"Righteous pure rock" - MTV

“Their tuneful charisma separates them from the legions of garage-rock imitators” - LA Times

Los Angeles-based band The Dead Ships have announced upcoming tour dates with Le Butcherettes. The tour make stops in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and more. The band will also be performing at San Francisco's Noise Pop Festival and Austin's SXSW Music Festival before play at Coachella in April. The Dead Ships' Devlin McCluskey told Buzzbands LA, "This [Coachella confirmation] came out of nowhere. It always seems like there’s some invisible hand working for bands to get to the next level, but we have no label, no booking agent, nothing like that. It’s such a surprise.” He adds, "It feel like 2016 is going to be a really fun year for us.  We’ve just worked and worked and worked and worked. It seems like it might be paying off.”

The Dead Ships are touring in support of their latest release EP 1 which is available now to download oniTunes or BandCamp. The EP was produced by Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canningand marked the first time Canning produced a record for a band he wasn’t a part of, and The Dead Ships made the most of the experience. McCluskey told Consequence Of Sound, "Getting to work with Brendan Canning on your guitar-driven indie rock is like getting to work with Barry Bonds on your steroid regimen (allegedly).” The band reunited with Canning for the follow up to EP 1, a full-length album due later this year.
In the three years since the Dead Ships traded punches at their first living room practice, LA's howling garage rock trio have toured the shadiest parts of the continent, slept on the grimiest couches, and been named one of the city's best live shows (DoLA, Grimy Goods). Balancing feral and soulful, they've most recently released the first of two EPs, produced by Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning, with emotional lead single "Big Quiet" spending 5 weeks at number one on KROQ's Local's Only. From celebrating youthful innocence to comprehending life after tragedy, singer Devlin McCluskey writes songs that are pensive yet upbeat. Building off influences such as The Pixies while maintaining their comparison to The Strokes, The Dead Ships are a reminder that honest guitar rock still has its place in this world - and it's a loud one.

PUSSY RIOT - REVEAL "CHAIKA" ABOUT RUSSIA'S PROSECUTOR-GENERAL YURI CHAIKA

PUSSY RIOT REVEAL A NEW MUSIC VIDEO "CHAIKA" ABOUT THE CORRUPT RUSSIAN PROSECUTOR-GENERAL YURI CHAIKA HERE

DAVID SITEK (
TV ON THE RADIO) PRODUCED THE TRACK "CHAIKA"photo credit: Denis Sinyakov

PUSSY RIOT - "Chaika" (english translation)Be humble, learn to obey, don’t worry about material stuff
Be loyal to those in power, cause power is a gift from God, son
I love Russia
I’m a patriot

Live like a saint with holy simplicity
Don’t eat too much, be humble when you shop
And soon you’ll be all set,
First a deputy, then a district attorney,
Joined the communist party,
Made friends with the oligarchs

I’m a patriot
Straight out of Khabarovsk
And I choose to do business here, not in Europe, where they got gay people,
But in mother Russia, where I live.

Be loyal to those in power, cause power is a gift from God, son
I love Russia
I’m a patriot

Sure it’s nice to vacation in Greece or in Nice
Won't go to Crimea, though, too many power cuts and problems
But if you ask me what I want —
To do business here or over the border? —
I'll tell you that I’m devoted to our old Russian business traditions:
First, the cops will pull you in for questioning
Then it’ll look like an accident, you'll be fed to the fish,
We’ll bury alive anyone you wish,
We’ll find nice jobs in prison for anyone who's too smart
We look out for our own homies, you know —
Friendship, brother, is sacred here
No problem, brother, we’ll get those criminal charges off your butt
Anyone who talks too much will be buried alive
Anyone who fucks around will enjoy time in jail.
I don’t think Navalny or Pavlensky will bother you any more, Vladimir.

Be loyal to those in power, cause power is a gift from God, son
I love Russia
I’m a patriot

Take for instance the boss of the Irkutsk shipyards
He wasn't in line with our interests
That boss didn't want to sell or pay
But the Good Lord always finds a way
A garage, a stool, a rope, late at night
We can gently show the director the light
Our boys get official congratulations
While the poor fellow gets a cut from strangulation

My son wanted a salt mine for Christmas, not a tree
The priest said family values are sacred, oh LordDon’t worry, son
We’ll shut up all our competitors, son
You’ll have your bricks, your ships, and your salt mine
I’m a man of my word.
I told you I’d take care of everything.

