Alice Bag

He’s So Sorry ” Mini-Film Revealed w/ BUST Magazine
CONTENT WARNING for a graphic depiction of violence.

Self-Titled Solo Debut LP  Out  6/24 on Don Giovanni

Release Show at  The Echo  in LA, 7/2

“Alice Bag is a Latina punk rock pioneer and a product of the same scene that gave us Black Flag
and the Germs.”  Stereogum

“On “No Means No,” she's tapped into an equally youthful sound, finger-wagging about the entitlement that enables rape culture with the kind of spirited humor that bands like Tacocat, T-Rextasy, and Chastity Belt employ as a salve against exploding with rage.”  Pitchfork

"As an author, educator, lifelong badass and the leader of The Bags, among many other bands, she’s been a prolific and guiding light for Chicana punks, and ... she continues that force-of-nature output with fierce songs of protest and massive shredding."  Jezebel

Iconic punk rock feminist, author, educator and musician Alice Bag will release her self-titled solo debut album  Alice Bag June 24 on Don Giovanni RecordsAlice Bag features all original material written by Bag and includes performances by some of her favorite LA-based musicians. As with all of Bag’s artistic endeavours, this album is unabashedly honest and unafraid. With pointed punk prose and earworm riffs, she tackles topics such as date rape, immigration and the increasing power of corporations. Her latest album single “He’s So Sorry” is a call to action for victims of domestic abuse. The mini-film for the girl-group pop infused single premiered with  BUST Magazine  and is available to post/share  HERE .

Statement From Alice Bag
"He's So Sorry" is a song of both urgency and agency.
Nobody should risk their life waiting for an abuser to change their ways.

I grew up around domestic violence, so when a good friend of mine asked me for help and advice, I recognized that she was in an abusive situation. Our conversations inspired this song.

When I was growing up, my father would frequently beat my mother. I would often go to school wondering if my mother would still be alive when I got home. My mother would tell me that she stayed with my father for my sake because I needed to have a mother and a father. It was a different time and a different set of values.

As a child, I hated my father for beating my mother and I felt anger and frustration at my mother's inability to leave. My mother WAS NOT to blame for the abuse - that is unequivocal -  but she did fail to recognize that she had the power to leave the situation. She was tethered by the fear that she wouldn't be able to survive financially and by what I imagine was societal and familial pressure to stay in a dysfunctional marriage.

"We can't get enough of Laurel's folky alt-pop" i-D"Laurel's moodier on the brooding, cinematic 'San Francisco,' which sounds like a cross between early Chris Isaak and Ultraviolence-era Lana Del Rey." -  Idolator  "Laurel is an effective prism around the constantly swirling upbeat nature of the scene...'San Francisco' lets the echoes of silence bounce her vocals but not muddle the instrumental work, melding together seamlessly." -  The 405  "It's when Laurel really lets those pipes loose in the chorus that she breaks through the navel-gazing and proves herself as something potentially main-stage bound." -  DIY  "'San Francisco' is a cavernous, drum-laden alt-pop song with a harmony-heavy chorus" -  SF Weekly  "Laurel does an excellent job with this earthy, honest track" -  Glam Glare  "'San Francisco' is an intense track marked by a nervous gait, heightened by raw drums and the nervous strum of an electric guitar, over which arises itself Laurel's gritty vocals." -  Going Solo  Singer/songwriter/producer Laurel has unveiled her music video for "San Francisco" via  i-D  PRESS HERE  to watch! The Mystery Lights - "Follow Me Home"

LISTEN & SHARE: The Mystery Lights - "Follow Me Home"
"Captivating, (...) firmly rooted in the tradition of Sixties garage and gritty NYC punk." - Rolling Stone

"The Mystery Lights have been making a name for themselves as one of NYC's best garage rock bands, and cetainly as one of the best live shows." - Brooklyn VeganDaptone Records, the world leader in today's soul music is now ready to take on the happenings of the modern rock scene. They present to you, on their newest subsidiary, WICK Records: The Mystery Lights. The band's self-titled debut comes out June 24th, and after wrapping up a European tour, they'll bring their incendiary set to Mercury Lounge in NYC on release day.

They may sound more like some lost outfit from the depths of mid-sixties Texas than a bunch of scruffy kids from the streets of 21st Century Brooklyn, but The Mystery Lights combine relentless enthusiasm and a knack for a hook into an all-action rock 'n roll combo for the here and now.

Last year, the band released their first 45’ on Daptone, including the ridiculously catchy neo-teenbeat number "Too Many Girls" (our protagonist surrounded by a feminine throng he can't control) and the snaking psych-blues of "Too Tough To Bear", featuring the band dragging their squalling guitars deep into swampland.

