Courtney Barnett releases video feat. Sleater-Kinney, Jeff Tweedy & more
COURTNEY BARNETT RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR "ELEVATOR OPERATOR"
ON WORLD TOUR NOWANNOUNCES US FALL SHOWS
SOMETIMES I SIT AND THINK, AND SOMETIMES I JUST SIT OUT NOW ON MOM+POP MUSIC
Photo Credit: Danny ClinchThe past few years have seen the meteoric rise of Courtney Barnett to the higher echelons of indie rock superstardom. If her debut LP Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit finally heralded the arrival of a truly unique and distinctive songwriting voice, everything that has taken place after has only confirmed it. For being nominated for a Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards, to appearing on TV shows such as Jimmy Fallon, Ellen, The Colbert Show and Conan and, recently, closing out the latest season of Saturday Night Live, Barnett has shown that following her own idiosyncratic path is the best, surefire path to success.
Watch/share the video for "Elevator Operator"
Now, in keeping with her deliciously skewed sense of humor, Barnett reveals her best video yet, for her new single "Elevator Operator". Directed by Sunny Leunig (son of legendary Australian cartoonist Michael Leunig, who himself appears briefly in the video) and crammed with cameos from a raft of similarly off kilter, counterculture stars such as Sleater-Kinney, Magda Szubanski ("Kath & Kim"), Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), and musical Antipodean legends such as The Drones, Tim Rogers and Paul Kelly, it features Barnett as a harassed elevator operator encountering a series of strange, surreal characters before, just like the song itself, ending up on the rooftop of Melbourne's Nicholas Building with her band, looking over the ledge for "perception and clarity", imagining she's "playing Sim City". It is yet another potent reminder of what makes Courtney Barnett so inimitably Courtney Barnett - a gloriously odd and slyly humorous slice of life that only she can imbue with such wit and imagination.
Watch Courtney Barnett on Saturday Night Live
Barnett will be returning to the US later this year to play the inaugural Sound On Sound festival in Austin as well as a show at the Ogden Theatre in Denver. These will be the last US shows for 2016.

Saint Agnes new video 'Sister Electric' out now // FFO The Kills, The Dead Weather and Black Sabbath

“Psych-rock four-piece Saint Agnes have created a unique cinematic sound and a rock ’n’ roll Gothic image to match.” –The Telegraph
“Their raw chemistry proves as potent as ever as they dish out a grinding splurge of defiant rock n’ roll graffiti”– Q Magazine
Since their formation in 2014, blues-rock powerhouse Saint Agnes have gone from strength to strength, releasing two sell out singles, a live EP and cementing their place as London’s most exciting live band. Now that they’ve released new single ‘Sister Electric’, on Death or Glory Gang Records, they’re pleased to share their brand new video by Ed Edwardsof multimedia, award-winning independent film company, Ragged Crow Productions.
The innovative and atmospheric ‘Sister Electric’ video was shot over two nights in a medieval house in Kent. It takes the form of a supernatural hallucination brought on by band members downing a strange potion during an occult gathering. The mesmerizing spinning room imagery was achieved by attaching a tiny camera to an electric drill, then painstakingly layering multiple takes to produce a psychedelic and dream-like effect.
Merging effortlessly raw guitars with true rock n’ roll swagger, Saint Agnes are a phenomenon that simply need to be experienced live, where a sense of unifying camaraderie fills the air and the atmosphere is thick with anticipation, something rarely witnessed on the London live music circuit. This new cut blends that electrifying intensity with beautifully harmonised vocals from joint frontmen Kitty Arabella Austen (Lola Colt) and Jon Tufnell (Lost Souls Club),and biker-bar rock riffs.
Saint Agnes are also pleased to announce their inclusion in the Hackney Wonderland Festival on October 15thalongside Mystery Jets, We Are Scientists, Swim Deep, Crocodiles, Demob Happy, Misty Miller and many more. Tickets are available here

Between the band's late-80s/early 90s touring schedule and delivering an album once a year, there simply wasn't time for more than a day or so of fleshing out their music before recording started. "This was a wonderful luxury, for us to have the time to be able to really work these new songs out," said Pixies drummer David Lovering. "By the time we started recording, we all knew the songs backwards and forwards, so it took half as long for us to make this album as it did to make 'Indie Cindy.' And it was great working with Tom...he started with us in pre-production and played a big part in keeping us focused on making the best music we could.” In addition, the band - Lovering, rhythm guitarist/vocalist Black Francis and guitarist Joey Santiago - officially welcome bassist Paz Lenchantin to the Pixies' permanent line-up. Lenchantin has been the band's touring bassist since January 2014, and played an integral part in the recording of Head Carrier. Her cool and dreamy soprano can be heard singing lead on the track "All I Think About Now.""I was very nervous in the beginning when I went to that first rehearsal," said Lenchantin."There were these shoes I felt I had to fill and I tried to do the best I could for the fans, to make the live performances sound true to the originals. I spent three years learning to understand what being a Pixie meant, and now, my heart, spirit, and love for their music is embedded in me and I feel like I have become a Pixie. We had been more about the history of the Pixies, but now, we are about going forward.""Paz is a joy to be around," added Lovering. "She's very funny, and we're having more fun than we've ever had as a band, we all have a blast together, on and off stage." All songs were written by the Pixies apart from “All I Think About Now”, which was written by Francis and Lenchantin. Zero 7 / Henry Binns & Bo Bruce New Single - Equador "Blood / Bones Of Man"
EQUADOR BLOOD / BONES OF MAN

