It fosters the genuine connection between bands and their audience. I'm legitimately excited every year to see whom they've conjured to play and I've enjoyed it equally as an artist and as a punter. A real treat!" - Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint "It's very hard to find a festival where commerce takes a back seat to art, as it should, but Desert Daze is a breath of fresh air. A rare autonomous zone, unlike any contemporary festival setting I've been in." - Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe) "Desert Daze is a throwback to the days before music festivals became mainstream" - Eve Barlow, The Guardian

Diet Cig Confirm Summer And Fall Tour Dates. Includes Riot Festival in Denver and Austin's Sound On Sound Fest!

DIET CIG CONTINUE NON-STOP TOUR WITH ADDITION OF MORE DATES THIS SUMMER AND FALL!
CONFIRMED FOR DENVER'S RIOT FEST AND AUSTIN'S SOUND ON SOUND FESTIVAL
DEBUT ALBUM COMING 2017

Though Diet Cig now call Brooklyn, NY home its a fair bet to say that since March of this year they have spent more time in a tour van than Brooklyn.  That trend shows no sign of slowing down as the band continues to book additional shows across the US.  Today they announce additions to the tour schedule with the new round of dates kicking off July 9 inColumbusOH and concluding (for now) at Austin's Sound on Sound Festival inNovember.  In addition to that festival they will also be performing at Atlanta's Wrecking Ball Festival in August,  and in September Riot Fest in DenverCOHopscotch inRaleighNC and Pop Montreal.  Headline shows are on the schedule for, among other cities, TorontoBrooklyn and Washington, DC. The full tour is listed below!
Diet Cig is Alex Luciano (guitar) and Noah Bowman (drums) and the duo have made a big statement out of five highly infectious pop songs released last year via their EP  Over Easy.   While recalling the sound of speedy twee-pop groups like Tiger Trap and All Girl Summer Fun Band, the record explores "the innocence of adolescence and infatuation." With Bowman's crashing drum kit offering stationary support, Luciano becomes an onstage tornado as lines between band and audience blur into a massive dance party.  Check out the EP's epic singalong "Harvard."
After garnering attention from the likes of  Pitchfork Rolling Stone, Stereogum, and Spin, Diet Cig returned with the seven-inch, "Sleep Talk / Dinner Date." "Sleep Talk" begins where Over Easy left off, with the candidly self-analytical statement, "I can't play instruments very well and I'll eat all of your cereal." While this line may feel lighthearted, the narrative quickly grows complicated with the gentle admission, "If I told you I loved you I don't know who it would scare away faster." "Dinner Date" continues the theme of painful retrospection and vulnerability as Luciano examines familial disappointment. Both songs offer a more complex level of intimacy and prove that Diet Cig are here to stay.
Both the EP and the singles were recorded with Christopher Daly at Salvation Recording Company in New Paltz, NY and mastered by Jamal Ruhe at West West Side Music.
"Cathartic pop-punk with boundless vitality and wide-eyed charm." - NPR
"A collection of brisk, personal pop-punk. - Pitchfork

"A lo-fi whirlwind, with songs cutting to the heart." - The New York Times

"There doesn't seem to be another band that proves quite so natural to adore" - The Line of Best Fit

"This New York-based garage punk duo knows how to pack maximum wallop into small bundles-both in terms of their music and their outstanding, pint-size frontwoman, Alex Luciano." - Paste
"duo whose live show is uninhibited and inspiring." - Consequence of Sound
"...guitarist-vocalist Alex Luciano made sure all eyes were on her. Jumping across the stage whenever she wasn't singing, and tossing out high kicks that would put Robert Pollard to shame, Luciano put on a joyously fun performance during the band's short set." - AV Club

Diet Cig is currently working on their full length debut.

LEGENDARY SINGER/SONGWRITER/PRODUCER BARRY GIBB SIGNS TO COLUMBIA RECORDS

SET TO RELEASE HIS FIRST SOLO ALBUM INVOLVING NEW MATERIAL ‘IN THE NOW’ DUE OUT ON COLUMBIA RECORDS THIS FALL

ELDEST BROTHER AND CO-FOUNDER OF THE ICONIC BEE GEES RECORDS
FIRST ALBUM
OF ALL NEW MATERIAL

HALL OF FAMER JOINED COLDPLAY ONSTAGE SUNDAY NIGHT AT GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL AS A GUEST PERFORMERCredit: Danny Clinch(Columbia Records; New York, NY – June 28, 2016) – Legendary Grammy award winning singer/songwriter/producer Barry Gibb has signed with Columbia Records and will release his first album with the label titled, In The Now, in the fall of 2016. The surviving member of one of music’s most successful and revered bands, the Bee Gees, (formed with his brothers Robin and Maurice), has kept In The Now a family affair, writing all the songs with his sons Stephen and Ashley.

