February 19th from Sub Pop So Pitted have premiered a new live video featuring the songs “holding the void” & “the sickness”, from neo, their forthcoming Sub Pop debut. The new visual was directed by Seattle director Ty Ziskis.
Brooklyn Vegan had this to say of the video, “a fitting visual accompaniment to the band's melted sound (see premiere Tuesday, February 2nd).”
So Pitted’s previously announced tour schedule for 2016 spans February 19th in Seattle at Everyday Music and now ends March 20th in Austin for SXSW. Highlights include: February 25th in San Francisco at Noise Pop (at Brick & Mortar Music Hall with The Thermals); and a European tour March 4th-12th. Please find a current list of dates below.
Sub Pop will release neo on CD / LP / DL worldwide on February 19th, 2016. The album, featuring the highlights “rot in hell”, “holding the void”, and “feed me”, was co-produced & mixed by So Pitted & Dylan Wall and recorded at The Old Fire House, Media Lab, Spruce Haus, the band’s practice space and Tastefully Loud in Seattle. neo was also engineered by Wall at Tastefully Loud and mastered by Eric Boulanger at The Bakery in Los Angeles.
So Pitted’s neo is now available for preorder from Sub Pop Mega Mart, iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and Google Play. LP preorders of neo through megamart.subpop.com will receive the limited“Loser”edition on white vinyl. There will also be a time-limited edition T-shirt, hand-bleached by So Pitted, that will be available only during pre-order; also available with LP and CD bundles (during pre-order only).
More about So Pitted’s neo:
These eleven tracks are lean and snarling rebukes, torch songs not in the traditional, unrequited-love sense, but songs thatwilltorch your fucking house down. Screams and howls overtake chants and muttering, equal parts dejection, rejection, and convection, the hot, muggy air circling continuously. It’s fuzzy, angular, throbbing, and pounding, and still, ingrained in the songs by their makers, breathes that catchy quality present in so much of the music they love. Songs like “holding the void,” “rot in hell,” and “woe” crash over and over, turning under themselves like waves, but as the measures tick off, the dog-eared melodies and familiar themes begin to reveal (read more at Sub Pop).
What people have said about So Pitted:
“Ragged, nonlinear, a little dangerous, “rot in hell” was one of the first tracks So Pitted wrote together, and the video is funny and surreal, featuring a friend of the band playing various band members. It feels like being at home at a basement show, ready to hit your head on a low ceiling bringing your amp down the stairs, buzzing with a little bit of nausea and excitement. It burns with the urgency of the music you need to make or you’llcrumple, music you’d be making whether other people heard it or not.” [“rot in hell”] - Impose
“Maddeningly loud, loosely formed, disgusting like a romantic weekend trip down the local sewers.” - DIY
“Snotty, snarling and belligerent.” - Uncut
“It’s grimy and tormented all right, but intent on subverting the many adolescent cliches and connotations that come with grunge.” [“rot in hell”] -The Guardian
“...A raucous, inspiring noise, the buzzsaw melody is matched to wailing feedback - imagine Bikini Kill set against early Mary Chain and you'd probably be in the same ballpark.” [‘rot in hell”] - Clash Music
“...making a name for themselves with a sneery, warped, post-apocalyptic punk sound and wild stage show.” - Brooklyn Vegan
“It’s early in the year to make this sort of claim, but we can say with confidence that in ten months’ time you’ll be looking back onneo as one of 2016’s best debuts, by some distance." - The Skinny
"So Pitted’s set called to mind Metz, Minutemen, Big Black, Pere Ubu, and Nirvana at their wildest" - FLOOD
“So Pitted are poised to start a riot that’s very much their own.” - Record Collector
"[A] Seattle trio who are basically unmatched in terms of sheer gonzo ingenuity. Live, the band combines anarchic heaps of guitar and childish melodies with plodding, sludgy rhythms. They understand just how powerful their live show is, too” - Portland Mercury
“What’s special and unique about So Pitted is that they not only clench to the demonic punk downpour and logger-heavy rock of the Northwest, but also to the nihilistic musical cannibalism of San Francisco weirdos Chrome and late-'90s San Diego artcoregroups like the VSS and the Gravity Records camp. There’s a caustic demo quality to their sound that’s alien and distorted, liquidated to move units at the Gross Out. It’s not only thorny, horny, and repulsive, but angular, tangled and mangled.” - The Stranger

Transviolet Releases "New Bohemia" Video, Announces SXSW Performances
TRANSVIOLET RELEASES "NEW BOHEMIA" VIDEOVIA MTVU
