NOTS unveil new song and detail 'Cosmetic' out on Goner Records September 9
NOTS DETAIL NEW ALBUM COSMETICOUT SEPTEMBER 9 ON GONER RECORDS
SHARE FIRST SINGLE "ENTERTAIN ME"
LIVE DATES ANNOUNCED: RIOT FEST, FL PLUS MORE

Album Artwork: Natalie Hoffman
LISTEN/ SHARE: "ENTERTAIN ME" VIA SOUNDCLOUD HERE
Memphis' NOTS are back with their second full length statement. Cosmetic fearlessly attacks the rough edges between desire, deceit, appearance and reality. Not chanting down Babylon, Natalie Hoffman screams straight into its face. In this Game Of Death, NOTS run through the maze of mirrors with sledgehammers. Oh, the sound of mirrors smashing. Let's smash some more.
Today NOTS hit us with Cosmetic 's first ripper that comes in at seven minutes.Stereogum debuted "Entertain Me" calling it "epic" and "every moment...essential". NOTS' Natalie Hoffman details "Entertain Me": "'Entertain Me' is a song in a constant state of movement and deterioration around one central, repeating part. No two live versions of it sound the same. Drawing influences from experimental no wave, postpunk, and psychedelic music, 'Entertain Me' takes its cues from the edges of genres, where one begins to blend into another, and nothing is easily classified. The lyrics reflect the cyclical, distorted nature of the song, addressing different facets of the grotesque horror show going on in American politics and how they are portrayed- the rise of Trump, the reality-TV-like nature of American news, the almost-forced compliance of the viewer, and the for-profit-constructed "right" of the viewer, the consumer, to require constant entertainment in order to participate, and to live." NOTS are still a wild guitar band, but above and below the guitar, bass and drum pound, Alexandra Eastburn's analog synth blurps melodies and nonsense, teasing squiggles of freedom which defy the false grid of modern life. Cosmetic? Emetic? "Monotone Lust" indeed. With Hoffman on guitar and vocals, Eastburn on synth, Charlotte Watson beating drums, and Meredith Lones steering a solid path through the chaos on bass, NOTS are neither content with the smug "stare at your shoes" approach of bands from both coasts, nor an Earth-hugging "we need to get back to nature" hippie copout. There might not be any answers here. That might be the point. NOTS have arrived at the next level of their attack with a confidence and a music that lays waste to the wasteland without romantic attachment to a thing.

Lydia Loveless confirms additional tour dates with Drive-By Truckers + new album Real due August 19th
LYDIA LOVELESS CONFIRMS ADDITIONAL TOUR DATES WITH DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS
NEW ALBUM REAL DUE AUGUST 19
LEAD SINGLE “LONGER”
PREMIERES ON STEREOGUM
[image error]
“Uncompromising and direct, Loveless is one of those rare songwriting voices that seem destined to be sharing music with us for a long, long time.”—Paste Magazine
“Loveless has carved out an unmistakable voice as a songwriter, and she’s only getting better at using it to blur the line between running her mouth and pouring out her heart.”—Stereogum
“Bittersweet lyrics and a bruised but indomitable voice. She doesn’t write conventional tunes; even her love songs arrive with a twist.”—Greg Kot (Sound Opinions, The Chicago Tribune)
In support of her forthcoming album Lydia Loveless confirms additional tour dates this fall withDrive-By Truckers. The dates extend Loveless’ ongoing North American tour with stops in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Minneapolis and more. See below for complete tour dates.
Loveless’ highly anticipated new album, Real , will be released August 19 via Bloodshot Records (https://www.bloodshotrecords.com/album/real). This record follows the release ofSomewhere Else, which Rolling Stone praised as “…an aching, lusty set of twang and sneer wrapped in electric guitar swagger,” while Pitchfork furthered “Somewhere Else [is] both a bracing and a deeply harrowing listen.” Additionally, “Longer,” the first track to be revealed from Real, recently premiered on Stereogum. Of the song Stereogum says, “It’s like the Replacements soundtracking the sad aftermath of Big Star’s “Thirteen”—which is to say, it’s awesome.” Listen here: http://bit.ly/1Vw5aBR.
Real was recorded at Sonic Lounge Studios in her home state of Ohio and was engineered and produced by Joe Viers (Dr. John, Twenty One Pilots). “I chose to work with Joe Viers, engineer and producer of my last three releases, again because I trust him completely not only with my music but with my words,” said Loveless. “There was a lot to say this time around and I wanted to return to that sort of playground and (sometimes literally) throw things at the wall. Whereas our previous records could be described as blunt or raw, this one I wanted to be known as honest, as true, as real (rimshot).”Of the album Loveless says, “Because I feel like I spent my formative years flopping around like a fish, masking pain with substance abuse and somewhat ashamed of who I was—a hayseed, a phony, I felt—it was absolutely necessary for me to become a stronger, more confident human, or I was going to die. Real is my sort of love letter to that realization, that my existence was just as valid as any other.”
Loveless is joined on the album by Todd May (vocals, guitars, keys), Ben Lamb (bass), Jay Gasper (guitars, pedal steel, keys), George Hondroulis (drums, percussion, keys), Andy Harrison (guitar, keys) and Viers (percussion, guitar).
In 2011 Loveless released her second full-length album, Indestructible Machine, about whichThe Chicago Tribune says, “she conveys toughness, tenderness and humor with off-handed conviction.” Two years after the critical success of her breakout second record, Loveless released Somewhere Else. On Somewhere Else Loveless is less concerned with chasing approval—she scrapped an entire album’s worth of material—and more focused on fighting personal battles of longing, heartbreak and the aesthetic that comes along with them.