Though their self-titled debut LP was recorded to 8-track tape at Daptone's legendary House of Soul by Daptone studio superstar Wayne Gordon and mixed by Bosco Mann (Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley), it was the cutting engineer JJ Golden (Ty Segall, The Warlocks, Pissed Jeans) who called it “the hottest record I ever cut.”

Their “In The Studio with The Mystery Lights” video takes a behind-the-scenes look at what took place at Daptone's House of Soul Studio as the band worked to create Wick's inaugural release and what is now a record that deserves to be raved about.

ICE CREAM SHARES "RECEIVER" VIDEO ON BLACKBOOK

'LOVE, ICE CREAM' DEBUT LP OUT NOW VIA BAD ACTORS INC.

Ice Cream - 'Love, Ice Cream'
"NO WAVE, NEW WAVE, WHATEVER YOU CALL IT, ICE CREAM'S DEBUT ALBUM IS EXTREMELY COOL AND FUN SHIT" - NOISEY
WATCH & SHARE: Ice Cream - "Material"
"[Ice Cream] specialize in cold, minimalist tunes which blend live instrumentation with electronics" - THUMP Ice Cream are a Canadian duo making "molecular pop" whose debut LP 'Love, Ice Cream' came out last week on Bad Actors, with   NOISEY  praising it as "a strong intro to the duo's monochrome disco, neither new wave or no wave, but something else entirely."

Today, they shared via BlackBook their newest video for the track "Receiver," which stars Brook Lynn Hytes, Miss Continental 2014-2015._________________________
Ice Cream is the Toronto based musical project of long time friends Carlyn Bezic and Amanda Crist. Since 2014, the duo’s minimal, machine inflected “molecular pop” has been sending icy pulses through Toronto’s underground.

Love, Ice Cream , their debut long-play, was produced by Young Guv (Ben Cook of Fucked Up) and Tony Price in co-ordination with Toronto’s secret weapon engineer Steve Chahley, and is due out now on Bad Actors Inc. Through the meticulous manipulation of Moog synthesizers, bass guitars, and various boom box inflated drum machines, the record finds Ice Cream melting down their acidic brand of oblique funk to its bare essentials.

Collaboration is a key component of Ice Cream’s musical and visual DNA. When they are not staring at mannequins and drum machines in their dimly lit sound laboratory, Crist and Bezic are also known to be two of the Toronto’s most industrious musical allies. As members of rock and roll powerhouse Darlene Shrugg, the Slim Twig band and U.S. Girls (Meghan Remy has been a key visual collaborator since the beginning) the duo’s distinct sonic and visual stylings continue to lend their city’s scene a heavy dose of cool.

BORIS - Pink (Deluxe Edition) - expanded 3xLP box & US tour playing entire album live

BORIS announce 10th anniversary Pinkalbum deluxe reissue, U.S. tour performingPink in its entirety    Hear & share "Are You Ready?" (Soundcloud)
Japanese trio Boris announce the 10th anniversary deluxe reissue of Pink today and premiere one of 9 previously unreleased tracks from the new edition via Pitchfork. See track list below. Hear and share "Are You Ready?" HERE. (Direct Soundcloud.)