Produced by Barry and co-producer John Merchant, the album is only the second solo effort of Gibb’s career and his first album of all new material since the Bee Gees final studio album in 2001.  In The Now is an impassioned solo effort that signals a welcome return of one of the most identifiable and versatile voices in the history of rock, pop, and R&B. The 12-track album was recorded in Miami with the same gathering of accomplished musicians Barry assembled for his acclaimed 2014 solo tour.

As a record producer/songwriter, Barry has been instrumental in creating milestones for other artists, ranging from Barbra Streisand’s ‘Guilty’ album to Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers country record ‘Islands In The Stream’ also, Diana Ross ‘Eaten Alive featuring ‘Chain Reaction’ as well as Dionne Warwick’s ‘Heartbreaker’ album.

“This is a dream come true for me. It’s a new chapter in my life. I always hoped one day that The Bee Gees would be with Columbia or indeed Sony so, it’s a great joy for me to start again this way with such great people”

Between Robin, Maurice, and Andy, the Gibb brothers achieved 19 number one records on the Billboard charts including, a phenomenal 6 in a row equaling The Beatles record.

“I will never forget my brothers, they will always be a part of everything I do. Our dream came true”

Barry returned to live performing in 2013-2014 with the Mythology Tour, celebrating the Bee Gees anthology release of the same name as a tribute to his three brothers. The acclaimed tour included shows in Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, and The U.S., garnering an outpouring of affection and critical praise from around the world.

Blood Orange's new album is OUT NOW!

Photo credit: Michael Lavine""Freetown Sound" is a wondrous tapestry of eighties dance and R. & B., shot through with questions about migration, Christianity, and black masculinity." - THE NEW YORKER"It can seem that there's not an inch of New York - not a block, not a scene, not a cultural ecosystem - where Mr. Hynes, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter-producer, hasn't left a footprint."NEW YORK TIMESBlood Orange's highly anticipated new album,  Freetown Sound , is out now.Written and produced by Hynes, and featuring musical contributions from Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae Jepsen, BEA1991, Debbie Harry, Adam Bainbridge (a.k.a. Kindness), Empress Of, Ian Isiah, Kelsey Lu, Jason Arce, Ava Raiin, Aaron Maine (a.k.a. Porches), Bryndon Cook (a.k.a. Starchild) and Patrick Wimberly, Freetown Sound is a tour de force, a confluence of Hynes' past, present, and future that melds his influences with his own established musical voice."A committed cultural citizen, he stands out among the New York musicians of his generation. Mr. Hynes's modern bohemianism feels like a holdover from an earlier time, more reminiscent of the uptown-downtown cross-pollination of the early 1980s, or how Lou Reed bridged proto-punk and art, or how Warhol's Factory took in the outcasts from all the city's scenes and gave them a home. His cultural life is broad and fluid, a throwback to when New York culture was less professionalized, more intimate and less segmented. "Freetown Sound" suggests a conversation with the city, navigating a host of styles while weaving in vocal snippets of local characters, from KRS-One to Ta-Nehisi Coates." - NEW YORK TIMES Watch the video for album track 'Augustine' here.

Warhaus shares new track 'I'm Not Him'