Band of Skulls on "Late Night with Seth Meyers"!
BAND OF SKULLS PERFORM ON“LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS”
BY DEFAULT RELEASED TO CRITICAL ACCLAIM
NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR CONFIRMED
[image error]Photo credit: Andy Cotterill
Band of Skulls appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last night to perform their single “ Bodies ” as well as “ Killer .” The band continues to celebrate the release of their latest album By Default , out now on BMG. The official video for “Bodies” can be streamed/shared here: https://BoS.lnk.to/BodiesVevo.
By Default is receiving widespread critical acclaim both stateside and abroad: “Band of Skulls rip and roar, the song a wily mix of clashing guitars, vocals that both rocket high and dip low, and a fierce chorus that is the sonic equivalent of being stared down by some imposing authority. Think a savage hybrid of Modest Mouseand Jack White.”—Consequence of Sound “…each song packs a punch…they've always had a certain swagger in their music but here you can really feel an authority and confidence…”—The Independent
“I hear a new attitude behind it…shows them sharpening their sound.”—KCRW “A crisp return.”—Clash
“Band of Skulls have delivered a gorgeous album, a beautiful combination of blues, indie and rock…By Default is, start to finish, a no lose situation.”—MXDWN To further support the release, Band of Skulls has confirmed North American dates this fall. The tour will kick off September 6 at Boston’s Royale and will make stops at Chicago’s Metro, San Francisco’s The Fillmore, Los Angeles’ Wiltern and New York City’s Terminal 5 among many others. Produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Patti Smith) and recorded at Rockfield Studios, By Default finds the band—Emma Richardson (bass, vocals), Russell Marsden (guitar, vocals) and Matt Hayward (drums)—following up on their acclaimed 2014 release, Himalayan, by making a conscious decision to take a step back from their relentless world-wide touring schedule, having never spent more than a month off the road in the last two years. “We went back to square one,” says Hayward. In the church—between visits from the vicar, bringing tea and biscuits on his trolley—they found the new songs in hours of woodshedding on ratty old practice amps. “It’s definitely a new era,” says Marsden. “The first three records were like a trilogy, a piece of work in of themselves. We wanted to do those things, and we did them all. We took a breath, took a look at what we’d done, and started from scratch again.” [image error] BAND OF SKULLS LIVESeptember 6—Boston, MA—RoyaleSeptember 7—Montreal, QC—Corona TheatreSeptember 8—Toronto, ON—The Opera HouseSeptember 9—Columbus, OH—Skully’s Music DinerSeptember 10—Chicago, IL—MetroSeptember 11—Minneapolis, MN—Fine Line Music CaféSeptember 13—Denver, CO—Gothic TheatreSeptember 14—Salt Lake City, UT—Urban LoungeSeptember 15-18—Victoria, BC—RifflandiaSeptember 16—Vancouver, BC—The Vogue TheatreSeptember 18—Seattle, WA—The ShowboxSeptember 19—Portland, OR—Revolution HallSeptember 21—San Francisco, CA—FillmoreSeptember 23—Los Angeles, CA—WilternSeptember 23-25—Las Vegas, NV—Life is BeautifulSeptember 24—Solana Beach, CA—Belly UpSeptember 26—Tucson, AZ—Rialto TheatreSeptember 28—Austin, TX—Antone’sSeptember 29—Dallas, TX—TreesSeptember 30—Memphis, TN—Minglewood HallOctober 1—Nashville, TN—Exit/InOctober 2—Atlanta, GA—Terminal WestOctober 3—Durham, NC—Motorco Music HallOctober 4—Washington DC—Black CatOctober 6—New York, NY—Terminal 5October 7—Philadelphia, PA—Union Transfer By Default Available Now:iTunes: http://smarturl.it/ByDefaultITAmazon CD: http://smarturl.it/ByDefaultCDAmazon Vinyl: http://smarturl.it/ByDefaultLP http://www.bandofskulls.com/

+ Nylon's "New Punk Bands You Should Listen To"+ Tour dates with Tacocat this July

