff collaborations of 2014’s Fellow Travelers) spent two years crafting Jet Plane and Oxbow with help from drummer Cully Symington, longtime Shearwater associates Howard Draper and Lucas Oswald, and tourmates Jesca Hoop, Abram Shook, and Jenn Wasner.

But their secret weapon this time is film composer and percussionist Brian Reitzell, whose soundtracks include The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, The Bling Ring, and 30 Days of Night. Reitzell’s arsenal of strange instruments emphasizes Jet Plane and Oxbow’s cinematic depth and scope, and reflects the band’s choice to anchor the record in the era when digital technology was just beginning to transform the world of recorded music. In Shearwater’s hands this doesn’t feel like nostalgia; the racing synths and hammered dulcimers of heart-pounding opener “Prime” or the addled motorik of “Radio Silence” sound more like a metaphor for our own bewildering moment (read more at Sub Pop).

Watch A New Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Video!

LET THY BON SCUM FLOW POND SCUM  OUT ON JANUARY 22ND, 2016!  Pond Scum  is an integral piece in the evolution of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's progressive and prolific catalog. A collection of sessions recorded for John Peel's influential BBC sessions that spans eight years of Bonnie's career,  Pond Scum  is essential for longtime fans and first-time listeners alike. Will Oldham's songwriting is powerful and compelling, accompanied only by a single guitar and a few subtle, yet captivating harmonies.
Recorded in 2001, "When Thy Song Flows Through Me" is one of the finest paradigms of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's illustrious career. Inspired by the devotional chant by Paramahansa Yogananda, Bonny's version is every bit as spiritual and moving as the original. To accompany such a poignant adaptation, Bonnie enlisted the help of Louisville based director Ryan Daly to construct moving images that soothe the mind and body. The divinely breathtaking video for "When Thy Song Flows Through Me" was partly inspirited by the works of Nathaniel Dorsky and Jerome Hiler and is dazzling in its simplicity.

Lily & Madeleine's new video premieres at Paste Magazine, March tour dates confirmed

LILY & MADELEINE’S NEW VIDEO
“FOR THE WEAK” PREMIERES AT PASTE MAGAZINE
KEEP IT TOGETHER OUT FEBRUARY 26 ON NEW WEST RECORDS
MARCH TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
“Indianapolis-born sisters Lily & Madeleine fold stunning harmonies into brushed drums, dreamy strings, and soft keys—and fade into you in the process.”—NYLON
“Their songs have a maturity that transcends their years.”—KCRW Lily & Madeleine’s official music video for their new single, “For The Weak,” recently premiered atPaste Magazine and can now be watched/shared here. Of the video, which was directed by George Salisbury (The Flaming Lips), Paste praises, “dreamy pop…full of sparkling lights and liquid visuals.”
The single, which was recently featured as  KCRW ’s “Today’s Top Tune,” is from the duo’s anticipated new album  Keep It Together , which will be released February 26 on New West Records and now available for pre-order. Each pre-order includes an instant download of “For The Weak” along with the album track, “Hourglass.”
In advance of the release, BULLETT Media recently premiered the official video for “Hourglass” asserting, “…the sisters’ voices blend harmoniously, offering a glimpse into the dreamy sonic landscape the two are capable of delivering. The Laurel Cohen-directed video’s centers on fast cuts of slow motion clips, paired with bright hues and spliced together images to reflect the track’s subtle intricacies. It’s a bit of a craft explosion, as Lily & Madeleine are shown playfully covered in buttons and enveloped in clouds of colored smoke,” while  Entertainment weekly  calls the track “a musical dreamscape.”
In celebration of the release, the duo will embark on a U.S tour this March, which includes shows in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and New York, with additional shows just added in Louisville, Nashville and Atlanta. See below for complete tour dates.
Recorded at home in Bloomington, Ind. with producer Paul Mahern, who also helmed Lily & Madeleine’s lauded debut and sophomore albums, the 10-song record features the help of friends and touring band members Shannon Hayden (cello, mandolin, guitar, Moog) and Kate Siefker (drums, percussion, guitar, bass).
Of the project, Madeleine comments, “Working with a closer knit team of just four ladies helped tighten our sound and unify each track into a complete collection. The title of the album is a lyric from the first track ‘Not Gonna,’ which Lily wrote. This simple phrase has a lot of meaning to us: keep your shit together, keep our relationship as sisters together, pressure to keep our image a certain way as young ladies.”
Lily adds, “Along with reflecting on the personal bonds that Madeleine and I both have, I also really wanted to focus more on the bigger picture and write about the experience of being a white woman in America and a collegeage kid in the 21st century. As I attempt to further discover who I am as an individual, the way society wants me to define myself is becoming clearer. It seems to me that young people are the same everywhere: regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic class. All young adults are in the same boat, trying to figure out what makes us individuals and trying to find our value in society.”
The new recording comes on the heels of the prolific duo’s highly-regarded sophomore release, Fumes, and is the their third full-length album in three years, following an EP and two LPs on Sufjan Stevens’ label Asthmatic Kitty. Of their last effort ELLE Magazine asserted, “...the twosome, known for their pinpoint harmonies and vocal precision, had no reservations about flipping the script this go-round: They amped up the production and gave their new album…a far more bombastic sound,” while NPR Musicpraised, “Fumes is a misleading record, the way a masterfully performed dance is misleading: It looks easy only because the complexities behind it are unfathomable to outsiders. There’s a borderlessness to Lily & Madeleine that leans from seamlessly natural to mesmerizingly preternatural, hinting at deeper forces at work than skill and practice.” Since their debut in 2013, the duo has performed on CBS’ “This Morning,” KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series and “A Prairie Home Companion.”
