Third Man Records unleashes Wolf Eyes new video
WOLF EYES UNLEASH "T.O.D.D."
PROVOCATIVE MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTED BY WILL BENEDICT WITH STEFFEN JØRGENSEN VIDEO TO BE INCLUDED AT 9TH BERLIN BIENNALE FOR CONTEMPRARY ART YOUTUBE PREMIERE FOLLOWS FIRST (AND LAST) TRIP METAL FEST I AM A PROBLEM: MIND IN PIECES AVAILABLE NOW FROM THIRD MAN
Third Man recording group Wolf Eyes have unleashed a brilliantly barmy new music video for "T.O.D.D.," featured on the venerable band's acclaimed 2015 label debut, I AM A PROBLEM: MIND IN PIECES. The video is streaming now at the official Third Man YouTube channel. "T.O.D.D." is directed by Paris-based artist/filmmaker Will Benedict, in collaboration with Copenhagen-based artist Steffen Jørgensen. The music video - in which an alien discusses issues surrounding assimilation in an extra global context while drawing parallels with Europe's current migrant crisis with television talk show host Charlie Rose - will be included at the 9th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, curated by New York-based collective DIS and continuing through the summer. Founded two decades ago in Ann Arbor, Wolf Eyes recently headlined the first (and last) Trip Metal Fest, a remarkable Detroit gathering of experimental artists, noise rockers, and sonic improvisers. The three-day event received widespread national coverage, including a major feature in the New York Times . I AM A PROBLEM: MIND IN PIECES was among 2015's most highly praised recordings, proclaimed by The Quietus as "a must for all fans of fucked-up outsider rock." The album "contains all the ominous suspense of a classic horror movie," wrote Pitchfork . "Each track oozes with eerie tones and seat-edge momentum, such that something terrifying seems to always lurk around the corner." I AM A PROBLEM: MIND IN PIECES "evokes classical Wolf Eyes in ways that count," noted SPIN in an 8-out-of-10-rated rave, "but under that rich seasoning of clatters, slithers, feedback, and digested vocal malaise writhe songs." "A gasping, heaving monster," applauded Stereogum . "Parts of it sound a bit more like rock music than the things this band has made before." Paste celebrated Wolf Eyes' "utter disdain for normalcy," noting that "hooking up with Third Man...might indicate immortality for an ensemble that could have just decided to fleece the noise genre's fast-decaying corpse."

Melbourne's Teeth & Tongue on Dot Dash / Captured Tracks
Teeth & Tongue Detail New Album Give Up On Your Health Coming in September on Dot Dash / Captured Tracks
Unveil First Single "Dianne"

LISTEN / SHARE "DIANNE" VIA SOUNDCLOUD HERE
There's a dilemma that every songwriter faces: whether to be so vague that the listener might superimpose their own life, or whether to get so specific that the listener tumbles into the plot. Of course, the latter approach can wind up getting a writer into trouble.
Teeth & Tongue - the musical project of Jess Cornelius - returns with her boldest album to date, Give Up on Your Health. Cornelius has crafted kitchen-sink dramas and relationship vignettes that follow a lineage from Ken Loach through Jarvis Cocker. As theNew Zealand-born, Melbourne-based songwriter explains, "In the past I've written personal material, but this album is more about observation. I was reading essays by [American poet] Eileen Myles and she has this stream-of-consciousness style, no filter."
On the heels of a breakup, Cornelius retired to remote Iceland on a three-month Nes Artist Residency, where she wrote a lot of material like the heartbreaking 'Small Towns'. But after returning to Melbourne, where Cornelius brought the material to the band: guitaristMarc Regueiro-McKelvie, bassist Damian Sullivan and drummer James Harvey; things took a turn. Unlike 2014's more ambient Grids, in which the vocals were textured and layered, here they're dominant over a grid of '70s electronica. "I wanted to make an energetic dance-pop record, but with substance," says Cornelius, "the kind you'd put on when you're driving down the highway, forgetting all the stressful stuff."
The band teamed up with co-producer Haima Marriott (Banoffee, Architecture in Helsinki), whose knowledge of vintage synths came in handy when referencing Daft Punkand Giorgio Moroder. Vocally, it's intriguing, with Cornelius alternating between being warm and gentle, and cool and detached.
Even in her darkest hour, Cornelius can't help but rule with a pop aesthetic. After storming Australia with previous albums, earning love from Triple R, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, etc. and touring with Courtney Barnett on her 2016 album tour, Teeth & Tongue grace us with their addictive and unforgettable Give Up On Your Health which sees its release in September on Dot Dash / Captured Tracks.