► stream and share with your readers now Perfectly imperfect - that’s one way to describe LA based punk act, The Regrettes. Writing songs that proudly bear a brazen and unabashed attitude in the vein of acts Courtney Barnett or Karen O - with a pop aesthetic reminiscent of 50’s and 60’s acts a la the Temptations or Buddy Holly - the LA based four piece create infectious, punk driven tracks.
Lead by outspoken frontwoman, Lydia Night, and comprised of Genessa Gariano on guitar, Sage Nicole on bass and drummer Maxx Morando, the group have left the LA rock scene floored, managing to capture the hearts of jaded rock critics while opening for acts like Kate Nash, Jack Off Jill, Bleached, Pins, Deep Vally and more. With nothing but demos available online, the group are already beginning to generate hype, from outlets like NPR, and with NYLON already heralding them them as a “punk act you should be listening to”.
From the opening moments on a track by The Regrettes, we’re greeted with a wall of guitars, infectious melodies and a wistful nostalgia that continues right until the final notes. Taking cues from acts like Hinds and Hole, there’s a wistful sense of youth and vulnerability that lies at the heart of each song.
A song by The Regrettes is, essentially, a diary entry into Lydia’s life. “My music is a spectrum of every emotion that I have felt in the last year, and you can hear that when you hear the songs. Everything that is happening in my life influences me. It’s everything from boys, to friends, to being pissed off at people, to being really sad. Just everything.”
The most intoxicating draw of The Regrettes is their bashful, heart-on-your-sleeve temperament - writing urgent and fast-paced pop songs with a punk rock mentality. “The way that we write, it’s all based on honesty,” muses Lydia on the group’s punk aesthetic. “If I finish a song, I’ll just leave it - I won’t really go back to it. I like things to feel in the moment and I don’t want it to be perfect. If I work on something too much I lose it and get bored and I want to do the next one..”
First song, “A Living Human Girl,” best showcases the vulnerability of the group’s lyrics. Singing about a less than perfect complexion, a bra size that is considered smaller than most, and those little red bumps you get when you shave, The Regrettes aren’t afraid to embrace their imperfections. “Sometimes I’m pretty and sometimes I’m not”, sings Lydia over 60’s inspired guitar riffs and a kicked back drum beat. “I don’t remember exactly what sparked it, but I remember when I wrote those lyrics, I was just really angry.”
“There are times when you feel really insecure and you really don’t like yourself, so I wrote it for people who feel that and I wrote it for myself. I just felt like there wasn’t a song like that out there. A song that if I was feeling super shitty about myself, that I could listen to. I wanted something that would make girls and boys feel confident,” she explains.
Lydia’s not afraid to have her feelings on display. “I am not scared of anyone judging me, I don’t care. I don’t give a fuck if someone doesn’t like what I have to say. For every person that likes you, there’s a person that doesn’t like you. No matter what, if people can relate to the music then it’s worth it. That’s what is cool for me.” And at the end of the day, isn’t that what punk music is all about? Tour Dates:with Tacocat7/15 San Francisco, CA - Bottom of the Hill (tix)

Psychic TV Detail New Album Alienist
Reissuing Force The Hand of Chance, Psychic TV's First Studio AlbumOut on Angry Love Productions August 18
Live Dates Announced: SF, NYC, Chicago, LA, PDX and More
Genesis Breyer P-Orridge Stars in Marc Jacobs' Fall Campaign

Psychic TV Detail New Album Alienist Alienist includes two original tracks: the haunting yet emotional "I'm Looking For You"; an epic, multi-layered, metaphysical exploration in the form of a conversation between Genesis and "Lucifer", who is in hiding after his failed rebellion is over, and the title track"Alienist" which is a delightful fusion of dance grooves harking back to PTV's Acid House days and the group's current love of heavy psychedelic rock.
On a European tour in 2009, Genesis proposed the band perform the classic "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic as a musical interlude. After the tour, the band went into the studio to give a try at a recorded interpretation of the song. The result was astounding and the band set forth on a series of 12" records, yearly interpreting a rock classic and then offering a new song on the B side. Mostly chosen by drummer and co-producer Edley ODowd, songs have previously included "Silver Machine" by Hawkwind, "Mother Sky" by Can and "Dropout Boogie" by Captain Beefheart.
Alienist continues Psychic TV's fascination of reinterpreting contemporary rock classics. This time tackling "Jump Into The Fire" by the late Harry Nilsson as well as Genesis' teenage favorite "How Does It Feel To Feel" by '60s British psychedelic rockers, The Creation.
Alienist is the follow-up to 2014's highly acclaimed Snakes which in part, explored Genesis Breyer P-Orridge's foray into African Vodoun culture, the title track of which will be used in the forthcoming documentary Bight Of The Twin , which focuses on Genesis' explorations in Benin, Africa.
Random recycled colored vinyl LPs will be distributed in the U.S. by Forced Exposure and available digitally on all online retailers via Dais Records on September 16.
Psychic TV Reissue Force The Hand of ChanceAngry Love Productions presents the official reissue of the first studio album Force The Hand Of Chance by Psychic TV - back on vinyl for the first time in over 25 years. Cut from the original masters in the WEA UK vaults, this will be a limited edition pressing of only 1000 copies. Forced Exposure will be exclusively distributing 700 standard copies while the Genesis P-Orridge webstore offers an exclusive deluxe edition of 300 available by mail order only.
Force The Hand of Chance remains one of Psychic TV's most seminal albums boasting classic tracks such as "Just Drifting", "Ov Power" as well as a vocal feature by Soft Cell's Marc Almond on the haunting "Guiltless". The reissue will be available in stores August 18.