Boris will launch a full U.S. headlining tour in July in which they will perform Pink in its entirety. The band's new Sargent House labelmates Earth will play all dates except two in Canada. Please see complete dates below.
Pink, the landmark 2006 album by Boris, which earned widespread critical praise -- including Pitchfork's Top 10 Albums of 2006 -- will be reissued in a deluxe edition this summer to commemorate the album's 10th anniversary.
The deluxe 3xLP box set and 2xCD features an entire album of previously unreleased tracks recorded during the Pink album sessions in 2004-2005. The bonus Forbidden Songs collects 9 tracks of the same hyperactive, accessible and aggressive caliber of the original album, available here for the first time, mixed (with additional editing and arrangement) in 2015 and mastered in January 2016. Like the original U.S. vinyl release, the Pink (Deluxe Edition) LP set has three longer edits of songs that were truncated on the original CD issue ("Farewell", "Pseudo-Bread" and "My Machine"). Otherwise, both the LP and CD versions have the same audio as the 2006 release. And, Pink (Deluxe Edition) also features the artwork of the original Japanese release, made by the band members themselves.
In 2006, Pink was Boris' 10th album and a major breakthrough that earned new fans outside of the underground metal community -- the track "Farewell" was even featured in Jim Jarmusch's classic filmThe Limits of Control. The album landed on countless "best of the year" lists from underground metal sites to mainstream rock magazines. And the praise was certainly well deserved for its more accessible sound and explorations into shoegaze and ambient structures alongside brutal noise, searing psychedelia and apocalyptic doom.
Pink succeeds at what most bands cannot do: swiftly changing styles from song to song, while always sounding distinctly like themselves. The seamless, explosive set of fan favorites from the classic longtime lineup of drummer/vocalist Atsuo, guitarist/vocalist Wata and bassist/guitarist/vocalist Takeshi still sounds as mindblowing as it did a decade ago. And, Forbidden Songs continues with the same unbridled creativity and ferocity. These songs aren't outliers, they're rather more like the director's cut version of the original album.
Boris is now in their 24th year as a band -- 20 years in the classic trio lineup -- and showing no signs of slowing down. They have always demolished expectations of what a band can do musically and aesthetically. And in looking back with Pink (Deluxe Edition), the band's trajectory as experimenters and innovators over subsequent releases becomes even clearer.
Pink (Deluxe Edition) will be available everywhere (excluding Japan) on July 8th on 3xLP box set, 2xCD and download via Sargent House.   BORIS / EARTH / SHITSTORM TOUR 2016:07/22 San Diego, CA @ The Casbah07/23 Phoenix, AZ @ Crescent Ballroom07/25 Dallas, TX @ Trees07/26 Austin, TX @ The Mohawk07/28 Ybor City, FL @ The Orpheum07/29 Orlando, FL @ The Social07/30 Atlanta, GA @ The Masquerade 07/31 Asheville, NC @ The Orange Peel08/01 Nashville, TN @ Third Man Records08/03 Carrboro, NC @ Cat's Cradle08/04 Washington, DC @ 930 Club08/05 Brooklyn, NY @ Warsaw08/06 Philadelphia, PA @ Union Transfer08/07 New Haven, CT @ College Street Music Hall08/09 Boston, MA @ Paradise Rock Club08/10 Montreal, QC @ Bar Le Ritz P.D.B. (no Earth)08/11 Toronto, ON @ Lee's Palace (no Earth)08/12 Cleveland, OH @ Grog Shop08/13 Grand Rapids, MI @ Pyramid Scheme08/14 Chicago, IL @ Metro08/16 Madison, WI @ Majestic Theater08/17 Minneapolis, MN @ Fineline Music Cafe08/18 Lawrence, KS @ Granada Theatre08/19 Denver, CO @ Bluebird Theater08/20 Salt Lake City, UT @ Urban Lounge08/22 Seattle, WA @ Neumo's08/23 Portland, OR @ Wonder Ballroom08/25 San Francisco, CA @ The Fillmore08/26 Los Angeles, CA @ The Regent Theater08/27 Las Vegas, NV @ Hard Rock Hotel - Psycho Las Vegas

YAK Share Video for "Use Somebody" + Album Out Now

 YAK
SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "USE SOMEBODY" FROM DEBUT ALBUM ALAS SALVATION OUT NOW -WATCH HERE
"Need a morning pick me up? Yak, known for a thrilling live show which can include instrument destruction, can give you that jolt of energy. The band spews all its bottled-up energy, anger and frustration into its music." - NPR All Songs Considered
"'Hungry Heart' is a track with soul-crushing, foot-stomping fury that's designed to evoke some kind of visceral reaction, whether positive or negative. In terms of introductions, it's pretty memorable." - Stereogum
"...young London band Yak whose chaotic live shows and dark garagey sound have garnered comparisons to The Birthday Party and The Cramps (also: Thee Oh Sees or Fat White Family)." -Brooklyn Vegan
"The debut of the year so far, make no mistake." - DIY (5/5)
"Rarely short of breath-taking" - Q Magazine
"Raucous psychedelic eruption" - Uncut
Last month London-based trio Yak released their debut album  Alas Salvation , produced by Pulp's Steve Mackey, to a slew of glowing reviews. With Q Magazinedescribing the record as "rarely short of breath-taking" and The Guardian as "like being run over, but in a good way", it seems fitting that the video for Yak's new single 'Use Somebody', directed by Douglas Hart of The Jesus and Mary Chain, features the band in a high-speed, crash-strewn chase around London in a hearse recently purchased by frontman Oli Burslem.
Watch the video for 'Use SomebodyHERE
On the writing of 'Use Somebody', Oli explains:"A few things were happening at the time we wrote it - a Malaysian airline went down and we were listening to Buddy Holly; we were also listening to The Stooges, and Steve Mackay the saxophone player had just died so we revisited a lot of the songs he played on. We realised how much we hadn't gone off those records and how much of an influence they had been on us, so this is maybe a nod to those".
Yak have earned a reputation as one of the UK's most thrilling live bands. Watch this space for U.S. live dates.