BAND ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCES AT SXSW, GOVERNOR's BALL AND FIREFLYALSO SELLS OUT ITS FIRST-EVER HEADLINING LONDON SHOW
SINGLE CLIMBS AT ALTERNATIVE RADIO AND CAN BE HEARD IN GOOGLE ANDROID AD CAMPAIGN
Photo credit - Mathew Mickel LOS ANGELES, CA - February 2, 2016 - Epic Records artist Transviolet's official video for "New Bohemia," premiered yesterday on MTV and VEVO and can be seen HERE. It was directed by Welsh feature film and video director Ryan Andrews (Charli XCX, A$AP Ferg, Brooke Candy). With its mystical mood and stunning underwater photography, the clip captures the empowering theme of the track, which Pigeons & Planes praised for its inspiring "take-over-the-world attitude." Neon Goldnoted, "'New Bohemia' feels like the second coming of a new world order as sky-scraping vocals and star-slinging synths collide above." The single, which is climbing quickly at Alternative radio, can be heard in the national advertising campaign for Google Android, which will run through summer 2016. View the spot HERE. "We are equals. We are not our gender, our race, our sexual orientation. We are not our religion, our nationality, or social class. We are equals. We will not fight the wars of our fathers. We will not inherit the hate and fear of things we do not understand. We will not continue the vicious cycle, using violence to stop violence to stop violence. We will not be told that this is just the way things are. We decide what our future looks like. We are the new bohemia," says lead singer Sarah McTaggart about the song. Transviolet will perform at SXSW in March. The band will also play its first headlining show in London on February 10 - a sold-out evening at Hoxton Square - and perform at such festivals as The Governors Ball and Firefly. Purchase tour tickets HERE. Transviolet was formed in New York and is now based in Los Angeles. McTaggart explains their choice of name, noting, "We were sitting around the living room with books on mythology and poetry one day, determined to pick a band name (as this had been no easy task for us). Judah came across this poem by Charles Bukowski called 'When The Violets Roar At The Sun.' It goes, 'They've got us in a cage, ruined of grace and senses, and the heart roars like a lion at what they've done to us...' It spoke to me so plainly about how we (the band) felt about the world, how our own apathy has led us to this haphazard way of existing - devoid of reason or purpose, just fumbling around the streets with our heads in our phones, passively falling into the future without any real stake in it. We want to be active in designing our future. We believe that our generation can learn to live mindfully, and peacefully and evolve, thus 'trans' as in short for 'transcendence'. To sum it up, Transviolet is transcendence into a new, violet awareness. We loved that idea, so it stuck." The band released a self-titled EP last fall and closed out 2015 with one million Spotify listeners, who played a staggering 20 years' worth of the band's songs. Transviolet is currently recording its full-length debut album in Los Angeles, CA. "New Bohemia" plus two other songs from the EP - "Girls Your Age" and "Bloodstream" - have all ranked in Hype Machine's Top 5 and climbed into the Top 15 (or higher) on Spotify's Global Viral charts. Hilly Dilly hailed "Girls Your Age" as "one of the best debut tracks of the year for any band across any genre" and Noisey praised it as "spaciously sexy." DJ Zane Lowe premiered "Bloodstream" on his Beats 1 show. Other Transviolet fans include Katy Perry, Harry Styles, Ellie Goulding and Twin Shadow (who did a remix of their song "Girls Your Age"). NYLON named Transviolet as its "band crush" in this feature and the UK's Wonderland Magazineprofiled the quartet in this piece. Teen Vogue singled them out as a key new artist to watch and The Guardian recently spotlighted Transviolet as its "new band of the week," observing, "Channeling their inner David Bowie, the US electropop four-piece offer up a rallying cry to the young and the renegade." Fela Ransome Kuti is best known as the revolutionary pioneer of Afrobeat music. Born in 1938, Kuti spent his life as a trailblazer creating incendiary music and furthering radical politics. At the beginning of his musical career in the early '60s, Kuti formed his first band, Koola Lobitos. Koola Lobitos were the first expression of Kuti's incredible talent, the start of his musical evolution that led to the Afrobeat movement. As such, Knitting Factory Records is reissuing Highlife-Jazz and Afro-Soul (1963-1969), a collection of recordings that provide unique insight into the beginnings of Kuti's craft. This three-disc set lays bare Kuti's genius experimentation, honing his instincts while trying out new styles and combinations.