The Mystery Lights' self-titled album is coming out this Friday June 24th on Daptone Records’ new rock subsidiary, Wick Records.
Yesterday, Brooklyn Vegan premiered the full record, saying that "Garage-psych bands may be a dime a dozen, but The Mystery Lights prove themselves worthy NYC successors to the likes of The Fleshtones, as this LP shows."
NPR's David Dye featured two tracks from the upcoming album on his 'World Cafe: Next' weekly segment, praising the Lights who "combine the aesthetic of [New York]'s downtown dwellers (like The Velvet Underground) with a present-day urgency."
Pitchfork also shared their love for the track "Follow Me Home," saying that "there's a stoned, analog atmosphere hanging over everything, but there's a fire and toughness, too. [Mike] Brandon, like Charles Bradley and Sharon Jones before him, performs with a power and vigor that keeps him undeniable."
After a killer set at Burger Beach Bash, the band will be throwing their record release show at Mercury Lounge in NYC on June 24th. They'll also perform in-store at Rough Trade the next day June 25th. Not long after, the traction will continue to build as they set off on a recently announced US tour, both on the east coast and west coast, which includes dates as direct support for Nights Beats.
Their “In The Studio with The Mystery Lights” video takes a behind-the-scenes look at what took place at Daptone's House of Soul Studio as the band worked to create Wick's inaugural release and what is now a record that deserves to be raved about.
About the band:
Mike Brandon and L.A. Solano have been in many different versions of The Mystery Lights under assorted monikers since their teens. In a heroic jump from the small town of Salinas, California to NYC, the band solidified its lineup to also include Alex Amini, Kevin Harris, and Noah Kohll.
The explosive live shows gradually became the stuff of legend, as the quintet won their following one fan at a time in dives from Brooklyn to the Bowery. Organically unfolding over the nights months and years, the Lights’ sound has evolved into a fuzz-fueled hopped-up 21st Century take on 60s garage pebbles, and artful 70s punk, that is all their own. 2016 finds these rock’n’roll knights embarking upon the next logical step - unleashing their own brand of kick out the jams on tour and in the studio.
When Daptone Records launched their Wick Records rock imprint, they wasted no time approaching Mystery Lights as their inaugural act. Hot on the heels of the "Too Many Girls"/"Too Tough To Bear" single, Wick officially rolls out the Mystery Lights’ debut LP, recorded at Daptone Records' House of Soul studio, on June 24.

The album was co-produced & mixed by So Pitted & Dylan Wall and recorded at The Old Fire House, Media Lab, Spruce Haus, the band’s practice space and Tastefully Loud in Seattle. neo was also engineered by Wall at Tastefully Loud and mastered by Eric Boulanger at The Bakery in Los Angeles.

What people have said about So Pitted:
“...making a name for themselves with a sneery, warped, post-apocalyptic punk sound and wild stage show.” - Brooklyn Vegan
“…Buzzing with nausea and excitement. [rot in hell] burns with the urgency of the music you need to make or you’ll crumple, music you’d be making whether other people heard it or not.” - Impose
“So Pitted are poised to start a riot that’s very much their own.” - Record Collector
“The triad has haunted Seattle’s DIY underground since 2010, sometimes playing three shows a week (seemingly re-dying their hair a different color for each), honing an incredibly loud, atonal style of neo-grunge, equal parts confusing and enthralling. Koewler plays her guitar through a bass amp to achieve the band’s defining metallic low-end scuzz. Rodriguez, plucking out chaotic leads on his heavily effected guitar, barks unintelligibly feral screeds into a microphone so hard that his veins often look as though they’ll pop. Downey usually performs with self-fashioned pipe-cleaner antennae sticking out from his head. He occasionally switches places with Rodriguez to mumble his own strange songs, a left-field take on ’80s New Wave filtered through a filthy meat grinder.” - Seattle Weekly
“Boldly going where no rock band has gone before—and fucking around a bit, too.” [“Breaking” feature] - FLOOD