Yak are: Oli Burslem (vocals/guitar/organ), Andy Jones (bass/vocals) and Elliot Rawson (drums/vocals).

ABOUT PEACH KELLI POP:PEACH KELLI POP was born in Ottawa, Canada from a little bit of glitter in Allie Hanlon's eye. Fueled by catchy, smart, and spirited rock n' roll ditties, Peach Kelli Pop's first few years quickly established them as a fresh and powerful force. From the beginning, fun, sincerity, and female friendship was at the forefront of the band's ethos, endearing them to girls and guys across North America. It wasn't long before the excitement took the tour trail across the pond and beyond; the band has since tackled 7 US & Canada tours, 2 tours of Europe, and 2 of Japan. People who like to dance hard and sing along have found themselves right at home at any PKP show; live, the band's volume, musical chops, and performance dynamics electrified audiences who weren't sure what to expect from a group of girls. The energy established by the band's inclusive, enthusiastic attitude has become part of the Peach Kelli Pop signature. Musically, PKP's high, stylized harmonies, pop-gold chord progressions, and hi-speed rhythms are a celebration -and continuation- of the best of punk and power-pop.
After being well-supported by talented friends throughout the years, Peach Kelli Pop moved to Los Angeles in 2013. The live band is now an all-female 5-piece in its best lineup yet: Allie Hanlon on rhythm guitar, Alex Edgeworth on lead guitar, sisters Gina Negrini on bass and Sophie Negrini on keys, and the formidable Mindee Jorgensen beating on the drums. Each member of PKP brings something big to the stage - be it her trademark personality or, naturally, her shredding skills- and the rock n' roll zeal they share together is evident to anyone watching. With the past releases of 3 full albums on LP & cassette- not to mention a collection of 7-inches - Peach Kelli Pop is continually looking forward and developing. Recordings that began on the candid and intimate lo-fi spectrum have since matured into a crisper, cleaner, more sophisticated sound. The newest 7-inch Halloween Mask, released on Lauren Records and recorded by Roland Cosio (of Together Pangea and The Moonhearts), is perfect proof of what's to come.
Currently, Peach Kelli Pop is eagerly anticipating their tour in support of Halloween Mask. Their travels will take them to both the US & Canada from May 1st to June 2nd 2016.

[image error]Los Angeles based four-piece Silversun Pickups—which features Brian Aubert (guitar, vocals), Nikki Monninger (bass), Joe Lester (keyboards) andChristopher Guanlao (drums)—confirm new headline dates in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Arizona, Honolulu and more. After last night’s secret show in Seattle the band is adding an additional acoustic secret set in New York City on June 16. You can win tickets to the event via Sofar Sounds HERE and stream the upcoming set live at Facebook.com/SilversunPickups. See below for complete tour dates.
In addition, Silversun Pickups discuss the making of their latest record,  Better Nature , as well as starting their own record label in a Scott Weintrob directed mini documentary. The film is a story about friendship, independence and the making of a record. The video can be purchased via Vimeo on demandat http://vimeo.com/ondemand/silversunpickups.Recently, the official music video for “Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)” premiered onStereogum. Of the track, Stereogum says it’s, “a healthy dose of melodrama, smoke, and glitter, the band shows off their ability to produce visuals to match their high-energy dream-pop sound.” The song is the latest single off  Better Nature , out now on New Machine Recordings. Watch the video here: http://bit.ly/1U7XRPc.

“Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)” features a duet between lead singer Brian Aubert and bassist Nikki Monninger. Lead vocalist Brian Aubert explains, “I wrote the music for this song but Nikki wrote the lyrics to it. It’s really an homage to a friend of hers that passed away recently. I think it’s the first time Nikki wrote most of the lyrics. We knew we were going to do this duet together and I really knew she had something going on that needed to come out and I’m happy this was the vessel for it.”

The band’s critically acclaimed album, Better Nature, is available now via the band’s newly formed label New Machine Recordings. Under The Radar calls the album “...as propulsive and arena-ready as ever” while the LA Times says it “has a clarity and inventiveness that’s rare for a big band a decade into its career.”

Better Nature is Silversun Pickups’ first new album in more than three years and was produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles), with whom they collaborated on 2012’s Neck Of The Woods. The album was mixed by Grammy award-winning engineer Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Royal Blood).

In August, the band released the first single “ Nightlight ,” which was accompanied by a hallucinatory music film written and directed by legendary filmmaker Mark Pellington (Arlington RoadThe Mothman Prophecies, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam). “Nightlight,” which Absolute Punk called “one of the most deliriously catchy and undeniably immediate songs Silversun has made in their careers,” reached Top 5 on the Billboard and Alternative Radio Charts.