The Warlocks Share "Lonesome Bulldog" Track Via SPIN | New LP Out 9.2 On Cleopatra Records
The Warlocks Share "Lonesome Bulldog" Track Via SPIN, Announce New LP
'Songs From The Pale Eclipse' Out September 2nd On Cleopatra Records
LISTEN & SHARE: The Warlocks - "Lonesome Bulldog"
https://soundcloud.com/cleopatra-recs/02-lonesome-bulldog/s-VH9YT
"Vocals from bandleader Bobby Hecksher weaving wearily through static sonic terrain with the gusto of a jaded vagabond — which is a lot more pleasing than that description may sound."
- SPIN Psych-rock mainstays The Warlocks announce their latest LP, 'Songs From The Pale Eclipse,' and debut their new single "Lonesome Bulldog" via SPIN. The single is currently available for purchase on iTunes.
Formed in America during 1999, The Warlocks produce a relentless, hypnotic wall of sound that suggests a collision between classic psychedelia, Krautrock and Velvet Underground style rock and roll. It's just what the head doctor orders if you wish to be an underground stateside phenomenon and that's exactly what The Warlocks became.
Front man Bobby Hecksher grew up in the swamps of Tampa Bay, Florida where he was practically raised at a radio station owned his grandfather and where his mum also worked as a secretary. As a result Bobby was soon eating and breathing rock'n'roll on a daily basis. Bobby recalls, "My granddad was an inspiration. He created the radio station out of thin air. And from it all these nuggets of rock'n'roll came toward me".
At sixteen his family left the swamps and moved to LA where Bobby soon found kindred spirits. He jammed with Beck, playing bass on Stereopathetic Soulmanure, Beck’s second independently released album. He hung out in the decadent atmosphere of the Mad Hatter club and moonlighted in the Brian Jonestown Massacre whilst also attending parties with legendary acid guru Timothy Leary, a potent cultural and creative mix that led to the formation of The Warlocks.
Their debut album Rise & Fall (Bomp 2000) set out their template, allowing The Warlocks to build upon their reputation as a forceful live act. But it was the band's signing of a worldwide deal with Mute (in conjunction with City Rockers in the UK and with Birdman in America) that led to the release of Phoenix (2003) a record that raised their profile significantly. The album's varying moods and atmospheres range from the driving power of "Shake the Dope Out" to the 14-minute, hallucinogenic opus "Oh Shadie." International touring in support of the release and the sheer power of Warlock’s gigantic live sound built a worldwide cult following for the band that has only grown and intensified.
2005 saw Hecksher and company team up with veteran producer Tom Rothrock (Beck, Elbow, Motörhead) for the band’s third album, the dreamy blissed-out Surgery. After some significant changes in personnel, the band returned just 2 years later with the darker Heavy Deavy Skull Lover released on Tee Pee Records, followed by 2009’s The Mirror Explodes produced by Joey Santiago of The Pixies. All the while, the band continued to develop their sound and grow their fanbase, and after a somewhat longer hiatus, the Warlocks returned in 2013 with Skull Worship.
Now Hecksher has dug deep into his demo vault for the best- hidden musical gems and undiscovered melodic treasures, which the band then reworked and re-recorded to bring youSongs From The Pale Eclipse. Hecksher expressed that “Songs From The Pale Eclipse is a collection he’s been wanting to get to for the last decade or so” and adds that regarding new song ideas, he is “usually near the brink of collapse, tracking till 6am” but “no matter what time or how much inconvenience it may be at that moment- he tracks it as soon as possible.” Well worth the wait, the album is psych rock gold with harmonically- rich vocals and hypnotic guitars.
The first single from “Songs From The Pale Eclipse”, “Lonesome Bulldog” features Bobby’s solemn, yet seductive, raspy voice paired perfectly with melodic guitars and tight drums. The articulate, poetic lyrics, “trying to unwind the time, falling through the mirror, with acid on my mind” from the track, “We Took All The Acid” provides an insight into the expanded mind of the bands vocalist / songwriter. “Drinking Song” is complete with visionary themes of the personification of alcohol and deep moods that reveal the pain of alcoholism expressed by the line “oh alcohol, you know me too well.” The complex instrumentals in selected songs showcase their variety of polished talents as well as heavy sounds. The deftly- produced album illuminates textured instrumental skill and addictive vocals, only to be matched with brilliant song writing. All together, the effortless sounds leave the listener intoxicated.

