BurroughsDerek Jarman, and Timothy Leary, among others. In 2003, New York artist and musician Edley ODowd (formerly of the legendary Toilet Boys) worked with Genesis P-Orridge to reform a new vision and voice for Psychic TV. The result has been a 12 year run of concerts and releases as Psychic TV / PTV3. Lissie Announces US Tour Dates; Shares Video For Don't You Give Up On Me

LISSIE ANNOUNCES US TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF FORTHCOMING ALBUM RELEASE 'MY WILD WEST;' PRESENTS MUSIC VIDEO FOR 'DON'T YOU GIVE UP ON ME'

Gearing up to release her most personal album to date, My Wild West, Lissie is also excited to announce an accompanying US tour, which will kick off this Spring!  The forthcoming release is her third studio album, to be released through her own label, Lionboy Records and Thirty Tigers, which will be available on February 12, 2016.  The video for the first single, 'Don't You Give Up On Me' premiered last Friday via Marie Claire, and the tour de force on-screen performance shows Lissie in her element, at her new home in Iowa, miles away from her 'wild west' in California.  Of the upcoming album, Marie Claire raves, "Her new album My Wild West is primed to be a ray of light amidst the doldrums of winter." 'My Wild West' chronicles a 12-year chapter of Lissie's life spent in California and hints on her desire of a new adventure. The new adventure being her relocation from California to her newly purchased 10-acre farm in Iowa, where the video for 'Don't You Give Up On Me' was filmed. Lissie explains: "I loved the idea of filming this video on my land and we really lucked out when we hit record and the snow started falling. The fields and trees in white were breathtaking! Sitting in the back of my dodge ram pickup and singing as we passed these open glistening spaces was really special. It's all a bit of a dream and I'm happy to have broken the farm in with a video for a song that means a lot to me as I head into my next chapter. Watch the video for 'Don't You Give Up On Me' here Lissie says of her decision to uproot herself from the West Coast, "California and the West Coast weren't problematic and I certainly didn't struggle. Like any life phase, they had their ups & downs, beautiful and challenging moments. Rather, I felt empowered that I could leave and get out, take off, demand a new adventure from life! The song is a plea to God or to a person or to whomever to hang in there with me while I figure it out!  There's a line in the song 'I left you on the coast for something only I can see' and that's just it. I have a personal vision and it may be hard for others to understand at times but I have to follow it!"  An undeniably relatable sentiment shared by all fueled by possibilities and in hot pursuit of adventure. Catch Lissie live at the following dates: Saturday, January 23rd @ 4:40 PM ASCAP Music Café, SundanceSunday, January 24th @ 3:15 PM Sundance/KCRW showSaturday, March 12th @ Snowshoe MountainThursday, March 17th @ SXSWFriday, March 18th @ SXSWTuesday, March 29th @ El Rey, Los Angeles, CAWednesday, March 30th @ Slim's, San Francisco, CAFriday, April 1st @ Star, Portland, ORSaturday, April 2nd @ Columbia Theatre, Seattle, WAMonday, April 4th @ Urban Lounge, Salt Lake City, UTTuesday, April 5th @ Bluebird, Denver, COThursday, April 7th @ Trees, Dallas, TXFriday, April 8th @ Emo's, Austin, TXSaturday, April 9th @ Numbers, Houston, TXMonday, April 11th @ Terminal West, Atlanta, GATuesday, April 12th @ 3rd & Lindsley, Nashville, TNThursday, April 14th @ 9:30 Club, Washington DCFriday, April 15th @ Johnny Brenda's, Philadelphia, PASaturday, April 16th @ The Royale, Boston, MAMonday, April 18th @ Bowery Ballroom, New York, NYTuesday, April 19th @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYThursday, April 21st @ Mr. Smalls, Pittsburgh, PAFriday, April 22nd @ Thalia Hall, Chicago, ILSaturday, April 23rd @ Varsity, Minneapolis, MN

MGMT FEATURED ON 'SONG EXPLODER' PODCAST TODAY

MGMT FEATURED ON SONG EXPLODER
PODCAST TODAY
New York, NY – Grammy Award®-nominated multi-platinum rock band MGMT is featured on Song Exploder’s latest podcast today. In the segment, the duo—Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden—break down the creative decisions behind their  breakout smash, “Time To Pretend, and reconstruct the song piece-by-piece.

Check it out HERE.

Among many accolades, Rolling Stone named “Time To Pretend” one of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”, while NME placed it on their list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” and among “The Best Songs of the 2000s.”

Originally recorded for the Time To Pretend EP, which recently saw vinyl re-release for Record Store Day Black Friday, the group would re-record a second version of “Time To Pretend” as the lead track for their platinum-certified debut,  Oracular Spectacular , which Rolling Stone ranked on “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” and on “The Best Albums of the Decade.” The track became a cultural phenomenon appearing across film, television, and video games, and attracting a generation of fans with its instantly recognizable intro, instrumentation, and hook.

Stay tuned for more from MGMT.

About Song Exploder:
Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians take apart their songs and tell the story of how they were made. Host Hrishikesh Hirway interviews artists about the decisions — both big and small — that go into the process of creating a single song, using the isolated instruments and sounds from the original recording to illustrate how those ideas came to life. At the end of each episode, the song is re-assembled, and the finished track is played in its entirety. The show has been a hit with audiences, artists, and critics alike, with over half a million downloads each month, and guests like Bono and The Edge of U2, Björk, Death Cab for Cutie, and The National. Slate called it a "brilliant concept," and Vulture put it in its Top Podcasts of 2015, saying "Song Exploder is probably the best use of the podcast format ever."