The musical style called Highlife first started in Ghana in the early part of the 20th century and spread throughout West Africa over several decades. Highlife melds elements of traditional African music and Jazz into an upbeat, danceable genre. One could understand Kuti's attraction to the mix of Jazz structures, syncopated guitar lines and off-beat drums.
Kuti's Koola Lobitos became a popular dance band in his native Lagos, Nigeria, recording many singles for local labels, Parlophone, Phillips and an album for EMI. The tracks on these recordings evolve from Highlife to soul to hints of what would become Afrobeat. The listener is able to witness the startling evolution of a man intent on finding his own voice and style. The collection encompasses three discs with Disc One focusing on singles, Disc Two on the album recorded for EMI and Disc Three on live and other recordings.
The liner notes, written by Michael E. Veal, Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology at Yale University, point out: "The release of this collection of Fela Ransome-Kuti's pre-Afrobeat music is a major event for fans of both Fela's music and African popular music in general. Many of these recordings...were thought to be lost forever and certainly, were unknown to all but the most fervent Fela enthusiasts. Even these enthusiasts had to endure low fidelity tapes that had been copied over innumerable generations, from original recordings that were not themselves of the highest quality. What little has been known of Fela's highlife period has been largely due to the efforts of Mr. Benson Idonije, Fela's early manager and long-time proponent of his highlife music. With the recordings' sound quality now much improved, this comprehensive collection gives an overview into a period when one of Africa's finest musicians was attempting to find a style of his own. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated record collectors who assembled this compilation, a crucial and fascinating chapter of Fela's career is finally available to African music enthusiasts around the world."
Knitting Factory Records will release the three-disc set on April 8, 2016. Physical pre-order smarturl.it/KoolaCD & iTunes: smarturl.it/KoolaiT

New Misery available worldwide
March 18th from Sub Pop
Cullen Omori has shared “Sour Silk”, a standout from New Misery, his forthcoming Sub Pop debut.
Stereogum had this to say of the track, “Though Omori’s vocals prevail in the forefront of this single, perhaps its most impressive aspect is a backdrop where every component is defined yet bleeds into each other seamlessly. Throughout the entire song, a number of ever-varying guitar parts pan across the plain of his composition, each with its own unique but cohesive sound. Omori constantly adds and subtracts sounds, maintaining his hook without allowing it to go stale. And as soon as you think you’ve pegged his song as smooth and almost psychedelic, Omori adds crunchier, rock-inspired guitar tones plus a goddamn trumpet.
"Remember the scene in Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off where Eddie pretty much combines his entire kitchen in a blender and ends up with a purple sauce that’s somehow delicious? “Sour Silk” is the combination of sounds you weren’t sure could be mixed, blended into a song that sounds both effortless and endlessly faceted (see premiere Tuesday, February 2nd).”
New Misery will be available worldwide on CD / LP / DL/ CASS through Sub Pop Records on March 18th. The album was recorded by Shane Stoneback (Sleigh Bells, Fucked Up, and Vampire Weekend) at the now defunct Treefort Studios, and was mastered by Emily Lazar (Sia, HAIM, Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, and Bjork) at The Lodge.
Omori began working on solo material in early 2014 which has now fully materialized as New Misery, a collection of 11 songs building upon his own musical past while reaching towards the future of what guitar rock could be. His songs marry dark yet blissful pop with vocal melodies and hooks that are at once immediate yet demand to be heard again and again.