PINS Debut Video For "I'll Get Mine" And BERNARD + EDITH Remix of "Trouble"

"The Manchester, England-reared all-female quartet Pins may be the talk of the indie scene - and look magazine-ready, to boot - but their ascent has been as uncontrived as their fuzzed-out, slightly melancholy sound."-The New York Times"Citing '90s groups like My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain as influences, the band takes a jangly, straight-ahead approach to alternative rock on "Young Girls" –NPR"They're just a very good rock band making very good rock music, taking a familiar stew of influences and just nailing the fuck out of them." –Stereogum"Young Girls," a sunny-day indie shuffler that flows perfectly in time for the gentle winds of spring" --FADER
Still on the heels of their successful second album Wild Nights , and coming off of a North American tour supporting The Subways, Manchester five-piece PINS have shared an artful video for track “I’ll Get Mine” as well as an immersive remix of track “Trouble” by electro-pop label mates BERNARD + EDITH. You can stream both the video and remix via Under the Radar. The video invokes the minimalistic style of the Factory era and PINS’ effortless cool plays into this iconic vision seamlessly. BERNARD + EDITH’s remix of “Trouble” swells the musing, understated track into a different beast entirely, built upon propulsive beats and vast, production that evokes both emotion and unbridled energy.
PINS earlier this year released their standout second album Wild Nights , receiving great acclaim across media in the UK and US. The album was recorded in Joshua Tree at Rancho De La Luna with Dave Catching (QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal) and Hayden Scott, and mixed in New York with Ben Baptie at Atomic Sound NYC (Mark Ronson).
This year has seen a packed out touring schedule for the band. Along with performing their own sold out headline shows, they have supported the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Drenge, Best Coast, Mythopeoia III: Legs and The Subways.

Los Angeles' Katy Goodman (La Sera) and Greta Morgan (Springtime Carnivore) have teamed up to release Take It, It's Yours, a covers album featuring reimagined versions of '70s & '80s punk and New Wave songs, on August 26 on Polyvinyl Records.
SiriusXMU and Stereogum premiered the album's first single, an anthemic cover of the 1985 Replacements classic "Bastards of Young."

"Opening not with a tin wire guitar riff but rather a reverb-dipped breeze reminiscent of Real Estate, Goodman and Morgan sweetly sing Paul Westerberg's opening lines... as if they actually came from the last Jenny Lewis album. Replacing Westerberg's guttural throttle with these women's harmony-driven delivery shifts the original's mood of dissatisfied confrontation towards one of sardonic defiance." - Stereogum

New York City’s most dangerous rock’n’roll band, Boss Hog, is back with BROOD STAR, a four song Maxi-Disco 12-inch, distilled, vivisected, surgically altered, bound, spindled, remixed and mutilated into a tantalizing amuse-bouche for their forthcoming full-length album, BROOD X.

onDeadWaves Reveals "California" Video, Album Out Now

WATCH THE NEW VIDEO FOR CALIFORNIA
DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW

“Cinematic, lush and dark” - Lenny
“a mesmerizing mid-point of blues, indie and electronica” - Surviving the Golden Age
“A smoldering blend of Edgar Allen Poe imagery, David Lynch and Chris Isaak’s guitar twang.” - Q
“Theirs is a misty, spectral sort of guitar ambience, a whispered, wistful duet from Chapman and Scattergood positing them as a new take on the Nancy & Lee – or Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan – paradigm." - The Guardian
Polly Scattergood and James Chapman (Maps) aka onDeadWaves have unveiled the new video for “ California .” This long-shot cavort through a ‘70s Californian pool party à la Boogie Nights was directed by Mexico’s Groovy Chaos, who has previously directed videos for Moby.
“California” is taken from the band’s debut, self-titled, album. Described by The Arts Desk as “one of the year’s essential albums,” onDeadWaves are Polly Scattergood and James Chapman (aka Maps), who met at Mute’s legendary Short Circuit festival where they each performed one another’s songs.
The band have announced they will support M83 on their forthcoming Manchester (June 26) and Glasgow (June 27) dates, before returning to London for a headline show at The Victoria, Dalston on Wednesday, June 29, full details below:
