Allah-Las new album “Calico Review” out September 9 on Mexican Summer
ALLAH-LAS’ CALICO REVIEW OUT SEPTEMBER 9 ON MEXICAN SUMMER DEBUT VIDEO FOR SINGLE “FAMOUS PHONE FIGURE” NORTH AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
[image error]Photo credit: Laura-Lynn Petrick “The vintage sounds of Allah-Las combine the harmonies and hooks of the British
Invasion with the atmosphere of a West Coast psychedelic band.”—NPR’s “World Café”
“They consistently deliver impressive performances; their harmonies, guitars,
and percussion are all point-perfect.”—Pitchfork
“Cramming as much guts and passion as possible into three and a half minutes or
less - while burning it’s own path, with brooding, lonesome songs, tightly restrained
surf inflected musings on girls and freedom”— The New Yorker
“Los Angeles garage-rock gurus Allah-Las tap into an alternate reality where the world
is but a California dream. Their crunchy, loose-groovin’ tunes evoke desert trips, motorcycle rides, surf safaris, and casual come-ons dished out by coiffed strangers.”—SPIN
Los Angeles-based Allah-Las will release their highly anticipated new album Calico Review on September 9 via Mexican Summer. The album is now available for pre-order here: http://smarturl.it/CalicoxWebstore. Additionally, the band is debuting the video for their first single from the record “Famous Phone Figure,” directed by Robbie Simon. View and share HERE. Using string instruments and an underlining of a three-note drumming theme, the song revolves around a character sketch of an unknowable woman.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles’ historic Valentine Recording Studio, which had lain dormant since 1979. The studio’s reopening in July 2015 allowed the band to use historic recording equipment including a 1964 Universal Audio 610 soundboard, the same board on which The Beach Boys recorded Pet Sounds. ForCalico Review, Allah-Las experiment with new instrumentation adding viola, harpsichord, Mellotron and theremin to their sound. The twelve tracks on Calico Review demonstrate how the group has pivoted from focusing on specific influences to crafting songs that reflect their own feelings of freedom, grit and melancholy. The result showcases their evolution as songwriters and arrangers.
Allah-Las is composed of Pedrum Siadatian (vocals/lead guitar), Miles Michaud(vocals/rhythm guitar), Matthew Correia (vocals/drum), and Spencer Dunham(vocals/bass). The band was formed in 2008 while three of the members were working at the legendary Amoeba Music record store. “We were all music fans before we were musicians,” says Correia. “We’ve spent a lot of time listening to music, and understanding what works for us and what doesn’t.” Their 2011 self-titled debut was nominated for independent album of the year by the A2IM Libbys. Of the debut, Pitchfork said, “it sounds like an effortlessly wistful batch of starry-eyed, minor-key beauties that gently ruminate on the usual young-guy subjects: sex, freedom, the ways the former can interfere with the latter and vice versa.”
In 2014, their sophomore LP Worship The Sun received critical acclaim from The Los Angeles Times who said the album “…lets the band’s trippy vintage rock absorb all sorts of new Southern California influences. Latin drumming, L.A.’s midcentury avant-garde beach culture and Laurel Canyon harmonies.” LA Weeklyhas noted, “their sound is steeped in the pop sensibilities of The Zombies and The Kinks, laced with Northern Soul, lo-fi funk and the ever-enduring influence of Arthur Lee and Love.”
The band has toured extensively with sold out tours and high profile festival dates throughout North, Central, and South America, Europe, South Africa, Russia, Mexico and Israel. For the upcoming North American dates will have the group, TOPS, supporting in September and October. See below for full tour dates.

“Summer Cannibals got its name from a song by Patti Smith and Fred "Sonic" Smith. Like Patti and Fred, the band does not shy away from tackling big issues in its work.”
— NPR All Songs Considered
“Recent Kill Rock Stars signees Summer Cannibals expertly balance flame-belching Mad Max riffage with lyrics frankly exploring questions of codependence and need.”
— Pitchfork
"The album’s title track is exemplary of that control, with alternating sections of calm and mayhem reminiscent of early Sleater-Kinney. It’s a jagged, blistering three and half minutes of intertwining, rhythmic bass and electric riffs and smashing drums."
— Stereogum
"There are shades of late 90s Sleater-Kinney in the loud-quiet-loud of it all, not least in Boudreaux’s voice, snarling at all the right moments."
— Noisey
"The band’s latest zooms in with a series of robust guitar chugs, sharpening its already metallic edge."
— SPIN
“ ...refine the fuzzy garage-pop of its debut into something sharper, tighter, and much more difficult to shake off.”
— Entertainment Weekly

KANYE WEST ANNOUNCES THE SAINT PABLO TOUR
KANYE WEST ANNOUNCES THE SAINT PABLO TOUR
THE LEGENDARY PERFORMER'S FIRST NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN THREE YEARS, PRODUCED BY LIVE NATION, LAUNCHES ON AUGUST 25
TICKETS ON SALE SATURDAY, JUNE 18 AT LIVENATION.COM
LOS ANGELES (June 14, 2016) – Kanye West – the 22-time Grammy Award winning, visionary multi-disciplinary artist who has sold over 30 Million albums worldwide and has twice been named to Time Magazine ’s 100 most influential people in the world - today unveils details for THE SAINT PABLO TOUR . The North American tour, promoted exclusively by Live Nation, will kick off on August 25 at Banker’s Life Arena in Indianapolis, IN. West will visit nearly 40 cities across the U.S. and Canada including dates in New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Montreal, Detroit, Washington DC, Miami and more.
For the first time, Kanye will bring to life songs from his seventh consecutive #1 album The Life Of Pablo , which made history as the first album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart based on streaming only.
Kanye returns to North American arenas for the first time in three years. 2013’s historic Yeezus Tour saw jubilant, sold-out crowds and unprecedented acclaim. Reviewing the tour opener, the Seattle Times raved "A deific spectacle of a set…a two-hour rap-opera of a performance that was grandiose yet minimal, unsettling yet inspirational...There are very few modern artists with the kind of vision, ambition, and means to execute it as Kanye West right now…a distinct statement of his combined artistic ambition, penchant for excess, and desire to simply outdo every other entertainer out right now." “Awe-inspiring,” said Rolling Stone . “Truly electrifying…The stage as imagined and executed by West was truly something to behold.”
“Brilliant,” raved the New York Post . “The Yeezus tour is more than just a concert. It's an extravaganza of music and theater…a combination which makes him the most fascinating musical figure of our time and makes this tour an unmissable spectacle.”
With Kanye's history-making live performances continuing to innovate the concert experience and set new standards for the visual medium, THE SAINT PABLO TOUR is the most anticipated concert event of the year. Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 18 at www.livenation.com.
American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, June 14 at 10:00 am through Friday, June 17 at 10:00 pm. Continuing its commitment to bring fans closer to their favorite artists, TIDAL members will have access to a special presale beginning on Thursday, June 16th at 10:00 am local time. Members can find details for purchasing tickets by logging in to their TIDAL accounts via web browser, desktop app or mobile app.
Kanye West released his seventh solo album, The Life Of Pablo , to universal critical acclaim. The New York Times , on its front page, declared: “With flux embedded in its DNA, “Pablo” is crisply alive, like water that’s still boiling even though the flame is off. Pay close attention to the multiple iterations and you hear an artist at work…It’s everything bared — process as art.” Rolling Stone raved: “a complex, conflicted masterpiece.” “His devotion to the craft of album-making remains his greatest talent,” Pitchfork mused. “Albums are his legacy…His ability to package hundreds of stray threads into a whole that feels not just thrilling, but inevitable - at this, he is better than everyone.” And USA Today simply asked: “Is Kanye West the greatest artist of the 21st century?”

FIDLAR Collaborates with The Flaming Lips on New Music Video for "Punks", On Tour This Fall

ON TOUR THIS FALL WITH SUPPORT FROM SWMRS AND THE FRIGHTS

Los Angeles, CA - June 14, 2016 - This morning LA quartet FIDLAR shared a new music video for "Punks". Created in collaboration with fellow DIY-minded band The Flaming Lips, the dystopian clip follows a working class protagonist's ill-fated journey to outer space to join an elite group of super chromosome money making power plants. Watch the music video for "Punks" HERE .
FIDLAR was approached by members of The Flaming Lips after spontaneously covering "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Part 1" at a show in Oklahoma City, OK. While hanging out at the band's psychedelic art space "The Womb" after the show, a mutual admiration for each other's DIY music videos lead to the decision to join forces on the clip. The music video for "Punks" was directed and produced by longtime FIDLAR collaborator Ryan Baxley, FIDLAR bassist Brandon Schwartzel, and Flaming Lips collaborators Zachary Ryan Cox, George Salisbury, Tom Hudson, and Travis Pierce.
"Getting to make a video at The Womb using all of The Flaming Lips' resources was a dream come true," offered Schwartzel. "We had their entire warehouse at our disposal and there were always a bunch of 'freaks' hanging around offering to help us make cool stuff. There doesn't seem to be that much to do in Oklahoma City, so if you're a weird art kid, you're probably going to end up hanging out with The Flaming Lips. Something I really like about both of our bands is the preference for friends over professionals. Getting your friends together, giving them a job to do, and then watching them excel at it is super cool," elaborated Schwartzel.
This morning FIDLAR also announced a fall headlining tour of the US with support from SWMRS andThe Frights. The band's "Too Much Tour" will kick off on October 28 in San Diego, CA and wrap on November 22 in Denver, CO. Having produced the 2016 debuts of both support bands, FIDLAR frontman Zac Carper offered, "After spending so much time with these guys in the studio, I can't wait to bring them out on the road. They're like our little brothers. We've got FIDLAR from LA, SWMRS from Oakland, and The Frights from San Diego. We're dragging the whole damn state of California across the country for this one!" Tickets for FIDLAR's Too Much Tour are on sale this Friday 6/17 at 10:00am local time and are available HERE .