Omori’s previously announced 4-week spring tour in support ofNew Misery starts March 24th in Chicago, IL at Lincoln Hall and currently ends April 24th in Toronto, ON at the Horseshoe Tavern. Preceding the tour is a string of midwestern dates this week, beginning February 3rd in Indianapolis at The Hi Fi through February 5th in Champaign, IL at The Accord. Additionally, Cullen will appear at the 2016 edition of SXSW in Austin, Texas. Please find a list of current tour dates below.
You can now pre-order New Misery through Sub Pop Mega Mart,iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Bandcamp. LP pre-ordersthough megamart.subpop.com will receive the limited “Loser” edition on clear vinyl with black, white and gold swirls (while supplies last).
More on Cullen Omori:
“I had this overwhelming feeling that perhaps the apex of my life both as a musician and as an individual would be relegated to five years in my late teens/early 20s,” says Cullen Omori, who was launched into the music industry when the Smith Westerns, who started in high school in Chicago, became fast-rising indie stars. “This fear really forced me to work hard as to not see the Smith Westerns as an end but as a point along a bigger trajectory.”
While New Misery grew out of a difficult personal and professional time for Omori, he says the title reflects “not so much the distress that comes with failure, but the troubles and complexities that come with any type of success. No matter what you get you're going to want more, you're going to want something different. That’s the catch.”
The title track is a dreamy, resonant reflection on these feelings, but is also a guidepost for Omori’s musical evolution. “The song starts slow and then builds with two solos,” he says. “There's the guitar solo which is very much a Smith Westerns thing. The next solo is on the keyboard, which is a shift to a lot of what I’m trying to do.” Synths play a much larger role in Omori’s new music than in the Smith Westerns’ guitar-fueled rock, as do a wide range of influences including Roxy Music, INXS, Spiritualized, Wilco, Garbage, Hall & Oates, Kate Bush, U2, and Sparks. There’s also a more deliberate pop streak, inspired by the top-40 radio that would play while Omori worked at a medical supply company cleaning stretchers and wheelchairs.
“There is so much dirt in hospitals and fuzz and lint and dried blood on these things. We’d clean them down, which in a way is kind of therapeutic, and listen to the radio. Then we'd go back to Adam's (Adam Gil, current live band member) house and record demos for what was to become the skeleton of New Misery. I can’t sit down and say I'm going to write a Sam Smith or an Adele song or whatever. The closest I can get to that is making like this weird hybrid of what I think is a pop song.” The strongest example of this is the new wave-tinged single “Cinnamon,” which Omori describes as “dark pop--it's poppy, it's fast, but it also has all the colors and tones that are kind of dark. It’s self-deprecating, which was kind of where I was at emotionally. That, you know, I could have this poppy song or whatever but I don't think I'm a pop star. I'm closer to thinking I'm a piece of shit than I am a pop star (readmore at Sub Pop).