Be loyal to those in power, cause power is a gift from God, son
I love Russia
I’m a patriot

But if you ask me —
Is it really time for Russia to expand and invade?
You better believe it is - the more we got of Russia, the more we can milk it.
 I’m a patriot.
And I choose to do business here, not in Europe where they got gay people,
But here in mother Russia, where I live.

And If we’re going to kill and steal
I'll always choose my motherland and I’ll do all that here at home
We’ll get help from DA's in Kaluga and Khabarovsk
Our sweet killers Tsapok and Tsepovyaz have our backs in Krasnodar down south
What we have here is nothing like what they got in Switzerland.
I run the war on corruption here, or, to be precise, I run the corruption here.
 I love Russia,
I’m a patriot
But I could live in Switzerland as well.

And son, if you do worry about material things in life,
Then be loyal to Putin forever, son.
I love Russia
I’m a patriot

Be humble, learn to obey, take care of your material stuff
You wanna get away with murder? — be loyal to your boss
I love Russia
I’m a patriot

Be humble, learn to obey, take care of your material stuff
You wanna get away with murder? — be loyal to your boss
I love Russia

LARRY LEVAN - double compilation 'Genius Of Time' - released March 25th

‘Genius Of Time – Larry Levan’25th March 2016Universal Music Catalogue2 X CD & downloadSleevenotes by DJ and writer Chris Menist
Pre-order the album here.

Larry Levan is an undisputable dance music God whose importance cannot be underestimated.  Devotees lucky enough to witness him in situ and general lovers of divine sounds are hugely inspired by his musical legacy. Even those unaware of the man unwittingly feel his presence, such is his enduring influential reach across the years, hence the title, ‘Genius Of Time’.
Synonymous with creatively-original and emotionally-charged DJ sets at revered NYC club the Paradise Garage, the curatorship of Larry’s sets became known as a genre in itself. This provided the earliest definition of what is now known as garage – the characteristics of which can still be heard in the genre to this day.
As well as being a DJ and industry tastemaker whose selections influenced radio playlists and in turn the national charts, Levan was a pioneering perfectionist in the studio, responsible for classic versions of tracks in which the blueprint for future club sounds was drawn.
‘Genius Of Time’ serves as an ideal compendium of Levan’s work as a remixer and producer. Whether his take on Grace Jones’ huge Compass Point classic ‘Pull Up To The Bumper’, his rolling Instrumental Dub of soul star Smokey Robinson’s ‘And I Don’t Love You’, lesser-known gems like his smoking hot electro re-work of Bert Reid’s ‘Grooving With You’, or the dark ‘n’ sleazy deep house masterpiece ‘Real Love’, the quality of Larry’s work here never dips below the amazing mark.
‘Genius Of Time’ is a cultural history lesson, but also simply a joy to hear, bursting with full-blooded, timeless and life-affirming analogue euphony.

Watch new CAVERN OF ANTI-MATTER video directed by PETER STRICKLAND feat. BRADFORD COX

Cavern Of Anti-Matter unveil Peter Strickland-directed video for ‘liquid gate’ featuring Bradford Cox on vocals
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIPfPQslS-s