VIDEO FOR "BLOOD": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JEsko__zas

Singer Bo Bruce and producer / musician Henry Binns met whilst working on tracks for what would become Bo's top ten debut album in 2013, and immediately hit it off as a writing duo. In 2015 the pair holed up in the Zero 7 studio, Henry being one half of that hugely popular Mercury nominated group, writing and recording early versions of what would become the new album by Equador.
Musician friends dropped by and added touches of inspiration and occasional production wizardry, most notablyhiatus and Jodi Milliner, who contributed to most tracks on the record.
The result is an album of extraordinary beauty, taking Bo's distinctive voice, and fusing it with a unique sound that combines elements of 90's down-tempo ambience coupled with the haunting sound of 60's mellotron and wurlitzers.
First fruit of the album comes on July 1st in the form of the stunning double A side Bones of Man / Blood, the latter track already having clocked up strong support from fan bases of both artists when a video was released in the Spring. The album, Bones Of Man, is released in September on Pegdoll Records.

Caveman release creepy stop-motion video for "The State of Mind"
CAVEMAN RELEASE NEW STOP MOTION VIDEO FOR "THE STATE OF MIND" VIA THE LINE OF BEST FIT
OTERO WAR OUT NOW VIA CINEMATIC MUSIC GROUP
WATCH // EMBED "THE STATE OF MIND"
"Videographer Joseph Baughman (Deerhoof, Sufjan Stevens) has created the video, which is bewitchingly bizarre - you can't quite tear yourself away."The Line of Best Fit Fresh off an extensive North American tour with Frightened Rabbit, New York's Caveman have shared the creepy new music video for "The State of Mind" off of the band's new album
Otero War
.
Caveman's lead singer Matthew Iwanusa says of the track, "'The State of Mind' is a song that makes you see both sides of the album. It bridges the gap from the upbeat ones to the more low key songs." The video premiered this morning on The Line of Best Fit.
Otero War

Caveman is set to play several major festivals this summer including Forecastle in Louisville, KY, Panorama in NYC and Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco, CA. They also play LouFest and Austin City Limits in the fall. Headline dates will be announced very soon. Check out the previously released video for the lead single "Never Going Back," which premiered on Pitchfork. The video was directed by acclaimed fashion photographer and director Steven Sebring and is available to watch // embed here. You can also hear "Human" and "80 West" from Otero War here. About Since Caveman first formed in 2010 they've claimed a spot for themselves at the center of the New York music scene, become in-demand DJs, toured the world (sharing stages with The War on Drugs, Jeff Tweedy, and Weezer), and received critical praise from the most prestigious media. Now the band - Matthew Iwanusa, lead guitarist James Carbonetti, bassist Jeff Berrall, keyboardist Sam Hopkins and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Prescott Clark - is aiming higher. Caveman have their sights set on bigger goals, so on their third time around they made their biggest-sounding, most ambitious album yet. Otero War was created over the course of three years, completely inverting the ramshackle methods used to make 2011's CoCo Beware and their 2013 self-titled LP. While Iwanusa's stepped further out front as a songwriter, arranger, and singer, Otero War is still a group effort made with contributions from the band's entire unofficial extended family. Albert Di Fiore, who engineered their last album, returns with an expanded role to produce. New confidant Michael Brauer was brought in to mix. Iwanusa's father even contributes string arrangements. Longtime friend and New York punk-scene legend Johnny T, who over the years has employed members as bartenders and DJ's at his bars, helped the band get signed as the first rock act on Cinematic Music Group, home to rappers Joey Bada$$, G Herbo and Cam'ron.

Photo Credit: Michael Lavine WATCH & SHARE: Yoko Ono - "Catman" (Miike Snow Remix) Revolutionary pop culture icon Yoko Ono teams up with acclaimed actor/director Rose McGowan (Charmed, Scream, Grindhouse – Planet Terror, Grindhouse – Death Proof, Machete, Dawn) to direct the official music video for “Catman” (Miike Snow Remix), taken from Ono’s latest collaboration album, the critically acclaimed
Yes, I'm A Witch Too,
out now via Manimal Group. The arresting result offers intriguing visuals of bodysuit-clad women of varying body types moving expressively to Miike Snow's frenetic reinterpretation of Ono's "Catman”, which originally appeared on Ono's 1973 album Approximately Infinite Universe. The result is jarring and compelling, as well as inspired, anarchistic and subtlety subversive. "Yoko Ono has been an ardent supporter of women and modern dance for years and so I wanted to thank her for that. Casting women dancers over 60, including one with cancer, was my way of showing that vitality doesn't die with age. I used color overlays to create my own visual beat. Very proud to be in Ono world, it's an important one." says McGowan, whose directorial debut came in the form of last January's
Dawn
, which received multiple awards at the 2016 Sundance Festival. Yoko has long been a staunch advocate against sexism and ageism, and the video is a vibrant testament and tribute to her enduring philosophies. In keeping with her ethos “every moment in our lives is a miracle we should enjoy instead of ignoring”, the “Catman” video is a rousing celebration of life and all its complicated struggles as expressed through the freeing and healing powers of dance. “Catman” (Miike Snow Remix) is taken from Ono’s latest offering