What people are saying about Cullen Omori:
“Shimmering beauty” [“Cinnamon”/ “New Music of the Day”] -NME
“It's bittersweet, blissful popwithan '80s hue - vocal melodies and hooks that are at once immediate yet demand to be heard again and again. Job well done, Cullen.” [“Cinnamon”] - The 405
“Led by dreamy, glimmering guitars, it takes Smith Westerns’ knack for a poppy hook to the next level.” [“Cinnamon”] -Consequence of Sound

FIDLAR Shares New Music Video For "Why Generation"
FIDLAR SHARES NEW MUSIC VIDEOFOR "WHY GENERATION"
LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 1, 2016 - This morning, FIDLAR shared their new emoji inspired music video for "Why Generation." Watch the clip HERE. Directed by longtime collaborator Ryan Baxley ("Cocaine", "40oz. On Repeat", "West Coast") and animated by Nolan Fabricius, the clip reimagines FIDLAR's notoriously rowdy live show in a world created entirely out of the popular social messaging characters. FIDLAR's sophomore album, Too, was released in September and debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart. Shortly after the record's release, FIDLAR made their late night television debut performing "West Coast" on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Too is available now via Mom + Pop Music HERE. In October, FIDLAR wrapped up a two month sold out U.S. headline tour with a two night hometown stand at the Regent Theater. During that tour, they also performed at Austin City Limits Music Festival, Boston Calling, Riot Fest and Beach Goth. In November, the band embarked on a sold out UK/European tour including a headlining date at London's historic Forum. Starting today, FIDLAR will hit the road for two weeks in Australia and New Zealand, appearing on the St. Jerome's Laneway Festival along with Grimes, Vince Staples, CHVRCHES and others. This summer, FIDLAR will perform at Bonnaroo, Governor's Ball and other festivals in the US, UK and Europe to be announced soon. FIDLAR is Zac Carper (guitars/vocals), Elvis Kuehn (guitars/vocals), Brandon Schwartzel (bass), and Max Kuehn (drums). Since forming in 2009, FIDLAR quickly became one of the Los Angeles music scene's most celebrated live acts thanks to their raucous live shows, which often concluded with the majority of audience members joining the band on-stage. Since formation, the band has toured the world and played with The Pixies, The Hives, Black Lips, OFF!, Jeff The Brotherhood, The Orwells, Wavves, The Delta Spirit and more. Their debut self-titled full-length album was released in the U.S. in January of 2013 and debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, #2 on the Alternative News Artist Chart and was the #1 most added release at CMJ. Rolling Stone immediately called FIDLAR "a band to watch", asserting, "FIDLAR redefines the 'Golden State' skate/garage punk aesthetic for contemporary tastes" and called Too "an excellent second LP." "A classic of potentially generational impact." Q Magazine "Thrashes with abandon and displays a remarkable leap in instrumental maturity." SPIN "The group keeps it's lo-fi, distortion-tinged California odes intact on Too, while aiming a little higher."Entertainment Weekly "The new record doesn't scrimp when it comes to giant hooks or appropriately buzzed-out guitars, but it does add an extra layer to finesse to the band's reliably scrappy songs." Stereogum "A sweet spot between hedonism and poignancy on a multi-layered second album." NME "A more interesting band than 99% of their contemporaries." Consequence of Sound "The band is humming at peak power on its wild new album, Too." LA Times

Santigold (pronounced Sahn-Tee-Gold; Santi like “Monty”, not Santy like “Panty”) has announced a North American spring tour in support of her forthcoming album 99¢ , out on February 26th via Atlantic Records. Acclaimed for her monumental live shows, Santigold is taking it all to the next level in the brand new stage production. There will be a Citi presale on February 2nd at 10 AM for select dates and a Live Nation/Ticketmaster presale on February 3rd at 10 AM. The general on sale will begin on Friday, February 5th at 10 AM. All on sale times are the local time for each venue. Full tour dates below. Tickets available here: http://smarturl.it/SantiTour
Santigold recently shared the audio and video for “Chasing Shadows” from 99¢. Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij produced the track which features backing vocals from the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. The mesmerizing video directed by Elliott Lester, explores the conflicted reality of an artist’s life, touching on themes of ambition and isolation. Watch it here.
Following her last album, Master of My Make Believe, Santigold wanted to explore new corners of her sound and different ways to convey her vision and political commentary. She worked with new collaborators Patrik Berger, Rostam Batmanglij, Hit-Boy, HazeBanga, Justin Raisen, Zeds Dead, ILOVEMAKONNEN, and Sam Dew and longtime cohorts John Hill, Dave Sitek, and Doc McKinney. The result is the bright and big sound of 99¢ that takes the genre-defying fearlessness Santigold has become known for to new places.
Santigold’s sophomore album, Master of My Make Believe, became her first #1 album, topping the Billboard Dance/ Electronic albums chart. She's won an ASCAP Pop Music award (Vanguard Award), and has been nominated for a Q Award, MTV Europe Music Award, and BRIT Award. Her recent brand collaborations include a limited edition make up collection for Smashbox and an accessories collection for Stance.