"We spoke about working on a film together and about drum machines. I wanted this very electronic soundtrack. Back in the '90s Stereolab's music actually made me rethink film, the way you can use repetition as a building block, in terms of accumulation and modulation. And all these weird juxtapositions, they were always throwing these odd black holes into the middle of their stuff. It was a very different way of doing things, fresh and inspiring.” -  Peter Strickland, the British director of the acclaimed films Berberian Sound Studio and  The Duke Of Burgundy , in an interview with Uncut.
The track ‘liquid gate’ is two minutes of super-melodic vocal pop, and sees Bradford Cox (Deerhunter/Atlas Sound) returning the favour for Tim Gane’s recent keyboard contributions to theFading Frontier album on 4AD.
Tour Dates
·         25 Feb 2016 - Generiq @ le FJT des Oiseaux, Besançon, France·         26 Feb 2016 - Generiq @ Cellier de Clairvaux, Dijon, France·         27 Feb 2016 - Festival La Route Du Rock, St Malo, France·          29 Feb 2016 - The Moth Club, London, UK, tickets ·         01 Mar 2016 - The Paradiso, Amsterdam. Netherlands·         11 Mar 2016 - Kantine am Berghain, Berlin , Germany·         3 Jun 2016 - Primavera Sound Festival, Barcelona, Spain
Praise for ‘void beats/invocation trex’
·         “Just like Stereolab, Cavern of Anti-Matter make complicated geometries look effortless.” - Pitchfork
·         “Voyages into scything death disco, bright Floydian vistas and even ‘60s vocal pop” - Mojo (4/5)
·         “An uber-compelling meld of Kraftwerk/Neu!/Harmonia and early techno” - Shindig!
Cavern Of Anti-Matter are the new band from Tim Gane of the much-loved and much-missedStereolab (a band obsessed over by other musicians from Flying Lotus to Pharrell to Damon Albarn). Tim is now Berlin-based and has formed the new trio with original Stereolab drummer and acclaimed photographer Joe Dilworth, and synth wizard Holger Zapf.
The album void beats/invocation trex is out on 19 February on their own Duophonic label. As well as contributions from Bradford Cox, the albums also features guest appearances by Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3)Jan St. Werner (Mouse On Mars) and Sean O’Hagan (The High Llamas). The band is touring Europe in February and March. This new album is their first widely-distributed release and follows a number of limited edition vinyl releases on different imprints including Ghost Box and Deep Distance.

Think GG Allin was extreme? You don't know the half of it.
GG Allin's exploits are legendary. The music, the shows, the violence, the bodily fluids. But GG Allin was confined to a world where he couldn't fulfill his potential. He punched and kicked at the boundaries, eager for something bigger, something crazier, something much more fucked up. But the real world refused to give him the adventures he needed.
Now, thanks to underground fiction's most talented scumfucs, GG is cast in a series of adventures that truly befit his outlaw spirit. In these pages, GG Allin is a secret agent, engaging in cult-smashing missions in exchange for dirty sex with George and Barbara Bush. He's a shit-eating, spaceship-piloting and time-traveling savior of humanity. He's an orisha, called upon to save prisoners from 'roid rage mutant guards. Crack-Smoking Clown In Low Cut High Tops' "Let's Runaway" Video

LOW CUT HIGH TOPSReveals “Let’s Runaway” Video w. Paste Magazine
Click image above to watch “Lets Run Away” video
Debut Album Eh Whatever Out This Friday!
“Fucking brilliant” – John Richards, KEXP
"Catchy uplifting pop-rock with tons of attitude..." – Rivers Cuomo, Weezer
"[Low Cut High Tops] figured out how to bang the shit out of those strings and project a surprisingly powerful snarling-whine…” – NOISEY
“Do you miss “Float On” era Modest Mouse? Do you like gender ambiguous vocals? Low Cut High Tops will satiate those cravings.”Brightest Young Things

"While the album has already gained comparisons to early Modest Mouse, I’m hearing a lot more Oracular Spectacular era MGMT, only less weed-addled and more coked up."  – Paste Magazine
Seattle’s Low Cut High Tops is the identity of 23-year-old musician and art school dropout, David Burns, who is set to release his debut album Eh, Whatever this Friday.  In anticipation, he shares the self-produced video for “ Let’s Runaway ” today with Paste Magazine .
The gritty video - conceptualized, directed, and produced by Burns - follows a down-on-his-luck, crack-smoking clown as he vacillates between joy and dejection. The symbolism runs deep throughout the clip as Burns explores ideas of who we present ourselves to be vs. who we are with and without our clown makeup on. It’s also just a fantastically catchy tune.
Eh, Whatever is a 10-track collection of swaggering electronic-infused punk rock. Highlighted by hard-hitting bass lines, growling guitars, and Burns’ trademark howl, the album explores things that Burns wishes he would have done.  Recorded in his bedroom, he had a hand in every step of the creative process – writing, recording, producing, mixing, and more.
Before this album, Burns had never made music outside of the computer.  That was actually the whole idea – to create from a place of ignorance. “I’ve never sung before, played guitar, or really recorded any organic instruments. I wanna show people that one person with an unusual voice can make a great rock record all by himself.”