FIDLAR's Fall tour is preceded by a handful of performances at various summer festivals in the US including Bonnaroo, Mo Pop Festival, and Lollapalooza. The band will also perform at numerous UK/European festivals including T in the Park, Way Out West, and Oya Festival. The band will also perform headline shows in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Cologne. A complete list of upcoming FIDLAR tour dates can be found HERE .
FIDLAR's sophomore album, Too, was released in September and debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart. Shortly after the record's release, FIDLAR made their late night television debut performing "West Coast" on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Too is available now via Mom + Pop Music HERE .

FIDLAR is Zac Carper (guitars/vocals), Elvis Kuehn (guitars/vocals), Brandon Schwartzel (bass), and Max Kuehn (drums). Since forming in 2009, FIDLAR quickly became one of the Los Angeles music scene's most celebrated live acts thanks to their raucous live shows, which often concluded with the majority of audience members joining the band on-stage. Since formation, the band has toured the world and played with The Pixies, The Hives, Black Lips, OFF!, Jeff The Brotherhood, The Orwells, Wavves, The Delta Spirit and more. Their debut self-titled full-length album was released in the U.S. in January of 2013 and debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, #2 on the Alternative News Artist Chart and was the #1 most added release at CMJ. Rolling Stone immediately called FIDLAR "a band to watch", asserting, "FIDLAR redefines the 'Golden State' skate/garage punk aesthetic for contemporary tastes" and called Too "an excellent second LP."

Methyl Ethel Announces First Major U.S. Tour - 'Oh Inhuman Spectacle' Out Now on 4AD
Methyl Ethel Announces First Major U.S. Tour This Fall, Supporting Preoccupations
Debut album Oh Inhuman Spectacle out now on 4AD
Fresh off a victorious run of dates in the UK and Europe, including appearances at Primavera Sound Festival, The Great Escape and London Calling, Methyl Ethel is pleased to announce their first major tour of North America this fall supporting Preoccupations. The tour will kick off in Calgary on October 1st and highlights include Thalia Hall in Chicago, IL on October 5th, Warsaw in Brooklyn on October 14th and The Roxy in Los Angeles on October 28th. The band will make a quick stop in the U.S. this summer to play Outside Lands and the Denver Underground Music Showcase.
WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "TWILIGHT DRIVING" HERE
Hailing from the remote fringes of Perth, Western Australia, linchpin Jake Webb started Methyl Ethel in 2013 as a way of getting his bedroom recordings out in the public domain. Like 4AD peers Grimes and Bradford Cox (Deerhunter, Atlas Sound), Oh Inhuman Spectacle was crafted in isolation where Webb wrote, played and recorded everything, with fellow Perth residents Thom Stewart (bass) and Chris Wright (drums) recruited to bring the songs to life on stage. The band is currently working on their next record due out in 2017.
Acclaim for Oh Inhuman Spectacle:
"Methyl Ethel makes dream-pop for insomniacs - shadowy, nocturnal music whose surface shimmer barely conceals the fidgety, restless soul lurking underneath." - Pitchfork
"Plays like a brain chemistry experiment gone horribly right." Rolling Stone
"A highly promising debut." - Q
"The group's debut is so meticulously crafted, sweet, and palatable for anyone with good feelings towards the indie pop and rock of the last decade. Whether you're into dream pop, chillwave, or psych, Jake Webb and co. have something for you." Consequence of Sound
"Oh Inhuman Spectacle came together brilliantly." Stereogum
"Methyl Ethel's Jake Webb is a one-man studio band with a gift for psychedelic melodies. The cavernous acoustics at an 8th Street church enhanced his trio's spacy mix, with reverberating guitar and programmed textures undergirding the rhythm section's drive. Webb's high-pitched vocals added to the sense of airiness, with a melancholy undertow." Chicago Tribune