Florrie - 'Real Love' to release March 25

Today FLORRIE announces her brand new single, 'REAL LOVE' which is due for release on March 25th through Xenomania/Epic Records.
'REAL LOVE' is composed by Florrie and co-written/produced with Joacim Persson (Robyn, Miley Cyrus) in Los Angeles. The track is bold and imaginative and shows Florrie is back stronger than ever to take the pop world by storm.Following a series of independent releases, Florrie recently signed a global deal with Sony Music. Across her independent releases Florrie garnered countless national radio evening plays, including BBC Radio 1, who made her last releases their 'Future Superstar' and 'Next Hype' and called her 'a future pop star'. Florrie's music has been described by NME as 'world-beating pop' and 'dreamy electro pop' by Sunday Times Culture.
Florrie is a thoroughly modern popstar. The British singer, songwriter, drummer, multi-instrumentalist and producer is a completely self-made artist. Florrie is in control of everything from the lyrics in her songs, styling in photo shoots and design of her aesthetic - something that in this day and age is a rare and precious anomaly.
Speaking on 'REAL LOVE', Florrie states, 'This track is the result of a massive culmination of everything I've learnt and been through as an artist over the last 5 years. I remember when we'd sketched it out and laid down some rough vocal takes, I had this massive feeling of excitement because I knew it was a good one; I always get that when I LOVE something I'm working on, it's like I can't quite control it!'
Florrie has spent the past year travelling across both sides of the Atlantic song-writing and working in the studio crafting her long-awaited debut album, writers Florrie has been working with include Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Ellie Goulding), Tim Anderson (Solange, Banks), Mozella (Miley Cyrus, Rihanna) and Joel Little (Lorde, Sam Smith) to name a few.Florrie also managed to find the time to lend her artistic flair to powerhouse H&M as the face of their 'H&M Loves Music' campaign following in the footsteps of the likes of Beyoncé and Rihanna. With fans the world over - Florrie is set to bring her infused brand of electronica pop to festival stages this summer the world over.Florrie will release her album in Autumn 2016.
'Real Love' releases on Friday March 25th through Xenomania/Epic Records.

Updated Tour Dates
February 1st-June 11th
Low has delivered a new video for “Into You,” a standout fromOnes and Sixes, their acclaimed 2015 album. The visual was directed by Jim Burns and Beth Chalmers, and filmed while on location in Glasgow, Scotland.
The directors had this to say of the video: “Inspired by the hypnotic reflections of the River Clyde on the archways beneath Glasgow’s city bridges, this film draws parallels between the power of a single beam of sunlight and the deeply affecting personal experience one feels during Low’s live performance. Despite being part of a crowd, Low’s music invokes within you a profound and unique individual perspective.”
Watch: https://youtu.be/wgp6ZnNsw5g
Low’s 2016 tour schedule in support of Ones and Sixes is underway with a show tonight, February 1st in Philadelphia, PA at Johnny Brenda’s and runs through June 11th in Kværndrup, DK at Heartland Festival. New tour highlights include a tour of Australia and New Zealand from April 1st-9th. For up-to-date information on tickets please visit http://chairkickers.com/shows.
Ones and Sixes has garnered year-end praise from the likes ofNPR Music (50 Best Albums and “Readers Poll”), Music OMH(#10), MOJO (#13), Drowned in Sound (#16), Under The Radar(#24), The Skinny (#28), Uncut (#37), and Village Voice “Pazz & Jop” (#46).
Ones and Sixes earned Low the group’s first-ever U.K. Top 40 album, coming in at #35 on the official albums chart. The album also entered at #68 here in the U.S. on SoundScan’s Top Current Albums charts. Ones and Sixes also peaked at #7 on the CMJTop 200 chart.
Low’s Ones and Sixes is available for purchase from the Sub Pop Mega Mart, iTunes, Amazon, and Bandcamp. Now completely sold-out through megamart.subpop.com, the limited “Loser Edition” of the double-LP on yellow vinyl and packaged in a variant slipcase cover is available from select independent stores and from the band themselves at upcoming tour dates, while supplies last. There are also two new T-shirt designs available atmegamart.subpop.com, both as individual items and as part of CD and LP bundles.