With performances at Bonnaroo, Sasquatch and Firefly, as well as 14-dates opening for Oh Wonder already under their belt this summer, the trio will also be performing at Outside Lands and Life is Beautiful later this year. PRESS HEREfor more information. LANY (comprised of Paul Klein, Les Priest and Jake Goss) happened organically. It began when the former school friends collaborated on songs that Klein had written and within days they had created a clutch of anthems that were too good to ignore. Even at this early stage, their songs have connected on a large scale: the blissful dream-pop of "ILYSB" made big waves when they put it online and has over 15 million Spotify plays so far. Their single "Where The Hell Are My Friends" is already nudging 4 million plays in a matter of weeks. LANY create music that makes the intimate feel universal and connects them indelibly with their growing fanbase.

"Wendy Bevan fuses early 80s electro underground with the twinkling delicacies of mid-90s alternative." -FLAUNT
"Like her forebears, [Wendy Bevan] has a gift for funereally romantic imagery. And ["Sweet Dedication's"] minimalist rhythms, spooky organ breaks and echo-drenched guitars hit all the most sublime gothic notes. But it’s her astonishingly eerie ability to channel Siouxsie Sioux that is most startling, rising far above so many pale imitators." - BlackBook Wendy Bevan shares her new video "In Ghosts We Trust" and announces her debut full length LP Rose and Thorn. Breanna Barbara's "Mirage Dreams" Is Interview's 'Song Of The Week' | Plays With Deer Tick & Margo Price
Breanna Barbara's "Mirage Dreams" Track Is Interview's
Song Of The Week
Plays Hudson RiverStage With Deer Tick And Margo Price
On July 16
'Mirage Dreams' LP Out 7.22 Via No Roads
LISTEN & SHARE: Breanna Barbara - "Mirage Dreams"
"While it arises out of tragedy it does so with a gleeful vengeance, and in the case of this track, even a howl." - Interview
WATCH & SHARE: Breanna Barbara - "Nothin But Your Lovin"
"Brooklyn-based musician Breanna Barbara ain’t just another super cute indie chick. This girl has got pipes, not to mention the unabashed soulfulness of the blues musicians of days past."
- BULLETT Breanna Barabara's "Mirage Dreams" is Interview's Song Of The Week.
Breanna opened to the magazine about the story behind this song: "This one came out of me like a freight train," she recalls. "I had been playing and writing songs on the guitar for a while but was becoming a little numb and uninspired in the whole writing process. A lot of the songs I was making at the time had been coming from my experience after losing my father unexpectedly to a drug overdose."
"I could tell something was boiling inside of me, I just didn't know how to get it out. I knew I was sick of being sad and I was sick of singing sad songs." "The moment this song came out of me I felt like I had finally shed some old snake skin and was ready to dance and scream."
Last week, BULLETT premiered Barbara's live video for "Nothin But Your Lovin." They praised her saying that she's not your typical cute indie chick, "This girl has got pipes, not to mention the unabashed soulfulness of the blues musicians of days past."
The singer-songwriter’s forthcoming Mirage Dreams LP introduces a bold new voice steeped in occult blues (think of it as a Southern Gothic fusion of blues and psychedelia), with songs about losing a parent to an overdose and a New York of empty clubs and sweaty, unairconditioned lofts but also about falling in love and finding an artistic voice.
Recorded and produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff) at The Bomb Shelter in East Nashville over two weeks in the winter of 2014, the album features Ben Trimble of Fly Golden Eagle (backing vocals, keys); Jem Cohen of The Ettes (backing vocals); Matt Menold (lead guitar, organ), Charles Garmendia (drums), and Eduardo DuQuesne (bass) of Clear Plastic Masks; Jon Etes (upright bass, pedal steel, keys); and David Grant (drums, percussion).
Breanna, who’d self-released two albums (Theoria and Baby Where You Are) on Bandcamp, sent her “funny little iPhone recordings” to Andrija, who invited her to come down to Nashville. She packed her guitar and drove down in the van she slept in some nights: “Every morning we'd meet around 10, drink coffee, listen to the acoustic demos I sent him, and brainstorm how we wanted the song to turn out. Then we'd go into the studio and do a few takes,” recalls Breanna. “I had literally never recorded with more than my iPhone or computer, so going from that to working with someone who has platinum records on his bathroom floor was pretty surreal.”
Breanna was born in Edina, Minnesota and raised in Bradenton, Florida. She began writing and performing songs at house shows and bars in St. Augustine, FL, and traveled around the north and southeast before settling in New York City. She has shared bills with Deap Vally, Yak, and The Mystery Lights, with upcoming concerts opening for Deer Tick, Margo Price, Wild Beasts, and Bo Ningen.