Shares new track 'I'm Not Him' https://soundcloud.com/warhausmusic/imnothim Taken from the debut Album 'We Fucked A Flame Into Being'Watch 'The Good Lie' here"The track smolders with film-noir-like sexuality" - Cool HuntingWarhaus is the artistic alter ego and solo recording project of Maarten Devoldere -- who (along with Jinte Deprez) fronts the urbanely soulful Belgian rock band Balthazar. Warhaus’ debut album  We Fucked A Flame Into Being  will be released on September 2nd.The title of Warhaus’ new album,  We Fucked A Flame Into Being  (a direct quote from Lady Chatterley's Lover by DH Lawrence), was "too good to pass on!” declares Devoldere. It is indeed a fitting title for an album where every song celebrates the inscrutability of encounters and pays tribute to the decadence and intensity that life can offer.Although Maarten Devoldere has up until now kept his Warhaus persona well under the radar, the rare glimpses offered up to this point have conjured up a darkly esoteric lyrical universe, fueled by desire and love, haunted by a hunger for the fleeting, yearning to express the unsayable;  We Fucked A Flame Into Being  probes such depths savagely.Illusion and disillusion may subtly interchange, but it is the lie that Warhaus most honors, sowing seeds of despair in an unstable world: "You want magic, count me in / You want Jesus, well I'm not him / You're an angel or a whore / Tell me who you're working for / Loving you isn't easy you know / But it's a motherfucker not to do so…" (“I'm Not Him”)“I love contradictions,” asserts Devoldere. “They are musically very appealing to me: raw vs. fundamentally passionate, brutal vs. romantic, art vs. Kitsch, archaic vs. modern". The French sixties, a touch of exoticism, a careless apathy: Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg are never far away, as We Fucked A Flame Into Being  cleverly coalesces fifty years of music history.“I'm at the end of my twenties now. With this record I close an important period," avers Devoldere. “It’s an ode to love, to its excesses and elusiveness. Though love songs are a form of advertising: you portray a woman and the listener should fall in love with her too.”TRACKLISTING:1. I’m Not Him2. The Good Lie3. Against The Rich4. Leave With Me5. We Are Scientists Perform Live On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert This Thursday 6/30

We Are Scientists Perform Live On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert This Thursday! ‘Helter Seltzer’ Album Available On Vinyl/CD And ITunes Via 100% Records West Coast Tour Begins July 8th

Photo: Shervin Lainez We Are Scientists are happy to announce that they will be performing live on The Late Show With Stephen Colbertthis Thursday, June 30th! The Brooklyn-based pop rock troupe recently returned with their fifth album, ‘Helter Seltzer’ (available via iTunes,  CD, and limited edition teal-colored vinyl via 100% Records) and have been touring across the globe in support of its release. In addition, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their classic album, 'With Love And Squalor', the band performed the record in its entirety at the Irving Plaza show in NYC and will do so again at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles next month. For ‘Helter Seltzer’, We Are Scientists asked their ex-keyboard player Max Hart to produce. Max had just finished a three-year stint as the keyboardist for international super-mega-person Katy Perry, choosing as his final gig Ms. Perry’s performance at the 2015 Super Bowl. Max rented a studio space in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood, outfitting it with gear he had accumulated over a decade of obsessive internet shopping. In early March, the team got to work and a direction quickly emerged - they would use the tones and trickery of radio pop and Max’s inside-out familiarity with hits like ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework’ and ‘Dark Horse’ to add a sweet sheen to the new crop of distinctively We Are Scientists songs. The recordings were shipped to mixer Chris Coady at Sunset Sound in L.A. who has quietly emerged in recent years as one of the finest mixers of glossy indie pop, with credits that include Future Islands, Beach House, and !!!. Finally, the music was passed through the deluxe mastering machine that are the ears of Greg Calbi (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Noel Gallagher, Perfume Genius) to add a coat of heft and sparkle, and in January of 2016, nearly a year after construction began, the album was pronounced complete.  "We've always made overtures toward being a pop band, but we've generally had the inclination to obscure those pop leanings in grit and chaos — to screw them up with fuzzed-out tones and raucous performances," says guitarist and vocalist Keith Murray"It's made us really think about what our musical genre is. We're not punk — we're too interested in making our songs as pretty as possible. We're not straight-up rock — our tastes are too left-of-center. We're not indie-rock — our heads aren't far enough up our own butts. So finally, after putting as much time into thinking about it as we're apt to — about ten minutes, over beers — we decided that our genre is 'Helter Seltzer.'" "Declaring a new genre is obviously douchey as hell, though, and impossible to deliver with a straight face," adds bassist Chris Cain"so we did the noble thing and just made ‘Helter Seltzer’ the album title. It's especially apt for us these days, though. The songs here are more effervescent than we've ever managed to deliver, but they've still maintained a measure of that ‘Helter Skelter’ element — no matter how fizzy and refreshing the tunes are, they've always got a bit of that seamy, scuzzy, 'cult on Spahn Ranch' vibe. We therefore consider this album, as a vessel of both sweet pop tunes and seltzer outreach,” concludes Chris. “To be a work of undisguised philanthropy on our part." Watch the video for 'Buckle'