Ones and Sixes, featuring the standouts “No Comprende,” “What Part of Me,” “Into You,” “Gentle,” and “No End,” was co-produced by the band and engineer BJ Burton at Justin Vernon’s April Base Studios in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
What people are saying about Low’s Ones and Sixes:
"It's one thing for Low to have made a rewarding career of spare, dramatic, glacially paced music...It's another to make those ingredients sound so incredibly dynamic; to spend 20-plus years making a dozen albums thateachfeel distinct, and that eachintroduce new ideas, twists and ways to wring drama out of the space between notes…Throughout Ones and Sixes, the Minnesota trio somehow gives weight to airiness as comfort and discord orbit each other like a binary star. But every time the portent threatens to become overbearing — just as the mix of prettiness and heaviness tips a little too far out of alignment — Low punctures it with a burst of cleansing aggression or some pristine, exquisite surprise. Anything to keep us off balance.” [“First Listen”] - NPR Music
“The band's strengths are here in abundance, but they are reimagined, twisted into new shapes and given a visceral intensity that is utterly irresistible.” [9/10] - CLASH
“...Striking a balance between their majestic, slow-moving melancholy and harsher experimental noise.” [4/5] - The Guardian
"One of the most impressive albums of their career" [4/5] - MOJO
“‘What Part of Me,’ with its upbeat percussion, fuzzy guitar textures andsweet harmonized lyrics about relationship boundaries (‘What part of me don't you own?’), feels like a sideways response to the post-1989 maximalism of today's Top 40; "Into You" is a gospel-inflected, subtly sexy slow jam; and "The Innocents" sets accusatory vocals over a crunching electro-industrial beat, all to excellent effect. Elsewhere, on the gentle, pained duet "Lies," Low remind us they're still masters of doing a lot with a little.” - Rolling Stone
"Ones and Sixes is all at once beautiful, ugly, tense, warm, inviting and repellent. It’s an emotional and sonic juggling act where even the slightest bum-note would draw attention to itself. As always with Low, the beauty is all about the details" - Pitchfork
‘Ones and Sixes is an ear-pricking listen.’ [Album of the Week] - The Observer
"Beautiful desolation....coolly exhilarating" [4/5] - Q
“Ones and Sixes finds them producing some of their best work in years" - The Quietus
“It’sanothersubtly heart-rending effort from a band that remains one of the very finest in the
world. If you needed a reminder of why Low are an institution then this is it.” [8/10] - Drowned in Sound
"Somehow, with each new release (and they come regularly, every two or three years), Low manage to find new ways of protracting their deceptively beautiful melodies." [4.5/5] - Music OMH
“Ones and Sixes hinges on tension that courses throughout these 12 songs. The drums land with a thud, as if transferred from modern R&B and hip-hop. They anchor songs that crackle with bits of distortion and chiming guitars that somehow feel disembodied from everything surrounding them. Then, in keeping with a signature Low move, there is the spectral spark created by Parker and Sparhawk singing together; their alchemy is otherworldly and downright intoxicating.” - Boston Globe
“With Ones and Sixes they’ve pulled together many of their disparate sides in a masterful survey of what makes them one of the great rock bands of their era.” - Dusted
“Ones and Sixes sees Low churning out some of their most accessible work, with “What Part of Me” having the potential to be an unlikely hit. As ever, strong stuff in every way.” [4/5] - Record Collector
“Low’s always been good at making records where it sounds like every note and beat contains some degree of pain and hope you’ve felt.Sohopefully it’s compelling when this one stands out even more as one of their best.” [8.1 /10] - PASTE
“Low remain as vital as ever" - DIY
"After two decades, a band that could easily feel part of the wallpaper remain hungry to show that you never know what lies beneath" [8/10] - Uncut
"Comfortably ahead of the pop pack" - The Sunday Times
“Masters of transforming emptiness into swelling, sweeping orchestrations of musical and mental noise, Low are truly intense and joyful on their newest exhibition of off-kilter, subterranean pop.” [4/5] - NOW
