SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "USE SOMEBODY" FROM DEBUT ALBUM ALAS SALVATION OUT NOW -WATCH HERE
"Need a morning pick me up? Yak, known for a thrilling live show which can include instrument destruction, can give you that jolt of energy. The band spews all its bottled-up energy, anger and frustration into its music." - NPR All Songs Considered
"'Hungry Heart' is a track with soul-crushing, foot-stomping fury that's designed to evoke some kind of visceral reaction, whether positive or negative. In terms of introductions, it's pretty memorable." - Stereogum
"...young London band Yak whose chaotic live shows and dark garagey sound have garnered comparisons to The Birthday Party and The Cramps (also: Thee Oh Sees or Fat White Family)." -Brooklyn Vegan
"The debut of the year so far, make no mistake." - DIY (5/5)
"Rarely short of breath-taking" - Q Magazine
"Raucous psychedelic eruption" - Uncut
Last month London-based trio Yak released their debut album  Alas Salvation , produced by Pulp's Steve Mackey, to a slew of glowing reviews. With Q Magazinedescribing the record as "rarely short of breath-taking" and The Guardian as "like being run over, but in a good way", it seems fitting that the video for Yak's new single 'Use Somebody', directed by Douglas Hart of The Jesus and Mary Chain, features the band in a high-speed, crash-strewn chase around London in a hearse recently purchased by frontman Oli Burslem.

On the writing of 'Use Somebody', Oli explains:"A few things were happening at the time we wrote it - a Malaysian airline went down and we were listening to Buddy Holly; we were also listening to The Stooges, and Steve Mackay the saxophone player had just died so we revisited a lot of the songs he played on. We realised how much we hadn't gone off those records and how much of an influence they had been on us, so this is maybe a nod to those".
Yak have earned a reputation as one of the UK's most thrilling live bands. Watch this space for U.S. live dates.

Yak are: Oli Burslem (vocals/guitar/organ), Andy Jones (bass/vocals) and Elliot Rawson (drums/vocals).