Knifeworld announce new album 'Bottled Out Of Eden'

Knifeworld announce new album 'Bottled Out Of Eden'
London-based psychedelic octet Knifeworld are extremely pleased to announce their third studio album 'Bottled Out Of Eden', due for release on InsideOut Music on the April 22nd, 2016. The follow-up to 2014's 'The Unravelling', described by The Guardian as "an ingenious, joyful exercise in exploratory zeal", BOOE is a subtler but more immediate record than any other Knifeworld release. At times beautiful and uplifting & at others melancholic, haunting and otherworldly, the album remains surprisingly accessible and frontman Kavus Torabi had this to say: "After The Unravelling, which took over a year to complete, we deliberately wanted to change the variables. To alter the approach in order to make something different. I love The Unravelling but it was a very difficult record to make. Rather than spending so long in the studio, constructing, arranging, recording, re-recording and adding layers of additional instruments and noises, this time round we wanted something rawer, more live sounding." Torabi continues:"Once we had the title, 'Bottled Out Of Eden', the songs came very quickly. For me, the title has three possible interpretations and all the songs fall under at least one of them. I always like to have a definite theme, it allows you to map out the territory making it far easier to identify which songs that will or won't fit with the overarching idea giving the record a far greater cohesion." 'Bottled Out Of Eden' fuses elements of English psychedelic pop, folk and art rock, with NY minimalist-inspired horn arrangements and typically unconventional song structures that take full advantage of the bands 8-piece line-up. The tail end of last year saw that full band out on tour in the UK with their friends in Vennart where they road-tested several songs from the album. Kavus continues:
"One aspect of Bottled Out Of Eden is the idea of a self-made Heaven or a self-imposed Hell, that agony or ecstasy are often a choice. I look back on the twenty five years of making the kind of music I do, particularly the last six with Knifeworld and just feel so fortunate for the friendships, experiences and absolute joy it has brought. I wanted the album to be as much about that, a celebration of this all too fleeting life, as it is a reflection on death and its impact on everyone that is left behind." The full line-up of Knifeworld is as follows: Kavus TorabiMelanie WoodsEmmett ElvinChloe HeringtonCharlie CawoodOliver SellwoodBen WoollacottJosh Perl Look out for more information on 'Bottled Out Of Eden' & tour dates in the coming months!

Santigold Shares “Chasing Shadows” Video

[image error] Shares  “Chasing Shadows” Video
Track Produced by Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend
[image error]
Watch “Chasing Shadows”: Tidal.com
“Chasing Shadows” infomercial: Santigold.com
Santigold is kicking off 2016 by sharing a new track and accompanying video, “Chasing Shadows,” from her third album  99¢  due out February 26th via Atlantic Records.  Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij produced the track, which also features backing vocals from the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. “ ‘Chasing Shadows’ is about with the conflicted reality of an artist's life. Caught in the web we spin around ourselves, a mixture of hubris and the guise of perfection, we fear being swallowed up by our own ambition. Never in the moment, as quickly as we reach our goals, our gaze shifts to those still looming in the distance. We judge ourselves harshly for not being further on the path and revel in the anxiety of racing the rate of consumption. The lyrics weigh the value of going against the current to maintain artistic integrity, and the feelings of isolation and vacancy bred by a persona that is always "on" and ready for show,” says Santigold. The lyrics are underscored by Santigold’s rapid-fire vocals. The video, which premiered on Tidal today, was directed by Elliott Lester (Nightingale, Blitz, Love Is the Drug).  Watch it here: http://listen.tidal.com/video/56289048

Tortoise Announce Album Stream and West Coast Tour Dates

U.S. WEST COAST TOUR DATES ADDED

FIRST NEW ALBUM SINCE 2009 OUT JAN. 22ND
ON THRILL JOCKEY RECORDS

“True to form, ‘Gesceap’ is a complex layering of dub, electronica, rock, and jazz that immediately gives your eardrums a pleasant sonic reckoning.”
— Vulture, on ‘Gesceap”

“Of all the possible Tortoises, it’s especially wonderful to have this one back, sitting tall in the saddle.”
— Pitchfork, on “Gesceap”

“Jazz-inflected and imbued with elements of rock, dub, and ambient electronica, their music has, for the better part of 25 years, remained wonderfully inscrutable. The same is true of the band’s forthcoming full-length, The Catastrophist, which might actually be their most weirdly adventurous to date.”

— Stereogum

“The group's first single "Gesceap" embodies how the commissioned suite turned into The Catastrophist as swerving, 8-bit-like synth melodies build over its eight-minute runtime toward a cataclysmic finish.”
— Rolling Stone, on “Gesceap”The revered instrumental group Tortoise have spent 25 years making music that defies description. While they have nodded to dub, rock, jazz, electronica and minimalism throughout their acclaimed and influential album discography, the resulting sounds have always been distinctly their own.

Tortoise will return with the release of their new album,  The Catastrophist , next week. The highly anticipated record has already received praise from the likes of PitchforkVultureStereogumMojo, and Uncut.

Ahead of its release,  The  Guardian has an exclusive advance stream of The Catastrophist which you can listen to below. Recorded at John McEntire's famed Soma Studios, it is an album where moody, synth-swept jams like the opening title track cozy up next to hypnotic, bass-and-beat missives like Shake Hands With Danger, a cover of David Essex’s 1973 radio hit, Rock On, sung by U.S. Maple/Dead Rider’s Todd Rittmann, and the bittersweet soul ballad Yonder Blue, sung by Yo La Tengo’s Georgia Hubley.
